Wind blew through the trees overhead, rustling the leaves and shaking the nuts and fruits and causing a single apple to fall, before being caught in a rough swing of an arm, a bite quickly taken from it. Argent had been assigned to head to the forest for his entrance exam, and would meet with the partner the Academy had selected for him. He was hoping for someone that could hold their own well enough, and preferably keep pace with him, though he wasn't usually one to work with someone else regardless.
According to the information he was given, the duo was supposed to hunt a Grimm for their exam, and that they'd know the one they were after when they saw it, because of a weapon stuck in its body, and to retrieve the weapon as proof. Pretty straight-forward, but it likely wouldn't be easy by any means. Tossing aside the core of the now-eaten apple, Argent continued deeper into the forest, headed for a clearing that was the rendezvous point to meet with his new partner.
As he reached the clearing, Argent began triple-checking his supplies to make sure nothing had come off of unsettled during the trip. All of his Dust was in place, his weapon fitted onto his hip, his sidearm and grapple in their places. Everything was correct, so all that remained was to simply wait for his assigned partner to arrive, and so Argent walked over to the nearest tree, leaning up against it to relax for the time being.

"Hmmmmm..." Ciela scanned the treeline, looking for the place. She'd been assigned to meet with her new partner for their entrance exam, and then after that they'd move in together. She'd already taken the liberty of creating a few acceptable decorative arrangements for the room they'd be shared. She wondered what kind of person she'd gotten paired up with. Luckily, there weren't any Krahe in the area, so she was free to cruise leisurely, following the gold line her goggles were painting in the air for her.
Apparently some sort of big badass Grimm still had a weapon stuck in its butt or some such place, and they had to go get it. Ciela had a few questions; like why send freshmen after a Grimm that clearly had already injured or killed at least one, presumably way better, Hunter, but what the hell. It was gonna be great fun. Her goggles gave her a proximity warning, and she saw it; a clearing in the canopy. After another quick check, she pulled up, spun, and flipped over, grinning.
"COMIN' IN HOT!" She screamed down into the clearing, before doing exactly that, igniting her pack and rocketing down into the clearing like the judgment of God Himself. The moment she cleared the treeline she snapped her wings into an angle, decelerating her enough to safely land about five feet from Argent with a dramatic flourish, wings spread and striking a pose... Before she looked up and realized he had like two feet on her. Because of course he did.

As Argent finally began to relax, his ears twitched and the fur of his tail stiffened as he heard the sound of something flying towards him. Placing his hand on the hilt of his sword, his eyes narrowed, and just as he prepared to draw, the source of the sound landed before him, in a dramatic flair.
The source, a young woman with vibrant pink hair and a pair of massive metal wings, stood posed before him, and Argent's hand never left his sword as he eyed her up and down. He was always wary of unknowns, and this young woman suddenly appearing before him was highly suspect...until he remembered why he was there. She must have been who he was waiting for, and he sighed as he dropped his hand from his sword, still on guard but not openly hostile.
"Didn't know they made flyin' humans these days. D' they come in quieter models?" Sarcasm dripped heavy in his tone, as he looked around the sky. "See any signs of what we're s'posed to kill on your way here? Instructor said to keep an eye on the sky, but I'm not sure what for."

Ciela's left eye twitched a little bit at the mention of "quieter models". She pushed her goggles up and rose, hovering to be eye-level with Argent, which left her about a foot and change off the floor. "I'm Ciela. Ciela Azurios. Nice to meet you, what's your name? And no, I didn't see anything. I was approaching above the treeline mostly, so it might be hiding somewhere beneath."
So they'd given her someone tall as a partner. She'd requested someone short, and it seems her request had gone ignored. Maybe because she'd shouted it at Ser Ash while flying by during one of her little cartwheeling sessions between classes. She hovered a circle around him, studying him from several angles. Her eyes widened when she saw the tail, slowly approaching it with a hand outstretched. "Fluffy..."

Argent's eyes narrowed in annoyance as the short girl floated up to him, getting a bit too close for his taste. He sighed, trying to turn away, before she spoke and got his attention. "Argent. Anythin' else's irrelevant." He kept his introduction short and sharp, before she started circling around him, which caused even further irritation.
Argent wanted to simply get on with their mission, but his apparent partner seemed to have other ideas. Just as he was about to speak, he heard the word "fluffy" come of out her mouth, and quickly snapped around, lashing out his arm to grab her wrist. "Rule number one. Never touch the tail." Before he could continue, a loud sound echoed around them, trees shaking and birds flying out in frantic attempts to escape the source.
"Damn, seems our target found us first."

Ciela snapped her goggles back up into place, looking up and grinning. "Awesome." She rapidly ascended about a foot, far enough to break Argent's grip, wings ready. She rose about ten feet off the ground, handle snapping out behind her head, just in case. She'd probably still need her wings, since their target could be really fast or a flyer. But it was nice to have options.
Argent, huh? Faunus, so he likely had much sharper hearing than she did. "Can you figure out which direction its coming from? I can't see anything yet." Hopefully he didn't take offense; he seemed kinda thin-skinned, which was going to make living with him... interesting. She was still trying to get over the fact that she had a male partner. But these things happened on occasion, even if her parents and just about anyone she'd spoken to hoped she'd get a female partner. Why not make the metaphorical lemonade?

Argent turned to the north, growling a bit. "North, it seems. Can't tell how far." His Aura flared to life, his tail slipping free of the clip to swish around behind him. Taking stance, he prepared for the enemy to burst from the trees, only to hear a loud crack, followed by the fluttering of feathers and the boom of wingbeats. "Oh son of a bitch, had to be one o' those."
Soaring in the air above the trees was a Krahe, relatively small, but still massive to the two students, with a sword sticking out of its chest, causing obvious pain but not stopping the Grimm from its rampage. Spotting Celia first, the avian monster started diving straight at her, eyes trained at its quarry and determined to strike true.
Argent, still on the ground, swore a bit more under his breath, before running at the nearest tree, beginning to climb to get closer to the target. If he managed to save Celia, well, then that would be a bonus, but with how flying Grimm tended to be, he wasn't sure he'd be able to do much.

Celia's eyes practically lit up like Christmas when she saw their target was a Krahe. She grinned, a manic expression that honestly would have looked just as at home on the face of a serial killer. "Now this is my kind of mission!" She yelled, watching the Krahe dive at her and counting off seconds. One one thousand, two one thousand, three one thousand... she thought to herself, until the Krahe was almost too close to comfort. At that exact moment she ignited her pack at full power, carrying her up above the Grimm and hopefully sending it crashing to the floor.
Ciela continued to ascend, getting a good bit of height on the bird-like beast, before turning over so she was facing head-down, snapping her wings out forward and turning herself to a nine-foot long flying spear. The razor sharp points of her wings right through the thing's chest should finish it quickly, as she fell toward it. However, she was still careful; she wasn't going her max speed. In fact, her thrusters were barely firing; most of her momentum was gravity carrying her down, hurty-bits first.
She noticed Argent climbing, and started devising a plan in her mind. She filed it away after a brief consideration; there would be time enough to consider plans. Right now, it was time to kill a Grimm.

The Krahe, having missed its target, screamed out, quickly changing its trajectory to turn the dive into a swoop, rising back into the air. Argent, taking his chance, leaped at the beast quickly drawing his sword and slashed at it, aiming for the Grimm's wing to cripple it. The Krahe, noticing this, tilted to the side, causing Argent to miss and merely gash its leg.
However, Argent's attack was enough of a distraction the it failed to notice Celia's dive. Luckily for it, the tilt caused her aim to be off, taking a chunk of its left wing instead of piercing its chest. With a loud, blood-curdling screech, it shot back upward, well out of Argent's range.
Argent, meanwhile, went into free fall, not being very far from the ground, and landed hard on his feet, getting a running start to climb another tree. This time, he had a plan based on the injuries it had sustained, and he shouted out to his partner. "Take out the other wing! We need t' knock this bastard outta the sky!"
As soon as he had a solid position, Argent began lining up his left arm with the Krahe, keeping a trace on it as it moved, but doing nothing else.

Ciela cackled aloud as she ripped a hole through the Grimm, practically drinking in the screech of pain it let out. She quickly snapped her wings back out, landing a little harder than she'd have liked on her legs, and would have done a dramatic bow... had the Grimm not made another sound and let her know it was still alive. She whipped around, staring up at the Krahe which now only had one working wing. Her left eye twitched slightly behind her goggles.
By the time she heard Argent's comment, Ciela was already zooming past the treeline, screaming in rage. "YOU DON'T GET TO DODGE ME, YOU SHIT!" She roared, flipping around to be above the Grimm and swinging one of her wing edges at its uninjured wing. If her goggles didn't already give the world a slightly blue tint, she'd likely be seeing red. She noticed Argent out the corner of her eye, not doing anything. She would've shouted something, but she reminded herself not everyone could fly.
