Aegle was crestfallen, so much so that she scarcely even noticed when Ara moved to head of their formation. All that flitted through her orange haired head was a soul deep sense of disappointment. While she'd never actually fought a deatheater before, she knew what they were, and couldn't possibly think of a more underwhelming opponent to come up against. Well, at least that's how it seemed to her in the moment. Aegle had spent more time than was prudent speculating on what they might come up against, and the wanderings of her mind had constructed intricate and frenetic frays to test her mettle. She'd imagined beowolves as far as the eye could see, and great hulking death stalkers with pincers like guillotines and stingers like spears. She'd imagined coming up against a monstrous king taijitu, with its two massive heads and sword sized fangs. Even a nevermore would have been more exciting, with their razor sharp pinions and murderous beaks. What even was a deatheater, if not a centipede which had just gotten too big? Where was the fun in squashing an oversized bug? Neverminding the fact that Deathstalkers were also just 'oversized bugs', and that each encounter she'd had with one been fraught with peril, Aegle wallowed in her self pity. At least until Ara spoke up and drew attention to the fact that she'd taken point. Seeing the girl with the silver eyes in the lead promptly snapped Aegle out of her funk and she hurried to catch up. To the accompaniment of more muffled, mechanized protests from underneath her winterized outfit, Aegle loped up alongside Ara and cast a broad, guileless grin up at the taller girl. "S'quite a nice sword ya got there." She said in a friendly tone, having made precisely zero effort to moderate her boisterous and easily projected voice. It was evident from her attempt to engage in a conversation with Ara that she had taken the silver eyed girl's words, moments prior, as an indication that she wanted to talk. In fact, after being next to silent for pretty much the whole trip, Ara's few clipped words had been all but an invitation for Aegle to finally satisfy her curiosity about the girl with the mercurial eyes. "Kinda funny lookin' though, don'tcha think? What's it do?" Aegle asked, her open-faced grin redoubling in its intensity. "Y'know, 'side from stabbin' stuff." Despite the fact that swords had been the first weapon type she'd tried her clumsy hand at, Aegle had been ironically inclined towards those which required strength over technique and, thus, preferred those of the slashing variety. She had seen very few rapier style swords, fewer still in use, and had never actually handled one herself.
It was fairly apparent that Aegle was unfazed by the fact that the five of them were walking towards a fight. In fact, it was a detail she seemed determined to ignore as she tried to strike up a conversation with the mysterious Ara. Where everyone else had at least checked their weapons, the orange haired girl had just continued to amble noisily along, lugging the impractically heavy case which housed her own gear. That they may be set upon at any moment by something quite large with too many legs had apparently not necessitated preparing her own weapon for use. Of course, anyone who had seen or, more precisely, heard Aegle's weapon in action would likely have been grateful for the discretion, uncharacteristic though it was, of this decision That being said, none present had actually ever seen Aegle use the Oupis, so her failure to secure her weapon probably just came off as blithe incompetence. Which, given that she was speaking very loudly in a cave network inhabited by a deatheater, a territorial on at that, was not an entirely unfair assumption to make.

Dusty tensed up slightly when Aisio grabbed his shoulder and began speaking to him. He still didn't like the idea of her recognizing him when he wasn't sure of her stance towards former enemies and he really didn't want to find her sword anywhere in his torso. He gave a nervous laugh while he raised his arms in a shrugging gesture. "Oh, who even knows, right? Think of how many blond guys with blue eyes live in Remnant. You've probably seen a lot of guys like me," he said, waving his hand dismissively. He nodded in agreement with the older woman. "Yeah. No need to get distracted."
Dusty followed Aisio into the cave, drawing Ardu and Leagtha and snapping them together into Daybreaker as he did. He began tapping away at buttons on his bracer, setting up arrows for him to use when they inevitably found the creature. "It's one hell of a weapon," he commented as he looked around at the black gash marks. "If its that pistol you were talking about, it might just sway me to add a little bit of gunpowder to my arsenal." Dusty grinned, a mischievous glint in his eyes. He couldn't deny it. He really wanted that weapon. Just imagining what he could accomplish with a pistol that backed the punch of a missile launcher gave him chills.

[attr="class","notafraid"] [attr="class","naimg"] [attr="class","naimgborder"] [attr="class","nalyrics"]Mirror, tell me something tell me who's the loneliest of all? [attr="class","nabody"]Having taken the lead, Ara navigated with the group through the twisted corridors of the cave. She wasn’t one hundred percent sure what direction they should be heading, but opted to take the route that was more dug out every time they came to a fork. Her reason for this was, simply put, that the path that was more dug out likely reached where they were going in the first place. At the end, hopefully, was the object they had been sent to recover. Ara sighed, a little off-put by Aisio’s unwillingness to take back the lead of the group. It was…distressing. Aegle coming out of nowhere startled the silver-eyed girl, causing her to tense up almost immediately. "S'quite a nice sword ya got there." The orange-haired deviant (and she considered the term “orange-haired” to contrast between it and Aisio’s actual red hair) commented, clearly regarding Occam at her side. Ara rolled her eyes, settling them down on the sword as the girl continued speaking. "Kinda funny lookin' though, don'tcha think? What's it do? Y'know, 'side from stabbin' stuff." It was actually a pretty good question from someone that didn’t really know her, so Ara figured she’d throw young Aegle a bone and answer. “First off, thank you. This is Occam, the family sword of the Eisold family.” She replied, drawing the sword and holding it up with a proud grin. “Overall, it’s a rather plain sword. Stabbing, cutting - all that fun stuff. It’s how I use it that makes it more than that.” Ara let the sword slip back into its clip on her belt, then pointed at the pendant of Water Dust around her neck. Her Aura, similar in color to her hair, fluttered as the Dust began to glow - a baseball sized droplet forming in one of her hands. The glow of the Dust disappeared, but she retained the ball of water as it hovered over her palm. “My Semblance is kind of like normal Dust use, but much more efficient and powerful.” She continued. “For example, without Air Dust, it should be impossible for me to do this.” The ball immediately crystallized into a massive hunk of ice, still floating over her hand as if under some spell. The only discernible difference is her Aura being a little more dull. “And with hunk of ice here, without Ice Dust it would be impossible for me to do something like this.” The ball began to spin violently, as if by a machine, as it was trimmed with great precision into the shape of a blade. She dusted some of the flakes off her coat, then sent the ice blade flying into the wall of the cave. “I can also use Kaleidoscope - my Semblance - through my sword.” She finally said, the proud smile still on her face. “So stuff like that, I guess, is what I can do with my sword.” She turned back to look towards Aisio, stopping for a moment to wave her down. “Hey, Aisio!” She shouted. “Are we going the right way or what?” [attr="class","natag"]550 ● Aegle Vitus ● bragging rights [attr="class","cred"]MADE BY VEL OF WW + GS[newclass=.notafraid]width:460px;background:#fefefe;border:1px solid #eee;[/newclass] [newclass=.naimg]background:url('http://ultraimg.com/images/2016/08/10/1xss.jpg');width:400px;height:200px;margin-top:30px;[/newclass] [newclass=.naimgborder]width:375px;height:175px;border:4px #fefefe solid;background:transparent;margin-top:-191px;[/newclass] [newclass=.nalyrics]font-family:georgia;font-size:15px;text-transform:uppercase;[/newclass] [newclass=.nabody]width:400px;font-family:verdana;font-size:10px;line-height:14px;letter-spacing:1px;text-align:justify;color:#888;[/newclass] [newclass=.natag]font-size:9px;color:#aaa;text-align:center;text-transform:lowercase;[/newclass] [newclass=.cred]text-align:center;font-size:6pt;color:rgb(132, 132, 132);letter-spacing:1px;font-family:verdana;[/newclass] [newclass=.cred a]color:rgb(132, 132, 132);font-size:6pt;letter-spacing:1px;font-family:verdana;[/newclass]

Aisio continued following after the group of students, mesmerized by the soot on the wall and the cuts that it was in. When Dusty brought up that he wished it was Caliburn, she shook her head and laughed gently. "I'm afraid this doesn't look like damage caused by a pistol, even one with the sheer power of Caliburn. No, this looks like some form of slashing weapon, and one with incredible strength. To be able to tear through stone with what looks like little resistance. It is simply incredible." She ran her hand through another of the gouges, marveling at the smoothness within it. It was possible these marks were created by the Grimm, sure, but the soot within them indicated at least a little influence from this heat based weapon they were hunting. "When we find this weapon, I will be taking it back to Legion so my best researchers can decipher how it works. Then we will see about having the appropriate hunter, or student, use it."
She watched on as Ara demonstrated her abilities, marveling at the power within her semblance. When she called back to Aisio, the winged huntress nodded and spoke. "It would seem that way, my scouts didn't go far into the cave, but I presume if we follow the soot we should find our weapon." A gentle rumble began under them, not strong enough to push anyone off their feet but enough to be noticeable. Aisio herself flapped her wings once and began hovering gently over the ground. A screech, interspersed with clacking, echoed through the cave from a distance as the pathway leveled out. At the far end of the light from Aisio and her wings the tight cave expanded and opened, the only visible thing the lack of a top layer of rock. "It seems we have arrived. I suggest you all prepare for combat students, the creature will likely not be pleased at us trespassing into its territory." Aisio reached into her trench coat and pulled out Flamelash, the golden revolver glistening within her self created light. The red crystal contained in its glass cylinder glowed with a gentle red light within its chamber. She wasn't supposed to join them in fight unless she had to, but that didn't mean she wouldn't be ready.

"Neat~" Aegle remarked succinctly at Ara's description of her sword. Then, feeling her response had been inadequate, she solemnly added, "S'a real fancy sword after all." Though possibly a bit vapid an observation to make, the orange haired girl seemed unusually sincere with it. Which she was. Her family didn't have a family sword, after all, and Aegle hadn't really met anyone who had inherited their weapon before. Even if it was kind of mundane in its use, it still had to be pretty special to get passed down through the generations. She actually might have asked about that too, if Ara hadn't immediately begun a more long winded explanation of her own fighting style and capabilities. As interested as she might have been to know what made Occum special enough to be inherited, Aegle wasn't about to refuse someone intent on describing their semblance.
"Gosh..." though she made no attempt to mask her confusion and possible lack of comprehension where Ara's explanation on her weapons and abilities were concerned, Aegle could at least appreciate that it all sounded quite impressive. What mattered more to Aegle than the words Ara used, was the confidence and apparent familiarity she had in those words. Given her usual inability to make heads or tails of the more technical things people told her, it was just quicker and easier to trust that the people speaking knew what they were talking about and that it all somehow made sense. Nothing Ara did following her explanation disabused the orange combed girl of this conclusion either, even if Aegle wasn't an avid enough dust user to know any of the more complicated combinations different sorts of dust afforded. "That sure sounds super useful." Aegle offered Ara a confident smile as she spoke. Her intention was to reassure the silver eyed girl more than it was to conceal her cavernous lack of comprehension regarding what Ara had said, but if she failed to notice Aegle's ignorance, that would also suit the orange haired girl just fine. She appreciated the fact that it could be used to make weapons, at least, even if she wasn't sure what was so special about making ice in the boreal fields surrounding Legion. The stuff was literally everywhere, after all.
Aegle glanced back with Ara when she turned her silver eyes back on their chaperone, and her smile immediately redoubled when the huntress confirmed the course. Promptly, her fickle attention was returned to the task at hand and she was reminded that she might get to fight something soon. Had Aisio's affirmation not renewed her interest in finding and punching something with entirely too many legs, however, the rumbling that shook through the tunnel would have. "Oh wow..." She said following the small tremor and less small screech, before looking excitedly at Ara and Dusty in turn. "D'ya think that was it?" She asked nobody in particular, appearing wholly genuine in her inquiry, as though there could be any doubt after what they'd just heard and felt. "It seems we have arrived. I suggest you all prepare for combat students, the creature will likely not be pleased at us trespassing into its territory." Though Aisio's words might not have been directed specifically at Aegle, the orange haired girl seemed to take them as such. "On it~" She called back at the huntress, in perfect imitation of a young, eager to please child, along with all the volume that such an imitation might imply. Then, before anyone else could advise her otherwise, Aegle turned back to the tunnel's exit and stomped loudly down the short slope leading up to it. Before she got there, she tossed down the heavy steel case she'd been lugging around with her and kicked a small button on its front. Immediately, the case unfolded into a skeletal metal frame, not unlike those which might support one of Legion's many automated soldiers. Just like its owner, the strange device made no concessions towards either silence or stealth, and its transformation was both loud and piercing, like numerous heavy duty power drills all being run in tandem. Aegle barely waited for the Oupis to signal its ready status, which it did with one final chime that echoed sharply through the tunnels, before she threw herself into it. At once, the heavy duty shrieking resumed as Aegle pulled mechanically assisted joints into motion. Without waiting for the others, she bounded into the opening of the cavern beyond, loud enough to wake the dead and bright enough to be seen from orbit.
It seemed she had greatly misinterpreted Aisio's advice for caution and readiness, because she burst into the darkness beyond the huntress' light as though she expected a fight. This fact became even more apparent when Aegle, upon turning on a pair of operations lights that overlooked either of her shoulders, shouted into the gathering dark. "Alright you big nasty bug!" She shrieked, her voice somehow louder and more piercing than it had been even in the storm outside. While her lights weren't necessarily intended for such pervasive darkness, Aegle scanned her surroundings with them and made herself an even more obvious target. "Get your big bug butt out here so I can whup it!"
