Dusty stands at a moderate five feet and nine inches tall and weighs 197 pounds. Dusty was born the youngest of three boys to Jet and Amra Ghrian in the kingdom of Setek. His father and mother worked as hunters and trappers for their hometown and, when each boy came of age, they took their sons out with them their days off from school to teach them the skills and knowledge they knew.Their parents expected the three boys to follow in their footsteps and become hunters, as well, and who could blame them given the natural talent they displayed. Shane Ghrian, the oldest of the three, was easily the best trapper of the three, constructing traps so well hidden and effective, people sometimes managed to get caught in them when they went into the woods surrounding the town. Tommie Ghrian, the second eldest, was the best hunter, able to move quietly across the forest floor and capable of tracking prey for miles on end. Both were shining examples of what hunters were supposed to be.
And then, there was Dusty.
Dusty was neither an amazing trapper or a skilled hunter. The traps his constructed often broke, didn't work, or accidentally sprung early and trapped him and, while fairly accurate with a bow and arrow, Dusty couldn't stay quiet no matter how hard he tried and watching the prey he had been stalking flee when he got close frustrated him too much to shoot accurately. The lack of skill he displayed slowly, but surely, pushed the young boy to the background and out of the spotlight, leaving him only in the shadows of his older brothers.
Years went by, with Dusty trying everything he could to gain his parent's attention and approval and, to a lesser extent, outshine his brothers as the most talented of the three. Nothing ever seemed to work for him, though. His parents wanted their sons to be incredible hunters. And, after a sudden, but minor, Grimm attack that was fended off with little to no trouble, Dusty got an idea. If he couldn't be a great hunter, then he'd be a great Hunter. He tracked down one of his town's resident Hunter, Desiree Sharpe, and begged her to teach him what she knew. Desiree agreed, but warned him that the training would be difficult and dangerous. He agreed without hesitation and at age thirteen, Dusty began his training to become a Hunter.
For the next four years, Dusty trained with Desiree in the basics of combat and Aura manipulation after helping him unlock his aura. She had informed him that she would only teach him the skills and knowledge that he needed to, at the very least, not die and that if he wanted to become a truly powerful Hunter, Dusty would need to attend Vytal Academy. Dusty, of course, agreed without hesitation, to which she promptly replied for him to get going and take the entrance exam, sending him off with his current weapon, Daybreaker.

★ COMBAT NOTES
WEAPONS
Daybreaker, or Ardu and Leagtha, depending on how Dusty wants to fight at the moment, is his primary set of weaponry. It consists of a recurve bow constructed from a strong and sturdy, yet flexible, gold colored metal with the handle being made of the same metal, but bound in leather for better grip. If he should ever have to go into melee combat, Dusty can press a button on the shaft of the bow and separate it into two different pieces, cut off at the center of the grip. The upper and lower limbs of the bow compact into themselves and change into two long bladed knives, named Ardu and Leagtha respectively. Dusty can put the two blades back together by putting the pommel of each knife against the other, clicking them back into place and reforming Daybreaker.
Of course, a bow is useless without some arrows to fire. That’s why Dusty carries a rather large quiver of arrows on his back. The quiver rotates each arrow around into the most comfortable spot for him to reach. With the push of a button on his left gauntlet, he can rotate a small section of his quiver around and inject the leading arrow with whatever liquid form of Dust he desires at a moment’s notice.
Dust Arrows:
- Fire: Create explosions wherever the arrow lands for more offensive attacks - 3 Aura
- Water: Create whirlpools and waves of water to distract the opponent - 3 Aura
- Earth: Create stone pillars and walls to slow down opponents and give himself ledges to gain vantage points, as well as creating small earthquakes in a small area - 3 - 6 Aura, depending on the height of the pillar or strength of the earthquake
- Energy: Used to create electric traps that can stun the opponent and be used in conjunction with Water arrows to cover larger areas with an electrical trap - 3 Aura
- Ice: Create icy patches beneath opponents feet to trip them up or trap them in icy prisons for a short time - 3 Aura for patches, 5 Aura for traps
- Kinetic: Used to make “super arrows” that shoot faster and hit harder than regular arrows - 3 Aura
- Gravity: Used to increase or decrease gravity in an area, depending on what he wants to happen. Increased gravity can pin the opponent in place and decreased causes them to float in the air - 5 - 10 Aura depending on the range away from him

Dusty's aura is a bright yellow aura that simply glows softly around him, though the brightness can be turned up with a bit of concentration. It gives off a very warm and comforting feeling, much akin to a nice spring day. The faint smell of aloe vera and vapo rub wafts around him, leaving people who come close to him with the pleasant feeling of healthiness for a short time. He has the aura abilities of illumination and Mending. Mending, 5 Aura per use, and Illumination, 2 Aura per post used.
HEART OF DARKNESS
Dusty semblance possesses the ability to alter and manipulate shadows. When he utilizes his semblance, his eyes shift from blue to jet black and feelings of inadequacy and insecurity can be felt by everyone in a small area around him. Shadows in a much larger area around him begin rippling and look as if they were moving towards Dusty ever so slightly. From there, he can use shadows for a few different purposes.
Shadows Sight - 3 Aura on use
The simplest use of his semblance. Dusty takes a small amount of shadow and tosses it towards his opponent, where it explodes and blinds them, working somewhat like a reverse flashbang by blacking out his opponent's vision rather than whiting it out. He can use Daybreaker to help to extend the range of the ball of shadow
Fingers in the Dark - 7 Aura on use
With a little bit more concentration and effort, Dusty can manipulate people's shadows to reach up and grab onto their ankles and feet for the purposes of slowing and distracting his opponents.
Your Own Worst Enemy - 10-40 Aura depending on use
Requires Dusty's full attention and contact with the ground. Dusty can make people's shadows rise up off of the ground and solidify into shadowy mimics under his control. They can only copy the original's fighting style and match their physical prowess, but cannot utilize the original's auras or semblances. Can be used on up to four opponents.
In My Shadow - 70 Aura on use
Requires Dusty's full attention and contact with the ground. By gathering up as many shadows as he can in an area, Dusty can create a giant, shadowy mimic of himself with incredible strength and defense.
