03/02/X1
The wind howled over the snow covered plains, sun peeking through the clouds at irregular intervals. The rolling white along the sky shrouded the stark white fields in regular shadow, occasionally bathing it in a yellow glow. This far away from Legion, one is more likely to find a creature of Grimm then any sentient life, such as human or faunus. However today was different, as the Pendragon with flaming hair, Aisio, led a group of four students through this dangerous land. Their goal was a cave, one they were rapidly approaching and rumored to contain a weapon of incredible power. The snow covering the area was shockingly packed, allowing a rather easy means of travel. Clearly defined footprints marked the path they had traveled, and Aisio held the broken blade of Excalibur, already alight with flames to brighten their path. The huntress with hair like flames and eyes that burn looked at the four students following her, making note of each of them.
"Dusty Ghrian, Ara Eisold, Hiroko Masuya, Aegle Vitus. I'm glad the four of you decided to come on this mission. If you didn't know, I was one of the people who helped find this weapon. There were some files stored in one of my storage rooms that narrowed the search to this general area." Aisio called back to all of them, trying to make sound other then the wind roaring around them. She knew she wouldn't be fighting in this mission, at least not if she didn't have to, but these conditions would make it a little harder to fly. The scabbard of Excalibur rested upon her back, and Flamelash was under her trench coat as usual. She was wearing her leather armor, the same she wore in the Siege of Rift, and as her eyes passed over Dusty she felt like she'd seen him before. Her eyes lingered on the boy for a few seconds before she decided it was just a trick of the mind. He, however, would likely not have an issue recognizing as the one standing beside Chairmen Barnett as he removed the King's head.
Aisio's mind, while on the past, was not on the Siege. Instead it was on what she heard of the Waters of Life incident, of the sacrifice of Professor Rose. Aisio remembered her, she had become the combat teacher during her sophomore year at Vytal, and had been extremely harsh on Aisio. Instead of dwelling on that though, her hand clenched around the hilt of her blade as she spoke at the students she was leading. "As you are fully aware, I will not be assisting in any combat we may encounter, unless your lives depend on it. I'll be monitoring your aura levels and if anyone gets too hurt I'll interfere and attempt to save them. That being said, you are receiving school credit for this, or rather you will if you succeed. If I'm forced to help, that will be considered a failure for you no matter the outcome. I wish you the best of luck." Aisio nodded at the students, her feet trudging in the snow as she continued towards their destination. They were almost there, just a couple more minutes of walking. How she wished she could just fly there and be done with it, but this was a learning mission for the students. The only reason Aisio was there was as backup, and because she wanted to see this weapon firsthand.

Trudging through the snow not more than a few steps behind Aisio was a diminutive student even smaller than the already petite huntress. Weighed down as she was, with a steel backpack slung heavily across her crooked shoulders, Aegle had kept remarkable pace with the briskly moving huntress ever since they'd first stepped off the airship. While she might not have moved so assuredly as the older woman who she followed, there was a confidence to her movements which left no doubt as to why she'd made sure to keep close. If anything happen, she fully intended to be front and center. "You're not gonna fight with us?" She asked, her pitched voice slicing through the howling wind as effortlessly as a hot knife through wax. It was apparent that her burden had not left her so out of breath as to disallow use of her infamously powerful lungs. Aegle was dressed a bit differently than her usual academy attire. When she'd first learned they would be heading to Legion, she'd made sure to dress as warmly as certain limitations of her weaponry would allow, and had thus garbed herself in a long overcoat which fit overtop her usual hoodie and cargo shorts. Her hands too were clothed in more than her typical handwraps, over top of which had been tugged a pair of mittens. The mittens were a faded black, and the coat, a somewhat pungent shade of burgundy. Topping the eclectic fashion of her attire was a orange beanie and a pair of what might have been welding goggles, whose dark lenses had been replaced with a less oppressively tinted glass. With the final addition of the metal case slung hap-hazardly over one shoulder, she looked quite strange indeed, as she hobbled up beside the heiress. She cast a pair of emerald eyes, startling in their apparent sincerity, up at the only slightly taller huntress and was, seemingly, quite concerned for her. "But you'll miss all the fun..." From just about anyone else, such tactless bargaining might have been taken for an attempt to earn the assistance of a far more experienced hunter. From Aegle, whose face as as open and guileless as a coloring book, it appeared she genuinely thought Aisio would be missing out.
The pair had shared few words on there trip through the boreal badlands. In fact, those dozen words were pretty much the most Aegle had said to Aisio since the two had first been introduced on the transport that had brought them here. Oh, she'd said plenty since then, making observations about the weather and trite remarks about how she'd never been in this particular part of Legion before, but none of it had been directed specifically at Aisio, or any other member of their party for that matter. Instead, each time Aegle had spoken, it had seemed as though she would have had just as worthwhile a time conversing with thin air. Adjusting the single shoulder strap which held her steel case in place, Aegle redirect her attention to the packed snow beneath their feet, which she tried to pick her way across with limited success. It certainly seemed like she wasn't the sort of person who could talk and walk at the same time. At least, not without considerable effort. "Don't worry." She piped finally, with glancing back up at the huntress, "I'll try to save somethin' for ya. Sharing is caring~" Her subsequent grin was quashed a moment later when, stepping over a patch of snow more uneven than most, she clipped one of her boots and stumbled dramatically. She caught herself quickly, and quickly looked back up at Aisio to resume her grin, which meant she didn't see the stone that also nearly tripped her. After that, even Aegle was able to spot the developing pattern, and the pintsized huntress decided her attention was best left on the path ahead.
Even the threat of falling couldn't keep Aegle quiet for long, however. Though she maintained an assiduous gaze on the path ahead, her slightly shrill voice once again rose up over the howling wind. "What sorta weapon is it, anyway?" She asked nobody in particular, "S'it like a sword or somethin'?" After a moment to consider and a couple more steps, Aegle warmed to the idea, "I bet it's a sword." she said with absolute certainty. "Some big, mean thing that ya gotta be wicked jacked to swing." Grinning wolfishly at the notion, the emerald eyed girl glanced back at the three students trailing behind her, presumably to see if they agreed with her. She obviously hadn't been paying very close attention when the details of their mission had been explained to all of them.

Dusty stepped through the snow, the wind ruffling his hair and with a decent amount of space between himself and the rest of the group for a few reasons. First and foremost, Aegle's shrill voice was so loud it was drowning out everything else. The young man knew all to well what happened in the woods when you didn't pay attention and listen for the telltale noises of wild animals like wolves and, worse yet, Grimm. He was half tempted to yell at the younger girl to shut up so they could listen for the sounds around them, but the second reason kept his mouth shut. He didn't want to attract unnecessary attention to himself from Aisio, lest her memory come back to her and she recognize him from the Siege of Rift. He had easily recognized her, given how she was hailed as a hero for being instrumental in the execution of Rift's King. It had been a while since the battle, but Dusty didn't want to risk her suddenly accusing him as being an enemy of Legion and going after his head, too.
Dusty managed to tread very lightly in the snow, even with his gear all strapped on. He was wearing his usual metal cuirass and bracers with his fingerless gloves on his hands. Over that, he had his bomber jacket zipped up with his bandolier full of Steam and Glass Dust bottles hooked onto them and his quiver attached to his back, sixty arrows primed and ready for use. Ardu and Leagtha were sheathed in the twin scabbards on his back. His glasses also weren't fogging up this time, as he'd had a little bit of Ice Dust mixed into the glass to keep the lenses the same temperature as the air around them. He wasn't wearing his usual jeans, though. He had put on cargo pants with the bottoms tucked into his boots and the entire ensemble was reminiscent of what he used to where on hunting trips with his parents and brothers. Except this time, he was just as easily armed for war as he was for hunting deer, so he didn't much mind Aisio saying she was going to avoid helping them fight any Grimm that attack.
Dusty watched Aegle take a spill and shook his head with an exasperated sigh. "You know, predators usually target the most frail animal in the group, Aegle," he commented, kicking aside the rock she's tripped on. "And Grimm are some nasty predators and they don't hunt alone." Dusty's comment was sort of a half threat, half warning, but the message was clear: Be quiet.

The currently freezing and furious freshman who had made sure to hurry off the airship as fast as she could manage to get off of that smelly hunk of junk had fallen into step directly behind Aegle as the group made its way through the apparent blizzard toward their ultimate destination, the cave. The Masuya family's youngest daughter was not in the best of moods. Her father had prepared her for a good deal of the trials and tribulations of becoming a Hunter, but the howling, icy wind whipping against one's skin wasn't exactly a sensation one can re-create in a training room or library. The weather on its own would've been enough to make the silver-haired new-blood miserable but it was becoming increasingly obvious that she had signed up for a mission with a team that was... chatty.
Aisio's instructions had been clear enough. There was no reason for any discussion further than that. Their objective had been plainly stated, and the mission parameters had been set. As of this point, they should have been listening and watching, paying attention to the world around them, staying situationally aware. Instead, this 'Aegle' creature and her offensive hair-do were screeching like a banshee every couple of seconds like clockwork, her voice somehow more cutting and painful than the frigid whirlwind they were battling with every step. Finally unable to retain silence, Hiroko barked out, her bratty tone doing an equally effective job of cutting through the howling winds as Aegle's high-pitched shrieking. "Oh my god, will you shut your mouth?" Hiroko made a tch noise with her tongue, eyes boring into the back of Aegle's head as the group trudged forward, the freshman finding herself increasingly irritated with the student in front of her as Aegle nearly tripped more than once over a series of pathetic bumps on their trail. "Dusty is correct. Grimm hunt in packs. And those packs have excellent hearing. And that excellent hearing will home right in on us if we do not stay quiet and keep our ears open. This isn't recess. This is a mission. Quit screwing around!"
Far too self-absorbed to realize how big of a hypocrite she was being, Hiroko crossed her arms, shivering momentarily between steps as she struggled to maintain the level of petty anger she was exhibiting for the sake of trying to sound like she knew her stuff when it came to being a Hunter. After all, there was a Pendragon here, and Hiroko's father had always told her to be at her very very best if she ever were to encounter someone from that particular family. "Besides, Aisio just told you why she isn't going to fight with us. Because we'd fail the mission if she did. So who cares what the weapon is? Our mission instructions are clear. There's no point wasting time, energy, or breath on daydreaming." Scowling, Hiroko decided she was done with her temper tantrum her arms still crossed tightly over her chest as she lowered her head, eyes staring down to try and shield them from the wind that was making her face start to hurt. The girl's elegant attire might be a head-turner at formal functions, but it was proving to be less than practical when it came to dealing with high-speed winds and snow-battered fields.

[attr="class","notafraid"] [attr="class","naimg"] [attr="class","naimgborder"] [attr="class","nalyrics"]Mirror, tell me something tell me who's the loneliest of all? [attr="class","nabody"]It felt like a normal day in the Kingdom of Legion - or at least what Ara thought a normal day felt like. It was cool, slightly cloudy - in fact, now that she thought of it, the weather back in town seemed far more tame than in the outskirts. The sun peeked through the scattered clouds every so often, as if to spite the darkness that fell upon the group. There were five of them: Aisio Pendragon, Dusty Ghrian, Aegle Vitus, and Hiroko Masuya - oh, and herself, too. Ara was outfitted in an inverted style of her school uniform, and had her sword - Occam - fastened to a loop at her waist. Per usual, she also kept her Water Dust pendant, as well as a few crystals of primary element Dust, in a small satchel attached to her sword’s loop. If a fight came, she’d be ready. Aisio Pendragon, the Huntress from Legion and overseer of the mission, gave them a brief rundown of the mission. It was a simple one, or so it sounded. Search and secure, for the most part. As they walked, Ara kept her arms crossed, shivering a bit from the northern air’s bite. As the Huntress added more instruction to the mission, Ara fought every fiber of her being to prevent herself from rolling her eyes. Of course the Huntress wasn’t going to step in unless it was ”necessary”. With a light scoff under her breath, Ara continued shuffling through the snow as best she could. Part of her wished she would have understood the north’s environment a little better, something that would have spared her legs from the cold. With their chaperon leading the way, the rest of the students started to pipe up. First, it was Aegle, a girl Ara was very unfamiliar with. Her brow furrowed as the girl spoke, and as Dusty - followed by Hiroko - chimed in, she could have swore she could feel the vein in her head bulging. ’Idiots.’ She scolded them in her head. ’You’re all going to get us killed.’ Plowing through the snow, Ara gave her best effort to move closer to Dusty. Starting about a month ago, the two were roommates - along with Chrohn and Mizumi. As such, he was the only person she actually knew leading to her resolve to remain nearby. “Is this what you were expecting when you signed up for the mission?” She muttered quietly to him. “Seems like bad juju for everyone to be causing a ruckus already.”She shot casual glances towards the rest of the group, trying to “read” them to the best of her ability. What kind of people were these kids? Aegle didn’t seem like the sort Ara would interact with outside a mission. Aisio, perhaps, but one would argue that such a thing was only because of the renown tied to her family name. Ara shook her head slightly, grimacing at the idea of dying with some of these people. What a cruel, cruel twist of fate. The Hiroko girl, however, seemed like someone Ara might get along with. They seemed similar in some aspects, though the younger girl was seemed far more vociferous in regard to those aspects. “It’s going to be an interesting evening, Dusty.” Ara added in a monotonous tone, looking up towards the clouds with a tired sigh. Aisio smiled at Aegle's total optimism and eagerness to fight, though the clouds darkening overhead seemed to wish that optimism snuffed out. The genuine disappointment and sorrow at the thought of Aisio missing out on the fun of the fight caused her to laugh heartily. "Don't worry, I assure you I've had my fill of fun getting to this point. Don't hold back on my account." When Aegle asked about the weapon though, Aisio's eyes, already glowing crimson, lit with a fire of passion and curiosity. She didn't react to Aegle's blunder, confident the small student could correct herself, and she was correct about that. "The files were vague about the weapon, to be sure. All that I could gather was that it's a weapon from long ago, used by the hunters of old and able to melt a Grimm in a single strike. I, honestly hope it to be Caliburn, the legends say that pistol was able to shoot fire from its muzzle. However I know that's likely just wishful thinking." Aisio sighed, staring longingly at her broken sword as if lamenting its lack of a companion. Even still she smiled again and looked back at them, catching sight of Dusty saying something to Aegle. What it was didn't really matter to Aisio, though she once again found herself swearing she'd seen him before. She was shaken from her quizzical trance by Hiroko shouting at the lot of them, something that caused Aisio to smirk for a moment.
"I'm confident the four of you could handle any Grimm that decided to attack, no matter how they are drawn to us. Although there is wisdom in those words, we should try to keep the overly loud noises to a minimum." Seeing both Hiroko and Ara shiver and noting their outfits were, unsuited for this kind of environment, Aisio had to stifle a giggle. Sometimes she forgot that not everybody was accustomed to the blistering cold, and not everybody casually dressed to shield themselves from it. So as she was walking she called upon her semblance, crackling wings of flaming red sprouting from her back and folding, giving her the appearance of a fiery angel. They gave off enough heat to warm the students behind her, not much but enough to dull the cold air roaring against them. Although now that her wings were out she was feeling the pull of the wind more and more, even more reason for her not to go airborne. "I suppose since you failed to dress for the environment, my wings should keep you from freezing. At least for a little while, we're almost there."
The terrain was getting rockier and steeper as they walked, and the particularly astute would notice that they had begun to slowly ascend the side of a mountain. It took about a minute of climb before they came to the entrance of a dark cave, one that to a casual onlooker would have nothing special about it. But to Aisio, she recognized it as the cave the scouts had found, that was guarded by a particularly aggressive Deatheater. The strange claw marks along the entrance, the gouges tinted slightly black where the primary sign for her. She stopped and turned to the students following her, a small smile on her face as the flames of Excalibur vanished, and the sword was placed once more into its scabbard. "This is it. Apparently this cave is home to a Deatheater, and quite a large one at that. My best guess is it was drawn to this weapon and is keeping it as a trophy, guarding it inside its lair. In fact, I was told it's so protective of it, it even slaughters the Grimm that come near here, hence the reason why we were not bothered on the way here. I will stay close to provide light and warmth, and to assist should you need me, but do not count on my aid in the inevitable fight." With that she gestured towards the dark entrance of the cave, stepping aside to allow the others to pass. The sky was getting much darker at this point, the clouds covering the sun for longer and longer stretches of time.

Post by Aegle Vitus on Aug 15, 2016 20:47:09 GMT -6
Though she received ample assurances to the contrary, Aegle remained convinced that Aisio would be better off if they, as a team, let her have just a little bit of fun before they inevitably thumped whatever obstacles lay before them. It was a sentiment which the pintsized girl wore blatantly on her face, which broadcast impertinent uncertainty in response to the more experienced hunter's words. Still, Aegle didn't say anything more on the subject, and instead resolved to help include Aisio as much as she could over the course of the ensuing mission. The idea that Aisio was, in fact, a chaperone and not someone meant to be included in the festivities of combat, did not once occur to Aegle. She huffed softly and adjusted her case's strap where it dug into her bony shoulder, and gave the quartet accompanying her an appraising sweep with her emerald eyes. She knew little and less about the three other students than she did about Aisio, though that wasn't anything out of the ordinary. If there was anything Aegle was more infamous for than her lack of volume control, it was her total obliviousness to those around her. They all seemed nice enough, she'd decided while they were sharing the airship's cargo hold, even if none of them were particularly talkative. The blonde one, whose name she thought was Dusty, hadn't said much which Aegle had paid any attention to, but she had an overall positive impression of him. From what little she had gleaned from the very scance attention she'd paid him, he was pretty smart too, though a lot of that impression might have simply been due to the fact that he wore glasses. All in all, he seemed like the kind of person who would be fun to be around, if he weren't so serious about being on a mission. He also had really pretty eyes, though Aegle mostly avoided any further thoughts in that particular direction. Next there was Hiroko, whose name was so weird that even Aegle hadn't managed to forget it. Aegle had liked Hiroko pretty much the very instant she first laid eyes on the demure girl. Admittedly, a lot of Aegle's initial feelings on the subject were linked to the fact that Hiroko, too, was an especially short person. Still, she was also pretty and cultured and probably just as smart as Dusty was, so there was plenty to like about her other than her height. Lastly, there was the girl with the silver eyes. While Dusty's bright blues might have been pretty, Ara's had been nearly impossible to look away from when Aegle had first seen them; She'd never met anyone with silver eyes before. At first, Aegle had been sure that Ara must be blind, though the blue haired girl had quickly dissabused her of that notion. No, Ara's eyes were too sharp and piercing to be sightless. Aegle still wasn't sure exactly how she felt about Ara though, despite an implicitly positive impression of her. She was sure she liked the silver eyed girl, but really didn't feel like she knew or could intuit anything about who she was.
Aegle's reverie was abruptly broken when, just as she complete her circuit of her teammates, the ground once again conspired against her. This time, the resultant stumble was followed by a knee-aching thud as Aegle's right leg gave out beneath her. Combined with the cold, lugging Oupis about was turning out to be much more of a work out than she had anticipated. "Oof." The small girl grunted, utterly unconscious of herself and the apparent frailty of her behavior. Thankfully, Dusty was there to point it out to her. "You know, predators usually target the most frail animal in the group, Aegle," He informed helpfully, if loudly, from his spot just a little separated from the rest of the group. Aegle glanced back and grinned at the blonde boy, glad to see she'd been right about him being smart. "I didn't~" She said back, pleasantly shrill in her response, as she reached down the neck of her hoodie and fiddled with something between her shoulder blades, though much of the accompanying sounds swept away by the howling wind. She moved a bit more easily, once she was back on her feet, as though she'd gotten a little lighter, and crunched one boot clad foot down heavily on the slippery spot she'd fallen on, cracking the ice beneath. "I always figured they went for whoever was makin' the most noise." She admitted openly, stomping down on another couple of spots as she resumed her walk, trying to make the path safe for anyone following in her footsteps. She might have said more, but was cut off by Hiroko's accompanying admonishment. "Oh my god, will you shut your mouth?" The short girl called ahead, sufficient vitriol in her tone to cut through even Aegle's shield of willfulness. The smaller girl couldn't help but glance back at Hiroko, honestly a bit surprised to have such venom aimed at her. It took only a moment of eye contact for Aegle to confirm that, yes, Hiroko had been speaking to her. She might have said something, either in her defense or in protest, but the taller girl was quicker on the draw. She spoke a bit too quickly and in too great of a volume for Aegle to catch every word, but the jist of Hiroko's words were clear. Even to someone so terminally oblivious as Aegle. She quickly turned her attention back to the path ahead, and spent the remainder of the walk to the cave in silence, trying to figure out why someone as nice as Hiroko had shouted at her the way the taller girl had.
Aegle was breathing heavily as they mounted the final incline towards the mouth of the cave. It wasn't the desperate, wheezing pant of the woefully out of shape, but a steady and controlled intake, indicative of prolonged exertion over a long length of time. Despite her apparent windedness, Aegle still managed to be the first one to the mouth of the cave, following Aisio of course, and she momentarily braced herself against its scarred arch to catch her breath. If she hadn't been so glad for the work out, she would have envied the others and their far more portable weapons. Out of the howling wind and in the relative stillness at the mouth of the cave, her movements were accompanied by a faint mechanical whirring that hadn't been there when she loaded the airship earlier that day. Listening to Aisio's explanation and looking into the cave, a faint scowl slowly alighted itself on her rosy cheeked countenance. Finally, she turned her worried expression upon the huntswoman, her features doing everything they could to broadcast her concern. "Are ya sure it's just the one deatheater?" Aegle asked, her pitched voice practically dripping with trepidation. "Nothin' else?" Close to pleading, she glanced back at her approaching team, as though for solace or comfort. Then, when none was provided with alacrity sufficient to satisfy the orange combed huntress, she pushed off from the wall and looked back into the yawning mouth of imposing darkness which lay open before her. "Y'mean we hiked all the way out here..." Aegle whined, her voice taking on the keening, petulant quality that most young adults inevitably outgrow, "And all we get to fight is one big bug?"

Dusty turned his attention to the other freshman, Hiroko, a slight smirk playing on his lips. Oh, the irony of it all. Hiroko was being as loud, if not louder than Aegle, and probably making the chances of other Grimm charging at them through the snow. He drew Ardu and Leagtha out of their scabbards and snapped the blades together to form Daybreaker. As the bowstring snapped across the limbs, he tapped away at a few buttons on his gauntlet, setting up ten arrows with varying kinds of Dust. "People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones, Hiroko," he said in a sing song voice as he wagged his finger at the younger girl before looking back at Aegle. "And who exactly is making the most noise right now, Aegle? You or Hiroko?"
Dusty shrugged as he looked at Ara. "Not really sure," he admitted. "Some of the best hunts I've been on were when one of my brothers was absolutely certain were weren't going to get any game or we weren't able to be quiet enough. Luck has a strange way of working out like that. How it turns out is ultimately hard to predict, though I can't disagree. We're going to have a hell of a story to tell when we get back home."
Dusty then turned to look at Aisio, though a look of discomfort crossed his face for a moment. "Seems like a reasonable enough answer," he mused. "A Deatheater is pretty rare this close to the surface, though. Whatever's in that cave with it must be pretty damn powerful to attract the attention of that large of a beast."

[attr="class","notafraid"] [attr="class","naimg"] [attr="class","naimgborder"] [attr="class","nalyrics"]Mirror, tell me something Tell me who's the loneliest of all? [attr="class","nabody"]Trudging through the snow, Ara found little interest in conversing with a majority of the group. Again, her focus remained in building a good rapport with the only present member of her house. That said, she was noticeably grateful for Aisio’s display of her wings, easing a bit in the warmth. "Not really sure." The young man replied. Dusty went on to briefly recount hunting trips with his family, a subject that instigated a radiant smile from the girl’s usually deadpan expression. ”How it turns out is ultimately hard to predict, though I can't disagree.” He concluded. ”We're going to have a hell of a story to tell when we get back home." At least she was agreeing with someone on something. Part of her wanted to press on to make conversation, but the chatter between the group made that next to impossible. Instead, Ara simply remained quiet, the smile on her face eventually fading - slowly being replaced by her usual blank expression. It was situations like these that probably resulted in her antisocial tendencies. Sometimes, there was just too much going on and she had a hard time keeping up. Luckily, this was never a hiccup she had in the middle of combat. As a fighter, Ara was quick and precise, striking her opponent with seemingly surgical precision with her weapon - Occam. Her hand lowered to the hilt of the sword, gingerly placing her hand over the pommel. “Hey, Dusty?” She finally said, having mustered the courage to pursue the conversation she had moments earlier decided to let die. “What's yo-” Her words were cut off as the group stopped in their tracks, everyone’s attention setting on Aisio. ”This is it. Apparently this cave is home to a Deatheater, and quite a large one at that.” She stated after setting her weapon back in its sheathe. Ara’s expression twisted into one of concern as her eyes flicked between the rest of the students in the group, and she subtly rolled her eyes as she drew Occam from its small belt clip. ”I will stay close to provide light and warmth, and to assist should you need me, but do not count on my aid in the inevitable fight."Ara fought, to a surprisingly successful degree, to prevent herself from scoffing at Aisio’s direction. She understood this was going to be a test, and that Aisio was to sit out for the duration of their expected trial against the Deatheater, but still - to just leave them there to die if that became the case? As far as Ara was concerned at that point, such a decision was inexcusable. They were supposed to be trained for things like this, not to lead them into a likely improbable winning scenario like lambs to the slaughter. Flourishing her sword, Ara stepped to the front of the group, her eyes shifting briefly to Aisio before looking ahead and into the dark cave. “Well, guys, let’s get going.” She said confidently, taking initiative - and the lead. “If we’re lucky, we can get the jump on the thing and take it down - without needing assistance from our chaperon.”[attr="class","natag"]559 ● Kim[attr="class","cred"]MADE BY VEL OF WW + GS[newclass=.notafraid]width:460px;background:#fefefe;border:1px solid #eee;[/newclass] [newclass=.naimg]background:url('http://ultraimg.com/images/2016/08/10/1xss.jpg');width:400px;height:200px;margin-top:30px;[/newclass] [newclass=.naimgborder]width:375px;height:175px;border:4px #fefefe solid;background:transparent;margin-top:-191px;[/newclass] [newclass=.nalyrics]font-family:georgia;font-size:15px;text-transform:uppercase;[/newclass] [newclass=.nabody]width:400px;font-family:verdana;font-size:10px;line-height:14px;letter-spacing:1px;text-align:justify;color:#888;[/newclass] [newclass=.natag]font-size:9px;color:#aaa;text-align:center;text-transform:lowercase;[/newclass] [newclass=.cred]text-align:center;font-size:6pt;color:rgb(132, 132, 132);letter-spacing:1px;font-family:verdana;[/newclass] [newclass=.cred a]color:rgb(132, 132, 132);font-size:6pt;letter-spacing:1px;font-family:verdana;[/newclass]

Aisio winced at Ara's subtle, yet harsh words. She watched as the silver eyed woman took the lead, sighing and subconsciously placing a hand into her trench coat. Her fingers curled around the handle of Flamelash, and Aisio closed her eyes and silently lamented the fact she wouldn't be fighting. Of course she wanted to help the students, to fight the Deatheater head-on and claim the weapon for the Pendragon house. But she had made a promise to the academy, this was meant to be a learning mission and as it was so delicately put, Aisio was merely a chaperone to the children. She let the students enter the cave in front of her, sticking to the entrance until they all passed by. That is, until Dusty would walk by, at which point she stopped him with a hand on his shoulder and looked at him curiously.
"Dusty, right? You look so very familiar, have we met before?" Aisio asked him, curiosity filling her voice before shaking her head and laughing. "I suppose it doesn't truly matter. This is a mission, not the time for reminiscing." She let go of his shoulder and entered the cave, her fiery wings lighting the darkness inside. The cave was large and wound down into the mountain, jagged hallways of stone moving slowly downward. As they got deeper, parts of stone more blackened started to appear upon the walls, these black stones being gouged by what looked like claw marks. Aisio reached a hand out to one as she passed, and the blackness came off the wall and coated her finger. "Soot...what kind of weapon was this?" The path began to even out, the claw marks on the walls becoming less regular as the group continued through the tunnel.
