9/9/X1
Aegle's boots squeaked across the floor as she flowed into her next punch, this one a uppercut plainly calibrated for foes taller than she was. Given her size and her tendency to hunch while on the offensive, that category of opponent pretty much included anybody Aegle could even fight. With her defending hand still raised, as if to intercept some counter only she could see, the pint-sized pugilist dropped her offending fist and swayed back half a step. At the same time, she switched stances from standard to south-paw, then rapidly re-initiated with the very hand she'd just been using to defend. She rushed forward, going after an invisible opponent stood roughly upon the spot she'd just evaded, and swung a cleaving hook with her off-hand. Again, Aegle switched stances as she swung and, in so doing, transferred all her remaining momentum into the hook she'd just thrown. Once again, the small girl swayed and evaded, hunching her shoulders and guarding with both arms, before she shot out a lightning quick jab with her leading hand. Tightening up to provide as small a target as possible, Aegle followed up with another two jabs and then a cross that lead into another switch of her stance. Each movement flowed seamlessly into the next, with every part of her small body in constant motion, even when her fists weren't lashing out in their irregular rhythm. She'd been at it for a good half an hour too, sometimes on the offensive against her invisible foe, sometimes defending, but always moving. Such solo contests against an unseen opponent were a daily dance for the small boxer, though the precise steps also changed on a daily basis. Sometimes she never stopped attacking and unleashed an unending string of combinations of stance changes, while other times she would block and evade more than she actually punched. Some days, what defensive concessions Aegle allowed where composed entirely of blocks and counters, while other days she evaded exclusively. Some days saw a predominance of haymakers and hooks, while others focused on jabs and uppercuts. Sometimes she spent as little as thirty minutes training, while other times she went as long as three hours. The only thing consistent about these daily bouts was that Aegle never slowed and never stopped, not even for the occasional drink of water. Even on the days where she spent more than an hour battling her invisible foe, Aegle did not stop until she was done, and not a moment before.
On this particular day, Aegle had spent about forty five minutes ducking, weaving and punching at empty air before the first signs of fatigue began to set in. At first, the orange haired girl showed little indication of her mounting weariness. In fact, her initial mistakes were only truly evident to herself. She would throw a punch which felt clumsy or feel unbalanced as she shifted her weight from one foot to the next. It was a credit to her training that she noticed these small mistakes long before her weariness would have become evident to an observer. With her semblance, Aegle could have denied these minor mistakes and pushed herself to do better, but she had learned the danger of pushing herself too hard. Instead, she let her body admit it was tired and felt as her attacks grew sluggish and imprecise. At the last, as was often the case, Aegle was stumbling and close to tripping over her own feet by the time she admitted she was too tired to continue. This particular day, that moment came when, following a hook which was supposed to have all her body weight behind it, Aegle overbalanced and lost her footing. She managed to catch herself before she fell all the way over, a feat which required driving her lead fist into the scuffed hardwood of the training room floor. As she knelt there, Aegle nearly let herself stumble back to her feet and 'continue the fight', but she restrained herself. After all, such a mistake in an actual fight would have certainly resulted in her defeat. So instead, Aegle rose back to her feet in one measured motion, and breathed out an unsteady and winded breath. Her muscles throbbed and her lungs burned while her heart hammered loudly in her ears. Aegle savored each sensation as she slowly flexed her fingers against the heavy wraps that covered them. Sweat glistened on her sickly thin arms and narrow shoulders, as well as her flushed face, while her dark tank top clung damply to the rest of her slender frame. She smeared her palms across the seat of her cargo pants, then rolled her shoulders reflexively, before she finally turned to the far corner of the room. Against the wall, opposite the training cell's only entrance, Aegle found her water bottle and her hoodie. She scooped up the former, unscrewed the top, and emptied its contents into her mouth, all while her free hand crept to the battery pack stretched across her back. She toyed idly with the dial on the pack's side, currently set to the lowest setting possible without turning the brace off entirely, and briefly considered turning it up so that she could put a few more minutes of training in. Aegle resisted the thought however, appealing though it may have been. While she might gain some benefit from such an artificially protracted work out, the idea was too close to cheating for Aegle's liking. So, instead, she left the brace turned down like she always did. Once she made her way to the showers and washed off that days sweat, then she might consider turning it back up, but not until then.
Lowering her arms, one still gripping her water bottle, Aegle glanced around the featureless training cell. Vytal had many such cells throughout the small collection of buildings which served as an indoor alternative to the academy's training fields. Ostensibly, they were meant for group training or matches, but Aegle had figured out early into her career at Vytal that they were often unoccupied during the warmer months. Many huntsmen, with their superhuman capacity for collateral damage, preferred to train outdoors where such damage could be minimized. Aegle, given her unique circumstances as a huntress in training, was not especially constrained by her capacity to cause harm to people and property around her. Being able to artificially limit her own strength had that advantage, if no other. Leaning down to grab her hoodie, Aegle had no reason to suspect that today would be any different from any other day. Her plans for the remainder of the night reflected this fact. She intended to go have a shower, get changed into a clean tank top, and then head for the cafeteria. If she wasn't too tired following her shower, she might even leave the brace on low and jog there to burn off a little more energy. On her way to the door, Aegle slipped on her hoodie and then looked down at her bandaged hands. The results of that day's earlier endurance training were already starting to show through the bandages, and Aegle briefly allowed herself to perceive the throbbing that came from her knuckles. She was surprised by how little they hurt, given the small spots of blood spread across their cotton coverings...

Lily had made a hobby of following Aegle around in the past few days. One of her many skills was moving about undetected. She'd used that to sneak aboard the flight to Setek, and again to maneuver through Setek without drawing the notice of anyone, and these recent few days, she'd used it to study her friend. She wasn't doing so maliciously, nor out of any sense of obsession. She had screwed up when they last met, pretty bad. She had no idea how she could make it right, or even what she could do to fix things. She didn't realize just how quickly Aegle was likely to forgive her, so she stressed and worried about it. She wasn't the type to undertake a new situation without some preparation if she could avoid it. So she had followed her friend, when her time had allowed for it. She was quite busy with her own training, and her studies. The featureless, windowless training rooms that Aegle preferred to train in only had one single direction where one could view the goings on inside. A small window, about four and a half feet up the door. Likely so that teachers could peer in and ensure nothing too uncouth was happening inside of the rooms. Lily would often check in on Aegle several times, occupying the training room next to her after she'd arrived, and exiting shortly after Aegle herself had done so. She would occasionally check in on Aegle, stealing looks within her room, to glance at her fighting style. She felt almost dirty stealing glances in that way, but never stayed to watch long, lest she be discovered. For the most part, she would go over the exercises her mother had taught her, meditate using one of her father's many aura meditation styles, or simply practice her unique brand of acrobatic combat.
This day, she chose to practice her combat. She, much like Aegle, tended to battle invisible opponents during these sessions. She stood in the center of the room, dodging her opponents imagined blows, while retorting with slashes that were precise. Occasionally she would duck below the imagined fists to slice the legs, or doing a flip that would clear the heads of most opponents. She worked on timing the flip so that her legs would be able to spring off an opponents back when she was at that particular point in the arc. She would also spend some time jumping from the ground, to the wall, and using the wall to spring back to the ground, about a foot in front of her, claws forward. She would enter into a roll when landing, though in a real combat scenario the idea would be to tackle her opponent to the ground and shred them. She was also a fan of jumping from wall to wall, trying to stay off of the ground for as long as she could. It wasn't as easy as it was back home, but there weren't as many trees in the kingdoms, so it made sense. She had done these same exercises every day under her mother, usually against her. She was a better opponent than any shadowboxed ghost may have been, and she imagined how her mother would move in response to most of these actions. She had to take a break half way through to allow herself a few moments to tear up and mourn her family. Something she never did. She was glad for the privacy these rooms permitted. She missed her mother, and her father, and longed for just one more day to spend with them, training, talking, laughing. Once the tears were dried, she continued her session, though only half heartedly. Her mind was on her parents, and the lessons they had taught her, in their lives, and eventually in their deaths. She had so much she wanted to say to them, so much she wanted to make up for. Her mind wasn't fully on her training. Her ears perked up when she heard Aegle's door open and close, she bolted to the side of the door just in case her friend happened to look in on her room to see her training. Her thoughts cleared, and suddenly she realized that she was going about this the entirely wrong way. Spying on her friend, looking for something to exploit so that her apology would go more smoothly, that wasn't how friends treated each other. She would never have acted that way with her parents. The only reason she was acting that way now was because she was so used to caution after having lived on her own for so long. She would just confront the girl normally, though in a setting that would be less likely to lend suspicion to the fact that she had, in fact, been spying on her friend.
She moved to an empty room near the showers, so that she could hurry up and take hers once Aegle had cleared out. She spent the down time meditating, using one of her father's stances to help focus her aura and clear her mind. Once she heard the door open that signified Aegle was through with her shower, she quickly headed in to the shower area herself and stripped. She seemed to have chosen the same shower that Aegle had used, as the water was warm instantly.
She had often sped up her shower by using her semblance so that she could continue watching her friend, and today she decided not to make an exception. Normally she would use her semblance to travel a straight line, but recently she'd been able to modulate it, choosing not to go at her full mach two if the situation required it. She was at maybe an eighth of her full speed while she showered, but her increased perception was as good as it always was. She was able to finish her shower in the span of perhaps a minute. The water was literally steaming off of her body after she was done, a result of the high levels of friction at play at such extreme speeds.
She hurriedly got dressed, and followed Aegle for a short while, doing her best to dry out her hair on the way. She decided to stop Aegle about half way between the training hall and the cafeteria.
"H-Hey Aegle," she said, looking down at her feet, and offering a weak wave. "I've uhh.. I've been looking for you. You got a second to talk?" She asked hoping her friend wouldn't still be too upset about the way that things were left the last time they spoke. She felt a little bad about the small lie, but she absolutely didn't want her friend to know that she'd been following her. She felt quite embarrassed about her behavior.

The exact act of bathing, where Aegle was concerned, was best tackled with as much utilitarian brevity as was possible. This wasn't simply because bathing was one of only a few tasks which Aegle did not eschew in the interest of cramming as much activity into one day as possible. Rather, it was the fact that bathing was the only act, apart from sleeping, which required the complete removal of her brace to accomplish. In fact, Aegle had been known to fall asleep in her brace on occasion, which made bathing the only regular task where she was consistently without it. Thus, when Aegle stepped, or more accurately limped, into one of the changing room's shower stalls, it was the express intention of spending as little time in it as possible.
So expedient were her daily trip into the showers, that Aegle usually didn't wait to be completely dry before exiting the changing rooms. That was why she still had a towel draped around her vaguely hunched shoulders when Lily caught up to her on the way to the cafeteria building. "Oh, howdy Lily..." Aegle said, grinning at the abashed faunus. From the tone of her greeting, none may have guessed that their prior interaction had ended with Aegle beating her knuckles bloody on a punching bag. Even Aegle only felt a faint tinge of aversion before her inherently affable and easy going nature took over. In fact, the tension which had marked the end of their prior encounter was nowhere to be seen. Sure, things hadn't gone terribly well on their second meeting, but since then Aegle had scarcely so much as thought about the unusual faunus girl. This was less indicative of dispassion on Aegle's part and more purely indicative of her rather blase approach to life. Her attitude and overall body language remained just as open and friendly as she stopped to consider Lily's request. "Sure, I guess I got some time. What's up?"

Lily's words hung in the air for a moment before Aegle responded. Lily let out a sigh of relief, gone was the hard edge in Aegle's voice from the last time they spoke. She sounded just like the happy go lucky friend that she'd met that first day at Vytal. She sucked in a deep breath, before saying "Look, I know that I was way out of line when we last talked... I just, want to apologize, and say that I really hope we can just move past that, and still be friends. I'm not the best with people, but you are a good person from what I've seen, and I really want you to be my friend, so are we okay? I mean- That is, I get it if you're still unhappy about it all, but if we're not okay, is there anything I can do to kinda, be okay again?" She asked, keeping her gaze down, still a little afraid of how Aegle might respond. She stood there, feeling more vulnerable than she had in a long time. Without thinking about it, she had grabbed her right arm self consciously.
She wondered what Aegle might have to say, worst case scenarios played out in her head. Fears of secret resentment even if the girl decided to outwardly be her friend, she wasn't totally sure that her apology would be taken well. She was afraid that even bringing up the subject would be like sticking a fork into old wounds, but she didn't know how to bring it up without at least mentioning the fallout. She squirmed in place, shifting uncomfortably from foot to foot. She knew it wasn't long, but she felt like she were stuck in her semblance's hyper aware state. Waiting an eternity for the seconds to tick by. She really didn't have a proper appreciation for how poor she was with other people. She knew that she could be dense regarding the feelings of the people around her, and she knew she'd gone out of line, but she didn't understand the full extent of her inappropriateness. She did however, understand that she did not understand. For the same reason she didn't understand why people were upset with her after her bird incident. She understood that the things she did could upset people, and accepted that sometimes she wouldn't understand herself exactly why. She just believed there was likely a good reason behind most of their strange opinions, and if they were upset, they probably had some reasoning at play that she didn't understand.
In Aegle's case, it wasn't hard to see where the girl would have derived her sourness from. Lily had replayed the conversation a hundred times in her head since then, and realized more and more that Aegle didn't need to hear things like that. She already knew. She knew every word, so saying out loud did nothing but stick a knife in the wounds tha Aegle surely had to deal with each and ever day.

For as thick as she could sometimes appear, Aegle didn't take long to notice that something was wrong. While her few interactions with Lily had lead her to expect reserved tones and downcast eyes from the young faunus, there was an inherent gravity to her reserved which even someone like Aegle could not fail to notice. Not that she could have even presumed at the reason, not until Lily came right out and told her. As should have probably been evident from the prior encounter, Aegle wasn't exactly adept at responding to statements that weren't succinct and to the point. She might have joke about her utter dearth of intelligence, but usually with jokes constructed around a kernel of truth. So it actually came as a bit of a relief to the orange haired girl when Lily just came right out and told Aegle what was bothering her, rather than simply beating around the bush. Which is not to say that Aegle actually understood Lily's concerns, even a little bit. For a few moments, long enough for her silence to become a concern, Aegle regarded the small faunus without speaking, er expression openly quizzical and even a little confused. Not that Lily's downcast eyes would have noticed. She tipped her head slowly from one side to the other, weighed her answer with as much care as she was capable, and wondered about the emotions running through her at that moment. Aegle, while as emotionally healthy as one could expect from someone who'd been through what she'd been through, wasn't especially conscious of her emotions. Thus, when she felt the compulsion to comfort or reassure someone, she wasn't always immediately able to identify those emotions for what they were. Not that Aegle needed to be able to identify what emotion was linked to a compulsion to follow said compulsion. Especially not when the compulsion in question was to provide encouragement. "S'that what this is all about?" She asked finally, without even bothering to mask her incredulity. The fact was that Aegle's thoughts on what Lily had said and done were remarkably uncomplicated. Sure, the faunus girl's reaction had been insulting and, at least so far as Aegle was concerned, unwarranted at the time, but a week had also passed since then. A week during which Lily's actions had simply been filed away along side all the other times someone had said or done something insensitive to her. That particular category of memories was not the sort Aegle spent any real time thinking about. In fact, had Lily waited a month instead of only a week, it was entirely possible that Aegle would have forgotten about the faunus girl's faux pas entirely. "We're fine." Aegle assured, a broad smile spreading across her lips as one of her bandaged hands slap down firmly on the taller girl's shoulder. Or, at least, as firmly as it could with her brace set low right after her daily training. "Really, y'gotta relax a little bit." Giving Lily's shoulder a light squeeze, Aegle then turned away from the taller girl and resumed her course for the cafeteria, presuming their conversation complete. "See ya later, Lily~" Aegle said over her shoulder, by way of parting, perfectly content to continue about her day. As though some self conscious faunus hadn't sought her out for comfort and reassurance. This dismissal was less indicative antipathy on Aegle's part than it was her fallacious assumption that interpersonal problems could be solved that easily. After all, Aegle had only needed a couple of days to get over what Lily had said and done, so why should Lily require any more than that? It was an innocent, if insular, way of looking at the world, which quite succinctly described the girl who practiced it.

Lily stood there for a few moments, blinking. That was not quite what she'd expected, but it did at least seem positive. She shuffled her feet for a few moments, indecisive. Was her walking away so quickly indicative of some deeper problem? Was there something Aegle wasn't telling her? She didn't think so, that didn't really seem like Aegle's style, but then, could she really say that she knew the girl well enough to know her style? She fidgeted there for a few more moments. She didn't even realize that Aegle's touch hadn't set her alarm bells ringing. Has she recognized that, her response would have differed, but instead, she jogged after Aegle, who had gone a little ways at this point. A jog for Lily was similar to a flat out run for most people, she bounded effortlessly, closing the distance between them in moments without so much as a loud noise or a heavy breath. "H-Hey, wait up!" She called, deciding her friend was indeed, still her friend. "Do you mind if I join you for a while? I enjoyed spending time with you before... well, y'know." She wasn't looking so abashed at this point, and was actually comfortably looking at Aegle's face to measure responses.
She was pleased that she'd managed to apparently do something right in a social situation. Perhaps she was learning how to better talk to people, or perhaps she was learning how to better talk to Aegle, but most likely neither was happening and she was just not likely to put her foot in her mouth one-hundred percent of the time.
"I uhh, I wouldn't mind the company if you don't either. Besides, you promised me a sparring match before, remember?" she tried to smile playfully, but her face wasn't really used to it, so she probably came off a bit awkward.
"Uhh, but first if we could get some food, I'd appreciate it. I was actually headed towards the cafeteria. I know how to use that place now by the way." She said proudly smiling. "I've been learning all sorts of stuff, there are a few things I'd love to show you that I've been working on." She seemed proud about something. It was something she'd not shown anyone yet, but it could wait until either during lunch, or after sparring. The thing in question was her weapon, or rather, weapons. She'd come up with two different concepts, and wanted to run both by Aegle to see if she had any opinions on them.

"Oh yeah..." Aegle mused quietly to herself, or at least quietly for her, as her own smile broadened into a grin. "I totally did say we should spar~" If this obligation worried her, or it's proximity to an intensive workout, the pintsized girl gave no indication. In fact, she came very close to rerouting her course towards the training fields instead of the cafeteria, and probably would have if Lily hadn't immediately mentioned that she was heading to get some food. Despite her rampant enthusiasm for all things physical, even she couldn't argue that combat should not be undertaken on an empty stomach. Besides, if there was one thing Aegle like as much as fighting, it was eating. "I was actually headin' for the caff myself." She remarked to Lily, who had doubtlessly already reached that exact conclusion and probably didn't need it confirmed. She shone a smile playfully at the taller faunus girl, while she glanced between Lily and their shared path to the cafeteria, though Aegle's attention was primarily on her friend. She gave no indications that she regarded the faunus girl with any animosity or ill will, which was remarkable given the fact that she'd quite literally kicked Lily out of her room the last time they had spoken. Admittedly, Aegle had exercised a inexplicable amount of care and delicacy with regards to Lily's dismissal, but it was still a disparity worthy of note, and one which doubtlessly shed light on who the orange haired girl was. That she could so easily move past, or more likely forget, something which, in the moment, had her so very heated was very indicative indeed. "They don't serve curry in there, y'know?" Aegle shared, looking at Lily when she probably should have been watching where she was going. "S'a crime, if you ask me. Everywhere should serve curry." That spicy foods typically weren't widely consumed by the general population didn't seem to factor into Aegle's declaration. "How's school been goin'? I was thinkin' 'bout it..." Which was really saying something, "And I guess I started wonderin' how someone whose never been in school before was gonna learn anything." Speaking in her usual cavalier fashion, it was clear Aegle hadn't thought about the implications of what she said, or how her presumptions could be seen as insulting. She did make it abundantly clear, however, that she thought Lily's lack of education meant she was starting off with a child's capacity for academia. "S'not really fair, is it? Gettin' you to catch up and learn everythin' all at once..."

Lily giggled lightly at Aegle's curry comment. She was also keeping her attention focused on Aegle, however her periphery senses were strong enough that she could be certain she wasn't about to walk into anything or anybody. "Curry is really yummy. I tried that food place again... I uhh... think I got the way-too-hot kind that time though. I couldn't even eat more than a few bites. I'm not used to my food biting back." She could feel her shoulders relaxing, the tension draining away. She didn't even realize how tense she'd been until it drained out of her. She had been far more concerned about how Aegle would respond to her than she'd realized, and she had been aware of quite a bit of the concern.
she breathed one final heavy sigh, before perking up for real and deciding the past truly was the past with this girl.
"Y'know, I'm super fast. Like, super duper fast. If you wanted curry, I could be there and back in like, two minutes, tops. Well, maybe a little longer, 'caus I'd need to wait on them to make it, but it's an option."
She got a conspiratorial look on her face when Aegle asked her about her schooling, and she giggled. "That's the fun thing about being me, I can get more studying done in a minute than most people can in a day, if I abuse my semblance endlessly." She said with a grin on her face. "It takes up a lot of aura, but if I'm not doing much, I can do it multiple times a day pretty easily. Y'know how I can go super fast? Well, if I were doing that blindly, I'd probably trip, and fall into something. I could hurt myself pretty bad. Part of my semblance makes it seem like everything else is standing still while I activate it. Every second or so that passes while I've got my semblance active looks like a little more than eight minutes to me. I've been using this to catch up on all of the remedial readings I've needed to do. I also get a lot more time to study for classes and work on homework than others get. It's really, really useful." she said. The one thing she didn't get was enough sleep. Evidenced by the dark bags under her eyes. Time spent in her semblance also drained her at an increased rate. So while her aura might regenrate after a time, she needed more sleep than an average person might in order to make up for the extra strain on her brain. She got roughly eight hour a night, but that wasn't truly sufficient for the level of study she'd been subjecting herself to. She liked to stretch every day to the absolute maximum. She rarely talked to anyone. She had a few friends and acquaintances, but spent the vast majority of her time completely alone. Every day she would diligently study, train, attend classes, and meditate. She had given herself no free moments as a student. She was here to become the best huntress she could be. That meant pushing herself harder than anyone else. She no longer had to focus on the grimm that wanted to kill her. She only had to focus on getting stronger, and learning the things that she needed to know to be a successful student. In a rare moment of indulgence, she might spend some time with a friend, or read a book that wasn't part of the curriulum. Even so, those books were often chosen to provide background information or to educate her on something she could use as entertainment. She recalled the astronomy book she'd found after her chat with Chrohn.
"Really, if something isn't fair, it's my ability. Once I'm caught up, I don't see how anyone is gonna keep up with me. For now though, I'm doing pretty well in every class."

Assuming the two managed to remain on amicable terms, there would hopefully come a day where the two would reach a mutual understanding of one another's proclivities and limitations. When that day arrived, it would doubtless find Lily inured to the fact that Aegle simply couldn't handle large amounts of information, all provided in a single breath. In fact, even if they never reached an understanding with one another, Lily was still likely to learn that, given that it was one of Aegle's most significant limitations. "Oh..." The orange haired girl said, her open face the expressive equivalent of a stalled out motor. It took her a while, far longer than it probably should have, for her to determine that the faunus girl's explanation had bee a positive one. "Good~" This moment was readily apparent, because it was accompanied by a general brightening of Aegle's previously blank expression. Her renewed smile perfectly conveyed a sense of pleasure for a perceived affirmation which its owner didn't necessarily understand. It was the sort of expression which Aegle plainly had quite a bit of experience with.
The proverbial smoke continued to billow from Aegle's ears for a few moments after Lily was done talking, her countenance locked in its expression of vague and uncertain happiness for her friend. Having never had a speed semblance and being a person whose limited academic success was born less from comprehension and more from deliberate blunt force effort, she really didn't understand the advantage Lily's semblance provided her. In the end, she could only accept that Lily had an advantage and that it somehow made sense. "That must be pretty handy..." She said finally, her tone vague and uncertain to match her oblivious smile. What followed was, for Aegle, a silence of uncommon length before the orange combed girl offered her friend a slightly more confident grin as they passed into the cafeteria. "Maybe then you can explain long division to me, huh?"

Lily could tell that Aegle was having a little bit of trouble comprehending what she was talking about, so once they settled down in the cafeteria she decided to give a demonstration to her friend. "Y'know, maybe it's a lot easier to show you than to tell you." she said, rifling through her bag for her supplies. "It's really a lot easier to show off than it is to explain now that I'm thinking about it." she said as she laid out pen, paper, and a text book in an array on the table in front of them.
"Just watch," she said, not waiting for any confirmation from Aegle as to whether or not she was willing to see the demonstration. It would only take a second, two tops to show her exactly what she was talking about. She cracked her knuckles loking at the supplies before her and activated her semblance.
Time stood still.
Not really, but it almost looked like it did from Lily's perspective. She looked down at the book before her, a text on the history of the kingdom of Setek. She chose a chapter, and began reading at a leisurely pace. It would take her about twenty minutes in reality to read the full chapter. However, in her semblance, that required a mere two and a half seconds. From Aegle's perspective, there was nothing but a flash of white light where the young faunus girl was sitting. Each of Lily's features was obscured by the bright light where she sat. Her hand flew across the papers, filling about four pages with detailed notes about the chapter, all written in the strange looping text of her tribe. She was used to writing like this, as it was the first language she'd learned to write in. Though she had learned the written language of the kingdoms in order to read the required texts. When her speed had finished, and the bright white light of her semblance had faded, Lily was left staring up at Aegle from the ground with a thin layer of sweat on her brow. It had taken twenty minutes to read the text, another twenty to detail the notes like that, and another five to check the notes over and make sure she wasn't writing in any mistakes. From Aegle's perspective, roughly six seconds had passed. She wasn't used to holding her semblance for so long, and it was a bit more of an exertion than usual, but so long as her aura held out, she could hold the semblance for extended periods of time.
"See?" She said, her hands shaking slightly as she gathered up her materials. "An unfair advantage," she stood up slowly to stretch. "And using it is like practicing my semblance at the same time, so two for one as far as training goes." Her legs were a little wobbly at first. Sitting in place for so long tended to do that to the girl. She would gain her strength back in no time at all though. She then sat back down at the table and with a grin said "If you need help with your long division, I can figure out exactly what you're struggling with and try my best to give you some pointers."
This was likely not the last of Lily's long winded explanations, but she was learning how to read people's faces again aftter over a week at the school. So hopefully in the future she'd be able to catch Aegle's confusion more readily and expand on the thought in simpler, more direct terms or through better to grasp methods like this one.
