It seemed that the last four years of her life had finally wound back down to a dull roar as Amethyst found herself back in Legion in the interim between her studies at Vytal Academy's underclasses and the next phase of her instruction as a Freshmen in Vytal's normal curriculum. Of course, it was nice to be back after such a long time away and to see her Godfather Cinereous again but part of being back was almost disenchanting. At Vytal her days and nights had been consumed with growing and learning as much as she could to prepare her for when she finally graduated and became a Huntress. Being back here though almost seemed like a step backward dredging up memories from the past and reopening old wounds that had just begun to scar over. As such, at least when she wasn't training with Cinereous, Amy found herself wandering around the city preferring to spend her days alone with her thoughts to stave off that feeling. She'd often go the library, or to book stores, just to simply get away from the hustle and bustle of Legion's snobbish atmosphere to have some time to herself. In fact, aside from the library, there was one place – a book store run by an elderly Faunus couple – that she often found herself visiting called "Life in Verbatim". It was one the stark edge of the city in one of the poorest districts making it rather difficult to get to normally but it was worth it. The couple who ran it were very nice, they kept a good selection, and if nothing else they had a nice little quiet café as a side business. It was the kind of place that a person could squander their day away finding a semblance of tranquility simply not elsewhere in Legion.[break][break]
In fact, today happened to be just one such day where Amy had the time and had been yearning to visit the old bookstore. So after her training session with Cinereous she had ventured out boarding a train to the outskirts of the city where she'd found herself amidst a more simplistic but downtrodden atmosphere. Unlike the city proper the place was far from pristine and the culture was abstract, full of both free thinkers, and diversity the likes of which Legionians often secluded or despised. It was the kind of place where, while it wasn't in the best of ways, all walks of life were accepted and where even the poorest of Legion's denizens could find a home. Moreover, it was a hotbed for places like Life In Verbatim where in the city proper they would never have had the chance to flourish as they had here. To that end, just walking down the sidewalk Amy found herself smiling watching the kids play and throw snowballs at one another in the street and taking in some of the livelier scenes around the small district before she finally spotted her destination. Once she was finally there Amy took one final look before latching her hand to the door handle and giving it a hard pull as the scent of old paper bound books and the aroma of coffee wafted toward her.[break][break]
The smell was heavenly to her and having been a fan of proper paperbound literature most of her life since she was too young to remember there was a certain nostalgia too it. As such, Amy crossed the threshold into the store finding herself riffing through the shelves of tomes making a few choice selections – both fact and fiction – that caught her eye before going to purchase them. When she'd finally approached the counter she greeted the man behind it who smiled at her and called her by name behind his slitted snake-like hues. While ringing her out he suggested another couple of books which Amethyst picked a choice selection out of before she bid him farewell and made her way to the coffee shop coming to get a cappuccino and then making her way into a comfy off-decorum armchair where she cracked open a book. Taking out a pen and notebook from her backpack Amy began reading scribbling small notes as she did in silence without much a care in the world. In a big way this place was comfortable, natural to her, and one of the only places she felt as if she could simply be without the baggage of the world around her. It was a nice feeling and one that she only seldom ever got to experience.
