It hasn't been that long since the young man officially joined the freshmen ranks of the Vytal Academy. It was his first real day off since then and he felt his wanderlust tugging on his heartstrings. He knew that he was starting to get quite low on his supply of thread dust, which he used to bind his bangs. It was high time that he went to shop and stocked up on it and maybe got something extra. He was hoping that they did carry this type of dust, though, as it was generally slightly tougher to get a hold of, considering it was still kind of new. It also made El's thin wallet cry.
The weather felt alright and since it was a day off, El decided to dress in his full casual - black jeans and a red, male tank top. No weapon, no battle gear. Just his red hair, tattoo's and no muscle. The young man frowned at the reality of it. /"Whatever, I'm fine without looking like a protein-junkie.."/ He thought to himself as he entered the Academy's Courtyard. Aside from being the shopping hub for students and whoever lived in the vicinity of the Academy, it was also a very popular meeting place. Sure enough, he saw a lot of people mingling about in either groups of pairs. Not that many were by themselves, like he was. Surprisingly enough, El hadn't made any real friends since he started his Hunter training. Perhaps he needed to change that in the near future. No. He definitely had to.
As El was trying to recall any familiar faces from the first few classes, he came upon his destination. El loved to call it "A Dust Paradise". It wasn't an official name, of course, he just felt like it fit the place. A section of the shopping hub filled with various shops selling dust. /"A Hunter's wet dream come true, no doubt!"/ Truth be told, it was his too, but he wouldn't admit it. The young man came upon the first shop, when something caught his eye in the window of the shop. He took a few steps towards the window to see what it was. It was a piece of cardboard with "Sale! Crystal Dust 25% off until the end of the week!" lazily painted on it. "Oh, nice! Time to stock up!" He would say to himself as he grinned from ear to ear and entered the shop.

It was finally time for a hardcore dust restock! Max was as a fighter, a very heavy dust user considering his pistols reliance on dust bullets as well as his use of dust crystals as a form of grenades. Luckily Max knew exactly where to restock! Max quickly got dressed in his favorite black and white pin stripe suit with black tie, his dress shoes, skateboard harness and Ammo bag. He then slipped his twin pistols inside his Jacket pockets. He then looked inside his ammo bag to see that he only had two fire dust clips left counting the two that were in his guns already and was completely out of dust crystals. "I guess Now is the best time!"Max just sighed and grabbed his skateboard from his harness and left his and his partner Ushio's home making sure to lock the door behind him. He then would hop on his board and speed off to the courtyard where all of the shops designed to help students were located. It wouldn't take long for Max to spot his favorite dust shop who often had a bunch of good deals. The only thing he didn't like about the place was that the owner often scolded Max for bringing in his skateboard. As Max pulled up, he made sure to hop off his board and pick it up off the ground to stick in his harness. Once he went inside he spotted a rather skinny male with Tattoo's and bright red hair as he walked up to the crystal dust case. "Hi there."Turning his attention away from the stranger, he looked up at the shop keep and gave him a small wave. He then reached into his suits inner coat pockets and pulled out both of his pistols. He then sat one on the counter top and then proceeded to pop the clip out of the other, sitting the empty pistol on the counter with it's mate. Max then looked back up at the clerk with a smile. "Hello good sir. I'm here for my usual order of six low impact fire dust bullet clips, six low impact ice clips, six low impact lightning clips and six fire and six ice dust crystals. It will be going on my Tab since I paid it off last month."The clerk just nodded at Max and took the clip from his pistol so he had the correct size of the bullets and then wandered off to the back. Once he was gone, Max turned to the red head and smiled. "So what's your name?"El Luna

When the young man entered the shop, the shopkeeper greeted him and he did the same. Then the usual question of what he needed followed. Normally he would just get it over with and say what he wanted, but this time he felt like looking around a bit more. "I'm just going to look around first, if you don't mind." He said as he peered through the glass on the display case on the shopkeeper's desk. Shortly after, he heard someone else come in. El was slightly busy examining the dust, so he didn't pay much attention to what the other was buying. The young man heard the shopkeeper shuffle away to fetch the other's order, when he heard the other say:
"So what's your name?"
The question took him slightly by surprise, but he quickly turned his head towards its source. It was a young man, most likely his age, or somewhere close around it. He wore a rather formal attire, especially if one were to compare it to his attire at the moment. As if an unseen force had heard his plea to know somebody and graced him with this meeting. He would then extend his arm toward him, a friendly gesture. "The name's El Luna, pleasure to meet ya. What's yours?" A smile formed on El's face, as he wondered whether the other would accept the handshake or not.

Max just smiled a small smile as the man with the bright red hair introduced himself as El Luna and then held out his hand to be shaken. Before accepting the gesture, Max out of habit looked down at the hand for a moment before reaching out his own hand and shook El's. Once the gesture was done Max dropped his hand and looked the male over. He seemed to be a lot more casual in attire then he himself was but what truly caught Max's watchful eye was the tattoo on the mans arm. It caused Max to raise an eyebrow with curiosity as he rolled back and forth on his heels. "I really like your tattoo. Is it just a tattoo or is it one of those special dust tattoos that I keep seeing all over the place lately? I've been meaning to go to the library and study them but I can't stand having to sit still to read. I'm used to always moving around ya know?As Max spoke, the shop clerk returned with a large cardboard box full of the clips and dust crystals that Max had ordered causing the young gunman to chuckle to himself happily. He quickly turned his attention to the counter as the clerk offered Max his original pistol clip back which the young man quickly accepted as he picked up both of his pistols, returning the clip to it's home. He then leaned over the box, hopping a bit in place as if he had just opened up a large christmas gift. "There is nothing more beautiful then a fresh box of dust rounds! Don't tell my girlfriend I said that."Max then grinned from ear to ear which was a rather unusual sight in and of itself. He then opened up his satchel and slowly began to empty the box in front of him. As he did he looked over at El, still wearing his big smile while making sure not to drop any of his clips or the dust crystals. "So what kind of weapon do you use El? As you saw, I use two twin pistols because with my semblance I am able to turn them into two massive arm cannons. I call my semblance aura weapon manipulation. I can show ya if ya want!"Max quickly finished packing his bag before closing it, he then stuck one of his pistols back into one of his inner suit pockets before offering it's mate to El to examine, grinning proudly at the design. "My parents designed them for me. They are called the chrome cannons. The triggers are a lot more sensitive then most pistols because I hold them upside down so that not only can I pull the triggers with my pinkies but so I can use the barrels as guards or to melee attack. I use my skateboard to have range and pepper my foe with damage."Max then blushed slighty as he realized that he was gushing about his weapons again. "I'm rambling aren't I? Oh before I forget my name's Max Chromium."El Luna

The other took a moment to accept the handshake, but they did and that's what mattered. El could then feel the other's gaze on him, appraising him. The young man took the liberty to do the same, aswell. The other was clad in far more formal attire than him. Black suit and whatnot. /"It does... suit him, though."/ He thought amusedly. The other then noticed and inquired about his tattoo's, also noting that he was not able to sit in the library for too long. This meeting was proving more and more interesting than El had thought it would be. It wasn't often that he got to meet a person with similar wanderlust to his. However, El didn't get to reply, as the shopkeeper returned.
The shopkeeper appeared with a rather large box, presumably filled with dust. He would give the other back a clip of bullets, which El could only assume was used to match the bullet size, if he correctly understood the logic of firearms. After checking the contents of the box, the other seemed to be exceptionally pleased, which was proved to be right by their following statement. The last part was kind of unneccessary in El's opinion, though. It also made him feel slightly awkward. The other then went on talking about their guns and Semblance, nudging the gun towards El, showing it off. El had to admit, all of it was pretty nice and cool, but he still-
The other just then realized that he's been rambling on, leaving El with a tad bit too much information. He also realized that he hasn't given El his name – Max Chromium. /"I'll make sure to remember that name really well."/ El made a mental note. Not that El had a bad memory, but he had a gut feeling that this wasn't going to be the last time he was going to meet Max. A lot of questions have been raised towards El and he had no idea where to begin. Probably from the beginning.
With a small smile and a wave of a hand, El said: "It's okay, really. But to answer your question about my tattoo's, yes, I do get them touched up with dust from time to time, but it wasn't my intention when I first got them." The shopkeeper would then slightly interrupt El, asking him whether has he chosen anything, seeing as he had enough time to look about. "Yes, I would like to ask for thread dust. But really thin ones, similar-" El said as he undid his right bang of hair, messing it up, and handed the super-awesome-piece-of-cloth to the shopkeeper. "-similar to this. Preferably as steam, if that's possible." He inquired. "I'll take a look in the back. Hang on." The shopkeeper replied as he disappeared again. El's heart jumped for joy, as the shopkeeper definitely didn't say no.
The young man would then turn to face Max again. "Aaand as for your question about Semblance.. We can trade our arts in a spar, what do you say?" El would ask with a grin. "Maybe I'll teach you some secrets about the dust tattoo's, if it's a good match!" There he goes again, basically challenging a person whom he had just met several minutes ago.

Max's eyes seemed to sparkle a bit as El explained that his tattoo was indeed one of those dust tattoos. It made Max think back to a sparring match he had had with a faunus named Dusty who had used his dust tattoo's to charge up his archery. As El took some sort of ribbon out of his hair and started talking about something called thread dust and then handing off his ribbon to the shop clerk who then proceeded to walk to the back to go check for it. Max's excited expression quickly turned to one of confusion as he quickly put his second pistol back into it's home in his inner suit pocket. He then looked at El confused. "Forgive my ignorance El, but what is thread dust? I once fought a Faunus who like you used dust tattoo's to power up his attacks and weapon but i've never heard of thread dust before. Would you mind explaining it to me if it's not too much trouble?""If he was honest with himself, Max hated not knowing something that pertained to combat or weaponry considering his parents ran a weapons shop and that one day after graduation and once his traveling days were over he would be doing the same. As he waited for El to explain he thought about what his new friend had said about showing off their skills in a spar. This excited Max a bit because he wanted to see what another freshman could do as he saw it as an unknown variable and an interesting challenge. Max just grinned at El. "I will gladly take you up on a sparring match. I'll need the practice because I'm competing in the Vhital tournament at the end of the year. I wanna prove myself to be one of the strongest if not the strongest new comer so i can gain a bit of respect going into our sophmore year."As he spoke about the tournament, Max remembered that after all the fighting was over there was supposed to be a dance of some sort and that he was planning on asking his partner and now girlfriend Ushio to go with him as his date. This meant that Max probably go out and buy a new suit that better fit the situation considering that the young hunter owned multiples of the same suit for every day of the week. This caused Max to blush a bit and scratch the back of his head. "This is probably a weird question but there is a dance after the tournament is over and I'm planning to take my partner and girl friend Ushio. I need to do some hardcore clothes shopping cause I own multiples of this suit and should probably get something a bit more..appropriate for the situation. Clothes shopping without someone to talk too sucks though, do you mind going with me?"El Luna

As it would have seemed, Max was apparently slightly left out of the loop when it came to the advancement in dust technology. Which wasn't that bad, really, as thread dust was indeed quite new to the market. El himself discovered its existence from hearing conversations at an inn that he worked at back home. He decided to check up on the rumours when he had some spare time and then also came up with his current hairstyle to match the dust he managed to obtain. The main negative thing about this dust was its cost. For El, at least. Max then agreed to them sparring later on and he also mentioned a tournament. It peaked El's interest, but he felt like it was slightly too early for him. He would have to think on it a little bit more in order to decide whether or not to join, but he kept a mental note of it. If this were to keep going, he would have to start a diary or something.
Though when Max blushed and scratched the back of his El got worried for second, until his shopping companion mentioned a dance. Now that was totally up El's alley. He wasn't the best dancer, sure, but it was enough to entertain people. When Max stated that he owns multiplicates of the suit that he was wearing, El raised his eyebrow a little. /"He definitely loves wearing suits, doesn't he?"/ El did have some favourite pieces of fashion, but they were not esentially the same thing. Not that he was the one judge. But what was most surprising was Max's final question.
Again, El would have to answer the questions one by one, as to not tangled in his own answers and make a mess of himself. "Thread dust is still quite a new form of dust, probably the safest mixture of crystal and powder so far discovered. You may see like capes woven out of it, but I keep it simple. Though, as you might have guessed, it gets kind of expensive.." El winced at the thought of the exorbitant price he's going to have to pay. "I might use some thread dust in our spar, if you'd like to see it in action." Again, the haunting memories of the prices he had seen for this kind of dust. "Though I'm sure that you'll make it up the Tournament ladder no problem-o." El would continue with an encouranging smile.
And lastly, about the shopping. Max mentioned something about taking his girlfriend as his partner to the dance. Well, dang, obviously. But he wondered about the rules that the dance had. Could he go alone? Or was it obligatory that he found a partner for it? Did he reeeally need to dress formally? So many questions. "I wouldn't mind shopping with you, but tell me. Does one need to have a partner to attend it? I mean, I would love to attend, but I have nobody to go with." The young man was genuinely curious, as he slightly cocked his head to the left and the loose hair from the bang getting ever so messier.

Max listened with interest as El explained that the type of dust he used was reletively new and super expensive. He made sure that as his friend was talking, he made a few mental notes like how this new combination of powder and crystal dust was one of it's more fine tuned forms. As El continued on about how it could be used in different fabrics like in capes Max couldn't help but scratch his chin as he considered the battle applications of such a practice. As El said that he would gladly use his fabric dust in their sparring match if Max wanted. This made Max nod and smile. "I would like that very much thank you. You see, my family runs a weapon shop back in Rift that offers a dust infusion service if a customer wants it so it would be good for me to learn all I can about all kinds and forms of dust that are out there. Once I graduate and have had my fill of adventuring around the world I plan on opening up a secondary shop as a companion to my parents but on another continent so that we have our feet in other parts of the world."As El said that he would accompany him to go clothes shopping, Max smiled but what El asked him next caused him to raise an eyebrow in slight surprise as El asked if he needed a companion to attend the dance. Max shook his head at this and just smiled a small but warm smile. "As for the Ball, no you don't need a date to be able to attend. I hear it is a rather formal gathering however as it's supposed to represent the bond between all of the kingdoms in the same vein that the tournament serves to show each kingdom the progress of each of the young hunters from their homelands or different home lands so that when we have graduated, the different kingdoms will consider our skills for different jobs. You will need to buy a suit, tie and dress shoes for the ball if you don't already own them. I have an excellent tailor."Max then smiled a small smile and motioned to his tight sleek suit and shined shoes and straightened tie. He then slipped his hands into his pants pockets and just rocked back and forth on his heels while whistling a small tune. Once a few minutes passed by, Max looked back towards El with a curious gaze. "So..is there a specific class in school you like the most? I am quite partial to learning about the types of grim and what they can do. I have always been one to try and plan ahead."El Luna

Ah, so Max's family ran a weapon shop. What was even more interesting, in Rift. It most likely meant that Max himself hailed from that kingdom. An another piece of information for El. Max also noted that he would like to open a shop of his own, but somewhere else. El would've had to ask him about the place later, for future reference. Max then replied to El's earlier question about the dance. It seemed that El would have to dust off his old trousers and what-not. Formal style of clothing wasn't exactly to his tastes, but one evening won't kill him. As they waited for the shopkeeper, Max asked him about the school. That was certainly a question that El wasn't exactly prepared for. Not that he minded it, really.
"I have some formal clothes of my own, so I don't really need to shop myself." Yeah. Some. He'll have to think about that later. "As for my favourite subject... I think I'm alright with all of them. I don't feel like I have any preference towards any of them." El replied as he scratched his chin. He wanted to ask Max the same in return, but he got interrupted by the shopkeeper.
The shopkeeper came back to the front desk, at long last. He placed El's hair-bind-cloth on the counter, along with some other ones. They were a tiny bit thicker than his usual ribbons. "Here's what I managed to get for you." The shopkeeper said and pushed the ribbons in front of El. There were four of them, all quite similar to colour to the original. El took one of them and looked it over. By the looks of it, it was pretty much what El came for. He would place it down, nodding at the shopkeeper. "Yeah, I'll take all of them." El would take out his wallet and proceed to pay for the thread dust. The price wasn't as bad as he expected it to be, but it still left his wallet somewhat uncomfortably light. The young man would take the ribbons and look at Max while he was tying up his bang. "So... ready to head out?" He would ask, just in case.

Max just smiled and silently as the shop keeper came out with El's ribbons. Feeling a bit curious about the strange and rare fabric, Max leaned in and examined it at the same time as his new friend. It was a strange substance that much was for certain. As El tied the ribbons in his hair, Max silently considered the answer to the class question that El had given him. It was always best to be well rounded in ones studies but it was always nice to have a favorite or two. Once El asked if he was ready to go, Max just nodded and pulled his skateboard out from it's holster and headed out of the shop. Once the hunter was outside, he dropped his skateboard to the ground and hopped on, slipping his hands in his pants pockets. "Why don't we grab a bite to eat before the boring task of clothes shopping. I'm kinda starving! I know a really good sandwich shop! Come on let's go!"With a happy smile and a light kick of his foot, Max was off toward the restaurant section of the court yard. The young hunter just stood horizontally on his board with his hands in his pockets and just faced forward. Max made sure that his kick offs were very light so that he just glided at a slow pace. As he traveled, Max looked back at El and gave him a care free smile as if nothing in the world could bother him while on his board. Being on his skateboard on the hard ground seemed to bring the suit wearing, pistol using boy a sort of inner peace that couldn't be expressed in words. "So..what do ya do for fun El? Oh and you have a partner right? My partner Ushio and I are looking to form a four person team and I think it would be kinda cool if we joined forces. Ushio and I are both chefs by habit. If you really think about it, putting together a good meal is kinda like putting together a quality weapon."Max laughed at his comparison as his stomach growled a bit as the two traveled. "I think I'ma get a Tuna salad club with three kinds of cheese, mayo, onions and lettuce..no spinach! I think I'm gonna get a bag of chips and a jumbo chocolate chip cookie too! What about you El!"Max just threw his arms up and cheered happily. Max seemed like a mystery of a boy. He could go from serious to goofy to dangerous and back again at the drop of a hat. Behind that mystery however was someone strong and noble to the core. El Luna
