Agnès MELISANDE BELROSE |
★ APPEARANCE
Agnès is a somewhat tall young woman, who filled out with a very nice hourglass shape in her recent years of growth and maturation, though thanks to her heritage she has not quite finished growing yet. Her muscle tone is light and a bit difficult to distinguish, a deceptive presentation of her immense strength and speed under raw physical power. Though her measurements are certainly nothing impressive or unseen, she cuts a very beautiful figure - especially paired with her flawlessly smooth fair skin and vibrant magenta eyes. Her hair is long and smooth, tied in a pair of braids with two black bows. At the top of her head sits a pair of black cat ears, fluffy and soft, that stand out starkly from her actual hair.
Her classic choice in clothing is often limited to, or at the very least includes, her favorite dress. It’s a simple, short black dress with green flower print, with frilled green trim on the sleeve cuffs, the hem, and around the throat. She wears a matching black bow around her neck, similar in color the color of her dress and the bows in her hair. For more casual outings, she’ll wear a pair of black wrap sandals. She tends to wear the dress over her armor as well.
★ PERSONALITY
★ HISTORY
Agnès Melisande Belrose was born in the Cela Monastery, the only daughter of the woman who had come to be known as Minette Belrose. For the first few years of her life, Agnès spent her days at the Monastery with her mother and the monks. When she was older, about five or so, her mother often went out on missions to keep her skills sharp and her funds at a decent level, leaving her daughter in the care of the monks for the time being.
When her mother wasn't around, Agnès spent the majority of her time with the monks and students of the Monastery, learning how to read and write from them moreso than her parents. They also taught her about Aura, though her training regimen was far less stressful than those of the older students - really just introduction and practice more than anything. When Minette was around during the day, she would spent as much time with Agnès as she could, telling her stories of her journeys, taking her out to see the area around the Monastery, and teaching her about her old home - Menagerie. With talks of Menagerie came talks of the White Fang, and as she began to age, Agnès's curiosity grew.
When she was ten years old, Agnès and Minette went on a trip to Menagerie, so Minette could return to her home to check on the state of things. It was somewhat private business, but at the same time she saw the value of teaching her daughter about the kind of culture she comes from. For some of that day, Agnès was left in the care of one of Minette's old teammates, a man named Ivory. He took her sightseeing while Minette was out seeing her own parents, and she got to see a lot of the land near where her mother lived. Along the way, Ivory taught her bits and pieces of history about Menagerie and Agnès, brimming with curiosity, did her best to steer the conversation towards the Fang every chance she got. And so Ivory told her everything he could about them, including the fact that he himself had recently joined the organization. When they met back up with Minette, Ivory left Agnès a card for a forge in the city of Rift, a friend of his worked there and could get her a weapon that fit her comfortably whenever she wanted to start training.
How Ivory had known they would be moving, Agnès had no idea, but move they did. After her eleventh birthday, Minette and Agnès departed from the Monastery, and from Pinnacle entirely, taking what few possessions they had and moving out to Rift, east of the city proper. Agnès was introduced to another of her mother's former teammates, along with his family. His eight-year-old daughter was someone she found interesting. For someone so small, frail, and quiet, she was surprisingly stubborn and outspoken. It was odd, meeting someone that tried to stand equal with her, who wasn't boring or annoying like most of the other kids she had met. Like Agnès, Celia wanted to be a Hunter one day - even if it was for a vastly different reason. She had a strange sort of respect for her smaller, younger companion, and eventually, as Minette began to train them, they grew into friendly rivals.
Agnès was given the chance to forge her own weapon, when she was 13. Minette brought her into the city of Rift to have her weapon forged, and brought her to the forge that Ivory had given her the card for - an apology for making her wait to let her go to Vytal, knowing she wasn't well-enough acquainted with the use of a weapon even for her underclassmen years. She went off to run some errands and left Agnès at the forge by herself, where she created her "Iron Thorn" weapon set. As she paid, she was given an extra item by the owner. A mask. A white Grimm mask. He gave her a wink, and told her that Ivory picked it out for her.
Embarrassingly, Agnès didn't discover her semblance until her second underclassman year, when she was 14. She had taken her holiday to go back to Menagerie, to train with Ivory so he could check her progress and mentor her. He had her practice her accuracy with her knives, which had been woefully poor even with all of the lessons and training she had done on her own. Ivory had her throwing them easily over 100 feet, at tiny wooden targets - she did horribly. She got progressively angrier and angrier as she missed more and more. Ivory was strict. "Don't try to hit the target. Just hit it." His advice did little to help her. Her frustration began to turn into rage, threatening to boil over as she did her best to carry on while ignoring it. Ivory caught on. "Your anger is very potent - but it lacks direction." He pointed at the target, glaring. "Direct it. Direct your frustrations into your attack, turn your rage into power." She grit her teeth and picked up her knife again. She focused, seething, glaring at the target. That god damn painted log that sat at the end of a hallway made of pure concrete. It stared at her, pristine, unmarred - mocking her. She hated this. She hated it. Her hands shook as her Aura flickered around her, the sensations it brought only adding on to her hatred. She brought the knife up, glowing orange and hot in her hand - but she didn't care. She threw it.
The knife didn't hit the target. It split the target in half.
A year later, she used her holiday to head home to spend time with her family and friends. Minette had told her about Celia's condition as of late. Celia was more important to her than a meeting with Ivory. She'd been, understandably, quite of depressed since her father's death a few months back, and neither Marcie nor Minette had been able to console her - and so Agnès said she would be coming home, to beat some sense into the girl. In the snow, as the sun dipped below the horizon, she found her friend fighting one of her clones. She struck it down, not even flinching as her blade pierced its chest and shattered it into glowing orange fragments. She was tired, cold, and had very little aura. She was a lot stronger, Agnès could tell, but it wouldn't do her any good in her current condition. And it did not.
Agnès dragged her friend back home through the snow, after draining the girl's aura to practically zero. Marcie and Minette were waiting for them both, worried as they never had been before. Agnès could tell that something had happened between the two of them, as they cast nervous glances at one another as Agnès began the conversation her knew they needed to have, about Celia going to Vytal the following year. She defended her friend even as she remained silent and mostly unresponsive, having little regard for the fact that she was arguing directly with the girl's mother while her own mother stood by and nervously did her best to keep them away from one another's throats. In the end, it paid off - The next year, Celia joined her at the academy.
Her Junior year, Agnès returned once again to Menagerie to speak with Ivory, to get into contact with the one who would give her missions. As a parting gift, he gave her a special suit of armor - telling her that they would likely not meet again, and to take it as a parting gift. She felt no real affection for her mentor, but she respected him. She worried about what he meant.
She has yet to find out.
WEAPONS
In lieu of a firearm or other mechanically-powered ranged weapon, Agnès pairs the power of her semblance with a set of lead-core, steel-frame throwing knives that she keeps strapped to the thigh sections of her armor. She keeps two additional knives in a wrist compartment on her armor, connected to a spool of razor-lined steel wire. These knives are larger and heavier than her average throwing knives and can be used as anchors, whips, or grappling hooks as needed. Paired with her semblance the heavy knives can strike with the speed of a bullet, with much higher force thanks to their higher mass.
MISC.
On her right arm is a tattoo done in yellow dust ink, that runs from her shoulder all the way to the back of her wrist. Though hidden by both her dress and her armor, she meticulously maintains it outside of combat and uses it to fuel her semblance. It contains enough dust to power five full-power shots with her semblance.
Agnès will wear her armor beneath her dress as her full battle attire. The armor itself is relatively lightweight compared to many other armor types on the market, and fits over her body from her neck down to her feet in a slim and simple alternative to bulky metal armor. Its base layer is a two-piece form-fitting garment, a soft, stretchy, black material coated with highly conductive and very strong graphene. Her armor is split into sectional pieces along the base layer, a complex network of interlocking pieces of graphene-coated thin steel plates with small gaps between the pieces. When the armor channels electricity from an external force, the gaps between the armor will glow with yellow light. The material her armor is made of renders it highly resistant to projectiles with good durability against slash and stab attacks, while coating her body with a structure that has immense electrical conductivity. The tips of the finger sections contain gravity dust crystals, to ensure she doesn’t drop her knives.
A veil of wine-colored mist envelops you like thick fog on a cold fall day, wafting the scent of fragrant roses and the light air of a coming storm. You feel every fiber of your being energized, boundlessly confident in your movements and thoughts - but there is something else there as well. Deep within you wells a seething hatred, inexplicably burning away at your soul until it consumes you in a blaze of rage. You cannot explain the malice, nor can you truly define what it is that you are even mad at, it is an all-consuming torrent of violence with no direction and no source. It makes you feel...empty inside, as though you have lost something dear you cannot reclaim, and you are simply angry at anything, everything that you can possibly blame for this betrayal. Even yourself.
Primarily, Agnès uses Offensive Enhancement - which will energize her muscles and tint her knives in a wine-colored light, enhancing their durability and sharpness. It's difficult to tell when she uses Defensive Enhancement, as it behaves similarly to it's offensive counterpart, only, instead of energizing her body, it increases the rate at which she is able to process information, allowing her to more effectively block and dodge. Following various unfortunate accidents early into her training before the Academy, Agnès was taught how to Mend her own wounds with her Aura, and has since learned how to mend the injuries of others. During her time in the Academy, Agnès also learned how to use Illumination, which takes on the form of a bright pink light in her case. She can bind the light to her knives and throw them to create a distraction, though the light will fizzle out when the knife hits something.
Costs:
Offensive Enhancement: 5 AP
Defensive Enhancement: 3 AP
Mending: 5-10 AP, depending on severity of injury
Illumination: 3 AP
CRASH
Agnès has the ability to magnetize metallic objects and amplify their energy in order to launch them from her hand at high velocity. The more energy she puts into the object she’s holding, the harder they’ll hit - up to a certain point. If she puts too much power into an object, it can melt or even explode before she has a chance to fire it off. In an emergency, or to preserve her aura, Agnès can channel enegry dust into her semblance instead of pure aura without changing the effects. In absence of dust, Agnès' semblance renders her mostly immune to electricity, allowing her to directly channel from external power sources. As far as she has been able to figure out, energy dust is the only dust type that will effectively pair directly with her semblance, as all other dust types simply change the properties of her projectiles. So far, she has only experimented with Gravity dust and the four core dust types, and she keeps a few vials of each on hand when she's expecting heavier combat.
Costs:
Low-power launch - 8 AP (4 if channeling from Energy dust or external power source)
Medium-power launch - 16 AP (8 AP)
High-power launch - 24 AP (12 AP)

- Fire - Projectiles take on incendiary properties, and will continue to burn a while after hitting their mark.
- Water - Projectiles retain accuracy and force in rain and underwater.
- Earth - Projectiles take on limited "piercing" properties, allowing them to shred through anything weaker than concrete.
- Air - Projectiles experience diminished drop, able to fly further and more accurately.
- Gravity - Impact force of projectiles increases, though they will do the same amount of piercing damage.
