Buddy you're a young man hard man, Shoutin' in the street gonna take on the world some day!
The difference between their stamina was very much like night and day. Though the brunette considered himself to be in an excellent shape, considering the fact that he had to be a hunter, he found himself gasping for air by the time he'd fully caught up to Lily's sprint. Yet, she was standing before him, looking not even remotely worn out. Truly, the girl was someone who had more to her than what her appearance suggested. He could see why some of the teachers teaching applied combat classes were very fond of her (though he already knew that). As Raven came to a slow halt, the hunter let himself lean against one of the trees for support, "So, you're a pretty good fighter, I gotta respect that. Tell me about yourself." She suddenly spoke to him. "And, I guess if you have questions for me, you can ask. I uhh, I don't have many friends yet. This is how you do that right?"Friends.... Raven didn't have much of those himself ever since he was admitted into Vytal. He remembered being surrounded by them before he lost his ability to speak. To be honest, the hunter never would've thought that being inability to talk would be so impeding. It was only after his recovery that he learned how important it was to be able to voice one's thoughts. The scar on his throat drove other people off when he tried to make friends with him, and to add onto his already irritable personality, the boy gave himself a rather unsavory reputation among the students. Yet despite this, Lily was going out of the way to try and know him. It almost seemed as if the ' argument' they had earlier during the day was nonexistent. If it were him in her shoes, he couldn't imagine himself being as forgiving and being a good sport about the loss like that. Lily was a peculiar girl, that was for sure. Once again, the boy dug into his pocket, took out his scroll and typed out a message for her. How was he supposed to start this off? Names? That seemed like a good place to start things. Though he knew Lily, it was likely that she didn't know him. <"Well, I guess we can start out with names."> The boy began, <"Name's Clovis. Raven Clovis, a freshman at Vytal. Sorry, I don't have anything else to say after that. I'm a bit terrible with introductions."> To deliver the point home, he added an emoticon of a cartoon bird with a large sweatdrop forming down on the side of its face. Once again, he erased the message and typed out new ones. Though it was rather easy for him to communicate with others this way, it was... such a hassle at times. The boy earnestly wished that everyone in the school knew how to perform sign languages as he did, but even so - those kinds of people were rare. <"So, you're from the wilds huh? There's already a lot of rumors swirling about who and what you really are,"> Raven paused, <"Why don't YOU tell me about yourself?">MADE BY VEL OF GS

"I'm Lily, Lily..." she paused for a moment, conjuring up the still unfamiliar second name she'd only recently been given. "Lily Wilde. It's nice to meet you Clovis." Her smile was genuine, and sweet. It would be easy enough to forget that not long before it was contorted in anger by his presence.
"One day, we'll both be hunters, and we'll both be powerful ones at that. When that day comes, it'll be better to be friends like this." She said, it was both pragmatic and true. She didn't mean to sound as if she were only interested in his strength, no that couldn't be further from the truth. She was interested because of the kindness he'd seemed willing to show. That was a quality that won her over faster than any display of strength could have ever hoped to.
"I'd be curious to hear exactly what these rumors are..." Lily said, more than a little self consciously. Thus far, she'd only told a select few people, none of whom she'd imagined as the sort to spread that rumor. It never occurred to her that simply her manner of dress, clad in tattered clothes, hair done up with a strand of animal sinew, and barefooted, would be the reason that people spread those rumors. She noted that other people dressed differently, but had no notion of how one might tell one style of dress apart from another in order to figure out their roots.
She looked around. They were now on the outskirts of the town. She saw a familiar delivery boy looking around confusedly. When she was given her scroll, her personal account had also been tethered for the purpose of remote orders such as this one. In her mind however, it was free, all she needed to do was push a button. She hadn't quite figured out the base concept of money. Luckily for her, she barely ever use any.
"We'll talk about that later, right now, I've got this to grab. If we do talk about it though, I'd rather it be in a more private setting."
She jogged over to the boy, who looked surprised, and slightly fearful at her approach. She was only vaguely aware that her jog was incredibly fast for most people.
After she returned to Clovis, she tilted her head towards the woods, which they were standing on the outskirts on. "C'mon, I've got a small section set up for myself in here." She said trotting into the woods with her food still bagged.
She always looked behind her, never letting Clovis fall too far behind. She was totally silent as she moved through the woods, no matter how quickly she moved, the leaves covering the forest floor were undisturbed.
She did finally come to a place where the ground was more disturbed, indicating long term use. She deftly stepped around the small strings of animal sinew which were laid out in a wide web around her encampment. The strings themselves weren't designed to trap, or entangle themselves in the feet of people coming near. Instead, they were each strung up between small sticks stuck in the dirt, all leading to a center point in the camp where the slightest jostle would rattle the tin cans and other bits of metallic loud refuse she'd cobbled together to create an alarm bell.
In the center of the camp there was a dug out, bricked in campfire. A luxury Lily had always wanted to afford herself. She'd not had a permanent encampment since she was a little girl. All of her campfires had been temporary, but this one was something she could always come home to. Even when the fires burned out, the embers remained, making future fires much easier to start.
There were a pair of lean tos built against a tree, as well as a mossy, leaf covered patch bed that was built on a wide bough of a tree that hung over the campground. It seemed to be secured to the tree with a series of vines which hung from the tree tops.
"Okay, here is the place where we can talk." She said gesturing around the place that felt like her true home. "I don't really like the stuffy dorm rooms too much, so I've built this place for my own self. You're actually the first student to see it. Or rather, you're the first student whose been here while I'm also here. I have no idea if anyone has found this place on their own." She said appraising the fire, which was currently burning dangerously low. She trotted over to one of the lean tos, and produced a few small logs and threw them onto the struggling flame. She then took a seat on one of several small logs which had been drug near the fire to work as makeshift seating.
"So, I am from the wilderness. That much is true." She started looking into the fire. Her life before civilization was never far from her mind, but she still didn't enjoy talking about it too much.
"I... well, it was hard out there. The grimm were relentless, and the tribes were nearly as bad. There was no rest. There was no life that wasn't filled with pain, and suffering, and fear. Have you any specific questions?" She asked, her hand absentmindedly drifted towards her sternum, before falling back to her side.

Buddy you're a young man hard man, Shoutin' in the street gonna take on the world some day!
A small smile appeared on Lily's face as she introduced herself to him. For a brief fraction of a second, the young hunter really had almost forgotten that her face would twist with anger and rage by being around his very presence. For that, he was glad that the two were no longer were in bad terms with one another. To be quite honest, this faunus girl was a ferocious opponent to have - and he felt somewhat lucky that their little quarrel didn't have to go any further than it needed to. He saw how the thick soles of his combat boots meant to withstand extreme temperatures melt right off, and she took him on bare handed whereas he used his full arsenal of weapons on her, even going as far as pushing him to make use of his semblance. It was the first time, if ever, that Raven had fought against such an opponent. Though great of a fighter she may be, there was something unique so unique about this girl. If Raven were in her position, he wouldn't have been so easy to forgive. In fact, he would've taken the loss a lot harder - and would've came back to fight another day until he was able to truly overtake his opponent with brute force, and make them submit to his rage. Make them see the wrongs in their actions, how wrong they were in making him their enemy, but instead, Lily was willing to be friends with him, and seemed so... willing to put their past actions behind them. How did people do that? Perhaps it was that kind of trait that made so many teachers gravitate towards this fanus in particular. Even the young hunter found himself fascinated by this dark-haired enigma. "One day, we'll both be hunters, and we'll both be powerful ones at that. When that day comes, it'll be better to be friends like this."Friends.... The young hunter liked the sound of that. To think that he'd gained a friend just by throwing punches caused small a smile to break out in his usual hard features. It was funny, really, but he certainly couldn't complain, though his newfound companion was somewhat quirky in her behavior - as well as the way she dressed. He wondered if it occured to her why people would spread rumors all sorts of rumors about her, considering the way she dressed, how she walked barefooted everywhere, and her hair done in... animal sinew of all things. In fact, the boy wondered if she even used shampoo at all for her hair. Though he couldn't say for himself that he had the sharpest nose of all Remnant, but he was definitely able to tell if someone hadn't taken a proper shower. Eventually, the two found themselves at the outskirts of a town, towards the wilds where the forest of concrete, stones and metal was actually starting to be slowly replaced by an actual forest. There was a delivery boy, hopelessly lost. For a moment, Raven wondered why a delivery boy would be all the way out here in middle of a nowhere, but that all changed when Lily jogged up to him, pressed a few buttons on her scrolls and made series of transactions. <"... I wonder if she even realizes that what she's doing costs money?">"C'mon, I've got a small section set up for myself in here."... A small section? Out here? The brunette tilted his head in curiosity and followed Lily into the woods. With all the branches, vines and bushes getting in the way, Raven had extremely difficulty going through the terrain, whereas the Faunus seemed to be simply walking through it as if it were her own home. As expected of someone who lived in the wilds all their life. However, the hunter realized the deeper they went in, the parts of nature went more disturbed. There were signs of broken tree branches, missing trunks, less vines, grass and fallen leaves. Eventually, the boy came across a small camp with a bonfire burning weakly in the middle of it. "Okay, here is the place where we can talk. I don't really like the stuffy dorm rooms too much, so I've built this place for my own self. You're actually the first student to see it. Or rather, you're the first student whose been here while I'm also here. I have no idea if anyone has found this place on their own."<"Well, this is... different."> Raven thought, <"I probably should have expected something like this coming from her of all people, but it definitely fits her moniker... 'Wilde'. No wonder I don't see her very often at the dorms.">
As Raven sat himself down on a tree trunk, Lily explained to him briefly about what life was like out in the wilds, outside the protection of the kingdoms' vast walls and their armies. Though short, it certainly sounded chaotic enough that no ordinary beings could possibly survive. To think that she was able to do so was impressive, but she sounded rather reluctant in talking about it. Boys and girls trained to become hunters for a reason. Something happened in the past, a calling, or perhaps they lost something and never want to lose it again. Whatever may be, people had their own scars. Raven was no exception to this. As the boy ran his hand over the jagged scar on his neck, he took out his scroll once again started to type in a message for Lily: <"Sorry, I didn't really mean to pry into something that pained you."> He frowned, <"Though... I guess my life was a luxury compared to yours. I can't exactly imagine the kinds of dangers and things you had to do just to survive everyday. For that, you've got my respect."> His eyes fell to his prosthetic arm. There were times when he could still yet feel his fingers, his actual arm, as if it were really there. When his thoughts came to, he'd realize that this obsidian monstrosity which gleaming in its dark colors wasn't his. He almost hated it. Perhaps hate was too much of a strong word. It also served as a reminder for his own powerlessness. Only if he was stronger. <"You know, sitting in front of the campfire feels nice.... It makes you recall things, things you'd almost forgotten. I could almost sleep in front of it.">MADE BY VEL OF GS

As the two sat around the campfire, Lily smiled. She cracked open the curry, before fetching a small wooden bowl she'd spent a fair amount of time carving. She poured roughly half of the delicious soup like mixture into the bowl, and offered the remaining curry in the plastic container to Raven, as well as a plastic spoon.
When she read the message typed out by Raven, her eyes glanced to his arm, and to the scar on his neck. His body language was making it painfully clear that the arm was bothering him, and she couldn't help but wonder if the neck injury had anything to do with the arm injury. Her own hand drifted over her sternum, as painful memories temporarily flooded her mind.
She shoved them all down, smiling again, though a bit more strained this time. She waited a small while before responding to his second message, deciding it'd be best to wait until she was certain her voice wouldn't crack.
"I do sleep in front of the campfire sometimes, it's... well, really nice actually." Failing to respond to his first message in any meaningful way.
She paused to take a sip from the bowl. She had no spoons or eating utensils of any kind, but she had carved the bowl with a gently sloping spout so that it would be easier to consume food from. all she had to do was tilt the delicious, and super spicy (for her tastes, probably pretty mild for most people) meal back into her mouth and let gravity to the rest.
Once she'd had a sip, she stood up, crouching low briefly before leaping on to a low hanging branch nearby. She then began filling another similar bowl with water she'd collected in a basin formed from twigs and leaves. Directly above this branch the trees had been cleared to allow the rainwater to freely fall into the crudely constructed trough.
She downed the bowl in one long chug, before filling it once more and hopping back down to the ground level, offering it to Raven.
"The food is pretty hot, helps to have a little water to drink with it." She said, glad to have anything to focus on other than her memories.

Buddy you're a young man hard man, Shoutin' in the street gonna take on the world some day!
As the brunette sat there, he thought if he'd delve too deeply into Lily's past life and ask something that he shouldn't. The wilds were no doubt, one of the most dangerous places of the Remnant. Vast majority of it was left unexplored, old parts of the kingdoms, unclaimed, only to be taken back by the nature itself. Raven remembered when he first stepped into the untamed world with his parents to make 'Hellhound'. It was frightening, ghastly, even to see a world teeming with Grimm. The kinds of creatures that he heard about in the tales of others. Abominations, something like out of a nightmare. At the same time, the young hunter found a strange sense of beauty in its mystery, to be outside the protection of the kingdom's walls. Through his golden eyes, he saw all sorts of things: Towns, people, and tribes he knew nothing about. He even saw the remnants of the old kingdoms. Perhaps in the end, all he wanted was a connection, to hear from someone who'd come from the wild themselves. To know what it was like. After all these years, Raven never knew that he was still the same kid who wanted to see the outside world. He despised it, his curiosity. It was the reason why he lost his arm, his voice, everything and everyone that he knew he had. The hatred and self-pity turned to something akin to frustration, bursts of rage, and before he knew it, he was spewing it to others. It just... kind of became a habit. Raven knew he wasn't exactly like this before he entered Vytal. Teachers recommended him for 'Anger Management' course to help him, but that did very little thus far. He remembered the academy psychologists telling him that recovery was going to take time, even if he did. it'd remain. Much like the scar on his neck. But Raven cared very little about his recovery, or his 'psychological well-being' bullshit that the professors were forcing down his throat. He knew he was sane enough even they threw a bunch of nonsensical medical texts at him. He just wanted his sister back, but did she think the same way? No, he could still very much remember the time when he'd opened his eyes back in the hospital after months of intense treatment and surgery. After fighting against death itself, he was met with such hatred that he broke in tears. Even if he wanted to scream, he couldn't. Perhaps that was the worst feeling of all. Not being able to scream, or utter a single word as Jackie turned her back on him, and stormed out of the room. However, his golden eyes staring aimlessly into the dancing flames were ripped away by a sudden hand outstretched towards him. For a moment he'd forgotten that he was in a conversation with Lily. Raven looked up, only to see the wild faunus was handing him a bowl of water collected from... well, god knows where she got them. It looked pretty clean, so it had to be good to drink. "The food is pretty hot, helps to have a little water to drink with it." Food...? Oh, he had food as well. He'd forgotten about the fact that he was still holding it in his hand. His nose took a small wiff of the fragrant. Already, the boy could tell it was quite spicy and was colored in strange earthy colors - almost as if it were made from mud. How could anyone eat this? Raven looked up at Lily, then back down at the food. The boy took the water first, set it off to the side before taking a small sip of the soup. .... Perhaps he regretted even trying it. Frantically, the boy set the soup off to the side and chugged the bowl full of water down his throat in hopes of quenching the strange taste in his mouth. However, water didn't help much. Raven gasped, quickly grabbed another bowl of water at Lily's side and drank like a man who'd been wondering out in the desert for several days. Glowering, Raven turned back to Lily, with an obvious tint of anger growing on his features. <"ARE YOU TRYING TO KILL ME?!"> He wiped off the droplet of water from his mouth, <"Even if that's a pay back for the loss from the fight, that's a LITTLE too cruel, don't you think? Sheesh, how can anyone eat this?">MADE BY VEL OF GS

Lily stepped back, her ears flattening, and the smile fleeing from her face with a speed appropriate for the mach two girl. She took another step back and said in a shaky voice "I-I'm sorry, I didn't mean- I mean, I didn't think you'd dislike it."
She sighed, she hadn't realized that people might dislike food. She had always just eaten whatever was available. The amount of pleasure she derived from any given dish was negligible. Out in the wilderness, you ate what you could, when you could. Here in civilization food was plentiful. She'd never really considered how that fact might effect the pallets of the people who were never exposed to scarcity.
"I-I can get you something else, there are deer and rabbits in this forest, as well as all manner of fish and uhh... I think I saw some herbs I was familiar with growing not too far from this meadow, I could go get you something else and have it ready for you in half an hour or so." She said, feeling just awful. She had intended to show him her sanctuary and give him some tasty food as a show of good will, but instead she'd insulted him. While his dissatisfaction with the food annoyed her, she told herself that the different culture was to blame and that she should just accept that was how things were.
Her ears perked up as she remembered something she'd prepared for herself, but that she'd be more than happy to share with her guest if it helped to ease tensions. She rushed over to the second lean to she had constructed and pulled on a string. When it came free, she rushed back over to Raven and presented him with the string of smoked meats. A mixture of squirrels who'd been foolish enough to venture into her campsite, and rabbits that she'd hunted on the periphery of her camp.
"It's really fresh, should be plenty tender." She said, looking hungrily at the meats, but offering up the string nonetheless.
It wouldn't be too hard to replenish the supply of meats. She'd planned on increasing her stock anyway. It was a good idea to have a large supply of the stuff on hand in case of an emergency. Plus, it tasted really good. The smoking process didn't take too long either, and her fire pit was deep enough that it wasn't too much of a hassle to smoke meats over it. Besides, a it would be more than worth it to exchange a bit of meat if it helped preserve her new and budding friendship with Raven.

Buddy you're a young man hard man, Shoutin' in the street gonna take on the world some day!
"I-I'm sorry, I didn't mean- I mean, I didn't think you'd dislike it." Before he could write out a retort of his own back at Lily's apology, the enraged golden-eyed brunette found himself abruptly stopping his fingers from running across the Scroll's illuminating touchpad. Again, the young hunter found himself getting furious, and over what? Over something that obviously wasn't to his own tastes? Raven remembered the reason they'd fought earlier in the academy. It was over something so small, a conflict that could have been so easily dissolved if he'd simply hadn't gotten angry over something so... petty. By the time he'd realized it, both were swinging their fists at each others' faces like some children. Raven couldn't scream - neither yell, so all he could do was to swing his fists at the problems he faced. Fight them, meet it head on. It worked, for a time. However, as the days gone by, his friends simply disappeared one by one. Not in a literal sense, but they simply left him. Even the ones he knew as children, the ones he could consider childhood friends. He thought at least they would stand by him 'till the end, but even them, he took their friendship for granted. Why couldn't he realize that... there were precious things to him more than anything until they were gone? Even with this budding friendship between him and Lily, he took for granted. <"Damn it, what do I say? I bet I made her angry again. Saying 'sorry' just won't cut it....">"I-I can get you something else, there are deer and rabbits in this forest, as well as all manner of fish and uhh... I think I saw some herbs I was familiar with growing not too far from this meadow, I could go get you something else and have it ready for you in half an hour or so."God, she must've felt awful after he'd gotten pissed at her, and over something so small as well. Yet she was STILL willing to accomodate him? Her former enemy of all people? To someone she hated a while ago, like an important guest at her own home? What was he supposed to say to this? Creastfallen, the brunette slowly headed back to his seat and sat there as Lily seemed to just fly towards a nearby object that he didn't fully recognize. Rather, he just didn't care enough to see it. Like her, he felt just as awful over what he'd wrote out of impulse. Then, a second later, she rushed back to him with a string of meat of... whatever they were. He assumed they were wild animals that she'd killed and hunted down during her stay. They looked relatively fresh - though the smell itself was rather strange. He wasn't sure what they were cured with, but they smelled exotic, and unfamiliar enough to briefly draw his curiosity. She said that they were fresh and was good to eat, so they should be able to eat it without any problems - no, wait, that wasn't the problem here. Though hungry, his attention turned back towards Lily who was offering him something that she'd hunted down. She must've worked hard for those. He knew she did. Hunting was no easy work by any means. Only god knows how long it took to catch, skin, and prepare them. Yet, she was willing to surrender them all. The boy couldn't take the offerings. Shaking his head slowly, Raven reached for his scroll and attempted to draw her attention to it. With each tap, he wrote out a few phrases, but he found himself erasing it, again writing, then erasing it again. The boy simply wasn't sure what he was supposed to say. <"No, I can't take them. I just... what I'm trying to say is that: I'm sorry about that. You didn't need that, and I got angry over something so small."> He brushed his mechanical hand over his head, <"Me, getting angry at people. It's become kind of a habit. I wasn't like this, I swear. I just... look, I'm taking anger management classes to get better. I really am, so... what I'm trying to tell you is...."> He paused. <"Don't hate me.">Don't hate me. Perhaps that was probably the only possible desperate phrase that Raven could possibly think of to say to his friend to not make her hate him for what he did. MADE BY VEL OF GS

Lily looked at the final message that Raven had left for her and she couldn't help but to look at him as if he'd just told a joke.
"Hate you?" she asked trying not to laugh, "Look, I was mad at you earlier, but that was a faaaaar step away from hating you." she said looking down at the meat she held in her hands.
"Look," she said sitting on the log next to him, putting a hand on his shoulder.
"I lived out there for my entire life. Until I was eight I had the protection of a tribe. Until I was fifteen I had the protection of my parents. Once I had neither, I had to protect myself. The only things I knew were grimm, slave taking tribes who looked at me with hungry eyes, and violent tribes who wouldn't suffer my presence in their territory. Two of those groups wanted me dead, and the third wanted to keep me captive so they could..." She stopped for a moment, shuddering. "Nevermind them, the fact of the matter is this. I won. Until my last day alone out there I beat everything that came my way, or escaped with my head held high. Until that last day I..." She paused again, her hand resting just below her sternum, which was suddenly burning up. "Well, nevermind that as well. The point I'm trying to make here is that you're nothing like those guys. You've got a temper, but you're not rotted to the core. The fact that you are even worried about what I think about you is proof enough." She stood up again offering him a piece of the jerky once more. "So sit with me by my fire, share my food and my drink, and be my comrade. It doesn't need to be any more complex than that." She took a piece of the rabbit jerky at that declaration, and bit into it. Even the rabbits in the kingdoms were fatter, and the meat more tender and delicious than the fare she could hunt in the wilds.
She moved back to her original sitting place, feeling a little uncomfortable with the amount of information she'd just shared. She hadn't really told too many people much about the wilderness. She supposed she'd have to talk about it occasionally at least though. She was a little glad that this young boy was the first to hear these specific tidbits of information.

Buddy you're a young man hard man, Shoutin' in the street gonna take on the world some day!
Admittedly, he must've looked rather stupid typing all that out, trying so desperately not to lose a friend he'd made like last time he attempted to make one. Given how he'd lashed out at her earlier over something so small, the brunette figured she'd be angry at him, or something. However, her words assured him that was far from the truth. In fact, she was only simply mad at him, if only for a moment. Hearing that made the mute feel tad bit better, but still yet just as shameful, causing Raven to scratch the side of his cheek, unable to make eye contact with Lily. "Look," She suddenly tapped his shoulder, causing the mute's attention to drift back at the girl sitting at his side. As Lily sat next to him, she talked a brief bits of her past, the life outside the walls of the kingdoms as she'd done earlier, but... this one was different than the last as she'd began to explain things in more detail about her background. The wilds, also known as the 'no man's land' was harsh, but he never could've imagined how hard it was for her. The Grimm, the enemy tribes that she had to deal with. It almost... sounded as if she lived her entire life running away. But the reason why she was talking to him about this, Raven had no clue, but somewhere in his mind, the boy had a strange feeling that he was able to relate to that, somehow. In a way, he too spent his life running - though in a bit of a more aggressive approach than her. Punching things, simply getting angry at it. Two of them had a troubled past, something that caused them to become who they were to this day. "Well, nevermind that as well. The point I'm trying to make here is that you're nothing like those guys. You've got a temper, but you're not rotted to the core. The fact that you are even worried about what I think about you is proof enough."
<"I wonder."> Raven's inner monologue never came out. He stayed silent throughout the girl's entire explanation, but that certainly didn't mean he wasn't listening - even though his eyes did drift back to the fire eventually. Perhaps he was overthinking things, small little things that didn't really matter. Lily was indeed right, it didn't need to get complex. With a small smile creasing across his hard features, the boy took a small piece of rabbit that was smoked over the fire and bit into it, which was surprisingly juicy and tender than the farm-bred ones. The wild rabbits definitely tasted better than what he was used to eating, and it was the kind of taste that he'd never come to forget. MADE BY VEL OF GS

Lily smiled as Raven finally took her offering. She had seen his gaze drifting to and from the fire, and fetched a few more logs to add fuel to the flame. The fire dimmed for a while, as it processed the new fuel. She poked at it with a sturdy stick that had a blackened tip. It had been hardened by the fire, and had a permanent spot in her camp as the fire turning stick. She took a seat next to the silent boy who was slowly warming up to her.
Since he wouldn't fill the silence with anything, she chose to. Not because the silence disturbed her, she had gone for incredibly long stretches of time without speaking a word to anyone.
"I never wanted to be alone out there y'know? Well, maybe a little bit. The first year of being alone I guess I did a little bit. After that though, I tried to find my way into some new home. Every time I found a community that didn't seem terrible, I would watch them. I'd wait until I was absolutely sure that they weren't monsters, and approach them. Sometimes I was met with fear, others suspicion. Generally, people would think that nobody could survive alone out there. They would accuse me of working with bandits, or rival tribes. Nobody trusts each other out there. It's... It's awful." She said wiping a tear from her cheek that she hadn't really really realized had even formed.
"So, one day, when I've finished with this school, I'm going to go back out there. I'm going to secure a nice little place to call my own. I will defend it with whatever strength this school imbues me with." She said, determination and willfulness entering into her voice. "I'm going to kill every grimm who dares even come within a mile of my new home, and I will give everyone a place. No kingdom allegiances, no worries about politics, or anything silly like that. I've been reading my histories for a while now. The kingdoms keep on going to war with each other. War, peace, war, peace. The cycle never ends. Everyone is always competing to be on top. You know who wins? The grimm do. So, I'll build a place where people can go who are sick of that life can come and find peace. People in the wilderness, who have never been able to trust another soul will see our marks and know that we're here to help. We're here to kill the grimm that plague them and restore peace to their homes. We won't weaken ourselves fighting against other kingdoms. Ours will be the war that needs to be fought. Must be fought."
A slight red tinted her cheeks, she realized she had been rambling a bit, and sheepishly rubbed the back of her head with her right arm. "I mean, if I don't do something stupid and get myself killed before I ever have a chance at making that happen. Who knows though, one day maybe my little piece of the world will be a kingdom in it's own right. There have to be other hunters and huntresses out there who see things the same way I do right?"
