| TAKE ME TO VALHALLA WHERE MY BROTHERS WAIT FOR ME | |
A small grunt left Alburn's lips as he landed on the ground with a loud 'thud', kicking up a miniature dust cloud as he did so. Already, the semblance was started to take some toll on his overall body. The aching of his limbs told him that much. Your average human bodies simply weren't meant to exude that much force at once. It could only take so much pressure before ultimately breaking down. In fact, he never had to prolong the use of its ability in a single bout, but in this fight, he did. For now, he briefly deactivated his semblance and let out a heavy puff to release some tension in his already taxed muscles. A brief moment of repose was all that he needed, but in moment's notice, a figure started to emerge from the darkness. A familiar figure, the shape of his foe. The golden darkness. The 'Red-Eyed Maiden'.
Once again, Alburn readied his weapon as he narrowed his eyes. She tracked him much faster than he first anticipated, but this solidified the theory about her abilities further. Even so - he wasn't so sure if he was ready to reactivate his semblance again. Would she notice? If she did, then she could definitely cease the chance she had to come at him with full force, but she never did.... Instead, his foe did something which surprised him, more so than taking off his mask:
“You’re a pretty good fighter. What’s your name?”
'... What?'
After pointing her sword in his general direction, she lowered it. Her voice was soft - almost too soothing, almost alluring for Alburn to lower his guard. It was ridiculous, talking in middle of some life-or-death battle like if it were some casual conversation between newly met acquaintances. Asking names, complimenting each other. Well, it certainly wouldn't be wrong for either of them to see things that way. Even though they were enemies by definition, the two fighters were still acquaintances. Technically. The odd realization of such events almost made the Police Officer chuckle a little because of how laughably ridiculous this overall situation was. If she was so willing to do so, then he was thankful for it. He could use a little rest, for now, but that certainly didn't mean that his guard was down.
Alburn was a bit curious about the 'Red-Eyed Maiden' anyway (a lot, admittedly). Though he wasn't the one to play 20 Questions with criminals - or anyone for that matter, he was willing to make an exception. Just this once.
"Just some passing by Police Officer," Alburn vaguely replied as he rested his odd weapon over on his shoulder, "... But you're giving me quite a bit of run for my money. Take it however as you'd will, but nobody has given me so much trouble until you came along. What are you - no, perhaps the better question is: How you're sided with White Fang if you're a human. I didn't think they'd take human contractors and sympathizers. Are they simply getting that desperate? Or are you simply disguising yourself to make yourself look like one?" -- Remaining Usage for Rounds in Chamber -- - 1x Red; (1/3) Active- 2x Green; (5/6) - 1x Black; (3/3)- 2x Orange; (6/6)AP: 600/650▲

DON’T FALL TOO FAR FROM WHO YOU ARE 寂しい 。。。 This battle had taken a very interesting turn. Only moments ago, these two capable fighters were exchanging blows in the midst of a blazing inferno. Only moments ago, either of them were intent on taking the other down. Now, here they stood, face to face. Coquel’s eyes were locked on the officer’s, showing no sign of letting that contact go. Eyes were a good way of reading a person. They were the proverbial window to the soul, so what did his soul tell her? Unfortunately, nothing. Quel was terrible at reading others, resulting in some very painful mistakes being made in the past. Still, something about her opponent was different. He didn’t stand as an imposing figure. In fact, he seemed of average height and build compared to other Huntsman she had interacted with in the past. The only thing of discernible difference, to her, was his resolve - his heart. Now there was another facet to humanity that she didn’t understand. Hearts. They had the power to stop armies, to reduce kingdoms to nothingness. Yet, they were the most fragile of things, breaking at the softest word like a pane of glass. There were times when she hated having one. Had this man been anyone else, had the circumstances of their meeting been any different, Coquel probably would have ended his life when he stepped foot in the warehouse. Instead, she opted to spare him, because something about him was different. Something about him was an exception. He managed to push her in ways an opponent hadn’t in ages, forcing her to rely on her Semblance when skill alone helped her cut down post enemies. It was because of this that, luckily for him, this officer had earned her utmost respect. She didn’t want to kill someone so strong - someone so capable. Remnant would need him, someday. When he blatantly dodged her request for his name, part of her felt like she should have seen it coming. The fluttering sense of idiocy forced a soft snicker to escape her lips, her breath floating into the cool air in a light haze. “They call me Remmy around here.” She said, her voice still calm and collected. “Despite my appearance, I am a Faunus. It’s hard to tell, isn’t it?” She tugged back the corner of her mouth to make one of her cuspids more noticeable. It was slightly pointed, a common trait among the Faunus people. Removing her finger from her mouth, she smiled. “Where did you learn to fight? Did you go to Vytal?” She added, resuming her brief line of questions. “I was trained at the Cela Monasteries. It’s where I was raised.”Her grip on Daedalus tightened as she reminded herself of the situation. They were, technically, in the middle of a battle. As much as she might have wanted otherwise, that was a fact she had to be careful not to let go of. Doing so would get her arrested - or worse. Looking down to the ground, Coquel’s smile faded and was replaced with a somber expression. “You’re not going to let me go, are you?” She asked, even her tone of voice reflecting the mood. In fact, it almost sounded like she was begging. “Don’t make me kill you. Please.”“Please don’t make me kill you.” AP: 700/740 Pommels-on-person:2x Fire 2x Earth 2x Ice 2x Wind 2x Energy 2x Gravity 2x Void TRY TO TEAR US APART BUT KNOW THAT WE’LL WEAR OUR SCARS MADE BY ★MEULK

Remmy.... Alburn somehow doubted that was her real name. What kind of criminals gave themselves anyway? Especially to the members of the law-enforcement. Regardless of who she was, he found that it was much better than simply calling her with mouthful of words saying: 'Red-Eyed Maiden'. Perhaps that moniker was the shortened version of her title to hide her true identity. Whatever the case might've been, he was more interested whether she was a Faunus or not, because depending on her answer... it would decide the outcome of this bout. Alburn was willing to gamble his life on this plan. His car was not too far from his position, and with his keychain, he could easily call it over in a matter of seconds. Then, the answer came. The woman told him that she indeed was Faunus in nature, even going as far as showing the fangs to him. A common trait for the most of her kind. He should've suspected as much. For a high-profile killer who happened to be a member of a White Fang, it wasn't too far-fetched in theory that they would've gone through some form of surgery to look like a human. For a moment, Alburn's dark blue eyes wondered over on top of Remmy's head before locking them back to her ruby-colored iris'. "Hm, that's too bad," Alburn shrugged as he silently measured the distance between the two of them, "I honestly think you would've looked better with your ears...."With a smile on her face, the woman excited threw him with another series of entertaining questions. She seemed almost eager to know more about him, which again - surprised Alburn, causing him to raise one of his eyebrows. However, it seemed like she was more interested in learning how he was 'busting out his moves' per say. The Police Officer briefly dug into his past years as a student in Hunter's Academy, where he learned to fight, to sharpen his fangs for the dark world that he'd be stepping his into. Then the Police Force sharpened his skills further. Though they weren't quite in the league with the hunters in terms of combat skill, one could learn a lot being around these good men and women. Thinking about it, even the male found a small smile creeping across his face. He was so proud of himself when he first donned that uniform. Alburn knew that even his father would've been so proud of him for his decision. "The Hunter's Academy, and the Legion's Police Force" The Police Officer stepped a few feet forward before abruptly stopping about 4 meters away from Remmy, "And yes, I went to Vytal during my Freshman and Sophomore. Two year winner, mind you." The woman then spoke of where she was trained. Cela Monastaries. Alburn repeated the name of that location a few times in his head to memorize it, but the sirens in the distance quickly shook him out of his thoughts. For a moment, he almost forgot that they were in middle of a fight. Was he enjoying this conversation...? No, he simply stalling time, wasn't he? They were enemies. Two opposing forces on opposite sides of the battlefield. They weren't supposed to get along, there couldn't be any emotional connections. Otherwise... it'd get too complicated to deal with her later on. Even the woman seemed to getting her head back into the situation. Good, he wasn't planning in letting her go anyway - even if he did enjoy this short conversation, if not slightly. With that, the mood between the two soured. Darkened. Shadows cast over their faces. There were no more smiles. The two fighters started to bare their true natures once more, their fangs. "What other answers did you expect out of me?"Alburn tightened the grip around the Second Sun in his hand. He was a little disappointed that their talk had to end so abruptly, but all good things had to come to an end. If the circumstances have been different - no. No more distractions. “Don’t make me kill you. Please. Please don’t make me kill you.” "You don't have to worry too much about that," Alburn slipped his left hand into his pocket, reaching for his keychain as he activated the Second Barrel of his Railgun. "Because... I'm taking you in, Remmy!"
Capturing the soundwaves of the sirens, Alburn compressed it and smashed the two waves into the location that he suspected to be her ears to knock out her sense of hearing temporarily. He long figured that the real reason why she was able to block a lot of his attacks and know where he was, was indeed due to her semblance and that acute sense of hearing thanks to the Faunus' trait. As he'd done so, he pressed his finger against the keychain to call the car to his location and shoot riot gas at her. Immediately, the armored car - which could only be described as a miniature tank shot out from Remmy's right side and shot three canisters of riot gas in her direction. Even if she did see - or hear this coming, she'd be forced to hold her breath just not to take in its belligerent side effects which would not only slightly burn her lungs, but also cause so much pain in her eyes that she wouldn't be able to open them without feeling as if her eyeballs were starting to melt. This was all a distraction for Alburn's plan. Quickly spinning his cylinder, he cocked back the hammer on his gunblade and thrusted it forth as he pulled the trigger. At that moment, he released a torrent of violent cyclone directly at Remmy - all the while blowing the riot gas in her direction. If she was hit by this, she'd definitely be knocked into the containers, imprisoning her in twisted metal and gas which would linger a little longer in the air before dissipating. That ought to hold her for that time being until he cuffed her wrists, or at least, that's what he hoped for. -- Remaining Usage for Rounds in Chamber -- - 1x Red; (1/3) - 2x Green; (4/6) Active- 1x Black; (3/3)- 2x Orange; (6/6)AP: 550/650▲

DON’T FALL TOO FAR FROM WHO YOU ARE 寂しい 。。。 Grinning, Coquel finally accepted their fate. This would be a battle, most likely, to the death. She couldn’t be taken alive, not now, not with so much left to do. Something was stirring up to the south. Something dark, something far more wretched than she could ever make herself seem. War. It was on the horizon, it was the only thing she knew was a certainty. Warding off tears, Coquel raised her weapon as her opponent’s grip on his own sword tightened. Suffice to say, he would not be leaving the pier with her - alive or dead. She resolved to get away. She would not be a prisoner. As the sound waves of the sirens in the distance rippled through the air, they assimilated into the invisible nature of Gallows. The force of these waves flowed around her body, an imperceptible power ready to be unleashed at her will. Her grip on Daedalus tightened as he lunged forward, her eyes carefully analyzing each and every one of his movements. This was the nature of the Cela Monastery’s training. Learn your opponent, read them as to better defend yourself. She braced for his attack, ready to lean out of range of his sword if need be. What Coquel did not expect was the car, erupting from nowhere to her right. Surprised, her attention was taken from her opponent to the car, which proceeded to fire three canisters. He was an officer, which allowed her to deduce rather quickly what these small cans contained. She was going to have to think fast, especially with her opponent sure to use this to his advantage. Her expression changed to a scowl as she swapped out the pommel on Daedalus once again, this time opting for Air. This allowed Daedalus to cleave through the air with little resistance, but also afforded her other abilities pertinent to the element - specifically manipulating airflow in a sense. The policeman’s attack came at about the time Coquel would have expected it, an intense wave pulsing in her direction with the purpose of pushing the gas - as well as herself - back. It was a good tactic, by the by. In fact, Coquel was even a little impressed. All of this from some lowly cop, huh? The thought forced the smirk to return to her face, anticipation building. A weight in her chest was becoming her driving force - this was the most fun she had the pleasure of experiencing in years. As her opponent’s wave neared, she threw up her Aura Barrier before twisting her body and activating the Wind Dust in her sword. Running its course, the gust conjured by her weapon spun up from the ground, picking up the riot gas like a vacuum. Thrusting her sword in his direction, Coquel cast it towards him, intent on using his own gas against him. Regardless of that outcome, she dashed up the walkway of a nearby ship, hoping to lose her pursuer in the midst of her attack. With any luck, she’d be home free. With any luck, he’d leave her alone. With any luck… She wouldn’t have to kill him. As expected, she was quick to react to his attack, and once again, Remmy slipped past his fingers before he could truly catch her. The woman was slippery. This made the officer click his tongue audibly at the thought as she seemed to somehow suck up the riot gas into her blade before shooting them out again in his direction. Before the gas and her own version of ferocious gust reached him, Alburn activated The Railgun, Primary Barrel and shot himself into the air before the gas managed to fill the area. With the bird's eye view of the area, he was able to easily tell where the woman was heading, a walkway towards a nearby ship. Perhaps hoping to get away by the water before he was able to catch her. Not going to happen. Upon landing on top of a metal container, Alburn jumped down on the pavement, storming after the 'Red-Eyed Maiden' from another route. Thanks to his Semblance, regardless of which direction he took, the male knew he'd be able to quickly catch up to her. He didn't want the woman to think that he was after her; in fact, he wanted her to think that he was affected by the attack, hacking and coughing from the riot gas that she threw back at him. Then, from the corner of his eyes, he could see a figure from his far left - his foe, making a getaway to the ship as he'd suspected. Once again, the male put strength into his legs and propelled himself towards the walkaway, allowing him stand between her and the destination that she was about to reach. So close, yet so far. "I told you: You're not going anywhere until I cuff your hands," He pointed the Second Sun in her direction, ".... Don't make me use any more force than I must. Also, you're already surrounded. The Legion's SWAT teams will be here at any minute. There will be choppers, snipers and Coast Guards locking down this entire sector down even if you do get on that ship. You won't get away, not with your life if we keep doing this." If she didn't then... Alburn determined that he'd be the one to cuff her. It was better that he took her in than anyone else in the force combined. They simply weren't equipped to deal with the kind of threat that this woman imposed - they had no idea the kind of forces that they were dealing with. If she decided to put up resistance, there were no more tricks that the Police Officer could possibly pull off. His trump card earlier had been that ace-in-the-hole, and now, the only thing that he could hope for was that the backup would get here before she managed to get away again. He'd force her surrender that way, if not.... Alburn was more than prepared to use lethal force to stop her if he had to - though that certainly wasn't the route that he had hoped to take, or consider for that matter. However, the option was there, thanks to the confirmation order that he'd received from the radio. With that in mind, the aura started to glow faintly out from his body, preparing him to shield him from whatever Remmy had to throw at him. He wouldn't be caught off guard this time, but somewhere in his mind, this place would be the final destination of their battle. There were no room for mistakes, no room for hesitation or wavering thoughts. Whatever moves they made could potentially be their last. The resolve was made, the finger was ready on the trigger. Tightening the grip around his weapon, Alburn took a heavy step forward, causing the pavement beneath him to crack slightly from the sheer force he exuded. -- Remaining Usage for Rounds in Chamber -- - 1x Red; (1/3) - 2x Green; (4/6) Active- 1x Black; (3/3)- 2x Orange; (6/6)AP: 524/650▲

DON’T FALL TOO FAR FROM WHO YOU ARE 寂しい 。。。 Just as Coquel thought she was home free, her opponent returned, this time cutting her off. She scowled at the man, a low growl of sorts quietly rumbling under her breath. This guy just didn’t let up, so what was she to do? It was becoming more and more apparent that she was going to have to hurt him, but something was keeping her from doing it. Whatever it was, at the end of the day she’d rationalize it as her just not wanting to hurt any more people than she already had. Furrowing her brow, Coquel stared down her attacker while trying to figure out the next course of action.”You won't get away, not with your life if we keep doing this."She scoffed at the officer, swiping her hair out of her eyes before tucking it behind her ear. “I gotta say, officer. I admire your perseverance, truly.” She said, her hand planted firmly on the hilt of her sword. “If you’re going to threaten my life, then I will have to do whatever it takes to preserve it - even if that means killing you.” Raising Daedalus slowly, pointed right at him, Coquel released a heavy sigh. “It’s a damn shame, too.” She added, smirking as she eyed his own raised sword. “Another time, another place - you and I probably could have been friends or something.”Gallows, the Void King flared up, several (4) sonic blasts slamming against her opponent. Ready for him to jump back, or simply follow up to the initial blast, several more (4) would pelt him from behind to throw him back in her direction. Hopefully discombobulated from this, Coquel swiped up and diagonally, starting from her right. She didn’t stop there, though. She was now fighting to stay alive - her survival instincts had taken control. Following up with her slash, Coquel activated the fourth and final Void of Gallows. She hadn’t paid much attention, but she guessed he was within five feet of her.The Void King rumbled with intense power, the ultimate manifestation of her Semblance crushing the bridge they stood on. There was no route to escape, for him - nor for her. The walkway crumbling beneath their feet, Coquel plummeted towards the water. Thinking fast, she held her breath as she smacked against the surface and sank into the depths below. The world under the water was almost serene, calming in the heat of the battle that had ensued. As she drifted towards the bottom of the harbor, Quel was left wondering what had happened to her opponent in all the chaos.Had any of her bursts hit? Had her sword hit? Had Four Void, such an Aura heavy feat to perform, met its mark? Finally shaking off the bit of shock that kept her from returning to the word above, Coquel began swimming towards the light of the fire on the pier. When she eventually broke the surface, she climbed up the concrete wall to the broken remains of the walkway. Her breathing labored, she tiredly flopped onto her back and stared up at the stars. Hopefully this was all over. Coquel wasn’t sure she had it in her to continue anymore, and she hoped more than anything that she wouldn’t have to find out. “I gotta say, officer. I admire your perseverance, truly. If you’re going to threaten my life, then I will have to do whatever it takes to preserve it - even if that means killing you," The woman brandished her sword at him, “It’s a damn shame, too. Another time, another place - you and I probably could have been friends or something.”Despite his best efforts to disarm her with words alone, Alburn had a feeling that he really should have expected such answer out of someone like 'Remmy', but it was well-worth the try. However, if she were to ask the same question to him, would he have responded any other differently like she'd just done? No. If there was anything that the two fighters had something in common, then it was their iron-grit will to never withdraw from a challenge when they were presented with one. One was an unstoppable force - and the other was an immovable object. Suffice to say, the only way that either of them would finally stop was if one of them simply broke. So who would break first? Alburn was sure that the woman also came down to the same conclusion. bgm;; Premonition The answer was clear. Alburn brandished his gunblade and took up his stance. There was little need for words at this point. Their blades will do the talking now. Then, it came. The rumbling in the air, but unlike before, the Officer wasn't caught unprepared. Though he wasn't able to see it coming, he was able to kind of 'assume' the direction that she'd shoot from from their brief few clashes. Immediately, the Officer flashed from his position to the right, then the left, right, left, then right again to continuously throw off her aim. While she might've had the advantage in terms of hearing, her body - nor her eyes was no where near fast enough to keep up with him. This allowed him to throw off her blows - at least most of them until one hit him smashed against his back. "KUH-" His vision wavered slightly from the pain, but his aura seemed to have taken the brunt of the damage itself. Even so, the force was strong enough to send him sprawling forward towards her. Her assault didn't stop there. Seeing this as an opening, the 'Red-Eyed Maiden' immediately attempted to followed it up with a sword strike of her own, just like what he would've done. Diagonal - true to its target, fast and strong like a steel predator leaping towards its prey of opportunity. He was open - there was nothing he could do. Even if he were to bring up his Gunblade to parry the strike, it'd be too late. Even so, Alburn preferred it this way. Fighting, constantly. It was then when he found a line of pain creasing itself across his face. It was hot, it felt as if his face was on fire. He didn't know which direction the sword had cut him in, but the right side of his vision reddened from the amount of blood which poured forth from the wound. It was this brief moment of loss of control. All thoughts left Alburn - all rationality simply vanished; only replaced by his desire for the bloody vengeance and primal anger dating back since the day when humans first set foot onto this world. Vengeance to trade a blow for another. A raw instinct to survive, to fight against the looming threat before him. Alburn simply lost control. "ARUGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" The warrior dragged the silver edge of his gunblade on the ground. Kicking up sparks and sliced rocks as he swiped upwards. The blade slashed through the air with little resistance, and its steel sang the deadly hymns as it did so. Alburn wasn't sure if his blade had reached her at this point, but the next thing he knew - he fell into the infinite darkness which attempted to consume him. Cold. Lonely. Its arms infinitely expanding, continuing to embrace him, but the male fought. He desperately swam for the light of the surface until he climbed for the broken remains of the walkway. From there, he collapsed, flat against his body. In the distance, he could see the 'Red-Eyed Maiden' in the same, pitiful state as he was. Gritting his teeth, he attempted to crawl forward, but exhausted all the strength that he had left in his body, his semblance simply started to vanish. That was when he realized that he really did put ALL of his power behind that strike earlier. He sighed, forced himself to roll his body against his back to intake as much as air that he could and looked up to the star-filled night sky, lit up by distant flames and sirens. -- Remaining Usage for Rounds in Chamber -- - 1x Red; (1/3) - 2x Green; (4/6) Active- 1x Black; (3/3)- 2x Orange; (6/6)AP: 524/650▲ We could probably use this to give our characters the scar ● Ceyla Regenwald ● none
