D'gerik Blackheart |
★ APPEARANCE
For the most part, D'gerik looks like just about any other individual his age. Hair as white as snow, never past his shoulders and purposely unkept. He has no tattoos, he isn't far overweight or underweight, is about six foot-three. Just your average joe down to the exercise routines he holds to maintain physical shape and combat practice, albeit a touch taller than most. Perhaps the one thing that truly stands out from his appearance is the fact that his skin is as white as his hair. D'gerik is an albino, although born only with a lack of pigment and surprisingly isn't affected by the typical ailments that most albino's suffer (Thanks to the magic of medical technology). His eyes, therefore, are a deep blood red as well. He tends to dress in white to attempt to match his appearance in this sense.
★ PERSONALITY
★ HISTORY
Thirteen years ago, a young, albino child lived in a village outside of the cities. The medical capabilities of the time were not able to return skin pigments to his body, but he suffered no ill effects from the physical disability. He was happy. His family loved him, he had friends, an early education. Life had treated him well until that fateless day... He remembered screaming, crying, panic throughout the village. He couldn't find his friends anywhere or their families. He ran home, only to find a hulking creature. It held his mother, but she wasn't fighting. She wasn't even moving... His gaze turned to find his bloodied father begging him "D'gerik... Please... run..!" And run he did. He ran as far as his legs could possibly carry him before finally giving out, leaving him to cry on the forest floor, all
alone...
Years of the boy's life passed. No one adopted him, they were too nervous about his appearance, so he had to survive on his own. His fear of the creatures that destroyed everything he knew would haunt him for the rest of his days. Sometimes people helped him, but it was just out of a pitiful kindness of people who felt obligated to do what they could. That's not to say he wasn't grateful. Despite everything that happened, D'gerik knew that he couldn't get away with hating Humans, Cyborgs, or Faunus as they were the ones that still showed him compassion when all else desired his demise. At one village, around the time he turned fifteen, he was taught to fight, given a Katana and shown how to efficiently use it by a long since retired hunter. He learned to unlock his semblance and utilize his aura efficiently. He was still weak, but he knew he stood more of a chance now. Still... he knew it wasn't enough. Having spent years searching for a purpose in life other than running afraid and hoping to survive another day. This hunter, the man who taught him to fight, he was what gave D'gerik hope the most.
And so it was decided by the boy; "I will become a hunter, like my mentor before me". He set off for the nearest city, a new outlook on life now, one where he knew he wouldn't have to be afraid anymore even if he had to live in the streets whilst he studied. Just a few weeks later, he reached the Kingdom of Rift. Once there he began his search for any combat academy willing to take a student that had nothing to his name but a blade and his clothes. This finally came in the form of a small academy led by a still young but powerful lass named Aoi Hiragawa. Under her tutelage he learned then to control his semblance, an ability he took to calling "Chronal Shatter". Even after graduating on the just shy of his eighteenth birthday, he still wanted to learn more. His sights were then set on the apparently famous Vital Academy. He studied and practiced every single day until the day came that he would apply to the academy and later be accepted.
Such a short life this boy had led, yet it had gone so far so fast... He was determined now; a promise in his heart that he would prevent the suffering of anyone he possibly could by any means. He had found a new, positive outlook on life, and he wanted everyone to feel the same way...
Happy.

★ PERSONALITY
POSITIVE - Merciful - D'gerik spent most of his younger years suffering, living alone and in the wild. He's long since come to the point where he detests the mere thought of the word suffering. This has led D'gerik to the point where he is willing to do absolutely anything to end the suffering of an individual, no matter how controversial or sinister the method may be. - Peppy - D'gerik is a lad with a lot of positive energy, and never does it seem to be lacking, regardless of the situation. Even in situations that should otherwise be dark or hope seem bleak, D'gerik will never show negative emotion in his face or speech. - Kind sounding - He is a boy that doesn't know anything but kindness towards people. After all, it was the kindness of strangers that saved him time and time again when he was younger, and even that taught him how to fight against the Grimm so that he could more easily survive on his own. - Properly mannered - One of the many families that helped him when he was younger taught him the importance of manners. After all, a well mannered child was more likely to get what he wanted or needed than one that behaved like a neanderthal. This his now become reflected upon his current personality. He speaks like a proper gentleman, is chivalrous to all, regardless of their species or traits, and even his insults are well worded and mannered to the point that a poor linguist would probably not even realize when they are being insulted until at least a minute later. - Childish - Tell me, what else is expected of a person who lost everything at a young age and is only now at seventeen years of age getting a chance to live his life properly? Although he is childish, D'gerik is still cautious. He learned to survive and learned all about the darkness that resides in our world, but he still wants to live. | NEGATIVE - Sociopathic Tendencies - D'gerik, rather tragically, learned at a very young age that forming attachments to anything in any way leads only to sadness and ruin. This has led him to never hold on to anyone for any reason. His friends are just people that don't dislike him, his enemies are people that do dislike him. Death does not stir his emotions, and it will take a LOT of time and effort to get him to form any sort of emotional attachment. - PTSD against the Grimm - D'gerik lost everything to the Grimm. He hates them with every fiber of his being. This has gone so far that he tends to lash out in anger against anything that even remotely looks related to the Grimm. This has gotten him in a lot of trouble in the past, and can surely get him in trouble again. - Never holds back - D'gerik grew up knowing only fear in his need to survive. When he was taught how to fight, he was taught to never hold back against anything, as the Grimm were not the only things out there willing to take a human life. Unfortunately, D'gerik has not been taught otherwise yet which means that even in sparring matches - which he has never formerly participated in - he just doesn't know how to hold back. This can lead to serious injury at times with people who don't know this. - Skewed view of Justice - Picture a man who loses everything he ever knew when he was just a mere lad. Watching his family be murdered by the Grimm before his very eyes. Everything he ever cared about was taken from him and replacing it was a pure hatred for those who have wronged him. As D'gerik grew up, he not only experienced such trauma, but also watched as others experienced similar trauma and felt the same rage when he realized he couldn't do anything about it. Now he CAN do something about it, and he tends to do so whenever he possibly can, regardless of just how legal it is or not. - Intimidating - Despite how kind his appearance and manners may be, being albino is not all it's cracked up to be. Many people find him genuinely creepy, what with the vampire pale skin and blood red eyes that just seem a bit too unnatural outside of a semblance. This can sometimes be a problem for D'gerik and he doesn't really realize it. Matching such an appearance with his even stranger personality can often times be too much for people. |

★ COMBAT NOTES
WEAPONS
D'gerik's mentor taught him the symbolic nature of naming his weapons, a practice that not many people took to. It seemed strange at first to him, be he soon caught on and has named every weapon he's ever used since. Upon joining the Combat academy under Aoi Hiragawa, he went through his right of passage of creating his own weapon. The weapon's name? Predator and Prey.
The weapon's features consist of two black tinted, Damascus titanium blades, full tang connected to strong Carbon-fiber hilts and joined by titanium chains. The design is meant for two fighting styles, the first being a throwing chain weapon, and the second as back-handed blades.
The scabbards contains firing mechanisms that functions when the blades are sheathed. The sheathes themselves loaded with fire element dust. A hidden trigger located on special gauntlets D'gerik wears at all times fire the weapons outwards and several yards of connecting chains backwards, allowing D'gerik to draw the weapons without having to unload the chains by hand.
When drawn the scabbards merely acts as a dust powered flame cannons, launching a ball of fire towards the intended target or backwards to launch himself in the direction he is facing. This can be triggered either by the same trigger on the gauntlets or by the triggers hidden on the hilts. The latter allows for a surprise attack during a blade lock. Due to being coated with flame dust whenever they are sheathed, Predator and Prey can ignite temporarily, granting elemental capabilities to the blade itself for a short time. The cartridge within the scabbards hold six dust rounds total and a secondary slot for inserting small dust canisters for coating the blade.
The aforementioned gauntlets also serve a purpose of their own, loaded with multiple dust canisters designed to launch elemental surges across the chains and into the blades (Although he typically uses Lighting, Fire or Ice). The gauntlets are protective in nature, allowing D'gerik to handle the weapons even when dust is surging through them.
MISC.
D'gerik tends to install and remove gadgets like grappling hooks and other such intricacies to the scabbards of the scythes, but this is not something he does commonly as he prefers not having to use anything besides his own natural reflexes and the force generated by the firing mechanism of scabbards. Other than this, D'gerik typically carries extra ammunition and dust. Although he typically uses fire element dust, he can just as easily carry and load any other form of dust into the secondary chamber, the blades still being able to ignite the dust with the coated element. However the main chamber requires fire element dust to function properly.
The aura of most individuals is typically described as unique in their own ways. D'gerik, according to some, is unique in a very different way. D'gerik's aura, like his personality, is a duality; hiding emotions behind a masquerade of serenity. The first half of this duality is one of eerie calm, or dense panic, depending entirely on what D'gerik is feeling. It's almost always calm, even in battle. To some it makes them feel secure and often confident in their abilities, especially when fighting alongside him. To others, however, it can be terrifying. No matter what they do to try and defeat D'gerik, he's always calm and smiling. "It's just unnatural" Some might even say.
His other half is the most difficult to trigger. Only when D'gerik is in a state of panic or intense emotional distress. As a young boy under his mentor, D'gerik had to learn to control this half of his aura, as the effects were negative even to himself. This manic aura often gives off a feeling not unlike that of metal screeching upon metal. It brings instability to those around him and even more so to himself. D'gerik tends to act irrationally, sometimes even attacking if provoked by something as simple as a conversation attempt.
As is expected of such a duality, his aura tends to change colors when visible depending on his state from white to blood red respectively. The latter of these two also tends to bend and warp like smoke around him, as if the aura was leaking from him. Neither aura gives off any particular scent and, given the nature of D'gerik's fighting style (Where throwing one scythe leaves slightly open to attack), D'gerik's aura is mainly defensive - requiring five (5) points whenever he fails to block an attack if he wishes to negate damage.
CHRONAL SPLIT
D'gerik's semblance reflects the defensive nature of his aura combined with his experiences in life. He spent almost the entirety of it being forced to make split second decisions just to survive. It was during the extensive training with his mentor that he learned of his ability and how to control it (Even if he still cannot use it to the highest capacity). D'gerik learned that his semblance can allow him a moment in time to reflect and change his action accordingly. He essentially becomes split from time for the duration, granting him the ability to change the angle of his strike by a small amount to block an incoming strike he didn't see coming or, ideally, to strike past his opponent's defensive stance.
D'gerik uses five to fifteen (5 - 15) aura points whenever he uses the ability, dependent on the severity of the shift in time. A slight angle change to block a strike would be an example of five (5), stopping his momentum to dodge and strike from a different angle would be an example of fifteen (15). An opponent viewing D'gerik perform this, usually regardless of the severity will see this shift as one of two things. To the untrained eye, it will just appear that D'gerik has incredibly fast reflexes. To a trained master, however, it becomes clear that this action is instant - typically in a way that should theoretically defy the laws of physics to an extreme even. It should go without saying that prolonged use of the ability is taxing on D'gerik, especially since he's still not a master of it.
