Charcon, Noir |
★ APPEARANCE
Noir is a monster of a man, standing at a staggering 6'10", his limbs long yet sturdy. He has a very deceptive build to him, as his tall frame masks how muscular he is. As one who dedicated his life to building himself up to be stronger, more durable, more powerful than anyone else, it's no surprise he ended up with such a heafty figure. While one would probably expect a heavily tanned body to go along with the impressive figure, Noir instead has a ghastly white tone to his skin. Due to his semblance, his skin is permanently white from scars caused by severe burns. His long black hair stretches all the way down to the ground in a rather straight line, and his eyes that are red like blood always seem to have an angered or condesending gleam to them. These features turn what would usually be a fine looking man into a haunting monster, but the truly monsterous traits are all around his mouth. Due to a particular fondness of how faunus have animal traits, he got his teeth sharpened into fangs, and he cut part way down the center of his tounge to make it forked like a snake's.
As for an outfit, Noir surprisingly doesn't make himself too flashy, though that isn't to say it isn't unique. He wears a plain black leather jacket that he wears open, exposing his chest and abs completely. He wears a matching pair of pants and combat boots, all of these items being flame retardant. The boots themselves buckle at the front and reach halfway up to his knees and are outfitted with a number of small tricks for combat purposes.
★ PERSONALITY
★ HISTORY
Noir grew up in a small lumber village in Setek, a peaceful place for the most part and rather isolated due to all the trees that surrounded it. From a young age, Noir didn't have many friends, but he certainly had enemies. His abrasive nature was hardly something he had acquired, it was almost as if he was just born that way. It confused many of the adults in the village as his parents were very loving and supportive, so what drove him to act the way he did was a mystery to them all. Regardless, he would often get into fights with other children in the village, these fights often ending with Noir's opponent crying as they ran back home. His parents had hoped that this would just be a phase, but as the years passed it became apparent that it wasn't the case.
When he was ten, his parents snapped. He was sent back home after beating up one of the other kids, and for the first time in his life, his parents were absolutely livid with him. They had always been disappointed in his actions, but this time he was actually struck, smacked across the face by his mother. Enraged, Noir threw a punch back, and at that moment something sparked withing him. Suddenly, a column of flame burst up around him, measuring ten feet in diameter. Noir collapsed in pain at the flames which burnt his skin, and as the column continued to burn the house caught fire. Soon, it began to spread far enough to jump to the neighboring houses and before long the entire village was burning to the ground. The surrounding trees lit up as well, causing the blaze to grow bigger and bigger as it expanded outwards. After a few hours emergency crews came to put out the fire, eventually stumbling across an unconscious and barely alive Noir. His skin was severely burned, so he was quickly rushed off to emergency care. He was one of the seven to survive the incident, everyone else including his parents were either burned to death or crushed by collapsing buildings.
When Noir found out about this, he was a bit surprised to see that he didn't really react to the news. He had thought that something like that was supposed to be saddening, but in all honesty, he was glad to see that his parents and everyone else in that village who had despised him had got what they deserved. From then on, he decided that he would learn more about the power which allowed him to get rid of the people who hated him and he hated in return and that he would become strong enough to use it more effectively. So, he decided to enroll in Vytal.
During his time in the preliminary years he would spend all his time either training or attending classes. It was there that he designed his weapon, one that was found to be concerning by the teachers, and it was there that he would often find himself experimenting with his semblance. Naturally, that constant use of his semblance led to many trips to the emergency room, but by the time he was ready to become a freshman, he had built up a tolerance to lower levels of heat. During his years leading up to his senior year, his training became more intense, and people began to believe he was insane. Every day he would basically destroy his body, the only breaks he would take would be for food, classes, and sleep, and even then he often would skip classes he deemed useless. He also learned a great deal about the range of his semblance, what it was capable of and how it worked.

★ PERSONALITY
POSITIVE - Ambitious Noir is a high achiever, setting goals for himself to accomplish that can at times be a bit crazy. Despite how intense those goals might be, he still works towards them with his full effort. - Strong-willed Noir is rarely ever one to be dissuaded, he had his beliefs and he sticks strongly to them. He will almost never back down from another person about anything, even if that other person is one of his superiors. - Quick-thinker With all the time that he spends training, Noir has a fast mind on the battlefield. Sharp and reflexive, he can judge an attack with relative ease and slightly react to sudden switch-ups that some would be at a complete loss for. - Alert Allways aware of his surroundings, Noir makes it a point to know what is going on around him. It is more of an instinct that tells him a fight could pop up at any time than anything else, but that is enough for him to make sure that he never misses the first strike. - Hard Working When Noir sets his mind to a task, he gets that task done. This can often manifest in extreme ways, such as his constant training, or in his often reckless pursuit of victory in battle. While his methods of achieving these things can appear crazy, there is no doubt that he works himself to the extreme to get things done. | NEGATIVE - Arrogant Noir is extremely condescending and has a rather intense ego. He believes himself to be better than everyone around him and has such an overwhelming pride that he is willing to go to extremes to prove that he is the best. He expects nothing sort of victory whenever he goes into a match even when he's out of his league, and won't accept any sort of defeat. - Misogynistic While it can be said that he despises people in general, he has a specific and intense hatred of women. It's not exactly certain why he developed this, though chances were it was from when his mother slapped him when he was younger. So, he often tends to be more violent towards women and even more crude towards them than with most people. - Aggressive Easily agitated, it certainly doesn't take much to get on Noir's bad side, and when you get on that bad side you can expect a great deal of violence. Quick to attack, Noir is not afraid to strike someone without much provocation. - Crude Not one to censor his thoughts, many of Noir's negative thoughts and opinions about people are put on blatant display if someone were to talk to him. He will verbally bash someone without a second thought, and he tends to do so with a more colorful choice of words than most. It is also not above him to make snide remarks about a person that hit a bit closer to home, so if he finds a vulnerability you can guarantee that he will take advantage of it. - Sadistic Noir absolutely loves to see other people suffering, whether it be physically or mentally. The feeling for him is similar to a kid burning ants with a magnifying glass, the overall thought being: "they're puny little things that I'm much better than, so it's fun to watch them squirm simply because I can make them". |

★ COMBAT NOTES
WEAPONS
"Hell's Reapers", this is the name Noir has given to his twin swords. These weapons tend to stray from conventional swords, as they have no real blade to them and they have a unique shape to them. Instead of being a flat sheet of metal, the "blade" part is a rectangular prism that extends two feet from the hilt before being capped by a small spike at the end. Running along each of the four sides of the "blade" is a row of spikes connected to a metal belt to effectively create a miniature chainsaw on each side of the "blade".
The sword can also morph into a rifle, the spiked belts being used as the barrel and propulsion device for the bullets. Each of the bullets are specially designed to have grooves in them for the spikes of the belt to be able to catch on to make firing them more effective, and it can be loaded with clips that hold ten bullets each.
MISC.
Noir typically carries ten clips of bullets for each of his weapons with him, meaning he carries twenty clips total. He only uses kinetic bullets as they can shoot much faster than normal bullets, something he highly values in a shot as it makes them more powerful, harder to dodge, and increases their range all in one fell swoop. As alluded to in his appearance, his boots are his main spot for tricks. The toes of the boots have blades that pop out of them, allowing for more damaging kicks. Similarly, the bottoms of his boots have small retractable spikes on them that allow for both additional grip as well as a painful strike. On top of that, he often coats the blades and spikes with a light toxin that causes stiffness in muscles around the affected area.
Dread, that horrid feeling that grasps onto you, dragging your mind into a deep abyss full of terror and anguish. The bleakness is what one would feel when Noir's aura is unleashed. Along with the unpleasant feeling comes the feeling of suffocation, as if all the air in the area had been sucked out leaving you gasping in nothing. The wretched smell of freshly burned flesh permeates the air and the bitter taste of ash fills one's sense of taste. The color of his aura is a pure black, and as he moves it looks as if ash floats behind him. At Vytal he has learned to use the offensive, defensive, and mending traits of his aura.
Costs
Offensive: 4 AP
Defensive: 4 AP
Mending: 6 AP
Hellscape
A deadly column of flame that burns all who enter it, even its wielder. While it might sound insane to use, it captures just how far Noir is willing to go to claim victory. One key point about it is the different ranges and intensities it can burn at. Noir can control the radius of the column as well as the intensity of the flames, though a larger column and a higher intensity require more power. While this semblance can be very destructive due to this, there is one severe downside to it all: Noir is not immune to the flames. This means that it will burn Noir just as much as it would burn any other person, meaning he puts his own life at risk when he uses it. As well, Noir must always be at the center of the column at all times, so if he moves the column moves with him. This way, he is unable to escape the flames unless he turns them off.
Costs (For activation)
1 AP for every five feet of radius
X1 AP for red flames (Low intensity)
X2 AP for orange flames (Medium intensity)
X3 AP for yellow flames (High intensity)
X4 AP for blue flames (Very high intensity)
X5 AP for white flames (Extreme intensity)
He can shrink the column and/or decrease the intensity without any cost to his AP, but enlargening the column and/or increasing the intensity will make him pay the required additional AP to do so.
