PLAYED BY RaiKask Twenty-Seven (27) September (09) | Male Criminal Faunus (Frill-neck Lizard) | |
Esten, Gresian |
★ APPEARANCE
Gresian has a daunting figure, standing at five feet and ten inches with slightly tanned skin and with a more muscular build. His eyes are a deep muddy brown, his hair a medium length and a rich black. Along both his arms are solid black tattoos of thorned vines that coil around and connect to red tattoos of withering roses on his hands. His neck contains a scaled frill that he can pop out at will, though he often covers it in a thin bandage so the frill isn't readily visible.
He often dresses in a medium gray shirt with a long black cloak draped over it as well as a pair of pristine white pants. The cloak also has small bits of onyx lining the trim of it, the ones at the bottom sharpened as impromptu weapons if need be. As well, he wears heavy combat boots that are steel toed, the soles thick enough to conceal thin daggers.
★ PERSONALITY
★ HISTORY
Gresian spent most of his childhood in a positive and supportive family and community. Like most kids in his city, he had great aspirations of becoming a Hunter when he was old enough. He tried a lot of different weapons as he grew, never quite liking any of the ones he tried. Eventually, he was called in by a local weapons designer to try out a new weapon they had built, and immediately Gresian fell in love with it.
When he was finally thirteen, he set off to become a hunter, excited to be able to make a positive impact on the world around him and help those who were in need of assistance. His years in the academy helped strengthen the skills he had trained up, providing him with a great deal of experience to help him towards his goal. Upon graduating, however, that hopeful view changed. No longer taken care of by school or family, he had to make his life his own. Despite the amount of work available to him, none of it seemed quite enough to make ends meet.
Growing desperate, he took on a morally gray job and found there was a lot higher pay for something like that. He started taking on more jobs like it, and eventually crossed the line into criminal acts. It started with nothing big, just collecting a payment for a street thug, delivering some goods to another, but slowly it spiraled into more and more dangerous and darker things. The part of him that was opposed to such acts was gradually worn away by the exposure to the corruption, and with it left his faith in humanity. He began looking at the world through a dark and critical eye, surrounded by those he resented so much and coming to believe that everyone was the same as those evil fools if you peeled enough layers away.
Jaded, he began going on personal vendettas, picking up information through his work and targeting those he felt were truly horrid people. He was aware of the kind of person he had become as well but saw it as perfectly necessary to make the world better, even at the cost of his own comfort. Or at least, that was what he told himself, but truth be told he rather enjoyed playing the bad guy.

★ PERSONALITY
POSITIVE - Strategic He plans things out very thoroughly, often having backup plans and tricks to keep himself afloat. - Analytical He is able to come to grips with a situation quickly and pick up on clear patterns without much struggle. - Resourceful He can often make use of his surroundings to his advantage, or use the information he's gathered to get inside someone's head. - Alert Since he is always looking, he often has a good idea of what's happening around him. - Intelligent He was the kind of person who paid attention in class and did his best to learn about the world around him. However, his teachers never really saw that spark of knowledge from him. | NEGATIVE - Prideful to a fault While he does have a fair amount of skill in what he does, he tends to overplay himself and won't back down from a fight regardless of whether or not he is losing. - Unempathetic He seldom pays attention to the way others around him feel, the only real exception being seeing them fear him. However, it is to be noted that he never tries to stop that fear, just grow it. - Impulsive Despite the planning, he can put into things, it can often be thrown out the window entirely just because he wants to change something up out of the blue. - Slothful He hardly ever puts effort into something that he deems boring or unnecessary. When he was a student this often lead to him putting the minimum effort into passing the courses despite his understanding of the content. - Unstable He isn't always in his right mind which often leads to some more serious situations. While he isn't a very nice person when he is in his right mind, he certainly is worse when he's out of it. |

★ COMBAT NOTES
WEAPONS
Gresian uses a weapon called Crimson Fang, a sword designed for him by a smith from his home city. It was slightly altered when he was older to fit his more experienced self and his more polished fighting style. The crimson blade is about three feet long, the handle only big enough to fit his hand with a little wiggle room. Jutting out from the hilt is a set of six crimson, fang-like spikes pointed in the same direction as the blade, each about two inches in length. The fangs are perfect for trapping an opponent's blade if they use one and since they are so near the hilt they give him a good deal of leverage. The real trick, though, is that the tips of the spikes can open up for either one of two effects triggered by pressing corresponding buttons on the hilt's underside. The first causes flames fueled by dust to shoot out as far as the sword reaches, encasing the blade in flame. The second causes bullets to fire from the spikes, shooting out in volleys of six. He doesn't tend to shoot so often as the sword can only hold five rounds of bullets. Crimson Fang uses Glass Dust bullets, causing the shots to have a shrapnel effect.
MISC.
Gresian carries many additional arms with him, all of them boiling down to cheap tricks. As suggested in appearance, he hides two daggers on him, one in the sole of each boot. Another previously mentioned addition is the trim of his cloak which holds sharpened onyx crystals. He also carries additional dust vials (five sets of five) and bullets (five sets of five rounds) for his weapon in a pouch. Along with these, he carries a small pouch of dust-infused pieces of fabric that he can pull and use with a little aura. Most of these fabric squares are infused with fire dust, though there are some gravity ones as well to mess with his opponents attacks. To top it all off, he also tends to line the inside of his cloak with a layer of earth dust which allows for a little more blocking power.
Gresian's Aura has a distinctly deep crimson colour. It has a faint scent of stale blood to it and carries a strong atmosphere of disdain and malice to it. As a trained hunter, he has the capability to use the offensive, defensive, mending, and illuminating abilities of aura. He never bothered to deal with unlocking the aura of others as he never found it to be necessary. As he has been a hunter for a while, he has been using his Aura a decent amount and would spend 5 AP on each use of these abilities.
Creeping Dread
A sly trick for certain, his semblance causes a faint but gradual illusion to take place. It starts with small, distant whispers only audible to the target and a slight tint of red to everything they see. As the semblance continues to be used, the whispers turn to yells and screams and things grow more and more red. The whispers and screams will often target fears the individual has, and if not will just start as spiteful messages before turning into full screams of agony. The red tint does not hinder the affected person's ability to determine shapes, depth, or anything like that, it just saps all other colours and replaces them with shades of red. At the beginning, the Aura only has a minimal drain, but exponentially uses more aura as it grows in strength. The semblance takes 10 AP to use in the first minute, 20 AP to use in the second, 30 AP to use in the third, and so forth.
