Hello all!
So I should probably introduce myself. I’m Kurosashiko, one of the new moderators that just got hired on alongside Minty, and the one that’s been lurkin’ around making changes to the site's theme as you have have all noticed. You’ve probably seen me in the cBox a couple of times if anything but if you haven’t it’s a pleasure to meet ya all the same!
Anyhow, introductions aside, I did make this thread to get your guys’ opinions on a matter that the staff has been discussing as of late. To get right to the point, due to some of the limitations we’ve run into on ProBoards, we have been discussing the idea of moving Remnants to a Jcink forum. If you’re not familiar with Jcink, it’s much like ProBoards with a couple of key exceptions which would allow us to provide a more realistic roleplay experience as well as some other key benefits we’re sure you’ll all enjoy. Among these is that Jcink relaxes their posted content rules with a paid forum, they allow true HTML in posts which will allow for better and more elaborate as well as streamlined post designs, and they are in general a more stable forum software due to their in-built forum modification system. Given that Jcink has also recently made some vast improvements to their theming options it would also allow us to build a customized theme for the roleplay that might better reflect Remnants and the world of RWBY.
Although, on the other hand ProBoards also has its benefits too such as its security measures and tried and true methods of conduct which make it popular for roleplays such as ours. Moreover, staying would mean ultimately that we didn’t have to move anything and that we’d continue on as usual without any sort’ve downtime. Therein lay why we would like our community’s opinions on the matter given that if we did do this there would be at least a day of downtime while we migrated everything over. However, at least in our personal opinions – Engram’s, Minty’s and my own – that small stint of downtime for the benefits we would gain from doing it are negligible. But we’ll leave it up for you all to weigh in on and go from there depending on what you’re popular vote is. Please keep in mind though if we do decide to migrate to Jcink all of your posts and information will be transferred over. All you will have to do is register on the Jcink forum to allow us to do that.
That said we’ll leave the rest up to you guys. Please be sure cast your votes between now and December 27th. We look forward to your input!
Best Regards,
The Staff
