It’s now time for the second round of the Vytal Tournament! As with the last round, there are but a few rules to consider moving forward: * Participants may only use the items specified in your sign ups. Anything else will result in instant forfeiture. Everyone had ample time to decide what they wanted to bring into the fight! * Students will NOT be required to track their AP. Remember the restrictions you set on yourself either during character creation or IC interactions - and hold to them justly. If using a Semblance is draining (aside from the implied exhaustive drain), then play it as such. If you have any questions or concerns going into this bit, feel free to chime a member of the staff - we can always ask that you track AP if you’d feel more comfortable that way. * You have 72 hours from time time of your opponent’s post to respond. If we wait too long, the tournament will begin to stagnate, which will only put us behind. * Round Three fights will not begin until AFTER Round Two has concluded. Some players have been automatically set in Round Two - but don’t worry. This is just how Challonge handles the numbers, so there’s nothing that can really be done about it. * The Champion of this year’s Vytal Tournament will have the opportunity to defend their title during the next festival. They’ll also receive a couple perks that’ll be disclosed upon completion. This thing is about fun first and foremost, competitiveness comes second! :v THIS MATCH IS Dusty Ghrian vs Mitha'lo AstersREADY, FIGHT!

Deep, melodic breathes would enter and leave the golden-eyed student as he sat in wait for his match to start. The room he waited in this time was different than the one he had been in before it. Instead of sitting in the dark janitorial closet, Mitha'lo was laying down the locker room adjacent to the arena. It's gray painted walls caused the red love seats to pop out with blue lockers standing up in ranks of four. His legs hung over the edge of his seat while his head rested down on the seat. His improvised bed offered much comfort to Mit; a weaker willed man would have started to doze off and fallen asleep. He however was focused on his breathing techniques. If his match was against someone like Max, he'd have to keep his lungs open and monitor his stamina. Ditto went for his clothes. He was forced to change into a new set of clothes. A pair of pants and boots that weren't covered in holes and burnt up.
Since his match with Max, Mitha'lo had recovered his strength and stamina thanks to proper medical assistance from the nurses on stand-by. The female's gave his side glances every few minutes. They had found him to be both attractive and menacing. A combination of traits liked by some woman. During that period Mitha'lo focused on himself instead of the nurses around him. The fighter would meditate and handle his weapon in preparation of his next fight. Once his new pair of clothes arrived Mitha'lo left the company of the medical professionals in favor of solitude.
Thankfully there were a few hours and rounds between matches. This allowed Mit to recover his aura and stock up on several rounds of missing ammo. This process of hand loading and preparing his ammunition had become a meditation-like ritual over the years. The way one had to load the Dust powder into the casings. The snapping shut of each round before locking them into the chamber. A million woman and treasures couldn't compete against the relaxation Mitha'lo felt during this process. Yet his time sitting away was cut short when the eleventh-hour had come.
"The next match will soon begin. Dusty Ghrian! Mitha'lo Asters! In the second round!" The announcement broke through Mitha'lo's zen. The man in question would release an irritated groan as he snapped his last bullet into place. Slowly he rose from his love-seat and equipped Rend and ammo case. The sound of his boots tapping against the laminated floor snapped the silence in half. His repaired Visor, which looked perfectly fine even after his last fight, hung around his neck. Being properly equipped, Mitha'lo went straight into the arena. A dark hall was nothing more than a few yards of mental preparation. As the roar of the crowd surged through his body, Mitha'lo started to raise his hood. It would cover move of his head, yet a few strands of bangs would escape into the stage lights. The arena was once again bright and filled with roaring crowds. "They really love fighting huh?" He asked himself before heading to the center of the arena.
Mitha'lo would raise his gun-sword Rend into the air to humor the audience. A quick draft would flap the back of his jacket. The word 'Purify' would wave in the air. It was a secret sign of his goal and wishes. To not just purify the world of humanities filth. But also understand his self turmoil and doubts. To be pure forever.

Dusty stretched his arms across his chest as he walked towards the locker he had stashed his gear into. He had managed to sneak in a little nap during the first round, giving him time to focus and prevent any distractions getting to him as well as make sure he was refreshed and ready. He aimed to win his fight against his opponent and he knew it would take everything he had. As he popped open the blue locker and removed his chest piece, the young archer ran through the details he had been told about his opponent. Mitha'lo Asters, junior at Vytal Academy. That would make it more difficult, being a little older, but arguably not more experienced. Dusty didn't know how much real world experience this guy had over him, but hopefully all he had going for him was the controlled training from the school. That might give Dusty an edge, if only slightly.
Dusty donned his breast plate and bracers, thumping his fist on his chest and creating a satisfying clang. He pulled on his bomber jacket, dusting off a small dust bunny at the hem. He pulled on his bandolier and quiver of arrows before sliding Ardu and Leagtha into their sheaths. He was tapping away at the digital screen on his right bracer when he heard the announcer announce the second round. Dusty walked out of the locker room, swinging his arms back and forth to loosen them up. He exited the locker room to the roar of the crowd, spotting his opponent standing opposite him and putting on his own little hype show for the crowd. Dusty simply waved to the spectators as he crossed the arena. The young archer approached Mitha'lo with a smile and one hand extended for a hand shake. "Let's have a good match, alright? Give the people a show to remember," he said. "May the best man win, yeah?"

Mitha'lo kept his face up for the sake of ensuring his cover as a student was kept up. Well it wasn't so much a cover as it was a secondary identity. However in his heart of hearts the dark-clothed man found it annoying that all these eyes were on him. He wanted this tournament to grant him some leeway with the Priests and higher members of the organization. The Cult would be pleased if one of their own proved he was stronger than Vytal's students. Yet there was one last desire that Mitha'lo held deep within himself. The development of his own power through this tournament. His progress had not yet reached a plateau, yet if he wished to please all those above him, he'd have to offer up prove of his worth.
Then Dusty emerged onto the arena floor. The younger man was looking equally ready and dashing in his own right. Unlike Max before him, Dusty was approved by Mitha'lo's visual appraisal. Quickly the blonde lowered Rend and rose his visor's to his forehead. Just before Dusty got to Mitha'lo, a strange thought crossed the man's mind. He would tilt his head and look at the boy's face with interest to inspect him. There had been something familiar about his visage and features that was nagging at Mitha'lo's mind. While taking Dusty's hand and shaking it, Mitha'lo gave a hollow, "Yeah. Back at you... Say," He continued now with more interest. "I've heard a little about you. You were in Setek a few months back right? And at the scene of the huge Grimm that attack the island?"

Dusty studied Mitha'lo as the older boy tilted his head and in turn, studied him. It made him slightly uneasy, mostly because he didn't really know this guy. He nodded slowly, crossing his arms over his chest. "Yeah, I was there. Got a nice blast a goop while I was at it," he answered. "Took forever to clean my it out of my jacket. Why? Looking to get my autograph?" Dusty grinned as he chuckled at his own joke. After a moment, he looked out of the corner of his eye at the roaring crowd around them and turned back toward the other end of the arena.
"We can chit chat after the match is over," Dusty said, looking over his shoulder. His bright blue eyes shined excitedly behind his glasses. "Best not to keep the crowd waiting any longer, yeah?" He walked towards the opposite end of the arena before turning on his heel and facing Mitha'lo again. He drew Ardu and Leagtha and snapped them together to form Daybreaker, thumping himself on the chest and creating a loud metal clang. "Age before beauty," Dusty said, gesturing to the older boy.

Oh yes. That was were Mitha'lo knew Dusty from. His description matched one of the students who went against his brethren while seeking out the Princess. The news had spread quickly enough on all fronts to meet even Mitha'lo's ears on Vytal. This realization granted a boon to an uproaring chuckle that resonated in the agent's throat. To Dusty's second question Mitha'lo would nod and play off the laugh as if he was going along with his joke. "Yes yes maybe." In truth the opportunity to test the mantle of Dusty was what made Mitha'lo laugh. It was a chance to see what kind of power took care of his brothers and sisters in Setek.
Mit would follow Dusty's lead and back away from his opponent. As he brought down his Visor and loaded a High-Impact clip into Rend Mitha'lo allowed a bright smile to crack across his lips. "This should be a test like no other." The blonde would say just before he spun on his back heel. For a moment he waited for Dusty to make a move. However when the younger student deferred to Mitha'lo the man's smile shrank to a more natural smirk. "Aye. Don't cry afterwards. If only all you freshmen were like this." Mitha'lo stood at the ready for a long and drawn out moment.
His visor was quickly analyzing Dusty's figure and registered his dimensions. After waiting there for roughly ten seconds, Mitha'lo raised Rend and fired the first shot. He'd first need to learn about Dusty's fighting style. His weapon was obvious to him. Yet the tricks and techniques he used needed to be seen. Max had been easy to figure out. But this new opponent was a different beast. After the first round was fired, Mitha'lo ran around the edge of the ring, firing off another shot four seconds into his sprint.

There was a nagging presence in Dusty'a mind as he prepared himself for the fight. Something about Mitha'lo's laugh didn't sit well with him. He could simply attribute it to his joke about getting an autograph, but it had started before that. Maybe the older boy was mocking him, as if the laugh was saying, "This is what they sent against that giant creature? It's a wonder we won, at all"? The archer couldn't tell. He wasn't that good at reading people, so he had to hope that's what it was. Mostly so he could get the satisfaction of wiping Mitha'lo's smug smile clean from his face and prove him wrong. Keep it together, Dusty, he thought, shaking his head. Stay focused and win. Don't let him into your head.
"Freshman!? You insult me so," Dusty replied with a cheeky grin. He drew an Ice arrow from his quiver and notched it, pulling back on the bow string a little bit. "I'd like to believe it's more than just dumb luck for me and I've actually gained some skill from here." He watched Mitha'lo carefully, the seconds feeling like hours. Why wasn't he making a move? What was going on behind that visor of his? Dusty bit back a curse. The visor was another problem. It made Mitha'lo's face unreadable. Not too bad for watching his movements, but watching his emotions would be harder. He wasn't given much more time to think when Mitha'lo fired his first shot. The archer took off, running directly opposite of Mitha'lo. He raised Daybreaker, pulling back on the string, and fired his Ice arrow directly in front of the older boy. An icy patch quickly spread in the gunman's path, hopefully tripping him up but not before his second shot. Dusty twisted as he ran, trying to bend his body around the bullet as it grazed across his chest and he drew another arrow, an Earth one this time. He fired it at the ground near the older boy, shifting a large amount of the arena in the hopes that it would launch Mitha'lo skyward and right towards Dusty.

Crou! Ping Crou! The sounds of Mitha'lo's bullets echoed in the arena as the first was embedded into the outer edge. The second was leave a mark on Dusty's chest piece as it ricocheted into the wall behind him. Both rounds burrowing holes into the ring surrounding the combat zone. Mitha'lo kept his vision on Dusty as the two circled the battlefield like animals waiting for the kill. All form of joking and smiles vanished from Mitha'lo when the fight began. This one was much more keen than Max was. A whole different beast to figure out and understand. At the current time it was unknown if Dusty was proficient in just bows and arrows, or if his weapon took on a new form that was far more potent.
At the moment that Mitha'lo bullet grazed Dusty, the arrow had already found purchase into the ground. Mitha'lo adverted his gaze to shift his attention to the frozen patch in front of him. He'd take a moment to realize the threat. At his current pace and running form he'd likely fall and given the advantage to Dusty. However if he could vault over the ice there was a chance he could keep up the momentum. That was the choice Mitha'lo would make. For a brief second he seemed to crouch his from down to the ground before pushing off the balls of his feet and pouncing into the air.
While in the air Mitha'lo tightened his form; almost turning himself into a ball. Yet he kept his head and Rend pointed towards Dusty. In time it took for him to reach the apex of his jump and proceed to fall back down, Mitha'lo would fire off 2 more High-Impact Rounds. One aimed for a foot in front of Dusty, one trained on the current position. As Mitha'lo's feet touched the ground he'd fire a third shot. This wound was aimed at Dusty's head. Yet he found the boy already launched another arrow at his feet. This attack transformed the ground in a more direct manner than the last arrow. With the ground shifting Mitha'lo fired the bullet upwards and completely missed the boy. At happened next even took Mitha'lo by surprise. The ground warped and threw his body skyward.
The disturbance to his balance caused Mitha'lo to tighten his muscles and flail his arms for a moment as the arc sent him towards Dusty. Mitha'lo would activate his Aura Defense in an attempt to halt any sort of incoming projectiles. ---- *Speed Reloaders X 6 (10 Bullets Each) - 2 Fire Dust Clips - 1 Ice Dust Clip - 1 Wind Dust Clip - 1 Kinetic Dust Clip - 5 High Impact Rounds * 2 Crystal Balls

Dusty saw the bullets flying towards him, gritting his teeth in frustration. No time to dodge all of them. His best option was to take the one in front of him head on instead of taking the other two. The young man twisted his body as he slowed to a halt, letting his chest piece take the brunt of the force of the bullet shot ahead of his path. Despite the steel plating, the bullet hurt like a bitch as it richocheted off of the metal breastplate. His new turned stance at least gave him full view of the older boy's flight upward. The archer grinned as his eyes shifted to a jet black color and a massive shadow hand shot out of his own shadow on the ground, aiming to grab and slam the older boy onto the ground. He punched a few buttons on his gauntlet as a second giant hand pushed the boy skyward while he separated Daybreaker into Ardu and Leagtha. As he passed by Mitha'lo, he aimed a few slashes at the older boy with his twin knives before shooting by and snapping the blades back together. Dusty twisted in the air and drew three arrows, all capped with Fire Dust, notched them onto the bow string, and firing downward at Mitha'lo hoping to create a massive explosion to deal some real damage to him.

Mitha'lo struggled to maintain his rotation while flying in the air. He attempted to keep his body in a tight formation to avoid going out of control. Rend was placed up front in a guarding position to defend Mitha'lo from in coming attack. The boy's hoodie waved and flailed in the air like a whirl of purple until they were both stopped. For a moment Mitha'lo looked downward to see nothing but a blot of darkness rushing towards him. It was curious in nature. This sort of power was new and unique in the eyes of Mitha'lo. There was no time time question or uncover the source of the shadow palm before it smacked him downward. The blonde yelled as both the unannounced hit, and the slash-attacks Dusty quickly dealt caused Mitha'lo pain. The visor over his face would recognize Dusty's figure as Mitha'lo hit the ground with a cruel impact. As the his aura crawled around his form, Mitha'lo bore his teeth as the shape of three arrows came into view. "Holy shit." He muttered to himself. The most he could do was throw himself out the way with a hardy grunt. The explosion that followed rushed to kiss the tail of Mitha'lo jacket. The singed rim of fabric darkened but the man was untouched by the powerful dome of fire. Skidding across the arena floor, Mitha'lo took in deep breaths in an attempt to steady his heart rate. With Dusty hanging in the air Mitha'lo took aim with Rend. Following the boy's trajectory, he fired off the last 5 of his High Impact rounds. "Good show mate! You are a talented little beast." Mitha'lo would shout out as he reached into his ammo pouch and drew out his Wind Dust Rounds. With a swift hand Mitha'lo loaded the clip into Rend before unleashing a shot towards Dusty. When the tigger was pulled the air between the two students warped as the bullet attracted the wind and caused a bellow of wind to cut towards Dusty. It was at this point that Mitha'lo began running around the arena once more; buying some time to think. ---- *Speed Reloaders X 6 (10 Bullets Each) - 2 Fire Dust Clips - 1 Ice Dust Clip - 9 Wind Dust Bullets - 1 Kinetic Dust Clip * 2 Crystal Balls Dusty Ghrian
