Jeremy was sitting in relative silence, the gentle rocking and vibrations from the train could almost lull him into a gentle sleep, especially in the dim light of the train car. He was a little too anxious to let his eyelids droop however, as this train ride was taking him to something he had been dreading since he became a freshman. He was on the train ride to meet with his new 'partner' with whom he would be spending the rest of his scholastic career with. Under normal circumstances, this was a test that happened at the very onset of the freshman year, but apparently there had been either a lot of new students, or just a number of staffing or scheduling issues. Because of this, Jeremy, as well as dozens of other students had to be 'pushed' out to this late in the term. It didn't hurt Jeremy's feelings having to wait, he heard the murmurs and complaints from his class about how long it was taking, but he could have been happy to remain solitary. He tried to enjoy the last precious moments that he would be spending alone, nobody else in the dim train car.
He sat in silence, ready for battle which meant his scars were out for plain view so his tattoos could be freely activated without destroying his clothes. The colourful patterns of dust tattoos covered the worst of his scars, but it would ten times more ink to cover everything. He otherwise just wore his dark jeans and pistols, no shoes to speak of either, more for the comfort than anything. He let out a shaky sigh as the red light above his head shifted from the soft glow to a bright and vibrant green, signalling that it was time to disembark from the train. Jeremy got up from his seat and moved over to the door of the train car, pulling the door open with a grunt of effort as the formerly silent car became uncomfortably loud with the sound of rushing wind. Jeremy could see Vytal academy off in the distance, and growing smaller as the seconds passed by while the train sped on over the vast forest the sprawled out nearly fifty meters below him under the bridge that carried the train along. He looked off into the distance at the mountains, probably a good ten or fifteen kilometres from the train, and the ultimate finish line for this challenge. He thought back to the briefing the received before heading out.
The train will take you to the forest surrounding the academy, and from the train, you'll have to make it to the mountains that our ancestors used as shelter from the Grimm for centuries. The caves are a natural labyrinth, and since we have moved out... the creatures of Grimm moved in. The teacher said, a large map displayed above him pointing out where the school, forest, train and mountains were in relation to each other. This challenge is two fold, find the partner with whom you will be paired with for the rest of the time you are here at Vytal, and in most instances, the rest of your lives, as well as help clear some monsters from our old ancestral homes. Good luck, watch the first step when getting off the train.
Jeremy wasn't particularly perturbed by the fact that he was going to be jumping from a perfectly good train, nor was he really bothered that it was moving fast enough to out-race a bullet from his pistols. He dreaded most the idea of finding somebody out in that forest, and having to trust them. With a grumble, he took a step back before jumping as hard as he could from the train. He felt the wind take him immediately, but just tried to keep his calm and activate his gravity tattoo, enveloping his body to make it lighter. He almost seemed to glide from the train out over the forest as the wind carried him towards the mountain, covering almost a quarter of the distance before he hit the canopy and disengaged his tattoo, coming to rest more or less gently in the branches of a tree. He pulled out his Estoques, made sure they were ready for combat, and made his way to the ground, moving as quickly and quietly as possible towards the mountain.
