Stalwart, it had been quite a long time since Max had traveled back to the Coastal City of Rift. The city held quite a large place in Max's heart because this was his home. The Chromium family not only lived in the Coastal City but this was where they made their living owning and opperating "Chromium Weapon crafting". The reason Max decided to go home was because it was almost time for the Vihtal tournament to start and he needed to get his twin pistols expertly worked on by the two people who made them. He needed to see his parents Charles "Chuck" Chromium and Alicia "Alice" Chromium. Max, not wanting to go alone however decided to ask his female friend and fellow freshman Amara to join him on his trip because he thought she would love the new scenery and the chance to look at an actual forge. Max for once was not in his usual suit for his visit. He was wearing a pair of jeans, a reddish t-shirt and a black unbuttoned short sleeve over shirt with sneakers. He also had his ammo satchel draped over his right side and his skateboard holster strapped to his back. Max and Amara had been on the traveling air ship for about a little less then two days on their trip away from Vhital and to be honest, Max was getting quite bored but he was also quite nervous. He hadn't been home since his last school holiday so it had been awhile since he had seen his parents. Max was quite different from the parents who raised him. While he was well dressed, well mannered and tried to hold himself with sophistication, his parents were often clad in leather, covered in grease from work, had somewhat lacking manners and didn't seem to care what people thought of them. If Max was honest with himself he sometimes wished that he was a bit more like his parents. They seemed to have so much fun with their lives because they never stopped to think what people may think of them. They were truly care free and he loved them. It wasn't long until the airship began it's decent onto the city's air field. As they landed, Max walked over to Amara with a small smile. Max found it rather..difficult to look at Amara for too long because of the way she dressed but the truth was that he needed her here with him. The young hunter couldn't afford to bring Ushio with him because if word slipped that they were an item, his parents would end up gushing all over her and they would never get any work done. "Little warning before we see my parents, they are rather..odd ducks. They and I couldn't be more different from each other but I think you'll like them and hey maybe you'll find some weapons or something you like. If you like, before we go home we can do some sight seeing. I know all the best food places around."As the ships doors opened, Max grabbed his skateboard from it's holster and hopped on and skated out of the ship. "Their ship is on the outskirts of the city by the ocean so they have plenty of water or sand for glass. Follow me."Amara Reedman

Stalwart.Amara had never been to the city before, but from what she gathered reading the small pamphlets located on the back of the seat in front of her, the city was pretty close to being a fortress. She was leaning against the window, her right arm propped up on the arm rest, using her hand to support her head as she tiredly flipped through the few pages. Her eyelids were beginning to droop, evidence of her exhaustion from the trip. Stalwart, located against the coast, was beautiful from up above. Hopefully the city retained that beauty once they made their way behind its walls. Yawning, Amara’s eyes finally lifted from the pamphlet, letting the small paper drop down to the floor. Resting her head against the windowsill, Amara instead set her sights on the coastline. It was absolutely gorgeous.Stretching almost as far as the eye could see, Stalwart’s shores were almost as white as Rift’s Opal Palace. From so high up, she could feel the light reflecting off the sands almost burning her eyes. She wondered if, maybe, the feeling of the sand against her bare feet would produce the same sensation - burning. It wasn’t a bad thing to feel a little, in fact, as far as Amara was concerned it was necessary. People weren’t robots - hell, half the robots parading through Remnant weren’t run-of-the-mill machines - and to behave as such, for a person, was absolutely inexcusable. Clashing against the ivory shores was a vivid blue ocean, so astoundingly beautiful it put the most stunning of sapphires to shame. As she looked down upon it, her lips curled up into an almost deviant smile. She definitely had to take a dip while they were in the city. That is, assuming Max could handle himself around a girl in a swimsuit.Looking over to Max, Amara studied the boy’s appearance - which was much different than his usual attire. Generally speaking, Max sported something closer to the “formal” side of the spectrum, usually in the form of a black and white pinstriped suit. In fact, now that she thought about it a little more, Max sometimes dressed like a comic book villain. Who was that one from the detective comic? Something-Face? She couldn’t quite remember. Amara’s attire was completely in line with what she usually wore around. Black leather low-rise shorts, held up with a red belt, and a white blouse with a black corset. Above that, she wore a black blazer with yellow trim - pretty typical stuff if you were to ask her. Around her neck was a violet crystal - Kinetic Dust, to be precise. This she used if she was in a pinch and needed an extra little boost. The pair had been traveling from Vytal to Stalwart, and why Amara exactly volunteered was unclear - even to her. There was part of her that wanted to stretch her legs, to see new things, and that in and of itself was likely the only reason she volunteered to follow her new friend so far away. It had been a little over two days since they had left, and all that time spent in the ship was beginning to make Amara a little stir crazy. Oh, right, she was thinking about what her current partner of crime was wearing! The girl had a habit of trailing off in her thoughts, sometimes just a little too much. Her assessment of Max’s appearance was quick, and inconsequential for the most part. Jeans, a reddish t-shirt, a black shirt over that. He looked pretty plain, all things considered. He was wearing an ammo satchel, though - that was a little peculiar.”Weird.” She thought to herself, scoffing as she looked back out the window while the ship began its descent.Down below, the airship was surprisingly quiet. Prior to the Siege of Rift, Amara had been led to believe - per the pamphlet she had scrutinized to the greatest degree - that Stalwart was generally quite busy. There was one other airship Amara noticed, and upon it was plastered the insignia of Aldous Barnett. She didn’t care much for politics, and she had no intention of ever bothering to do so, but she knew that any man that would lay siege to a capital - to order the killing of so many people - couldn’t have been a very good man. The airfield below had one long runway that stretched parallel to the shore, with three large hangars and an office with a tower making up most - if not all - of the buildings. Their airship was currently lowering itself down onto one of five landing pads.Max and Amara turned to face one another at the same time. It was a little uncanny, and made Amara feel a little uncomfortable as her partner in crime flashed a cheerful smile. She hated it when he looked at her like that. It was hard to not punch the poor kid in the face, but she nonetheless forced herself into submission, responding in kind - with her own smile. Unlike his, her’s was noticeably crooked, and in fact it probably looked like she was in a little bit of pain. "Little warning before we see my parents, they are rather..odd ducks.” He warned, prompting her to roll her eyes - on the inside, of course. ”They and I couldn't be more different from each other but I think you'll like them and hey maybe you'll find some weapons or something you like. If you like, before we go home we can do some sight seeing. I know all the best food places around."So his parents were a little weird. Cool.As the airship finally settled down and opened its doors, Amara was quick to spring to her feet and follow Max out. The air was fresh, not quite cool but not quite warm, and smelled of the salty ocean. It was absolutely heavenly, and had they not been on some sort of schedule she’d likely petition Max to linger around a while. She absolutely had to take a dip in that water before they took off. Max, producing the skateboard he had kept holstered on his person, hopped on the board and began skating off. Amara casually strolled after him, making absolutely zero effort in catching up. "Their ship is on the outskirts of the city by the ocean so they have plenty of water or sand for glass. Follow me." The boy called back, to which Amara responded with a soft snort. He was kidding, right?“You know, Max, it’d be a lot easier to follow you if you weren’t on a skateboard.” She called after him, cupping her hands in the form of a sort of megaphone to help her voice carry. Puffing her chest out proudly, Amara removed her hands from her face, sticking her fingers in her pockets while her thumbs slipped into one of the belt loops that spanned the waistline of her shorts. She hoped they wouldn’t be there too long. She wanted to swim.

As Amara called to him, telling him that it would be easier for her to follow if he wasn't on his board. This caused Max to stop and hopped off his board, pick it up and put it back in it's holster. Once he did, he slowed down just long enough for Amara to catch up before he started walking again. As they pair walked toward the outskirts of the city, Max couldn't help but take in the view of the white sanded beach and the rather beautiful water. Seeing these sights again caused a small ache of guilt in the young hunters heart as well as a pained expression on his face. As a large wave crashed upon some big rocks, Max couldn't help but wince and look down at the ground for a moment before looking back at Amara. "When I was young, before I joined the acadamy I just couldn't wait to get away from this place. I wanted to go to the Academy so badly just so I could become a hunter and see the world. I would spend my days when not helping my parents watching documentaries or reading books about far off places like Minagery. I couldn't wait to get out of here but now that I'm almost an adult I've begun to miss this place and how..simple things are here."Once Max was done speaking, he began to walk once more down the road until a street sign told him that they were close to the shore front and the docks where a lot of Fisherman spent their time. It would only take about 20 minutes for the pair to come upon a rather large shop sitting on the edge of where the main land met the docks and the ocean. The building was split into two pieces, one being a large shop that looked to be about three stories tall while the building next do it seemed to be domed and made out of thick red bricks and contained what seemed to be four chimneys. Seeing these buildings Max just smiled. "We're here."Max took a deep breath and slowly walked into the shop building. As he opened the front door, a small chime went off to alert the shop keepers that they had guests. The entrance rooms walls were decorated with different sized weapon racks which held many different weapons like sniper rifles, Sub Machine guns or shotguns. This was only the first level of the shop, on the second floor was where the bladed weapons were kept like swords, knives and scythes, the third floor being for the more explosive weapons like Cannons. Once he looked around for a moment, Max walked up to the front desk and rang a small bell twice. It wouldn't take long before two individuals came rushing to the front. The first individual was a rather large, muscle clad man who was about 6.9 and had a long bushy black beard and bright emerald eyes. His skin and hands looked rough and worn from work and his face was covered in grease and soot. The other person was a young short woman who was about 5,2 with a dark black pixie cut. Both individuals were clad in leather pants, raggy shirts and leather vests. When they saw who came calling, They both cheered and the woman ran from behind the counter and hugged Max tightly. "Maxie sweetie! Welcome home!"The man just chuckled. "Welcome home son."Max blushed hard and wiggled out of his moms grasp and smooth out his clothes before looking back at Amara. "Amara, these are my parents Alice and Chuck Chromium."Amara Reedman

Frankly speaking, Amara wasn’t really expecting Max to leap off his board as a result of her friendly jab. Still, as the boy set the board up in its holster, a small smile formed over what was usually a deadpan expression. He even slowed down, going so far as to almost stop, just so she could catch up. An interesting development, given her incredibly bias view on men - particularly young ones. As Amara walked up to Max’s side, she looked over at him for a moment, revealing that smile as she continued off ahead. Max continued alongside her, the two of them walking at the exact same pace as they trudged through the sands of the beach. Amara took advantage of their location, digging her feet into the ivory granules to kick them into her shoes. It felt so pleasant, so much so that she almost melted where she stood.Noticing Max’s eyes settling on the coastline, Amara looked off in the opposite direction - towards the open field with rolling hills that ran parallel to the shore. The grass was emerald green, dotted with plants of a darker hue and small flowers of varying colors. It was the purple and blue ones that drew in her attention the most, the colors reminiscent - in some ways - of her own Aura. Eventually, her attention returned to the boy at her side, noticing a peculiar look - almost that of anguish - beginning to form on his face. She frowned a little, struggling internally between whether or not to try to console the young man or leave him be. It would take a wave crashing against a large rock, causing both of the students to flinch, to urge her to leave him to his own devices.Still, she felt bad for the kid, though she didn’t really know why."When I was young, before I joined the Academy I just couldn't wait to get away from this place. I wanted to go to the Academy so badly just so I could become a hunter and see the world.” The boy’s voice started, catching Amara’s attention far more than it had before. She wasn’t super into the whole back-story thing, especially if it started getting sappy. That said, she decided to give the boy the benefit of the doubt, remaining silent as he continued to speak. ”I would spend my days when not helping my parents watching documentaries or reading books about far off places like Menagerie. I couldn't wait to get out of here, but now that I'm almost an adult I've begun to miss this place and how..simple things are here."Amara literally had to bite down on her tongue to avoid groaning in response to Max, turning her attention back to the flowering field as they continued their walk towards town. She started to think about where she grew up, about her mom and dad, about…Nea. Just her name wiggling its way into her thoughts made Amara’s gut twist painfully, wincing as her eyes snapped shut tight in an effort to ward off the impending tears. She absolutely would not - could not - let herself cry in front of this kid. With a tired sigh, she instead opened her eyes and set them dead ahead - eyeballing a sign not far from their current location. It was nothing too spectacular, just a little thing sticking out of the earth and sand, indicating they were getting closer to the docks. Finally they were making some progress! That is, after their twenty minute jaunt through even more sand.Typical.As they neared where the fields ended and the outskirts of the city began, Amara took one more chance to look back at the flowers. The purple and blue ones at this point stood out the most, and she stared at them longingly as she started thinking about home - back on Vytal Island, back where Amethyst was. The colors of her Aura, which Amara had first seen when the two participated in a food fight. It flickered blue and violet, like brilliantly colored embers rising from a fire, as she cleaved through some boy’s melon weapon with her own makeshift leak sword. Amara began to grin as she thought about that day, her face glowing bright red as she stumbled on a rock in their path. Max’s voice announcing their arrival finally snapped her out of her daydream, but the butterflies that had manifested themselves in her stomach remained. She beheld a tall building split into two segments, the first she noticed was a roughly three story tall building. Next two that was a slightly smaller building, shaped from red bricks with a peculiar dome on the top. Four chimneys rose from atop this place, hopefully indicating it was nice and warm inside when it came to be winter. “Nice.” She murmured under her breath, following closely as Max led her to the door. She was probably close enough to hold the kid’s hand, though she kept hers balled into a tight fist to slug him if he tried anything funny. As the door chimed, her steel blue eyes were immediately drawn to several weapons racks scattered across the place. Her jaw dropped, scrutinizing the racks with laser-like precision. Of varying sizes, each rack seemed to have something new and interesting. There were several different styles of swords, axes, even things like guns. It was a guns that drew her in the most, feeling herself gravitate towards a long-barreled pistol settling on a rack of its own. She almost started to drool, her eyes bright and wide as she took in every last detail of the thing. Amara knew she’d never have money for the thing, but she could replicate it with Kaecilius if she had a picture of the things in her head and a little bit of time. A prideful grin on her face as she lazily followed Max to the counter. At the sound of the bell, two people revealed themselves - a man and a woman. The guy was tall, almost two full feet taller than she was. It was daunting being in that man’s shadow, and she found herself swallowing down an invisible lump in her throat. The man’s beard was eye grabbing, but Amara managed to keep herself from staring. The woman, however, was shorter - though she was still taller than Amara. The two of them were dressed kinda “rough” as Amara’d say, donning leather and rags. Seeing Max, they lit up instantly, rushing to the boy and welcoming him with hugs. "Maxie sweetie! Welcome home!" The woman cheered, following by a chuckle from the man. “Welcome home, son.” The man’s voice boomed.Max was embarrassed, wiggling out of his mother’s embrace with his face blushing red. "Amara, these are my parents Alice and Chuck Chromium." Max said in introduction. Amara nodded and waved back, laughing nervously as she answered back. “Nice to meet ya guys!” She squeaked shyly. “I’m Amara!”

As Amara introduced herself to them, Both Chuck and Alice smiled down at the young girl happily. Alice was the first to approach her nice and slow like. The young woman would look Amara over for a moment before smiling a nice and gentle smile and clapping her hands together happily in approval. She then stepped back gently and ran one of her small hands through her hair as she decided what to say. It wouldn't be long until Alice decided to just go for it after looking back at her husband who was edging her forward. "It's so Nice to meet another one of Maxie's little friends! You are so pretty Amara, you must turn a lot of heads! Good on you girl! If you have your eye on any of our fine weapons, I'll gladly give you a discount because you're friends with my baby boy!"Max, Hearing his mom refer to him as her baby boy just grunted and ran his palms down his face in annoyance. He knew that she meant well but when ever he brought a friend home she would always gush all over them and treat him like a child. Once a few moments had past, Max cleared his throat causing Alice to look over at her son and blush while sticking her tongue out. She then skipped back over to her family and proceeded to squeeze her son in another hug causing him to sigh. Taking this as a sign that he could speak, Chuck stroked his beard and looked toward Amara. "I'm assuming that the reason you and my son are here is because he wants to get his pistols fine tuned for that big tournament hubabaloo am I right? If you like, I can give your weapons a look see if you have them with you. Usually we charge for such things but since you are my boys friend, this ones on us."Once Max finally wiggled out of his mothers grip, he couldn't help but smile at his dad and just give him a small nod of thanks and respect. Once the trio all exchanged looks, they all held out their right hands in a fist bump type fashion. Before they touched fists however, all three of their aura's flared to life filling the room with light and sweet smells. Max's aura shined a beautiful Chrome color that was thick in density but was smooth and gave off the scent of Vanilla. Alice's aura was a bright flame like orange and seemed to flow off of her as if she herself was on fire while giving off the smell of cinnamon. To finish off the trio, Chuck's aura seemed to be a thick iron gray kind of color that seemed to be rough and worn but yet seemed to be covered in spikes while giving off the scent of chocolate. As the family bumped fists, their aura's seemed to combine to form a beautiful new unnamed color that also gave off a powerful feeling. Once the moment had passed, the three aura's seemed to fade away and the trio just seemed to chuckle to each other. It was obvious that despite their vast differences, the Chromium family when combining their strengths together were a near unstoppable force. Once they finished their family chuckle, Max pulled his twin pistols out from his ammo bag and handed them off to his father, the guns looking like tiny toys in the man's large hands. "Once your done, why don't we have one of our three way fights? I am so gonna win this time!"Hearing his sons challenge just caused Chuck to let out a hardy loud laugh. He then just grinned at his son. "The day you beat us is the day I retired from the weapon making business boy and that's never gonna happen!"The two men while laughing together, walked into the back of the shop leaving both Alice and Amara alone to talk. Once the boys were out of earshot, Alice just sighed and shook her head. "They have been like this ever since Max was young. When ever Max comes home for a visit he challenges us to a sparring match. He's faced us 99 times so far and hasn't won yet but he won't stop trying. If you'd like Amara there are more weapons on the second and third floors. The second floor is where a bulk of the bladed weapons are and the top floor is where we keep our more..explosive weaponry. You must be hungry after your long trip, I just made some peach cobbler if you want some."Alice then just sighed happily as her husband and her son's bickering and joking could be heard from all the way in the back of the store. The Chromium family while a mixture of all kinds of personalities, still loved one another as much as possible. "Once you finished looking at the weapons, I could show you Mine and Chucks while I tune yours up."Amara Reedman
