A yawn loudly escaped past Azure’s lips as she wearily pushed her body off her bed. Her voice groaning inwardly as she rubbed at her still sleep-filled eyelids. The Faunus’ ears twitched to attention, picking up the conversations of every loud mouthed student walking the streets outside, much to her annoyance. “Damn, why the hell are people so frickin’ loud at…” reaching for her Scroll, the time “2:23” boldly flickered across the screen.“Oh, yeah. That’ll do it.” She answered flatly.
It was strange. Usually Sepia would have barged into her room screaming like a banshee to wake up, but the strict captain was mysteriously absent. After poking her head out the door, the house also seemed unusually quiet. A quick scan of the area by using her Semblance validated that fact. Her teammates were all probably well into their days elsewhere. Sepia was likely bossing around some poor underclassman, Taupe would be out for a drive like always, and Guin… Azure paused and scratched her head. Despite knowing Guin the longest out of the three, much about the girl was still a mystery to her. Azure knew that she enjoyed reading, and sewing on occasion, though typically just solitary hobbies that allowed her to stick to herself. It was actually quite remarkable how starkly contrasted the two Huntresses were, seeing as Azure craves attention for all her endeavors.
Alas, the pondering of Guin’s interests was interrupted by a sudden rumbling of her stomach, reminding the girl of the fact that she hadn’t eaten in over 12 hours. “Riiiight, I should probably grab some breakfast.” After a quick shower, a change of clothes, and strapping Be-Sharp across her shoulder, Azure set off for the door on a daring quest for food. Perhaps she’ll run into one of her teammates at the market along the way?

And here was Guinevere, randomly shopping about, with her convenient people-free bubble around her. It at least made going into shops a bit easier. Well, until she wanted to get into a place that was packed, then all bets were off. But, she did frequent one store at this hour simply because it was mostly barren in the middle of a class period. The Dust Shoppe. A frequent customer, Guinevere really wished the place had a loyalty card of some sort. She figured she would be one of the most loyal customers on the island. It also helped that she occasionally helped grind raw crystal into its powdered form for the shopkeeper. Though volatile, some people wanted it badly enough – like the crazy girl sticking dust in a mortar and pestle – to get it in such a state.
She had picked up a few more Gravity and Kinetic crystals since her present supplies were running low. She had considered getting some more Orange, but she was probably set on that sort until the Tournament. Kinetic she needed to work with a little more, and Gravity was just always the most expensive sort she could get her hands on. Whenever a new batch came in, she made her way over to the store as soon as she could to get a good pick of the stock. Given the quotes some of the shadier students at the school had approached her with for their ‘stash’ of Void Dust, it felt cheap next to the similarly colored Dust.
Bag in hand, her bubble was starting to form again. As she looked across the street though, she saw a familiar face. “Hey, A-!” Her slight shout was cut off by her own thoughts. Her hair still looked a little damp and her clothes were still wrinkled from how they were folded. Sepia wasn’t home so far as he was aware. At that moment, the bell chiming for three quarters past the hour tolled. Two. Forty. Five. The damned bat. “Azure Van Hamelin. Are you just now rolling out of bed?!” Her voice was a staccato, each word pressed and accentuated. Staring for a moment, she began making her way towards her wayward partner with a brisk pace.

A delighted smile crept onto the Huntress’ face as a myriad of odeurs swirled around the marketplace. She paused and inhaled deeply as she passed by a burger stand, the crackling sound of oils and the smell of frying bacon filling the air around it. On most days this would be her first and final stop, but today she woke up with a particular taste. She was on the prowl for her favorite snack of all, the elusive fried zucchini.
It was a shame that her semblance didn’t reveal the location of every zucchini in a 180 foot radius instead. She honestly felt like she would get more use out of it in that regard.
As she continued to walk and eye the contents of each food stall she passed, her ears suddenly picked up on a familiar voice in the crowds… And it sounded upset. Damn. The girl momentarily contemplated feigning deafness, but in her experience, that effect isn’t as believable for those blessed with two sets of ears. “Oh, ‘sup Guin.” she casually greeted the girl with a two-fingered salute, as if nothing was wrong with the accusation. “What, is too ‘insufferable’ for me to sleep in a bit?” The Faunus female bore a smarmy grin as she echoed one of their captain’s favorite words for bat.

Guinevere snorted at Azure’s mocking remark. “Just be glad that sophisticated lady isn’t around right now or you would be written up for skilling class. Again.” She decided her trip back home to drop off her recently acquired crystals could be delayed momentarily. She started slowly in the direction Azure was heading, assuming that she would assume her walking pace once they had rendezvoused.
Noting their direction, she figured that Azure was on the prowl for something, and she had probably just signed herself up to this trip for the next few hours. On the bright side, she was done with class for today and only had planned on grinding some dust down when she got back to the house. “What are you out here looking for, exactly?” She looked around her, noting they were going deeper into the restaurants and food stalls that littered some of the marketplace. “It would probably be a bit benificial to have two pairs of eyes in on the action.”

The Faunus simply shrugged in response before chuckling lightly to herself. “Hey, my distant ancestors were nocturnal. You’re lucky to see me at all during the day.” She quipped with an even wider smile, the girl’s sharp fangs now fully on display. “‘Sides. What our fearless leader doesn’t know, won’t drive her crazy!” Azure snickered once more as she tapped her index finger against her lips as a sign for secrecy. She was glad to see her teammate joining her pace. Azure was never one to shun company, and it had been awhile since just the two of them hung out.
“What else, other than the tastiest food ever conceived by mankind!?!” she beamed, her enthusiasm very obviously rising as she spoke. “Fried. Zucchini. It’s not on a lot of menus, but oohhhh man, if you’ve never tried it you’re missing out!” She continued, her expressions becoming more and more animated as the conversation. “Okay, the texture is like, the perfect blend between soft and crispy, while the flavor is a mixture of salty and sweet! It’s BASICALLY four foods in ONE!” She gleefully exclaimed without persuasion. Her mouth was already salivating just thinking about the treat.
“I’ll let you try one when we get there. Lucky for us, I’m pretty sure there’s a joint around here that still sells’em.”

Guinevere rolled her eyes as she walked with Azure. Of course she wouldn’t tell their leader. There wasn’t a soul alive she couldn’t chastise the ears off of, and she would prefer not to provoke anything if it could be prevented. Besides, wasn’t the cheesy bat-toothed grin supposed to be something found in those romantic comedy novels? If she wanted to, she could probably find one of her leader’s room and be able to use it for her endless amusement.
She was sure she had probably heard this spiel from Azure before, though she didn’t remember it. Though fried foods were not typically her thing – but step away from the mozzarella sticks – she would entertain her partner for the time being. “But Zucchini? I thought you told me you were a Fruit Bat or something.” She guessed Azure more or less just told her the type of bat she needed to be to enjoy a particular activity at this point. “Though this makes me wonder what deep fried mango would taste like.” She had always had a slight liking of mangos, despite how difficult it was to peel and core the damn things.
Turning a more quizzical eye towards Azure though, she had to ask, “So, do you know where they have them, or are we wandering aimlessly through the streets until we find them?”

”ACTUALLY...” Azure smugly grinned as she readjusted an invisible pair of glasses. “Zucchini belong to the Squash family, which makes them a fruit!” She corrected, ending with a haughty chuckle. “You might beat me when it comes to aura, Grimm, dust, science, geography, and history, but I’m unmatched when it comes to food!” Crossing her arms over her chest and holding her head up high, the young Faunus took great satisfaction in one of her few scholastic victories over her partner.
“Mmmm, a little of column A, a little of column B.” She answered with a shrug as the pair rounded the next corner. “I’m not totally sure. I was partying pretty hard that night, so I’m flying blind here.” This information likely wouldn’t come as much of a shock to the puppeteer. Azure had a bit of a reputation around campus for being an actual party animal, which was a title that she was quite fond of. “But on another note, what’s in the bag?” Azure asked, gesturing towards her partner’s recent purchase.

Guinevere rolled her eyes at her partner’s reaction. “Yeah, you’re right. But just because a tomato is a fruit doesn’t make people put it in a fruit salad.” She could be as equally as snarky back towards Azure, and was on no loss of occasions. “And so far as being unmatched at food, I’m pretty sure you’d end up making the stove melt if you tried cooking on it. That’s why one of the rest of us usually does the cooking around the place.” She flashed a grin towards Azure with her comment.
To her second question, Guinevere carefully reached down to her bag and flipped open the top flap to the satchel. From the top of the bag, she’d be able to make out half a dozen violet kinetic crystals and three large opalescent violet-black gravity crystals. Each was neatly padded in the bag to prevent jostling – she was carrying around about the most volatile forms of dust with her at the moment and would rather not become some sort of explosive black hole from two breaking themselves on each other. “Picked these up at the shop today. They came in this morning and I was the third in line to get at the selection. I’m happy with the cuts I got, though someone got the purest Grav I’ve seen in a while right in front of me. I figure if I’m going to be in this Tourney, I’ll need to stock up a bit.”
She knew that Azure was used to her slowly chipping away at the crystals and powdering them in her room into the late hours of the night. “If you hear an explosion from my work room tonight, don’t worry too much. It’s probably just me hitting the Kinetic a bit harder than I wanted.”
