Guinevere had made some headway in the book she was working with, and was once again emerging from one of the back corners of the basement with a number of books. Each was once again marked with a black tag or note on the spine noting that it came from the ‘by permit only’ areas of the library, and she carried about a dozen of various sizes on her arms. Though the section was always well-monitored, the study desks were sometimes crowded or taken, and she needed to find a spot to plop her things down and read where people could see her. She wound her way through the building until she found a spot in plain view of one of the clerk’s tables, in the cooking section.
It seemed to be the only good place to read where students would not frequent. Being over her frustration and pent up problems from the prior few days for the most part, she did not need to obstruct foot traffic today. So, she set up shop, grabbing her writing pad and strewing the books across the table. A few on Grimm, a number on Void Dust, and even one on Divine Dust were all splayed out in front of her. She pulled a final book from her satchel and placed it in the middle of this pile. It had sufficient enough paper and fabric sticking out of it in the form of bookmarks that it looked more like a fleece pillow than an actual book.
And so, she flipped it open and started her cross referencing. Though she was not the fastest around, her constant bobbing and flipping through books would probably give that impression. It was more just from multiple years of accessing this material that let her know her access was limited and would be finished in a couple hours. As such, both hands were constantly flipping pages, shuffling books, and writing in her notebook based on what book she had her nose in at a particular time.

Max loved the library! They often had just the right cook book or book on dust or weapons that he was looking for! Since class had let out, the young hunter decided to spend his afternoon surrounded by books but first he needed a fresh change of clothes. The young hunter used his skateboard to quickly swing past his dorm and changed into a fresh pair of jeans, a white t-shirt, a black button down over shirt and black sneakers. He then grabbed his ammo bag, his pistols and his skateboard harness and was one his way. It didn't take the young hunter long to reach his destination as long as he ignored the yells of many groups of students as he skated through their groupings with his hands in his pockets. As he rolled past them, he just chuckled to himself.
"Serves them right for staying in such tight clumps like that!"
Max knew deep down that he was seen as somewhat of an odd duck because of how during his first three years of training he had completely avoided other people spurring rumors of anti-social or down right violent tendencies which frankly weren't true. As Max arrived at the library, he stepped off his board and used his left foot to kick it up into the air to be caught in his left hand. He then slipped it into it's harness and walked through the doors. As he walked in he spotted a familiar and yet unfamiliar face. He knew only her name and that she was seen as sort of an outcast kind of like he was due to the fact that her work dealt with purposely being around grim. If Max was honest, He thought that was totally cool and decided to not believe the rumors. The only other thing he knew about her was that she was a year older then he was.
Once he was done thinking about the fellow book worm, Max made a quick stride past her to where he knew that the cook books and related learnings were kept. Max enjoyed cooking for those around him in the dormatories, often leaving out a pot luck for those who were hungry to enjoy but never taking credit. Max was currently learning how to make a dish called chicken fried steak and so needed a book on frying things that you grilled. Once he got the right section he quickly found the book he was looking for and decided he would try something most people avoided. He was gonna try and talk to Guinevere. Feeling brave, Max walked over to the table she was sitting at and pulled out a chair across from her.
"Mind if I join you? Your name is Guinevere right?"

Guinevere had been working through one section of her book in particular – something about a reference between Divine dust and Grimm, in some relation to how the former most could help cure the latter. The words were all cryptic, and the single source she thought she needed had branched into four. A disgruntled sigh also made her realize another thing. Based on the missing books, and the student she had met some days prior, she would need to go make an exchange of sorts. This in and of itself had her fuming a bit when the boy walked by the first time.
Another reference trail was just speaking about what sorts of Grimm void dust could attract. She had seen mention of a couple types she had not heard of before, and so was now on another trip diving through another branch of the manuscripts. ‘Mind if I join you?’ Her frenzied flipping stopped and she looked up towards the male. She was occupying nearly the entire table, and the only reason the spot he was aiming to sit at was open was because she had not yet opened the book. The request was like nails on a chalkboard in her mind and brought the entire train of thought to a crashing halt. She did not appreciate this character. At all.
“Yes…” She said, eye glaring at the boy as he sat. She flipped another page in the book she had been looming over. “I do mind.” She was running on limited time with the books and taking up that last bit of valuable space could lead to her not finishing all she wished before her time was up.

Max couldn't help but pout as the rather cranky girl forbade him to sit across from her. The young Hunter just made a small huffing sound before grabbing his book and deciding to just scoot his chair back a bit and crossing his legs in his chair and sitting the book in his lap. He then stuck his tongue out at the young girl before opening the book in his lap and beginning to flip the pages rather slowly as he scanned the book with his index finger. Max often spent his life moving at a rather high speed be it in battle or on his skateboard and so when he was forced to slow down, he truly felt as if his brain and the world around him slowed to a crawl. As he scrolled the pages with his finger he just stole a glance toward the girl.
"Ya know, I've heard about you. You're the woman who actively works with the grim to try and learn about them yea? Most people find that weird but I think it's cool. I mean ya gotta think like the enemy to beat them right? I kinda admire that."
With his opinion thrown in in an attempt to break the ice, Max went silent and kept scrolling the pages of his rather large book slowly. How did people manage to sit still this long to read!? It was almost as bad as when Max had to sit still in class and just listen to the teacher while the clock just ticked away. It was the absolute worst! If he didn't keep getting in trouble for it, Max would roll on his board with a book in front of face. He always learned best when on the move. As he got to the section about the different rareness colors of Meat, Max looked up once more and gave the girl a rather awkward but friendly smile.
"You know..I always thought it was better to be different from everybody else. When I was doing my first three years of training I kinda just stayed away from everybody cause I was super focused on my goal of being a hunter. I realized though how quick that can get old, boring and kinda lonely. I'm just saying..I don't know..if You wanted to like hang out sometime and just do stuff, i'de be totally open to that. I could help you with your grim stuff."
Max then just blushed and looked down to his book once more. The young hunter was an excellent moving shot but when it came to moving along a conversation, let alone with a girl he shot nothing but blanks.

Guinevere frowned to herself when the boy still sat down despite her protests. She didn’t notice him stick his tongue out at her, although the slow, labored flips of the pages were beginning to wear on her nerves. She continued flipping through the various books, bouncing back and forth between three that seemed to be forming circular references with one another. She found it interesting since of the three books, the one common reference did not seem to have changed between editions. Though they referenced the second edition, here she was reading the fourth with almost no structural changes to the material. She found it interesting, although a cheap way to get more cash for the publisher.
While she was mulling over the thought in her head, the boy spoke his first lines, blithering on about knowing her and the purpose for her studies. If he were going for flattery, he fell flat. If his aim was to provoke her, he was drawing near that line. As he finished his lines and went back to his mock ‘reading,’ Guinevere held her words in favor of writing and reading more. When words were not going down on the page, she was absentmindedly paying down an outstretched Krahe wing in her notes. And then, the banshee spoke again. She scoffed at this point. Not only was this boy obstinate enough to believe that he could identify with her, but he was dim-witted enough to not only propose helping her on her work, but to want to ‘hang out’ with her. Like hell.
She sat down her pen and looked up towards the blushing bumbling buffoon. “Foremost, I do not work with Grimm. Secondly, I have both a partner and a team to help me with my studies. Third, if anyone were irreproachable enough to tolerate your mewling maw, I’d sooner see them on the High Council than ‘Hanging out’ with you.” Through with her dismissal of the pest, she turned her head back down to her books, thoroughly ignoring whatever his reaction was. She figured that at this point, she may have hurt his fragile feelings and took a couple deep breaths to calm herself before she turned the page in her notebooktp continue on with her writing.

Man this girl was rude! All Max wanted to do was try and make a new friend but noooooo she had to be a total butt to him. Max thought that the whole reason that they were going to school with one another was so that they could build relationships with their fellow future hunters. As the girl proceeded to tell him off and try to correct him, Max just rolled his eyes at her and proceeded to slam his book closed and then slam it on the table. He then sat up straight and pulled his twin pistols out from his satchel and began twirling them in his hands.
"There is no need to be so rude. I am just trying to get to know you! It is kinda part of the point of this place ya know, to get to know and form bonds with our fellow hunters! That way we know we have someone to say..Keep us from getting shot in the face when we are rude to someone who is just trying to make a new friend."
Max then stopped spinning his pistols just long enough for them to stop in an upright position and aimed right between the girls eyes. Max then grinned a silent grin as if daring her to try something against him. He then began twirling his pistols once more while keeping his right foot pressed against the edge of the table just in case he needed to push off in case a fight broke out. He knew that it was against school rules to get into actual weapon fights inside the library but this woman's manners left a lot to be desired and Max thought that someone needed to put her uppity ass in it's place.
"Now why don't we try this again but without the snark yea? My name is Max, what's yours?"
As he waited for the rather rude woman to answer his question, Max raised an eyebrow with slight interest and he waited to see what her choice would be. Max normally was against breaking a school rule but if it meant showing someone not to disrespect him while also teaching them manners, he wouldn't mind making an exception. As he waited, the young hunter just twirled his pistols absent mindedly. One of three things was about to happen, she would be nice, she would start a fight or she would just walk away. Max kinda hoped it was the second one.

When the boy flipped his book closed, Guinevere was beginning to feel a bit relieved. Then he slammed it down on the one open piece of table and from the sounds of it, had pulled out his weapons. Guinevere didn’t even look up from her position looming over her books. He had just been demoted to a child in her mental books. Without so much as hesitating in her words, she coldly replied back, “From my observations and your own words, you are the one who spent their years as an underclassman actively avoiding people. I have both friends and those who dislike me at this school.” Not moving so much as her shoulders, she flipped a couple more pages in a book and scribbled down another note.
“I also have teammates who would step up to the firing line with me.” She finally looked straight towards the gun. “You are immature enough to brandish a weapon in the library when your feelings get hurt, and brazen enough to do it over a set of books that I need to be monitored while reading.” She turned her gaze back down, not so much as caring a single Lien about this child. “If you would prefer to not be removed from the library by the librarian at the desk to my left, if would be recommended that you lower your weapons. Now.”

“Woah there, easy with those things Killer. Somebody could get hurt!” A smokey, feminine voice chided as a tall woman emerged from the nearby aisle. Bearing dark skin and electric blue hair while carrying a large nylon container on her back, the Faunus female definitely stood out from the crowd. With equally piercing blue eyes darting between the two, the woman’s full lips then steadily grew into a wry grin as she mentally pieced the situation together. “...Is this mean girl bothering you?” She asked in a mock concerned tone, though her playful expressions betrayed her intent.
She awaited the younger boy's answer before finally turning her attentions back to Guinevere, her smile growing even wider as she noted the girl’s rising irritability. “Heya Guin. I was going to ask if you wanted to chill later, buuuuut…” Glancing over her shoulder, she flashed a wink at the boy. “I see you’ve already made a friend!” she added with a snicker. It was obvious that at the very least, this woman was finding the whole situation very entertaining.

Max was close to how much asshole tendencies he could take from the girl sitting across from him as she once again began mocking him and calling him childish for pulling out his guns in a place meant for books and not fighting. Max was getting rather angry at how she seemed to mock him at every turn and he was about to tell her just that until someone new entered the fray. The young girl with blue hair walked onto the scene and asked if Guin was bothering him. The young girl then turned to wink at him which caused Max to blush very slightly. When the girl called Max her friend, Max just scoffed and stood up from his seat while only putting one of his pistols back into his suit pocket.
"We aren't friends. I don't think she knows the meaning of the word. I think you should find her a book on the subject."
Max then just grabbed the book he had brought with him and put it under his free arm. He then used his foot to scoot in his chair and turn to walk away. As he took a few steps, he turned back and aimed the pistol in his right hand toward guin once more. He then scowled at her, his usually friendly face dark and upset which made his golden eyes spark.
"If you ever are rude to me or disrespect me or my partner again, I will not hesitate to put a bullet through your eyes and just see if your aura saves you."
Max then pocketed his pistol and began to walk away once more to where the cook books were kept, only looking back once to just acknowlage the blue haired woman who seemed to come to his aid. Once the book was put away, Max just headed for the exit while making sure to keep his guard up in case either one of them tried anything funny.
"Disrespectful witch."

Oh, Azure. You always show up at the best times. The tone of her voice said it all; she was here to escalate things, not that pulling guns in the library wasn’t already escalating the situation. And chill later? Azure might just lay down on some accidentally placed ice dust crystals tonight and get frozen to her bed. That would teach her a lesson or two. She probably wouldn’t be able to do too much though, since their glorious team leader would make sure there was hell to pay if she found out.
Then Max went on his tirade. His mindless diatribe fell on deaf, uncaring ears. He need not look more than a foot away to see one of her friends here in the flesh. His threat was rather hollow; not only did she only have one eye for him to put a bullet through – making his point on ‘eyes’ moot, but she also never disrespected the child who clearly needed lessons on manners.
As he stormed towards the exit, Guinevere pinched her cheeks some, holding off a grin. Her eye certainly wouldn’t lie, however as she glanced up towards Azure. She had set down her pen at this point and lifted it towards her mouth. She was shaking slightly, with a snort of held back laughter coming out here and there. Making eye contact with Azure for a couple seconds of ‘silence’ the dam burst. A thunderous giggling laughter exploded from Guinevere as she bent over the books and hit the table with an outstretched arm. Such was the tumult that the librarian seated just a bit away had probably started tapping her pen on her desk. Between her cackles, she did manage to eke out “D-did ya s-see the look on his face?” before collapsing again to her laughter.
