💧 APPEARANCE
Guinevere stands at a diminutive 5’ 4” tall, and weighs just under 110 lb. Petite and lithe, she does not have a lot of the ‘stock’ most other girls have at her age. She could likely afford to work out more, if only to encourage a little more eating on her end. But, she’s not working with any rolls of fat, so she’s probably fine. Though she does not work on her skin much, she has been able to increase her tan a little bit in the past few years, and is more of a cream-tan than her natural porcelain tone. The raggedy mop up top would probably look something like a pixie cut if she kept up with it, but instead the deep auburn locks fall haphazardly about her face, often obscuring her right eye and the scars around it.
Ah, yes, her eye. The touchy subject aside, her natural eye still holds its dark green, foresty color. Beneath the untamed bangs rests a similar looking glass eye, though with a bit less depth to the green.
If we look elsewhere, well, women often wear layers. If we follow this analogy, most might be a leek with a couple noteworthy layers. Guinevere is an onion wrapped in an anomaly. Everyone’s crazy about a sharp dressed man, but what if a firecracker wore a similar style? Tailored and trimmed tails of the most sophisticated fashion. The outer mantle Guinevere dons is something of her own making, a sleek white canvas women’s tuxedo overcoat lined with crimson velvet. The contraption, of course, is reversible and is embroidered with her emblem stylized on the upper back.
Casting off that layer, we have a two-hit combo up top with a white undershirt with a frilled neckline that would make some grandmothers raise some eyebrows spilling over the top of a deep crimson stained leather vest/corset hybrid design. Unfortunately, with little to work with, there isn’t a pronounced effect outside aesthetics. The vest itself is secured with pewter buttons and laced tightly up the sides to give Guinevere a nice profile from any angle. Below this layer, she has a small silver necklace with a white crystalline water droplet as a pendant.
On her bottom(s), she follows a bit of the same formal style. Some good riding pants never go out of style, though she’s always found it frustrating that she has had to get rid of so much room up from when tailoring the guys’ pants to her size. At least she understands where all the pocket space guys talk about fits. Though not the best looker from the side, she will admit to admiring her wide stance a bit from time to time when making adjustments. Alterations seem to be her theme, and she has taken some knee high boots from the lighter end of the tanning rack and fitted a bit more of a billow to their laces, letting her get a bit more leg fitting of a shape to them. Do they have heels? Of course not. What do you take her for, some dainty action girl that gets off balanced from giving kicks? Seriously.
All in all, this is what most people will likely spot Guinevere in. Events may change her looks slightly – she does have a couple nice ball gowns and other options for other evening events, as well as some of the more “sporty” garb that some people insist on her wearing. Jerseys are so monotonous. Oh, and she’s obviously got a couple uniforms as well, though she’s tried to alter them with longer skirts or to steal some pants. Doesn’t anyone else think the length the school hands out gets a little… drafty?
💧 PERSONALITY
💧 HISTORY
Guinevere never knew her parents. Her aura was not particularly well-received, and her parents quietly deposited her on the steps to the Cela Monastery shortly after her birth. Doing what any baby would do, she cried. The monks at the orphanage would do their best, but none could match the closeness that her Aura seemed to so desperately desire. Still, Guinevere cried. The monks tread carefully around her when sleeping almost in fear of startling her awake. The simplest solution they had found was strange though; if they placed her with someone to snuggle with, her crying would stop. Slowly through these beginning years, the appearance of her Aura faded, as well as her ‘need’ to sleep around others.
If you were to walk around the orphanage a few years later, you would be none the wiser to her ‘affliction.’ A bundle of energy, running about like a white streak between monks and visitors, Guinevere looked and played the part of a perfectly normal little girl. She laughed and played, climbed and explored. Nowhere in the Monastery was off-limits to her - even if it was an off limits area. Friends were hard to come by because of her freakiness, so she often found herself getting in trouble on her own. She did make a few here and there, but kindhearted kids that age tend to be grabbed up by families looking to adopt rather quickly. Meanwhile, she remained unclaimed because of the Aura that rippled around her.
Leaping forward a few more years, Guinevere had become a little more daring with her explorations, not only staying up past her bedtime due to a persistent insomnia, but also venturing away from and off Monastery grounds. Often, she would run down to the street fairs, watching performances and tradespeople late into the night. She learned how to sew and sing from one kindhearted woman, whose voice melted away any fears in the young girl’s heart. Guinevere also made exploratory trips into the forests surrounding the city, breaking both City and Monastery rules to do so. She didn’t think much of it, because she had only read about Grimm in books. She had heard about their destructive tendencies, but as a naive child, dismissed them for the adventures she could have. However, one night was different. She came across was some sort of… bear? A black and white teddy bear! A panda, perhaps?
If only.
The following is only known by her, and has never been disclosed.
She walked to the lazing beast, her still immature Aura, bounding with youthful happiness rolling off her fingertips, budding with curiosity. When she touched the bear, it was not what she had been expecting. Its fur was… cold? Her head rushed. She was looking down at herself? Why was she angry? What was this despair? This sorrowful feeling? Why could she not find anything happy? Suddenly, a body-rending pain. Vision was fading away. She saw the bear again as a claw was coming down. She was still frozen with whatever pain had struck her.
This claw crossed her frozen face, marring her side. She did not feel it. The first blow had already killed her. Yes, that is what this was. Something had just struck her down. The bear fell apart before her, cleanly dissolving from deep slashes left across its body. Across Her body. She collapsed.
What just happened?
Who is this?
Did you hit her too?
No, I- …What?
We need to get her to the monastery.
When she came to, she shuddered awake. Pain racked her body. She was dead. But, she was here. Why? “Welcome back little one.” One of the monks. “It looks like you were brought here for a reason after all.” She remembered the warm smile and then closing her eyes.
End unknown content.
A few years later, we can see a bit darker toned Guinevere, Aura tamed by some unknown means. Shorter hair, and now supporting some fancy-looking hairclips to hold the bangs back on her left side. She still runs around, and now visits the fairs in Pinnacle more often than before. Puppet making had become a fancy of hers, and a melody filled her lungs as she walked the streets. Life was good, and she would make of it what she could. She would be off to Vytal soon, and a new chapter would blossom.
During her years as an underclassman, she studied dust and its ways to some extent, but spent the majority of her studies focused on two areas: Aura and Grimm. The former was plainly obvious given her ‘condition,’ but the latter reason remained a mystery. She hasn’t disclosed what exactly happened that night, or other following nights, but to be inside the mind of a Grimm revealed questions no one answered and answers to questions no one asked. She needed to learn more, and learn why.
The decision to become a Huntress was never in question for her. Her only path forward involved interacting with Grimm, and the most reliable means to that was through becoming a Huntress. Her common explanation is that she wants to fight Grimm and protect people, but there have been a couple occurrences to her that suggest at least the headmaster is more aware of her motive than she is necessarily comfortable with. Azure, her teammate with enough spunk to match her style may have pieced some together as well, though for reasons outside of mere observational studies.
I am unaware of a present headmaster, but they may conclude that given her ability, there may be a semblance of sympathy in Guinevere’s heart for the Grimm. That she might feel they are a little misunderstood. This is also a not-in-character knowledge note, as an aside. She has never publicly confirmed this and refrains from activities that might cause her to raise such suspicion.

💧 COMBAT NOTES
WEAPONS
Hammer’s Fancy: Sometimes, someone acts up on stage. They over-act and make things look… sloppy. Maybe a vocalist is a bit too loud. These, unlike another definition of the term, are Hams, and their hamming up makes the entire production look to be of poor quality and taste. They might fancy particular punishments for their behavior.
Passive:
Hammer’s Fancy takes the form of two hairclips. These hairclips bear the image of nine roses and are covered with metallic leaves and filigree. In this state, they can hold back hair and look fanciful. Hammer’s Fancy has three combat forms, each unfolding from the hairclips in elegant fashion. Each of the two hairclips can assume any of these states – the two never combine to form a larger weapon of sorts.
Cello:
Recently, and taking inspiration from her companion Azure Hamelin, Guinevere has been working on making Hammer’s Fancy into a functional Cello as a more active form in its passive state. Besides, who wouldn’t like some cello accompaniment for a rocking guitar shredding solo? This still requires some tuning to get right, however.
Whips:
Unfurling its strings and structuring the filigree leaves around its core, Hammer’s fancy takes the form of a Captain’s Daughter. The end of each throng is terminated by a small rosebud of keen quality. The lash stings and slashes like the thorn of a rosebush. The cables comprising the whip itself have a maximum range of 25 feet, though the most used range is closer to the order of 10. Retracting the roses fully causes the buds to blossom into a cornucopia of colour.
Bow:
Unfurling to its fullest extent, Hammer’s delight shapes itself into a bow, decorated with the same flowers and leaves as its other forms. The string formed by these wires and bound tightly into a lattice form the drawstring of the bow. No arrows however, are provided for the bow itself and they must be formed out of the dust contained within the weapon.
Blocking Bar:
So, you want to use my screen time? Then you will use it how I want you to use it.
Blockers direct action scenes and design the choreography seen on the stage for battles. Hammer’s Fancy folds up into a control bar for marionettes in this state, a thin wire cable hanging down from each rosebud on the cross pieces. In this state, these wires can extend approximately 100 feet from Hammer’s Fancy, and can operate as conduits for Guinevere’s Semblance: Curtain Call.
General Details:
The wires are made of a combination of Kinetic and Glass dust threads. They themselves do not carry much power, and are present primarily to act as stabilizers and reinforcement such as to ensure the fibers of Hammer’s Fancy are difficult to break while infused with Guinevere’s Aura.
Each of the nine flowers are tiny capsules capable of containing a variety of dust types. These miniature capsules can only be sufficiently filled by powdered dust, though Guinevere has been experimenting with gels made of liquid and powdered dust for a little more control over the nature of the weapons. It is from these capsules that Hammer’s Fancy draws its power. Whether it is imbuing a whip-crack with a torrent of flame, or injecting ice into the string of her bow for an ice arrow, this is where the real versatility of Hammer’s Fancy is derived.
MISC.
Dust:
Guinevere carries with her several replacement vials (5x)of the basic powdered dust types – Fire, Earth, Air, and Water. It is from these she produces her particular dust mixes to refill the roses on Hammer’s Fancy. At any point in time, she also carries with her two pouches, each containing a complete set (18) of Fire filled and Ice filled rosebuds. She has also recently taken to carrying a third pouch with enough Lightning rosebuds to do a half refill (9) if need calls for it. In addition to these, she keeps a mix of kinetic and glass dust at ‘home’ to do upkeep on the strings of Hammer’s Fancy.
Blocker’s Eye:
Due to a particular… Incident as a child while experimenting with her Semblance, Guinevere lost her right eye and bears a number of prominent scars on that side of her face. Blocker’s eye acts as a substitute eye for Guinevere. In reality, this glass eye is composed of crystalline white dust of unknown origin, and was given to her by the monks at Sela Monastery upon seeing how extensive her injuries were. Easily removable, she can take it out and toss it elsewhere on a battlefield, utilizing Curtain Call and it to gain a new perspective of the battlefield.[/ span]
Deep, opalescent crimson. A heartbeat. Constant, smooth, rhythmic. To some, calming. To others, unnerving. This is how outsiders would describe Guinevere’s Aura. Held in check, small ripples span out from her chest, fading to her extremities with the beat of her heart. Over the years, this has faded with more refined control over the Aura; as a babe, this unchecked aura freely washed over her body and to her surroundings. While in contact with her, one might hear her very heart coursing through this Aura.
Almost alive in some respects, the touch of her hand may lead to a light pins and needles feeling, the aura wave rushing to this point of connection. This may be an unsettling experience for some – often times physical connection is not nearly as accentuated as it is with Guinevere. If one allows themselves to relax into this Aura, the constant feeling of a spiritual heartbeat can be soothing on the order of simply feeling the heartbeat of a friend or loved one in their chest.
Over the years, this form of connection has led to Guinevere being capable of unlocking others’ Auras. This is however, sometimes a detriment when you inadvertently unlock the aura of a baby you’re walking around to comfort and it turns into a screaming, crying, excrement-filled fireball.
Acting as a beacon for the wounded, each pulse of her aura lets of a soft red glow, providing light illumination to the area around her. Focusing it, she is capable of producing a twinkling, fire like light from her body that burns and flickers with the pulse of her heart.
Curtain Call
Like blood pouring from the heart, Guinevere’s semblance is a manifestation of everything she wishes to give that she was never given. The calming nature of her Aura is only the tip of this iceberg. When she wishes it, touch carries far more with it than mere pins and needles. If you have experienced the feeling before, the final moments of the pins and needles feeling when a sense of touch returns to the afflicted appendage with a dash of the tingly feeling one gets when hopping under slightly too warm of water in the shower would be an apt way to describe the feeling of this ‘touch.’ This feeling goes beyond the mere physical layer and resonates with the very soul of those touched.
This touch allows Guinevere to form a physical connection with an individual, conferring a portion of her aura to the affected individual. As long as contact is maintained, the individual benefits from Guinevere’s aura – able to direct damage to her own and utilize the imparted aura for their own aura and semblance. The immediate benefit to Guinevere is that she may see with the eyes of the gifted, in addition to her own. A combination of this with Hammer’s Fancy permits her to make multiple connections by association. Each fiber may be applied to the same or a different target. As with a true puppet master, she can tug on the strings to send thoughts and prompts to those under her influence. If an attack is coming in a blind spot of a ‘puppet’ that she can see, she can prompt (but not control) them to respond – informing them of the oncoming threat.
Any time the imparted aura is used, Guinevere feels it. Any time an injury falls on an ally, she feels it. In theory, this connection could be multi way, but to protect others from the pain of each other, Guinevere acts as a filter, retaining all such injuries – though she herself might not have been the one physically injured. Should the connection be broken, willingly or unwillingly before her imparted aura has been fully utilized, the remaining aura dissipates, returning half to her and leaving none with those she has empowered. In returning to her, all emotions and feelings felt by those her aura has touched is redoubled on her. If someone was in a blind rage, it is likely she will have to contend with that same rage in her own heart.
At the pinnacle of her ability, she can force her aura into another being. (She is yet able to do this with others who possess aura – it must be consensual.) Inanimate objects can be given this aura – albeit briefly – allowing her to project her senses to them. This is most often exhibited by her Blocker’s Eye when she tosses it to get a different vantage point on things. However, the morbid side of Guinevere is exhibited in where she uses this ability in battle. Alone, she is rather non-threatening. Why not make some allies out of enemies? A fallen Grimm normally dissipates, but allow Guinevere to lay a hand on it (or some strings), and she now has a Grimm puppet ‘friend,’ though unwilling they may be. All of the above apply to fallen Grimm. She feels their injuries and their emotions all the same. She’s not necessarily macabre by choice; controlling Grimm and feeling the negative emotions flowing through them is not without its consequences.
Technical summary:
Aura Empowerment – Distribute 5%-30% of Aura to any given ally
-Continual drain of 1 AP per minute beyond initial 5 minute empowerment
-Continual drain of 1AP per minute for each target beyond the first
-If connection is severed, return half of remaining Aura to Guinevere
Aura Injection – Place 5 AP into object to sense through it
-No Aura return, transient effect of 1 minute
Grimm Revival – Distribute 10%-60% of Aura to any given defeated Grimm
-Continual drain of 1 AP per minute beyond initial 5 minute empowerment
-Continual drain of 1AP per minute for each target beyond the first
-If connection is severed, return half of remaining Aura to Guinevere
