The sky was dark and heavy with clouds as fat raindrops fell from the sky. It'd been a perfectly lovely day not even ten minutes ago, but then the clouds had rolled in without warning and drenched everything not under cover. It seemed as if it'd put a dampener on most everybody's day, as the once busy streets and sidewalks quickly emptied out, people rushing indoors or under awnings and trees. It was almost utterly devoid of people for a moment, seeming almost surreal, before the streets once again filled, this time with people carrying umbrellas and wearing thick jackets and sweaters to ward off the water.
Aaron himself stood under the branches of one of the tall trees that decorated the parks and courtyards, with his hands in his pockets as he stared out at the falling rain. A few drops of water fell from his hair and down onto the ground, the man shaking his head to get a bit more off of himself. He'd been caught in the rain just like everyone else and quickly darted his way under here for cover, though his jacket had kept the worse off the rain off of him. He could probably make it to somewhere a little warmer, and with a bit more of a roof, without getting too drenched, but for the moment, standing there was enough. He tilted his head, thinking for a moment that, perhaps, he could be doing something a little more productive with his free time, rather than just standing under a tree and watching the rain fall, but he didn't mind it. It was relaxing, just being a bystander for a moment, and watching the weather and the people.

Lily had spent her day as she always did. She would wake up and attend her early morning classes after a few dozen laps around the campus. She would then spend a few hours in the library. Though she'd made excellent strides on catching up to the rest of the student base, her knowledge was still sorely lacking in too many areas, so she would abuse her semblance in order to squeeze out as much study as she possibly could.
She then attended her afternoon classes, prior to a meditation period to clear her mind prior to her training session, which would consume the rest of her afternoon. Following that, she'd always allotted a small free time slot, which she would use to unwind and relax. Occasionally, she would use that free time slot to hang out with friends. Today, she had spent it sitting in a tree and enjoying the warm sunny afternoon.
At some point, she had fallen asleep in the tree. The girl's body and mind had been pushed to the limit far too many times, for far too long, and she was starting to feel the effects of that. Even when her scroll had sounded it's alarm, letting her know that her free period had ended and she needed to return to her meditations, she remained asleep. She slept up there for perhaps an hour before the defening sound of thunder cracked and she let out a squeal. She jumped out of the tree in surprise.
The sudden falling may have left the average student flailing, but Lily was very adaptive, and twisted her body in the air to land gracefully. A soft squish as she landed in mud being the only indication that she'd landed at all. As she stood straight, she couldn't help but notice the boy who was staring at her, mere inches from her face. Had she fallen even three enches further, she'd have landed directly on top of his head. "Oh uhm... Nice afternoon huh?" She asked yawning and stretching as she took a step back. She wore a simple black dress, and no shoes. The dress was only adorned with a black bow woven into the fibers in the center of her chest. It was a much better looking dress than the black tattered rags that she'd shown up to the school in, and while she only wore those treasured early garments in private now a days, she had liked this simple dress since it reminded her of the comfort of her mother's dress. She had also neglected to put her shoes back on prior to falling out of the tree, something she wasn't all together torn up about. She wiggled her toes in the mud gleefully as she looked around. The sunny warm day had been replaced by rain and thunder. A change Lily didn't particularly mind. She'd always enjoyed the rain.
"Sorry," she said belatedly after stretching and waking up a bit more. "I didn't mean to like... drop in on you. I just kinda didn't expect the thunder."
Her bag and belongings were still up in the tree. For now, they were safe in the boughs so she didn't worry too much about them. She was a bit concerned about how long she'd been asleep, but as her alarm usually woke her up successfully, she didn't worry too much, instead assuming she'd been woken early, not that she'd slept late.

Aaron watched the rain fall as he leaned up against the trunk of the tree, relaxing as he turned his eyes up towards the sky to glimpse at the clouded skies and the rain that it brought with it. The crack and rumble of thunder surprised him somewhat, but nowhere near as much as the black streak that suddenly dropped from the branches above and fell besides the man. His head darted towards the movement, leaning back slightly in surprise, to find himself face to face with a girl, a fair bit shorter than he was, but even then he found himself staring into her gray eyes. Resting atop her black hair was a pair of equally black ears; a faunus?
The girl spoke, yawning as she did so, and seemingly uncaring of the rather close distance between them. That was enough to shake Aaron out of his shock, and he quickly took a step backwards away from her as he turned his head and cleared his throat, trying to compose himself. "Oh, ah... It's... No problem... Just a little surprising..." He glanced up, towards the tree's branches, noting a number of things up there, likely the girl's belongings. He looked back down at her, eyes turning downwards now as he notes the quiet squishing of her toes playing in the mud. She certainly seemed rather care free. "You, uh... You're not hurt or anything?" He asks, tilting his head a little.

She finished stretching as her ears perked up at the peculiar question. "Why would I be?" She said looking at the height from which she'd fallen. It was less than twenty feet.
She examined the boy after a moment, realizing her normal sense for danger wasn't present until just this moment. She scanned him quickly. His amber hair, blue eyes, loose fitting clothing, and generally powerful looking build didn't do much to assure her that her danger sense was simply not needed. This school was making her soft. What was happening to the girl who'd arrived not too long ago, the one who'd freaked out at every new face. The one who saw danger in every passing person. This new Lily was going to get killed one day if she wasn't careful.
"Sorry, didn't mean to drop in on you like that." She said a little bashfully, her body tensed slightly, ready to flee if need be. She took a step or two back surreptitiously, not trying to be too obvious that she was distancing herself. "Hope I didn't scare you or anything." She said looking past him, and towards the rain. She wondered when it had started, as it'd been a clear sunny day when she'd fallen asleep.
She scanned her surroundings, just to be safe. There weren't any others in close proximity. Her carelessness could have cost her much more, though luckily this boy didn't seem to harbor any ill intent.

Giving a concerned frown, Aaron glanced quickly over the girl's body, coincidentally while she was stretching. He quickly realized what he was doing, and again quickly turned his face away from her, staring off at a building in the distance. "Ah... Okay... Was just worried you might have hit something on your way down." He explains quickly, clearing his throat as he takes a deep breath.
He turned back towards her, only to be surprised now by how tense she seemed. She'd gone from relaxed to as stiff as a tree in the span of a single second, as if she'd just realized she had been caught or maybe doing something she shouldn't have been in front of a stranger. His concerned frown returned once more, and the boy furrowed his brows as he looked at her. "It's fine, nobody was hurt or anything." He says trying to reassure her. "I'm just curious as to what you were doing up there anyways? Planning on building a tree house?"

Lily turned away from the boy. She took a few ginger steps out from under the tree and let the rain fall down on her, washing over her form. She sighed, relaxing. The slow and steady fall of cold water relaxing her.
She stood there a moment, almost as if she'd not heard his question, before turning back and stepping into the dry shelter of the tree.
"Meditating at first, and then napping I guess." She said yawning. The dark rings under her eyes were hard to miss. "I dunno how to build a tree house," She said pausing, wondering how viable such a structure would actually be. It might be fun to try, it'd be protected from the worst of the grimm that hunt the ground. If it was properly fortified, it might make for a decent stronghold out in the wilderness. It was something that she would have to study up on...
"Tree houses huh? That's a fun idea..." She said trailing off in thought.
Her mind began whirring, the cogs almost visibly turning as she stood before the boy. She began thinking of how she might have a secured permanent dwelling out in the wildes. After seeing some of the structures created by man in the kingdoms, she believed it to be possible. It was definitely an interesting idea worth exploring one day.

Aaron blinked in surprise as he watched her step out into the rain, letting it wash over her. He opened his mouth to say something before deciding against it, though he gave her a rather curious look a frown creasing his lips. Her dress didn't look like it kept her all that warm, was it really okay for her to be getting soaked like that?
She stepped back under the cover of the tree's branches, seemingly uncaring of the water that dripped off the tips of her hair or the edges of her dress. "I see..." Aaron said after a moment, not quite sure what to say to the girl. She wasn't like anyone he'd ever met before. She was young enough to be a student and Hunter in training, though there was also the possibility she was just the child of someone who lived on the island.
"Napping, huh...?" Aaron finally said after a moment of silence, trying to think of what to say to her. "A bit of a strange spot to take a nap. I figured you'd want to head back to your room after classes to do something like that."

"Trees are fine places to nap. The skies were blue when I dozed off, the sun warm, well, warm enough for this time of year. I couldn't complain," she said with a noncommittal shrug. "It's been a long couple of days, I needed the rest." She said with another yawn. The nap barely seemed to impact the dark bags under her eyes in the slightest. It was clear at a glance that this girl had a severe sleep deficit. "I guess I oughtta get back to it sometime soon though."
As she said that, she crouched low, before leaping. She cleared the distance between the ground and the tree branch she'd been sleeping on in a single jump, landing gracefully before gathering her things and jumping back down, pack slung over her shoulder.
"Don't really need to just yet, but should probably at least keep my books and bag dry." She moved closer to the tree's trunk, getting herself and her belongings out of the range of the falling water. "How long have you been studying here at Vtyal? I'm pretty new myself. It's been a pretty long and difficult journey, but this school is pretty great." She said with an innocent and eager smile. "I love this place, and everything it stands for.
While she spoke, she was shaking her shoes, they had been further out on the branch than the rest of her belongings, and as a result were quite wet. A frustrating fact, but not one that truly effected the wild girl. She had spent the first several weeks at the school walking around entirely without shoes. That she would be unable to wear them for a short while barely registered as an inconvenience.

Aaron takes a step back in surprise as the girl leaps back up into the tree with a single bound. Not a particularly surprising skill, considering what Vytal Academy was known for training, but still a little surprising to happen with someone who was nearby. Aaron's eyes follow the girl up as she picks up her belongings, and then back down as she sets them aside to help keep them dry beneath the tree's branches.
The boy leans his back up against the tree, taking in a deep breath as he turns his head towards Lily to listen to her talk. His face cracks into a small smile as she speaks of how she loved the academy. "Well, then I suppose we're two birds of a feather then. Vytal's a great place. It's hard to find someone here who doesn't belong here." He nods at her, as if in approval. "I've been here for a while, I guess you could say. I'm a senior here. Name's Aaron Bright. It's nice to meet you." He turns his body a little more towards her as he offers her a hand to shake.

Lily looked at the hand before her, and nodded. She'd seen this. She stiffly thrust her arm forward and shook the boy's hand. Her grip was perhaps a little too tight, and her movements perhaps a little too mechanical, but she got the basics down.
"I bet you've got a lot of stories to tell then huh?" She said looking around the school halls. She'd been here for only a few weeks and she already had lots of new and interesting experiences under her belt.
"What's the coolest thing you've ever seen on campus? Anything a newbie like me should know?" She asked.
It was strange, usually she was more averse to meeting new people. She tended to avoid them. Perhaps the senior caught her in a good mood, or perhaps the promise of an upperclassman's experience was too much for her to pass up. At any rate, he had her attention, at least for the moment.
