Maisa’s childhood was very plain - mundane even, so much so she remembers very little prior to her days at Vytal. Why that is, exactly, she has never really understood. There were, however, hardships that came with being the child of a radical White Fang member. Her father was a human, her mother was a Faunus - of the coyote variety. Both parents did remarkably well raising Maisa into the woman she would eventually become, although she admits they did have their shortcomings. Fighting was constant between the couple, as well as the extended family, particularly whenever her mother’s radicalism became the subject of discussion.
She understood the importance of it, the movement for equality and all that. It was a matter that often times left her torn between her family. Who was right? The pacifist humans that didn’t want to fight? Or the Faunus and her people, who so desperately fought for their right to be treated like their fellow man? Given her human heritage, there was a part of Maisa that often sided with her father, though there were often times where she was left feeling obligated to side with her mother. This caused some unneeded friction between the family, but never enough to outright tear them apart.
As she entered her early teens, Maisa began her undergrad tuition at Vytal Academy and became more and more interested in becoming a Huntress. This was a decision that put her at odds with her entire family, all of them chastising her for wanting to “throw her life away” for a purpose they deemed vain. It was disheartening to hear them, the people she had grown so fond of, to shoot down her only dream. It was this time that the picture perfect family they displayed began to fall apart. Did she hate them? Absolutely not. In her heart, Maisa knew they just wanted to protect her, but it still made her so…angry.
Instead of dwelling on opinions she could never change, Maisa instead decided to focus on her studies and, when the time came, decide whether or not to pursue Hunter training at the Academy. It wasn’t easy by any means, but at least it would help her understand the basics of something so fundamental to their livelihood. It was just short of her fourteenth birthday that Maisa discovered her Semblance - Wheel of Twilight - while participating in a small mission to the outskirts of Vytal City. It was strange, giving her the sensation that it was...calling to her. Over time, she grew rather adept in using Wheel of Twilight, using it effectively in combat.
As she matured, it became more and more present that the world was well on its way to becoming shrouded in darkness. Fighting was at an all time high - between man and the Grimm, man and the Cult of Saint Ashes - and there was no sign of it ever subsiding. She feared for her safety, so much so that she decided it was necessary to run away - to focus all her energy to training. She had to get away, she had to be safe - but more than that she resolved to be the greatest. There was too much violence back at home, what with the Fang looming nearby and all. Taking as many of her belongings as she could, Maisa sneaked out of the house one night, making a home for herself in an abandoned house in the on the outskirts of Vytal City.

It was going into her Freshman year that Maisa made who she considered her first true friend - her partner in crime Aaron Bright. He was pleasant company for the then shy Huntress-to-be, their shared sense of willfulness shaping the duo into a formidable team. For a time she traveled between her small shack and the shared house that was designated for the two, having grown accustomed to humble life on the edge of town. Over time, however, she began to feel lonely living so far away from people - especially her partner and only real friend at the time. With that, Maisa made the decision to finally move into the house, despite that initial reluctance.
As the years flew by, Maisa was shaped into the warrior she had always dreamed of becoming. Her and Aaron - as a team - kept some of the highest marks in their class. Holding a celebrity status of sorts at the Academy, it wasn’t uncommon for the two to be volunteered for missions and the like, setting a relatively high bar for the classes to come. Looking ahead, Maisa is intent on continuing her education beyond Vytal - potentially at the Cela Monasteries, or on the road. That said, there is part of her that is afraid to graduate - fearing the loss of her friend and partner, and everything they managed to accomplish together at the school.

Maisa’s main outfit consists of a finely tailored black and blue uniform, inspired by women holding ranks within the Knights of Rift. These colors also correlate with those made manifest when her Semblance - Wheel of Twilight - is activated. Given its overall appearance, one might assume this armor wouldn’t give Masia the necessary protection she needed, but such an assumption would be incorrect and could prove fatal. In fact, Maisa’s Huntress outfit is threaded with Glass Dust, concentrated in the white trim of the uniform, giving it an almost shimmering white glow. This allows her to defend herself as if wearing a full suit of armor, using the Dust to create powerful barriers in her defense, without hindering her movement.
The outfit consists of several parts and - in Maisa’s words - requires a great deal of preparation to ensure everything is in its proper place. A blue halter top, with armor covering her chest, exposing her abdomen is her go-to. This cape features her family crest embroidered in white. Her boots, a weapon named Caligula, are worn almost always - regardless of her attire.

Said uniform is solid black with blue accents, and is made of three primary pieces - a matching blazer and skirt, and a white, frilly blouse. Like most females that adhere to the dress code, Maisa wears a white petticoat beneath her skirt, which is ornately ruffled. She matches the attire with black dress shoes and dark, thigh-high stockings. Unlike most that take to wearing the uniform, Maisa does not sport the pale blue bow seen on some of her peers.

★ COMBAT NOTES
WEAPONS
SASHA: Maisa’s weapon of choice is a whip-sword she created during her first year at Vytal Academy. Named “Sasha” after her mother, the sword serves as both a close range and mid range weapon - and in some cases long range when used with Dust. Roughly three feet in length with a two and a half foot blade, Sasha is fitted with several notches along one side - similar in fashion to the teeth of a comb. These notches allow Maisa to catch most bladed weapons, giving her the leverage needed to perform effective counters and/or break her opponent’s weapon with a quick twist of the wrist if need be.
When in whip form, Sasha separates between the combs, leaving a six foot strand of razor sharp blades along the threading. Though the weapon can be extended beyond that - to a total of ten feet - Maisa has found that six serves as the perfect balance of reach and slashing power, and as such doesn’t usually go much further. Maisa is known for being exceptionally skilled with her weapon, utilizing it with her Semblance rather effectively in almost all combat scenarios.
CALIGULA: Though boots wouldn’t normally be seen as a weapon, Maisa’s boots - named Caligula - are an important part of her arsenal. The sole of the boots have Kinetic and Gravity Dust crystals embedded into them, allowing Maisa to achieve great speed beyond that of her normal peers. This is often used in combination with Fire and Energy Dust, carefully forming static afterimages to confuse her enemies. It is also thanks to Caligula that Maisa is able to reach the necessary speed to make her Semblance the effective weapon it has become.
Over time, the Dust in Caligula’s heels must be replaced, a costly and time consuming process. Because of this, Maisa tends to only use the Dust in small bursts or whenever absolutely necessary.
MISC.
Dust: Maisa carries several Dust crystals on her person, stored carefully in the pouches worn on her hip and thigh. She generally carries 3-4 crystals of each Primary Element, while also carrying 1-2 crystals of the combined elements. Overall, she gets about 6-8 uses per crystal before needing to rely on a new one.
Deus: Worn on her right forearm as an armored bracer, Deus is armed with Energy and Glass Dust that is used to generate a strong shield comparable to her Aura Defense barrier.

Her Aura is accompanied by the sweet smell of strawberries mixed with cream, with the feeling it gives off being that of a loving caress. At times, a gentle breeze will accompany the activation of her Aura, particularly when she activates her Semblance.
Maisa, as a Senior at Vytal Academy, is adept in the use of her Aura. In addition, her Aura is strong due to her dedicated training, helping to make up where her partner currently lacks. Maisa is capable of manifesting her Aura in the following abilities:
WHEEL OF TWILIGHT
By design, Maisa’s Semblance is relatively simple. Upon activation she gains a slight boost in speed, roughly 1.5x of her average peer. This can also be used in combination with Caligula’s speed buff properties, giving her even more of an edge - roughly 3x the speed her average peer demonstrates. Her Aura begins to glow white and blue, the colors twisting intimately like the colors of a flame, as she enters a spin with her weapon. What is left is not a person - but a wheel of chaotic energy with immense force, capable of cutting through most materials like a hot knife through a stick of butter.
Wheel of Twilight can also be augmented with Dust, taking on a host of elemental properties. Overall the attack remains the same, with each element type adding something different - something unique. With Fire Dust, the Wheel becomes super-heated, increasing the slashing power of the Semblance while also inflicting burns on her target and leaving a trail of flames. Attacks of this sort are not uncommon for Maisa to take advantage of, often times using them as the decisive move when in a combat scenario.
