Lily flinched slightly as Amber took the dress from her. She truly was out of her depth here. She had no clue what she was doing. She grew quiet as Amber spoke, deciding to go with whatever she decided on in the end.
The idea of greens browns and greys did excite her a little bit. She was rather fond of seeing herself adorned in the colors of her home. A vision of her in a meadow dancing through the wild flowers bare footed with a green vest and a brown undershirt, with a green skirt flowing in the breeze entered into her mind and she couldn't think the image a lovely one.
She snapped out of her stupor when Amber suggested the color blue. Her face instantly lit up, and she smiled. She thought the color would be quite a nice one on her as well.
The image that entered into her mind unbidden was one of Sol on his knees presenting the rose. Just as he stood up to sweep her off her feet Amber chimed in with "Is it because of a boy, perhaps?"
The softly defined pink her cheeks had taken on suddenly turned beet red and she fumbled for something to say.
How could she deny it?
She paused, rifling through her bag for a moment before taking out the small blue rose. It was still cold to the touch, a result of the dust woven in the fabrics.
"He gave me this, and I haven't been able to stop thinking about that moment since. I'd really like to figure out some outfit that matches it... If it's not too much trouble that is!" she said suddenly feeling very hot.
She still didn't understand her feelings when it came to boys, and she certainly had no clue how she felt about Sol. The boy was a complex creature, one she hadn't even begun to unravel. Still, that moment, where he'd presented the rose to her, she couldn't help but to feel her stomach doing back flips each time she'd relived that memory.
"His name is Soloman," she said bashfully, wanting to break the silence with something. "I uhh... I really don't know how I feel about him. It's not the same as I feel about most people I guess though." She looked away, hugging her arm against her side, the cold blue rose still clutched in her left hand.

THE PRINCESS + THE PARIAH ► amber + lily ◄
|
The Princess’s eyes remained fixed on her new friend like a hawk homing in on its prey, the corners of her lips curling up into an almost devious smirk. The light pink of Lily’s cheeks grew darker and darker, to such a point that they matched the redness of Amber’s face that night with Ferr. So it was a boy after all, eh? Amber snickered aloud, a quite snort escaping her nose as she fought a fleeting fit of laughter. Her body lurched slightly as she tried to suppress the snickering, her shoulders trembling as her hands covered her mouth. She couldn’t deny how undeniably adorable Lily’s reaction to her query had been.As soon as the Faunus girl produced the small blue rose from her bag, Amber’s hands immediately dropped from her face - as if a substantial amount of weight had suddenly been strapped to her wrists. She beamed at the small flower, clearly made from some material other than…well, what flowers were normally made of. Her eyes glistened like stars, her jaw hanging free at the sight of it. There was a part of her that, oddly enough, felt incredibly jealous. For all her time spent among Rift’s upper class, she had never been offered such a gift. It was, by all counts, beautiful. It was funny, to her, how even the simplest of things possessed the most allure.Having inched closer and closer to Lily to get a better look at the synthetic flower, Amber could almost feel heat radiating off the Freshman’s body. ”He gave me this, and I haven't been able to stop thinking about that moment since. I'd really like to figure out some outfit that matches it... If it's not too much trouble that is!" Amber nodded, almost appearing oblivious to Lily’s request, raising her right hand to give the girl an approving thumbs up. Her eyes snapped quickly to the Faunus girl, scanning her slowly from the tip of her black ears to her toes.A muffled “Mmmhmm!” puffed from her nose, and she quickly turned her back on the girl as her blue eyes floated through the store, doing her very best to find something that would meet these new specifications. Something to match the flower shouldn’t be hard to come by, given the popularity that came with the color blue - at least at home, anyway. Rift was full of blues of all sorts, and had they been there, Amber knew they would’ve had absolutely no trouble at all. Once more, Amber found herself reminiscing of home. The clear blue skies and flawless sapphire seas were among her fondest memories. The continent of Sanas itself was a marvel all its own, but Rift? By the gods, what Amber wouldn’t do to be home again - sometimes, anyway. "His name is Solomon," The reticent tone of Lily’s voice broke the silence that had finally fell between them. Amber’s back remained turned from the girl, though her head turned to the right, tilting back a little so her eyes could meet Lily’s once again. "I uhh... I really don't know how I feel about him. It's not the same as I feel about most people I guess though." With the blue flower clenched in her hand, the girl looked away as she hugged her arm against her side.To Amber, the feeling of her heart sinking was transitory at best, her brow furrowing just a bit as she flashed an addled smile in Lily’s direction. It was hard not to empathize at this point, especially over this - a feeling she was all too familiar with. It reminded the Princess of how she felt about Ferr, a Huntsman she had only just met. She supposed, however, that this was how some things were in the outside world. When afforded such kindness, especially from an unexpected source, it was hard to sort out the mess such a thing made of one’s mind. Amber could only sigh, turning to face Lily as she shook her head. She continued to approach slowly, doing her best not to make the Faunus girl feel too uncomfortable, before slowly wrapping her arms around her. Amber had often had her embraces described as warm and comforting, like being wrapped in a blanket fresh from a mechanical dryer. She patted Lily’s back gently, her smile becoming far more bright. “Well, Lily, I’ll tell you what…” The Princess began, pulling away from Lily swiftly before resting her hands upon the girl’s shoulders. “I promise you that I’ll do my very best to help find you a dress that matches that cute little flower of yours, sound good?”Her smile changed once again, her overall expression and energy becoming more upbeat than she had displayed previously. She seemed so sure of herself, so confident in her ability to uphold this promise. As she had done a few times already, Amber raised up her hand - this time her left - flashing a thumbs up with a wide, toothy grin. “Just follow me around, alrighty?” She ordered, a hint of fondness mixing with the bossiness in her tone of voice. “I’m sure we’ll find exactly what we need in no time at all!” As if following a cue, Amber spun around on her heel and stared down the rows of dresses before them. There was no force strong enough to contain the hype burning in the Princess’s chest.Reaching behind her, Amber grasped Lily by the wrist and proceeded to drag her through the store like a sack of yams. They passed isle after isle, sometimes pausing to take a look at a couple blue dresses along the way. Her eyes would pass between the gowns and Lily, scrutinizing every last detail with a crooked smile. With each stop, the Princess responded with a disapproving “Tch!” before tugging Lily along like a pet. Considering all her disapproval so far, there wasn’t the slightest bit of doubt - to Amber - that they would be successful. Whatever they bought for Lily on this trip had to be perfect.Just when it was beginning to seem like their excursion would be fruitless, Amber stopped dead in her tracks. Her grip on Lily’s hand tightened a bit, enough so to possibly cut off the flow of blood to her companions hand. Her jaw, similar to how it had been several minutes earlier, hung open - her eyes shining as her free hand slowly raised. With her index finger extended, Amber singled out a blue dress set in a beautiful display roughly twenty feet from where they stood. There it was.“Lily, look!” She cheered, throwing both of her hands - as well as the one belonging to Lily she held on to - into the air. “I think that one is PERFECT! How about you? Look at this magnificent work of art!” |

The wild girl couldn't help but to beam at Amber's promise. " If you're certain, then I trust you. I'm sure you'll find something amazing." Her face was flushed a slight red, she couldn't help but to feel a well of gratitude for the princess and her willingness to put up with her. She looked down at the black dress, ripped, tattered, and still caked with hardened rubber where Raven's boot had melted. It was a mess, nobody she'd seen since coming into civilization had worn anything even remotely as desecrated as her old and trusty dress had been. She would miss it, but it was time to join the rest of the people in society. It was time to blend, if only in this aspect. Lily was getting excited through osmosis as amber radiated ecstatic energy. She was dragged helplessly through the store as Amber moved from dress to dress in some sort of perfectionist frenzy to find Lily one that was exactly right. Lily herself tried on multiple occasions to stop and look at something she'd thought to be pretty herself, but was always dragged along by a very insistent Amber who was searching for something more. They went through row after row of beautiful high quality clothing, before Amber finally stopped, captivated by a dress that Lily had to admit, was absolutely stunning. The dress was various shades of blue, but the main body was a deep and beautiful navy. It was set with a lighter arctic ruffle at the bottom hem. There was a beautiful and fancy looking white pattern stitched just above the ruffle, that was repeated at the waist. Each sleeve was white, and left a small amount of room between the shoulder and the upper half of the dress to show off some skin. These sleeves were held in place by long dark blue ribbons that trailed down to the ground. The dress had a decorative white collar that had a blue bow in it's center, which was itself a shade of blue somewhere in between the pale blue of her hem and the darker blue that the majority of the fabric came with. The dress also seemed to include a bow that one might wear in their hair, as well as a pair of light blue socks and shoes with dark blue bows on the end. She thought the getup was entirely too much, and couldn't for an instant even imagine herself wearing the beautiful fabrics. " Th-That's a little much," Lily said, unable to tear her eyes away from the fabrics to look at amber properly. " We should find something more simple right?" She said biting her lower lip. " Besides, we don't even know if it fits, y'know? What if it's like the other one, that was too big?" The girl was totally unaware of the concept of fitting rooms or tailors who would be more than happy to ensure that a dress like this one fit exactly right. She reached a hand out and touched the silky soft fabric. It was unlike anything she'd ever felt before. " It's so soft," she finally said as she looked at Amber's beaming face for the first time since they'd found this perfect dress. " I mean... I can't possibly ask you for this one, but it's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. I... I didn't know that people could wear things like this. It almost doesn't seem real." She struggled internally, but finally turned away from the dress. " We should find something a little simpler. I like simple. C'mon you don't need to get me something so... well, so beautiful. We should find something that fits me better." The dress

Amber was, for lack of any better word, completely captivated by the appearance of the dress they had found. Her eyes remained fixated one it, the light blue orbs reflecting the darker hue that the outfit displayed, the white glistening like stars as it bounced off her pupils. It was stunning, to say the very least. Amber reluctantly pulled her eyes from it, as as it seemed she might literally begin drooling, and set her eyes back on Lily. In her mind, she put the Faunus girl in the dress, admiring the image that had wiggled its way into her thoughts. Oh, this one was perfect. The dress reminded her of home, of her father and mother - and in its own way Finn Cullen of the Knights of Rift. The dress had an assortment of blue hues, all of which were complimented nicely by the white that made up the sleeves and collar. Crossing her arms, Amber lightly tapped her right index finger against her chin as her right eyebrow perked up, her left eye closing as she focused on her friend. "Th-That's a little much.” Lily finally said, noticeably unable to shift her attention from the gown. Amber’s eye remained glued to the girl as the latter bit on her bottom lip before speaking again. "We should find something more simple right?"Amber responded by shaking her head, producing a loud ”Tsk, tsk, tsk!” as she stepped to the side. Lily reached towards the dress, touching the fabric after voicing concerns about it being too large. The Princess was proud of this find, and was happy it seemed to meet both of the young girls’ expectations. It was one she would spare no expense in delivering to her newest friend, if need be. "It's so soft." Lily commented, finally looking over to Amber. The Princess’s jubilant grin grew wider, and she too reached for the gown that was set before them. Just the feeling of it on her fingertips sent a warm tingle down her spine. It reminded her of her bed.Gods, was she ever starting to miss home."I mean... I can't possibly ask you for this one, but it's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. I... I didn't know that people could wear things like this. It almost doesn't seem real." The girl added, pulling Amber abruptly from her reminiscing. As the Faunus girl turned from the dress, Amber felt her heart drop, struggling to find the right words to protest. "We should find something a little simpler. I like simple. C'mon you don't need to get me something so... well, so beautiful. We should find something that fits me better." The Princess responded, initially, with galimatias mumbling. She reached out with her right hand, grabbing Lily by her left wrist. “Absolutely not, Lily!” She objected, squeezing the girl’s wrist gently. “This is the one, you know? We can’t pass this up! Not at all!” Amber’s eyes then moved frantically about the store, trying to find an employee that might be able to assist them better. An older woman wearing a name tag, probably ten years Amber’s senior, caught her eye. “Excuse me, ma’am?” Amber shouted, her voice carrying over the obnoxiousness that already consumed the store. “Can you help my friend and I, please?” The woman looked over at the pair, a little confused at first, before setting down whatever she had been working on and moving to their location.“What can I help you young ladies with today?” The woman, named Margaret as indicated by her name tag, inquired. Amber raised her left hand, pointing directly at the dress the pair had just found. “My friend here would like to try this dress on, if that’s not a bother.” Amber declared with a proud smirk. “We’ll wanna get her measurements too, that way we can have it sized. We’re almost certain this is what we’ll be getting today.” Margaret nodded, removing the dress from its display and motioning the two towards the dressing rooms. “It’ll be in Room 5, whenever you’re ready.” She said, handing Amber a small keycard. “It’ll be locked up because the dress is rather spendy, so use this to get in, okay?”Amber nodded as the woman excused herself, turning to Lily with a goofy smile. “Oh my god, Lily. I am way too excited for this, you know that?” She said with an added giggle. “Just occurred to me, though, that I haven’t found a dress for myself.” Pausing for a moment, Amber looked around the store once more before her eyes finally settled back on Lily. “Care to help a friend out?” She asked, giggling nervously. “Fair’s fair, right? I scratch your back, you scratch mine - as they say? You can help me look now!” Purples and blues were in Amber’s mind, though she was taking exception to the former. They were gonna turn heads, for sure. Amber was positive of that. |

----- Never stop Running ----- tag: --- // words: --- // notes: --- Lily's heart was pounding in her chest. Amber was insisting on that dress, so what could Lily do to change her mind? To make her see that something so fine didn't belong on some ragged girl from the wilds? She was stunned speechless as the woman who came to help took the dress away to be prepared in the fitting room. Lily couldn't help but feel as if the woman, Margaret, had been looking down her nose at Lily. She gave no outward signs of it, but just the fact that someone like Lily could even be in this store, dirty, shoeless, and wearing tattered and nasty clothing like her own, it didn't seem proper. She couldn't help but notice that in the sea of people that had been flowing all around her since she'd arrived at Vytal, not a single one of them dressed like she did.
She had never felt the shame about that until now.
She had been content to go her own way, and do her own thing. Most people avoided her, or hadn't drawn attention to her style of dress. Even so, she still couldn't help but notice that she was different from each and every person they met. It never bothered her so much, or made her feel quite so inadequate as it was in this moment. The embarrassment of being told she wasn't allowed to get food at the curry store, the occasional glances of disgust or mild humor that were shot her way, they all made sense now.
She tried not to focus on how she was feeling. Afterall, she'd be able to retire this ratty old dress soon enough right? She looked down at what she was wearing, the dress her mother had made for her. She wished that she didn't have to let it go, but she had worn it for years. She'd outgrown it. It was a few sizes too small on her, and torn up to all hell.
She sighed, before turning to amber. Just in time to see the look in her eyes. The look that Amber graced Lily with wasn't one of disgust, humor, or superiority. No, she saw Lily as simply a friend who was out shopping with her. She looked at Lily the way a friend might look at another. It was comfortable, and it made all of the negative emotion she'd just been struggling with evaporate on the spot. She smiled and said "Yeah, fairs fair. I will help you out gladly."
She then cracked her knuckles. The little faunus girl had no idea what was proper etiquette while in a store like this, nor did she recognize that what she was about to do was completely out of place. Still. She planted herself in front of a shelf, and activated her semblance.
She went through each and every dress on the rack in front of her and tried to picture how it would look on the princess. It was not easy, she had trouble figuring out what would look good on her or not. Some things were obvious. A lime green dress just simply didn't seem to fit, whereas a beautiful blue evening gown looked like it would look pretty nice on her. She had no idea what she was basing these assumptions on, but she had a firm image in her mind of what would, and would not look good on Amber.
Each time she had to move to see a different shelf, Lily would have to drop her semblance for a short while to traverse the space between them. She was awful at moving and then stopping again while in her semblance form. It wasn't exactly impossible, but she definitely needed to get better with her semblance before that was a possibility. All in all, it took about seven shifts between semblance and normal before she found herself staring a a beautiful dress that would fit Amber perfectly.
However, it's compatibility was not the reason she had paused on on this dress specifically. No, in fact she'd already seen several that would fit the princess exceptionally well. This one in particular was a lovely dress. It was a dark purple evening gown, which would go great with the princesses light pinkish, purple hair. There was a white section in the middle that slowly faded to blue on the bottom hem, the gradient being more extreme nearest the bottom.
What had caught Lily's attention though, was not the beauty of the dress, nor the colors, that would match Amber so well. No, her attention was focused on the collar, and the wrist accessories. The collar was the same dark purple shade that made up the bulk of the dress. Thin strips of fabric connected the neck to the wrists, which were cuffed. This had a gradient that ran from blue to purple. Lily couldn't deny that it was beautiful. It took her breath away. However, the thought of the princess wearing it froze her. She wasn't thinking about the dress, nor the shop. Lily's mind was a million miles, and about a year and a half away.
She saw chain gangs filled with women. She heard women screaming, some in ecstasy, others in agony. She saw the collars around their throats, and the chains around their wrists, and couldn't help but recall the several times that these people had tried to add Lily to their number. She saw their leader, striding through their camp like nothing could touch him. She had been watching from a tree on the outskirts of their camp for six days. She'd carried with her enough meat to last for a full week, and water enough to sustain her for that week as well, so long as she rationed properly. He had finally strayed into her path. The one line that ran clear from her tree to the opposite side of camp without any obstruction.
Her hands were red, her pulse had quickened, and the man who had tried to add her to their number had collapsed six hundred feet behind her without so much as a look of surprise crossing his face. His throat had exploded from his neck, which was snapped and hanging ad an odd angle as he collapsed. Lily turned, waited for the white streak of light that marked her wake to die down, and shouted into the camp. "Let this be a lesson! You will never catch me, and should you try this will always happen again, and again. Leave me in peace!"
She turned, and fled away, before the first slaver could even ready their bow. Leaving nothing but a corpse, and rumors of the white death in her wake.
She held the dress, wordlessly, hands trembling slightly as she recounted the memory. That man was one of the six who'd deserved their death. Lily felt no remorse, but still the sensation of blood dripping from her fingertips was one that was permanently etched into her mind.

THE PRINCESS + THE PARIAH ► amber + lily ◄
|
Part of her was nervous, afraid Lily might not share her enthusiasm for what remained of their shopping trip. Back at home, she had very few friends - if she’d even call the people she spent time with “friends” to begin with. When she was younger, there was Kalula, but the princess hadn’t heard from the Faunus girl since she left. There were times she missed her, and other times not. Still, the memory of the one who gave Amber that initial push to do her own thing remained with her, taking the form of the blue ribbon she wore in her hair. It was a gift, from friend to friend, and a promise that the two would - perhaps - cross paths again. As she reminisced - waiting for Lily to respond to her request - Amber slowly raised her hand and seized the end of the blue ribbon. It was still so soft to the touch, moreso than the finest linens sold back home. To this very day, Amber had never thought to inquire as to its origins, and as she stood there she realized that she didn’t much care to find out. The past was a difficult thing to let go of, especially when it gets so ingrained in who a person is. To Amber, her past was like a wound - deep and gaping, like one delivered in the heat of battle. She had seen many injured warriors in her lifetime, far more than a girl her age at the time had any business seeing.Despite this, Amber knew there were people - people like Lily - that likely experienced so much more than that. She couldn’t begin to imagine life outside the Kingdoms, nor the perils her new friend likely faced while she was out there all alone. Part of her wondered if, like her, Lily was running away from the past. Amber hope that, as the evening progressed and their friendship grew, she could learn about such a life. In the meantime, she had to work on herself - and the first step would be to get rid of that last bit of home. Just as Lily finally answered her request for assistance, agreeing to help, Amber’s hand dropped down to her side - pulling the ribbon free. Her hair, which had been cut to shoulder length prior to running away and once flowed to her heels, flowed to just below her shoulder blades. Flashing a smile of her own in response to Lily’s, Amber nodded happily. “I was really hoping you’d say that, Lily!” She replied, giggling quietly as she rolled the ribbon up in her hands. Amber was, for lack of any better word, completely elated by the prospect of getting dressed up. Memories of the small balls her parents held for Rift’s nobility rushed through her mind, drawing Amber’s attention away for only a split second before the cracking of Lily’s knuckles sucked her back to the center of the store.Though she had prepared herself to follow her friend around the store, the sudden activation of Lily’s Semblance - and her sudden disappearance subsequent to such - stopped the princess dead in her tracks. Her jaw hung with a slight opening as she did her best to follow Lily with her eyes to no avail, instead opting to remain in place and consider what it was her Faunus friend might be looking for. Once again she thought of Kalula, and of home, her blue eyes staring off into nothingness as the world around her went white. It had never occurred to her before that she kept referring to Lily as her Faunus friend, at least in her mind. A heaviness in her chest caused Amber’s gaze to point down, albeit only a little. How divisive she felt, and how foolish. Lily was her friend - and just that. There was no need for her to latch onto the fact that the girl - despite her cat ears - was a Faunus. She was just as alive and human as Amber was, right? With a loud sigh, one mixed of frustration and relief, a smile once again formed across Amber’s slightly tanned features. In all the madness that was her thoughts, she didn’t notice Lily had taken pause - stopping in front of what Amber presumed was a dress. She shuffled off to meet her, anxiously biting her bottom lip as she approached from behind. Upon seeing it, the dress Lily had finally stopped dashing around with her Semblance at, Amber felt her heart flutter. It was beautiful beyond words, at least to her. However, Amber was far less taken by the dress - her attention instead on her friend, who seemed almost catatonic as she stared at it. Raising her right hand slowly, Amber carefully rested it upon Lily’s left shoulder, adding a very slight jerk to try to snap her out of it. “Hey, Lily? Are you okay?” Amber inquired, her voice quiet and full of worry. “Come back to me! Hey! Lily?” She called again and again, the slight jerks becoming more defined as she tried to pull Lily out of whatever sapped her away from the then and now. Hopefully it wasn’t anything too serious. Hopefully her new friend would be okay. They were just memories…Right? |

----- Never stop Running ----- tag: --- // words: --- // notes: --- Lily heard Amber's voice as a distant echo, somewhere far away. Her vision was full of horrors she'd seen. Amber's insistent tugging and her cries for Lily to return did eventually work. When the memories faded and she found herself hanging on to the dress with Amber tugging at her, she jumped six feet into the air and landed some half dozen feet away. Her heart was racing, her breathing fast. She looked wild, looking at every person in the store as a threat. Her eyes were wild, the girl was showing every sign of her feral history in that moment.
When they finally fell on amber again, she looked confused and but slowly seemed to calm down. It was then that she noticed her claws were out, and raised in defense. People were staring. Had been, ever since she started using her semblance to check out clothes. She realized how she had made a spectacle of herself and the princess, and that her stupid flashback had set everybody on edge. She wanted to run, wanted to flee this store, and this school and run back to the wilds where she knew how things worked. Where every little detail didn't set her off. Instead, she walked somberly back to Amber's side.
"I'm.. I'm sorry, I am not so great at this." She said in way of explanation, and apology. "I thought I could handle it. I've been getting better y'know? I just..." She paused, and looked at all the eyes that were still on them. She fidgeted nervously where she stood. "I just don't know how not to be like this. Every little thing spooks me, and I can't get over myself long enough to see what I'm doing to the people around me until it's too late." That last sentence had some heavy connotation that someone unfamiliar with Lily's history may not get at first, but it was easy to see she wasn't just talking about here, and now.
She realized that this wasn't the place, nor the time, in a moment of uncharacteristic social awareness and said "Maybe we should talk more about this later, somewhere else... We should try on our dresses for now though. Uhm... Can you help me with mine? I haven't ever worn something so fancy before, and I don't wanna break it when I try to put it on." She nodded her head towards the changing rooms, where she'd seen the assistant lady heading with the first dress.

{ } Amber continued shaking her friend, begging her - no, pleading her - to snap out of her stupor. “Lily! Lily please!” She cried, her grip on the young girl’s shoulder growing tighter with each jerk. She had grown so involved in helping Lily come to that she hadn’t taken notice to Lily grabbing onto the dress, though in hindsight it was inconsequential. Finally seeing the light, to some degree, return to Lily’s eyes eased Amber’s worry, and the Princess responded with a soft sigh as she hung her head momentarily. That said, their problems were far from over. While Lily had finally wrenched herself free of whatever had taken hold of her for those moments, there was a peculiar look about the Faunus girl. It was something untamed, something wild - something…Feral…Lily jumped back, getting quite a bit of air and making considerable distance given their surroundings. The other patrons of the shop had set their eyes on her long before this, around the time she had started whipping through the store using her Semblance. Those white flashes, after all, were hard to ignore. Amber, as was becoming a habit with her new friend, couldn’t begin to imagine how having all those prying eyes on her might have felt. Whenever she was getting this sort of attention, it generally carried positive connotations. Lily, however, seemed to be the spectacle of the evening - and Amber worried she’d make an outcast of herself if this all persisted. Her bright eyes narrowed as she stared down her new friend, scrutinizing every little detail about the girl as she stood there as if prepared for something. The look in the Faunus gunmetal gray eyes as Amber met them with her own ocean blue orbs said it all. Her instinct, her wild nature, had taken over. Lily had gone completely feral. Murmurings between some of the patrons made Amber scowl in their direction, the first instance of negativity to show on the Princess’s face since confronting the group of students trying to get a rise out of the younger girl. “Stop it! Stop talking about her!” Amber snapped, her voice decreasing in volume into a low growl. “How would you like it, huh? How?” The people she had lost her temper with, a middle aged couple, looked away out of embarrassment. Their faces reddened as eyes shifted from the Faunus to them, and silence fell over the shop for what felt like an eternity before life returned as usual.Lily, in this time, had calmed down and moved back to Amber’s side. The Princess had been so caught up in scolding the patrons she had hardly noticed, but once she had a second to calm her nerves she gave Lily a pat on the shoulder. "I'm.. I'm sorry, I am not so great at this." The girl began to apologize. "I thought I could handle it. I've been getting better y'know? I just..." In Lily’s pause, Amber too noticed that eyes were upon them once again. Amber, again, snarled at the eyes settling on the Faunus girl. “Hey!” She snapped again, gritting her teeth threateningly. “I said fuck off!” The language was unbecoming of someone holding Amber’s title, but in her time away from home - in her time living among the public, and briefly in the wild - Amber had soaked up some of the language of the common folk. The eyes left them again, Amber’s face reddening at her unintended display of anger and vulgarity. "I just don't know how not to be like this. Every little thing spooks me, and I can't get over myself long enough to see what I'm doing to the people around me until it's too late." Lily added, with Amber responding with an empathetic nod. Life in the wilds, even for the brief time she spent there, was difficult. She had grown nervous of new things, especially things that were loud. In fact, all that time away from people did - in some cases - make Amber feel a little out of place in public. That said, she didn’t know what Lily had been through, and she didn’t see it as her place to ask. At least not now, anyway. There would come a time and a place, hopefully, where the two could talk about whatever darkness plagued Lily’s young mind. There were more important things to worry about for now, though.Like their trip!"We should try on our dresses for now though. Uhm... Can you help me with mine? I haven't ever worn something so fancy before, and I don't wanna break it when I try to put it on." The sound of Lily’s voice pried Amber free of her reminiscence, the Princess shaking her head in a rapid motion and staring at her friend with rapid blinking eyes. The Faunus girl nodded in the direction of the dressing rooms, the exact direction the woman had gone with the dress they had selected for her. With a wide smile, Amber nodded, snatching the dress in front of them off the stand and looping her free arm around Lily’s. “Of course I’ll help you out!” Amber chimed happily, tugging Lily towards the dressing room with a slight spring in her step.Once they arrived at their destination, Amber set her dress upon a hook, pausing for a moment to observe herself in a nearby mirror. It had been a long time since she had taken a moment to check herself out, especially since Setek. Before leaving home the Princess had been quite pale, but her time traveling through the continent of Sanus - especially though the deserts of the western Kingdom - had resulted in her developing a somewhat attractive tan. She stood straight, gently tapping her right index finger against her lips as she thought, then spun on her heel to turn back to Lily. “Alright, Lily! Let’s get this show on the road, eh?” She said with an excited grin, quickly rushing the girl into the free changing room.Amber promptly locked the door behind them, ensuring no one would interrupt this new experience for her new friend. Trying on dresses could be a stressful endeavor, Amber knew that first hand, and Lily had dealt with enough already. The changing room was red - dark red - with darker red stripes. It was probably just barely big enough for the two of them, likely a handicap changing room for extra space. Across from the door hung Lily’s dress of choice, with the wall directly to the right of the door sporting a bench - and across from that a full body mirror. Amber strolled casually to the bench, plopping down with a squeaky huff as she stared back up at Lily with a smile.“Okay, Lily,” she said, doing her best not to break out into a bit of giggling. “Time for you to disrobe!”

----- Never stop Running ----- tag: --- // words: --- // notes: --- The look on Lily's face when Amber told those people to fuck off was hard to describe. She couldn't believe she'd heard such a word come out of the princesses' mouth. It was naughty, and were Lily's mother present, she'd scold the young princess harshly. She recalled when Lily's father had sworn like that a few times. The tongue lashing he would receive were things of legend. She found herself flashing Amber a conspiratorial smile before her face had grew somber again and she completed her explanation of her behavior.
Lily felt relief when Amber began pushing her towards the dressing rooms. Soon they would get to go into one of those little stalls and be out of the gaze of the rest of the patrons of the store. It wasn't long before the two of them were in the small red room, and Amber was encouraging Lily to disrobe.
The fact that the two girls entered into the dressing room together was enough to garner yet more attention, but none seemed to deem it inappropriate enough to come knock, or if they had they were delaying for some reason or another. Lily felt nervous. Butterflies fluttered around in her stomach as she realized what would come next. With Amber standing behind Lily, and the fully sized mirror in front of her, Lily would have no way to hide her scar. She gulped a few times, before nodding sheepishly.
"O-Of course, that makes sense. First though, I wanna say thanks. I am totally lost in a setting like this. I don't know how to deal with people, and if you hadn't said something there, I dunno what would have happened to me." She crossed her arms uncertainly across her chest, before she remembered the exact method the princess had used to scold the other people. "But next time don't..." She looked apprehensive for a second, before whispering "Don't use swears. They only ever make things worse. That's what mom always said." She paused for a second as ghosts from the past tried once more to haunt Lily. She managed to head them off and remain anchored in the present though. "I uhh... guess I gotta do this now huh?" She said nervously as she slid one arm out of the two-sizes-two-small dress that she wore normally. After a short struggle, in which Lily was only able to extricate her arm due to existing rips and tears that made the fabric slightly looser in certain areas, Lily had exposed her left shoulder to the cool air of the changing room. She could feel Amber's eyes on her, and couldn't help but to feel nervousness building as she freed her second arm. After both were free, she shimmied the dress down a bit. At this point, it was only covering her breasts by a hair. That did not last for long.
Rather than show the embarrassment that one might expect of a girl when their breasts were on display, Lily seemed unphased. Instead, she seemed to grow increasingly nervous as her dress fell from her form slowly. The massive scar that was revealed was entirely impossible to hide. Whether Amber looked at the girl's form from behind, and saw it emblazoned across her back, or whether she looked at it head on from the mirror and saw it from Lily's front, it was a scar that totally dominated the greater part of her torso. Starting just below Lily's sternum on the front, and roughly halfway down her back, it stretched two feet down, and one foot wide on either side. she curled her two arms over the scar on her front. She looked down at her feet, shifting uncomfortably back and forth from her left foot and her right foot.
"So.. uhh.. yeah. How do we go about this anyway?" She asked, trying to ignore the elephant in the room, and totally oblivious to any expectation Amber may have had that Lily wore undergarments. Several years prior, she had possessed a set, but over the past three years she'd outgrown them with such rapidity that continuing to wear them hindered her movement, and made themselves a liability.
