"Let's kick it up a notch. Party till you drop!"
★ APPEARANCE
Cali stands about 5'5", a lean but slightly athletic build to compliment the height. Her eyes, usually hidden behind a pair of shades or goggles, are magenta, not quite red, but not purple either. Her hair is a short mane, the colors mix of blues ranging from royal to teal, splayed over her face wild and free. Down the curve of her white-skinned form at the juncture of back and butt lies a long equine tail splayed in the same colors as the hair on her head. And she is decked out in accessories to accent her style. Musical notes on a silver chain necklace, a thin black collar, and several bands and chains along her arms and clothing give off a great clue as to her personality. Her signature headset/glasses looks remains the same, though she swaps out for some awesome goggles when on the road.
Clothing is pretty casual, even when she's teaching. When working the turntables at the club or walking around town she wears tank tops, jeans, and her signature accessories, though for special events at her part-time job she throws on some snazzier clothing, depending on the situation. When being a good member of staff at Vytal, she wears a formal outfit amended to suit her. Buttons left open, refusing to stop wearing her headphones and glasses, and probably shows too much leg with the skirt, but there's more than one way to draw an audience.

★ PERSONALITY
★ HISTORY
Born as Serenity Inuai from Rift, the girl who would become famous for her art and music, though if you ask her they're the same thing experienced with a different sense. Her father was a civilian who owned a music store while her mother was a Huntress. During one of the festivals, they met and ended up getting married two years later. They had Serenity, but considering her mother was still young, she was brought up mostly by her father, as her mother had to work away from home. Honestly, it was probably the worst thing that could have happened, as her dad never did like the danger his wife put herself through. He couldn't appreciate the level of safety he took for granted because o f her, and only realized it later on when she was found dead in the lair of a Deathstalker.
So little Serenity was taught to mind the music store, though that would never be enough for the faunus girl who spent so much time around music that it only made her want to get out and experience even more. Despite defying her father at the time, she left home at a fairly early age, showing up again when she applied to join Vytal academy. While at the time she had no weapon of her own, her skill with Aura and her Semblance was so well developed that she passed her classes anyways, learning to make exceptions to weapon use without the need to design her own. During her time at school, she took up her free time by becoming a deejay at the local club, taking the stage name that most people now know her by: Calypso.
Eventually, during her Senior year, she taught herself how to make her own weapons, though no simple gun or sword would really match her style. When she graduated, she was so happy to have honed her skills that she applied immediately to teach at Vytel. She agreed to teach multiple subjects at first, merely spreading her view of Aura and art to future generations. Though young, she thrives in being the center of attention, either when on stage or in the classroom.
★ COMBAT NOTES
WEAPONS
Pandora
A name given to her weapon after using it to quell a riot. During her first mission with an experienced Huntsman in Vytal, they were sent to stop a group of faunus protesting a human concert held near a faunus settlement. Unable to stop the protest and following riot with force, Calypso stepped onstage and calmed the entire area with her music, bringing two groups together to enjoy art together without bloodshed at all. At the time, Pandora was a prototype made for a selfish purpose, but it turned into a tool to use to help people.
The main "trigger" lies in a set of Control Discs, or CDs, made using hardened Dust manipulators and control modules made into disc shapes. By themselves, they can spin up some very powerful effects. The manipulators are gull of liquid Gravity dust, fed by a replaceable Kinetic Dust crystal clip in the Pandora weapon that is subjected to sublimation with powered Energy dust released from the Disc itself, the act of spinning as the two combine breaking both down into a liquid-like state that is able to transfer sound and power through itself. The remaining dust is ionized and vented, causing the CD's ring to glow white. There are two CD's on Pandora in its passive form
It's "ranged" form looks like a boombox, light enough to carry easily or place on the user's hip, but big enough to allow for it to be used as a club. It's purpose as a BOOMbox, however, is definitely more important, and that comes in several forms. The device works like it should, playing music, but when activated use the CD's encircling the audio amplifiers to push sound waves. Volume, pitch, and bass change how the sound wave works, though usually it's all determined by the music. With her usual beats though, the sound waves created by her device put a pressurized, crushing force on anyone in its way, grinding bones and organs to mulch with sustained exposure. It should be noted that the waves are visible to the human eye.
Of course, if she simply left her offense up to sound, she'd be easy to counter. At the egging of classmates, she fashioned the boombox mode with a secondary fire function. This modification turned a simple musical device into a launcher capable of firing a variety of munitions, from grenades to rockets and even Dust crystals or canisters., all loaded through the tape deck of the box when it is extended into launcher mode. This mode has the added effect of revealing another two CDs that control the internal sound buffering in its boombox mode, making the total four.
The "melee" function actually came to her in a dream, and is not so much a weapon as it is armor. The box breaks apart, scanning the user's current clothing and configuring itself to fit snugly onto said clothing and appear like a seamless natural addition. Additional amplifiers are revealed, fitting in key places to provide the most sound coverage. holo-lenses are inserted around the amplifiers between the CD rings, turning photons into anything from simple light to entire shows. This form, while not providing any defensive value, serves as a mobile sound platform as powerful as any large stage. It is the reason the weapon has its name, and is fully equipped to interact with her music as well as her semblance. Not only that, but any Aura abilities she normally uses can be radiated through the music and affect allies in an area around her as a sort of AoE buff, but costs extra Aura to do so, obviously. In this form, an extra two CDs are revealed, making the total six
MISC.
Most notably are her glasses and earphones. Both are specially made for her and her job, though have an extra function most don't know about. The glasses are tinted and completely shield her eyes when worn, helping when performing light shows and constantly beaming intense light. As such, they're particularly good at guarding against sudden bright flashes of light in combat. However, considering the nature of clubs, they are also equipped with low-light vision amplification.
Her headphones are wireless, charged through an internally kept cable when not in use that plugs into her weapon, and project music played through any device connected to it directly to her, including music played by her personally. What they don't immediately reveal is that they have a layer of soundproofing built in to deter sudden, intense bursts of sound outside the cusp of the earphones, meaning when worn they are good at guarding against loud noises. The earphones have a hidden function as well though. They may be inverted, and act as amplifiers and holo-lenses just like Pandora, meaning at full capacity, she has eight CDs controlling her entire rig.
Thirdly, something she calls her "Special Cocktail" is is actually a composition of dust and her tail hairs when they fall out or plucked. Packaged as a coat of glitter or grenade for AoE fun, the concoction reacts with the rainbow hue of her tail hairs and helps her to extend color to any light constructs she's controlling, even ones on her body, or the rig itself. It certainly makes light shows more appealing, and throwing it into the crowd or the air gives several posts of enhanced light control in a bigger area around herself or wherever she threw the dust.
Lastly, but certainly most important, is her Songs and Playlists. Music by itself is powerful, but it takes a collection of sounds put into order and syncronized in order to make things happen. A Song is a carefully developed musical masterpiece, where the frequency, wavelength, and power are fused into music and allow Calypso to do some crazy stuff. Each Song has a Volume and Duration, with Volume being how powerful the ability of the song is AND how much Aura it costs to use and the Duration being how long the effects last. Every song, and thus every set of effects Calypso can create, have to be apped and approved by a staff member like an item using the template at the bottom of this character app. Ending the Song before its Duration is up for any reason has a consequence to the effect, which is also listed in the song when apping it. A playlist is a set of songs, and are apped with the same template as a Song, but usually have longer Durations and better effects, but higher consequences for the Playlist being interrupted.
Her aura is unique in that is doesn't have a primary color or feeling to it. It is based on her mood, her music, and her ability to drive others with her music. Think of it as a specialized mood ring. Though it begins white (which isn't a color, but an absence of color), it can literally end up being any color of the spectrum, each indicating something different. Her aura is very visible when in use, and "pulses" to whatever music Calypso is emanating at the time, especially if it is one of her own songs. The more emotionally attached she is to it, the more powerful her Aura pulses and fluctuates. It is this absolute control she has over her aura that causes her to be so good at finding and unlocking other's Auras, perhaps even discovering their Semblance, simply by introducing sound to them with her own Aura and sending it through their body. It was the first thing she learned to do when out on her own, refined by school, and mastered by a well-educated girl applying to be a teacher at Vytal.
Hypersonic Fantasia
This is what makes Calypso unique the absolute, ultimate symbol of her soul expressing itself. Her Semblance is a dual mix of sound design and light show, the show and the beat, light and dark in some ways. Her power allows her to redirect or manipulate sound, but that's being modest. Anyone can do that with a boom box. This Semblance takes it to eleven literally by inducing certain emotions or empowering/depowering people by sheer soundwave frequency and pitch. The simplest form of the power is a support role, allowing the user to buff or debuff her allies or enemies within Thirty(30) Feet. The more "power" put into the music and wavelengths, the more physical the effects get, until people can actually feel the sound hitting them like a truck, or find it that much harder to resist the urge to dance! At the highest levels, this allows Cali to set the "mood" of a battle through constant impulse, meaning the more a person does as the music demands, the better they feel, and the more they resist the worse it gets, like a Chinese finger trap for the body. Of course, people with hearing protection or deaf people are not as effected by the smaller wavelengths, but can still be affected at half strength by the larger ones because the sound becomes a semi-physical entity. The more Cali tries to do, however, the less capable she becomes in combat, until she's standing in one spot manipulating the music, and moving removes any effects it had.
Through use of her rig and special dust mixture though, Calypso can take it a step further than that, forcing light to bend around her soundwaves and constructing the equivalent of hardlight objects through her music. These constructs are usually extremely fluid though, depending on the music, and can do anything from create weapons to wrapping her allies in armor, shielding her while she Deejays, or making entire scenes. The higher the creation, the more costly and, again, the less mobile she becomes.
The Semblance has two modes. Freestyle allows Calypso to move and attack normally, but limits her to only affecting herself with her powers. DJ Mode begins to lock Calypso down into the music, but allows her to concentrate her abilities to affects others as well. Both versions require a Song or Playlist in order to function, and the cost of each varies based on the Volume and Mode she's currently in. Freestyling requires five(5) Aura per turn, where Deejaying it up requires Ten(10. This is on top of the cost of using the Song or Playlist.
