She listened to what he had to say, and continued waiting afterwards for a period. It seemed almost as if he had more to it, but never finished his thought. She gave an almost imperceptible shrug, and decided to speak again once she was certain that he had indeed finished all that he was going to say.
"Sure, it'd be nice to continue where they left off, and I'm guessing there are always people doing that, but for my part, and this may be because I'm really only starting on this path, I just want to learn some stuff that'll be useful to me down the line, or some stuff that will give my brain something to enjoy. I've been reading all I can read about the Kingdoms and their history, and that does both. It's fascinating to learn about the stuff that's happened to these separate kingdoms, but it's also knowledge that I might be using in the not too distant future. Astronomy would definitely fall into the second category. It's something I'd love to spend time reading about, and will, but I doubt if the information will ever actually be relevant to me." She paused for a few moments, thinking more on this. She wondered what would drive a man to study something that can't ever truly be used out in the world. I guess there were lots of reasons, but if the kingdoms were as safe as they seemed to be, it wasn't a question of why, it was more a question of why not. If they aren't struggling to not die every day, then it makes sense that they'd have time to spend on things other than survival.
"Where I'm from, there aren't computers, or books. We do have a few scrolls, but most of our knowledge is passed down through stories. We learn about the past events that matter, but I think every generation changes the story just a little bit. I never believed any word at any rate. Like this though... You'd be able to go back and read... well, lots of years into the past. First hand accounts, not just stories swapped after getting drunk around a capmpfire. Not exactly the best way to make sure that your stories are real." She said flipping through a few more pages of history. Wondering how far back exactly some of these accounts go.

The young fighter took note of how insightful the feline before him seemed to be, however the latter part of her intermission is what threw him off guard. No computers or books? Really? The thought of that is really weird, Chrohn thought as he started to bite his lip subconsciously. It's a strange occurrence, maybe there are some towns out there that aren't exactly up to stuff nowadays, but still, not even a single book? That's kinda strange, I mean I'm not too terribly keen on reading, but still; relying on oral stuff doesn't seem to be very effective. What if the...uh...I guess story teller or whatever forgot the words, or died. All that information would just be gone, right?
His next question came out wavering, as if he didn't really know what to ask or how to ask it, "So what about dust? From what I understand, that's been around for a while in all sorts of cultures all over the world? Did wherever you come from have that at least?" It was an honest and genuine question, seeing as Chrohn was still getting over how Lily had come from a place with almost seemingly no modern technology. If the question had come out rude, it wasn't Chrohn's intention, but that would simply be something that would be fixed upon a potential retaliation one could suppose.

She paused thinking about the question for a moment. After a time, she nodded. "There was dust, but by the time I'd... left... I hadn't ever gotten to mess with it." She said, being intentionally cryptic. "It was a rare resource, only the warriors had access, and only those trained in the martial arts were really taught anything about it. I didn't learn how to fight until later, so I never really got to mess with it, or learn much about it." She said a bit passively. She had a fleeting interest in the stuff, and it was actually next on her list of things to study up on, but she'd always fought well enough without it. She wasn't too terribly fond of being reliant on a resource that could run out mid-battle. It was ignorant of her, but she was proud. She wanted to rely on her own skills above all else. The concept that hunters and huntresses used every tool at their disposal to accomplish their goals was still new to her. Perhaps as she matured as a student and a huntress she might come to see the value of a dust augmented fighting style, but for right now she didn't think it was needed.
"I will admit, I am curious about how, or rather, why it works. It seems counter intuitive that the elements can be made physical in such a way." She thought of the various weapons she'd seen so far using dust, and the destructive elemental powers they wielded, and wondered just how potent dust could be in high enough quantities. She would have to consider a lot more when fighting dust wielding opponents if she wanted to stay ahead of the game.

Lily's home town seemed to be quite quaint. And then she made mention of how it way made. "oh what, you didn't know. A lot of the dust is found physically in crystal forms. That's how we have so many dust types, through careful....I guess you could call it....'cross breeding'. So we have a lot of different types of dust." Chrohn wasn't really sure about the process, but he did know that's how two of his primary dusts were made. Regrettably he didn't know the process himself, but if he did, it was sure to save plenty of money....maybe.
"So yeah, it isn't really that people physically made the dust to be used physically, we as people just used technology to refine what was already there, and synthesize what wasn't. And I guess from there, we just used more and more science to modify it into all the different forms we have access to today. Given, my mind is kinda foggy on some of the other most advanced or complicated forms and types. Now given, I'm not the best person to talk to on the subject, as my use of the stuff is fairly lacking compared to others." Here he shrugged. Lily seemed nice to talk to but the young warrior was running out of topics to talk about.

Lily nodded at Chrohns explanation of the dust, but said "If it's all the same, I'll do my own personal research on top of that as well. It's not that I don't trust your version, I just... I just wanna see everything I can learn about this stuff for myself. I actually have a lot of stuff I'm looking up." She dropped her eyes, and her voice took on a conspiratorial tone "I'm going to try to figure out how to design a weapon for myself too. So many people here have really cool ones, and I'd like to get a neat weapon for myself." She said her face lighting up like, giddy with the thought of equipping herself. "Truth be told, I don't really know where to start, but I figured dust would be a good enough place. Any tips on what else to look into?" She asked, wondering if he'd designed his own weapon, or if he had someone do that for him.
She looked around at all of the books, and thought there were surely a couple that detailed the information she needed. In her mind though, she thought that all of the universe might be found in these books. She couldn't imagine that with this much knowledge, man had anything left to learn. She just knew that if she spent enough time here, she could find the knowledge that she sought.
Whether or not she could use it properly was a different matter entirely. But she should be able to at least come up with a concept that a craftsman could work with. She hoped so anyway.

He wasn't really offed by Lily's statement, it was a clear, logically sound reason especially seeing as how he wasn't a dust enthusiast. It would definitely be better off for her to look at official sources...something that he himself should probably do eventually. At the mention of weapons, Chrohn nodded, "Yeah, you're right. People here definitely have a wide variety of cool looking weapons." This made him think of Lucky 7 and the slot machine, and also back to his weapons prior. They were useful, but in terms of Lucky 7, despite how powerful it could be, it had just as many chances, and many more, to fuck up and flop. It was set up so simply as Chrohn couldn't decide what he wanted to do with the sword. When he was stuck, the old man at the forge just tossed out this half-assed idea that stuck to Chrohn better than two pure metals in a vacuum. It would save him from having to decide upon one single purpose, but on the flip side, chances were low that he'd ever get the same order again, at least within a useful timeframe.
Chrohn thought on the question the little cat then posed, and quickly came to an answer that he thought would be useful. "Personally, in terms of weapons and such, I would recommend going with whatever you are good with, and maybe taking on a few things of dust once you learn more about it if you feel comfortable using it. Maybe something with armor piercing or crushing abilities, as it seems Grimm as of late have been becoming a bit more armored." The stargazer made a quick shrug as he checked the clock on the library wall," Hope that helped, if at least a little," and then he turned away from the little cat," I gotta head out, I have errands to run and classes to attend," and then quickly jogged out of the library.
