TAKE ME TO VALHALLA WHERE MY BROTHERS WAIT FOR ME |
A brilliant golden light of the morning stirred the Officer from his seemingly long slumber. Groggily, the male looked about his surroundings. His desk was smeared with disorganized paper, newspaper cut outs and files. At the side, there was a glass of coffee that he'd poured for himself last night. Now, it was all cold. How long had he been out for? Alburn couldn't exactly remember himself looking at the clock, but he did remember wanting to briefly close his eyes for a while from pulling all-nighter. Ever since the Siege, things got... complicated, per say. There were some regulations and shifts changed about here and there, even he found it difficult getting adjusted to the new dynamics of his current job. His father said that the police work was never an easy one, and boy, was he right about that.
Lazily letting out a yawn, Alburn stood up from his seat and dragged his feet to the bathroom at a speed of a sprinting sloth. With cold water washed over on his face, he felt more or less awake, but the papers on his desk was still disorganized. Just looking at all these endless towers of paper made him tired all over again. He wasn't exactly the one who'd push work to the side for tomorrow, but... he knew that organizing and filing them back to the way they were would take all day. Not to mention, he didn't even eat anything since yesterday, and his body desperately craved some calories that it'd lost from the daily patrol runs through the city that he called 'home'. Thus, the Officer made up his mind. He threw on his usual clothing, along with his favorite fur-lined coat and armed himself with Second Sun which was leaning against the wall. Now that he thought about it, it's been a while since he'd strolled through the neighborhood on foot while off-duty. It felt... strange. Almost alien. It was almost as if he'd forgotten how to use his legs.
Upon letting out a loud, audible sigh, Alburn stepped out of his dark apartment and into the bright, familiar scenery which stretched out before him.
As per usual, the city was vibrant, active, even at this time of the day. People living here were always on the move, contributing whatever they could to their kingdom. That was how the people in Legion lived. Some might've told them they were like work ants, but Alburn thought otherwise. Without the diligent civilians, the Kingdom would've never been a leader of technological and military prowess that many people in Remnant knew today. In a way, he was proud to be part of such society.
"Excuse me, sir?"
Alburn raised one of his eyebrows as he turned his attention towards the boy at his side, "Yes?"
"... Um, there's a fight going on in the alley - I think you ought to go stop them!"
A fight...? In middle of early morning? Someone must have had too much to drink last night. Even though Alburn was off-duty right now, he couldn't exactly find it in himself to ignore such pleas. Thankfully, he had his Scroll ready to call the backup units for pickup. "Lead the way."
