PLAYED BY KNAVE SEVENTEEN (17) NOVEMBER (11) | MALE FRESHMAN HUMAN | |
Melo DiMera |
★ APPEARANCE
Melo is a rather tall fellow, who is thin and lanky, albeit still fit as a Huntsman-in-training. He has messy cherry red hair, somewhat pale skin, and brick-colored eyes. On the norm he wears an open-fronted school jacket, with a horizontally striped grey shirt underneath, as well as the rest of his school uniform, slacks and shoes, and a brown belt which keeps his bottoms from dropping mid-combat. Other outstanding features would be the glasses he sometimes wears for reading up close, but he rarely deviates from the school outfit except in rare circumstances. At school though, he wears the jacket with the front closed, like everyone else, and wears his glasses all the time in case of needing to read something. He looks more nerdy and sophisticated in class, and more punk out of class, despite typically wearing the same clothes.
★ PERSONALITY
★ HISTORY
Melo DiMera was born and raised in a poor family in the kingdom of Rift. Like, really poor: Perhaps even povertously so. All he knew growing up was that his parents didn't eat much, and he was healthy enough to keep going whilst they toiled away trying to make the scraps of money they could, and he'd grown to appreciate what they did for him, but it always made him worried once he got out of his 'me, me, me' phase. His family was so thin, and he wasn't gaining a whole lot of weight very quickly.
They'd always tell him tales of Huntsmen, especially the one that saved their lives in a Grimm raid on their village. She was a powerful archer, who used primarily ranged combat, but she tore apart a horde of Barghests singlehandedly. What she lacked in close quarters she made up for in elegance and grace. This gave Melo an ideal to look up to, someone to aspire to without specifics. It was then that he picked up marksmanship, at first just as a hobby. But soon it was more than that, his hobby turned out to be prodigious talent, unlike anything his immediate community had witnessed before, except for the Huntress.
So he was let into Vytal Academy as an underclassmen to polish his skills, and get access to the supplies necessary to take himself to the next level. Also, because it was a mandatory thing he had to do because of the incredibly powerful Grimm that exist. It was one thing to have the talent, it was another thing to have the resources. The four years that followed were incredibly informative. Melo's lifestyle was altered a great deal. What used to be heading out for a walk, became going for a run. What was once practicing with a bow in his back yard, was now testing his new weapon prototype on the range. He studied hard, learned as much as he could. He aced practical exams, learned how to use his aura. He did everything in his power to become his ideal huntsman.
As Melo enters his official Freshman year at Vytal Academy, he enters having been in the top of his class in everything through studious hard work, and a dream.

★ COMBAT NOTES
WEAPONS
||Fae Bold|| Typically kept 'sheathed' in the form of a rectangular box on his back, the Fae Bold is a versatile ranged weapon known technically as a 'Bladed Compound Sniper Bow'. It has two weapon forms, the first is a very slightly opening of the sheathed frame, and it is a Semi-Automatic Sniper Rifle; magazine fed. The shape of it is box-like, but it features what he likes to call a 'reverse bayonet' which is a single curved blade which emerges out from the bottom of the frame and lets him swing the rifle like a sword, albeit closer to a single-bladed axe. Obviously, doing so would be very lopsided and unwieldy to do so, and it used only if the opponent doesn't give him enough space to fire the rifle. The bullets fired have enough power to kill like a snipers, but only have the recoil of a handgun, since there isn't much room to grab hold with a second hand.
Fae Bold's Sniper Rifle Form is a more accurate form, holding a scope for precision shooting, as well as being a more manageable form to pull on a time, only requiring two parts move from sheathed form. All in all the upsides are quick self-defense, and accurate shooting from a further range. It's downsides are that it has a lopsided melee method to it, and thusly can't be used particularly well in a mid-to-close scenario.
It makes up for these drawbacks in its full Bladed Compound Bow form, in which it folds out to have fully extended bladed limbs connected to the bolt-action-pump styled hammer mechanism in the middle by an elasticized metal cord. Essentially the bow still fires bullets, and is still magazine fed (clip loads into the side), but firing it is a lot like 'Fanning the Hammer' with a revolver. Melo fires the bullets by drawing and releasing the bow string while the barrel of the gun is pointing at the foe. This weapon features two bladed limbs attached to a single handle, allowing him to attack foes with slashing and stabbing reaping attacks. The drawstring firing mechanism detracts essentially nothing from the ranged capabilities of the bow, even having a more graceful feel to it when he fires mid-acrobatic-feat, and also lets him shoot the gun with his feet, if he chooses to. That's a thing he can do, by the way.
The primary benefits to the Bow form of Fae Bold is the perfectly balanced blades making for a very easy to wield weapon in melee combat, allowing it to be used very efficiently in close-to-mid ranged combat. The bullets are not reduced in power either, so this form is all-around more useful in most situations, given he has the time to unfold the whole thing. Its reduced accuracy makes it not a particularly good sniper rifle, though the bullets will go just as far if the shot isn't hard to make. A big downside to it is the fact that it takes an oddly long time to fully unfold into this form, a whole post, or 5 seconds, whichever is relevant to the situation.
MISC.
A spare bow, with real arrows; Dust-tipped. He owns this but it is not generally carried, unless there is a good possibility of his primary weapon being disabled or removed from him for extended periods in his forseeable future. Otherwise he generally keeps it in his room.
Melo's aura when showing is a serene mid-tone pink coloration, matching his namesake (Melon). It seems to linger around him like a fog rather than having any given form. He uses his aura to help others in any way he can, and has thusly focused his studies on figuring out how to activate the auras of other people. Thusly, he can assist others and give them a significant power increase if they aren't already able to use their aura. He's not super experienced with it, but he has helped other underclassmen gain access to their aura in the past. It runs him about 50 Aura Points to unlock that of another person. This won't give them immediate access to their semblance, but only because they won't know about it.
SHIPPING APPLAUSE
The power his aura holds is one which is difficult to understand simply by watching it. His power manifests as the ability to create a glyph on anything he is in contact with. The glyph is magical-looking and has a color that matches his aura (Melon-colored), and seems to spin like a record as it remains firmly placed on whatever surface he places it. Once he creates two of these glyphs, they will attract towards eachother, each moving in the other's direction, and eventually colliding, or as he likes to think of it, "Clapping". They take the most direct path possible when doing this, which means they can be intercepted by walls and other obstacles, and will not progress any further unless they have built enough speed to break through.
Acceleration will only happen if the things the glyphs are attached to are either unable to resist, or simply don't resist. This can be seen in the case of using a glyph to hit an enemy who is falling from high up and placing on on the ground. The ground is stuck to the floor and cannot be uprooted (thusly cannot help but resist), but the falling foe (thusly a foe incapable of resisting without semblance or wings) will accelerate helplessly into the floor at much faster than they'd normally land. Another example would be seen when planting a glyph on a foe, and then planting a glyph on a bullet and then firing it. The foe can resist, but the bullet will accelerate towards the foe faster since it's not capable of resisting (and thusly impact harder).
These Glyphs can also be be transfered from one thing to another by contact, most often done by planting a glyph on a bullet and hitting a foe with it. The glyphs can only affect up to an actively resisting force of about 200 lbs, meaning anything 200 lbs and heavier will innately resist unless other conditions are met (falling, lightened with gravity dust, purposely not resisting in the case of heavy humans, etc), and anything weighing less will innately not resist unless other conditions are met (rooting self into ground, increasing weight with dust). They also have a max size of 7 feet in diameter, though the size hardly matters so long as it's on the object.
Melo can also apply the glyphs to himself in order to obtain bursts of speed and force towards an opponent. Such things usually form glyphs around him latitudinally instead of like a flat disk on a surface. He could use this to fly up to a cliff corner, or to vastly assist his wall jumping game. Moreover, he can focus slightly to deactivate the attraction effect between two glyphs, in order to release them.
Smaller glyphs have more precise pulling, meaning he can make a glyph on a person's shirt to sort of pinch it and pull it towards the other, while have a more even pull, being more stable.
He can technically attract over his usual max payload, but he pays a drastically increased amount of Aura to manage it.
He can create multiple glyphs which don't correlate to one another when attraction is activated, but he often only does a corresponding two at any given time, only making more when he adds them to a whole magazine of bullets, for strategic purposes.
He can only link one glyph to one other glyph. He can have multiple pairs active, but no glyph may be corresponding to more than one other glyph.
The Glyphs disappear when the items make contact with each other, regardless of how hard.
