PLAYED BY RYEES TWENTY-FOUR (24) JUNE (06) | FEMALE CIVILIAN HUMAN | |
Beillahn Ymmillianna Rorotorinne |
★ APPEARANCE
Beillahn is an attractive girl, bearing a curvy, 5'4" frame capped off with silken, raven hair. She enjoys playing with her appearance, changing the style of her hair and her dress frequently, such that it is rare to ever see her in the same outfit more than a few times a month. Following that trend, her eyes uniquely fluctuate in response to her Aura, changing color either at her will or with her emotions. Soft features, pouty lips, a moderate bust, and the typical fit-and-firm body of a Huntress round out an appearance that undoubtedly has had much work applied to it.
★ PERSONALITY
★ HISTORY
Beillahn was born as a home birth. Her mother's contractions woke the woman up at night, and with no time to rush to the hospital, Beillahn was born in a bathtub in front of her father and older brother. The strange location of her birth led to a complication; it was found that the umbilical cord had wrapped about her neck, and as such her first moments were very tenuous and oxygen-deprived. She lived, and subsequent medical attention confirmed that the oxygen deprivation had had no obvious effects.
It was very early in her youth that Beillahn found out that she was to grow into quite the beauty some day. Her father was always particularly appreciative of her appearance, even going so far as to teach her how to maintain her beauty before her mother ever had the chance to do so. He taught Beillahn how to look just like mommy, instructing her on how to put her hair up in curls, apply light make-up to accentuate her natural, youthful splendor, and how to walk and talk to make it all pop! with just the right amount of pizzazz.
Beillahn grew very close to her father. Her mother traveled for work, so when Beillahn's father was left lonely in an empty bed, she would fill her mother's shoes for a few days and spend those nights curled up with daddy to keep him company.
Because of the circumstances of her birth, her medical attention over the years had been fairly extensive. During a routine physical near her pubescent years, a doctor took notice of her physical condition and recommended a follow-up appointment with a different kind of doctor. The psychiatric doctor she met with asked her a great many questions, and those questions led to uncomfortable conversations.
Beillahn brought the results of that conversation up to her father. They were not quite so close after that. Warm embraces became cold grasps; quiet giggles shared at night became shrill and pained; and her father's breath seemed to permanently take on the stale smell of alcohol. Beillahn and her mother began to spend more time together, a result of her mother's job bringing her closer to home. They found that their father was less inclined to bother them if they were together, though over time even that was written off. The three of them would spend most evenings together into Beillahn's early teens.
Felicia Dunwall. Beillahn's only source of respite over the years was her best friend and the escapes she could make to go spend a few nights away from home. For a long time, Beillahn kept quiet, but as their friendship grew, Felicia became more and more aware of Beillahn's ways and eventually dragged it out of her. A night full of tears and spewed words saw Felicia learning everything that had happened over the last ten years of Beillahn's life. Outrage mixed with sympathy and pain, and Beillahn found herself coming home much later than she had been allowed. She stood on her doorstep for some minutes, sending Felicia a number of messages on her Scroll before finally entering.
Her mother lay on the floor with a number of bruises on her head and exposed chest, many of them centered around her throat, and she was not moving. Beillahn feared the worst, but was accosted by her father before she could flee.
Some minutes, hours, days, weeks—Beillahn lost track of time very quickly as she tried to block it all out—Felicia was there, tackling her father off of Beillahn and throwing the man to the ground. There was a knife, there was screaming, and then there was quiet. Beillahn stood numbly staring at Felicia, knife in hand, straddled over her father's pierced corpse. Something overtook her, and she soon found herself straddled over Felicia, that same knife dripping in her father's blood suspended in both hands above Beillahn's head and angled at Felicia's heart. Minutes, hours, days, weeks... It was some time later that the knife was thrown aside and Beillahn collapsed, grotesquely sobbing into Felicia's chest.
Time passed, memories faded, locations changed. Beillahn found herself in and out of Vytal academy, making few friends but accruing great academic achievements. The information that was taught at the school was soaked up like a sponge; Beillahn's fighting skills were honed sharp by the burning flame of hate in her heart, and she found an affinity for machining. It was during this period that it was discovered her oxygen-deprived birth had left her with a moderate case of dissociative disorder, allowing her to completely separate her mind from the functions of her emotions and view things with the pure eyes of a mechanic. Constructs came quickly, and soon she began work on her combat frame.
After graduating she disappeared. Her talents and achievements faded into the past, and she was forgotten.

★ COMBAT NOTES
WEAPONS
Granblue, Planetary Combat Frame
Beillahn spent many long, tired hours hunched over a work bench with wires and cogs and microchips during her academic career, and among the first things she built was what would eventually become the basis for Granblue: the mechanized arm she calls Fördernarme. One of two identical copies—one left-handed and one right-handed—and able to perform much more precise movements than her human arm could, linking it with her Semblance allowed her to work—quite literally—like a machine, greatly accelerating the prowess and efficiency of her building. It still took her a number of years to assemble the gear she now carries, but each and every one is a technological marvel in and of itself, carried with pride and competence. After building Staubenarme, a collapsible shield was installed on Fördernarme's elbow that shifted forward to mount on the forearm, matching the blade on its brother. Hooking the shield up to the dust network in Granblue allowed for it to be charged to fit a variety of defensive needs.
Each of Granblue's arms has a small modification within the arm called a Tinteschreiber. These small mechanisms are tattoo needles linked up to the dust reservoirs within the suit. Beillahn herself was never the most adept at dust manipulation, but her acute understanding of machines combined with functionally competent levels of dust use (plus many hours of study) allowed Beillahn to program a machine that could simulate that acute understanding. These needles are able to print dust within her skin over the course of a few seconds for a single-use dust effect based on a variety of patterns and effects. As of now, this machine is operational but bears no effect patterns; she is still in the process of finding the exact list of effects she wants to program into the Tinteschreiber.
Staubenarme is the mirror to Fördernarme, typically worn on Beillahn's right arm, though it also has an identical copy to fit the left. A number of complex mechanisms make this piece the primary weapons platform that she uses in battle. Focused dust projectors in the fingertips of the suit function as rapid-fire energy emitters while a larger, more powerful emitter in the wrist is fitted with an oculus that can be tuned to fit the situation: At its widest focus, it functions like a shotgun, spewing a blast of energy over a wide, short radius, while at its most narrow focus, it sends a pencil-thin beam out to marksman ranges, allowing for accurate long-range engagements. Running along the bottom edge of the arm is a blade that extends out past the elbow that can be pivoted forward to lock into place along the underside of the forearm.
Flugstreke is the moniker given to the pair of greaves that attach to Granblue's chassis at the hip. Slender legs extend down to points that are fitted with dust exhaust, allowing for stabilizing the flight granted to the frame by Engelvern. Gyroscopic stabilization allows for the suit to balance on the points of those legs, but the bottom twelve inches can also separate and fold into feet should the suit need to conserve power.
Engelvern attaches to the back of Granblue and grants the suit flight at a high but reasonable cost of its dust reserves. More typically used for short dashes, single bursts from the thrusters are enough to give the suit a great deal of mobility and evasive capability.
The helmet, Herzkopf, has a great deal of sensors and scopes built into its tactical visor, allowing for full-range view of the battlefield via field of view manipulation. Herzkopf is the housing for the suit's finer computers and sensors, as well as the home of Blau, the suit's on-board artificial intelligence. Originally designed as a simple feedback program for all the data the suit took in, Beillahn eventually gave it a pseudo-personality and developed into a true AI, moving away from the beeps and buzzes to a more pleasant, conversational version that, save for Felicia Dunwall, is her best friend.
Granblue is the torso of the frame, the centerpiece, the namesake, and the contingent lynch-pin that turns a couple of mismatched pieces of mechanical armor into a cohesive, well-rounded combat frame. It houses the dust reserves for the suit as well as the servos and mechanisms that interlock into each piece, also serving as a piece of armor that covers her chest. Its notable features include dust reserves; a pair of nine-millimeter (9mm) submachine-guns mounted under concealed compartments on the frame's shoulder plates, fed from ammunition belts stored within; and a percussive field generator in the chest that sends out a shockwave to disengage opponents who are a little too sticky for comfort.
With the finalization of its AI, Beillahn was able to program the suit to seek itself out via connection to her Semblance. As long as she has Granblue's torso linked, the other pieces can be summoned using the same technology as academy storage lockers. A dummy torso loaded with the dust required for the flight is staged with the rest of the suit when Beillahn leaves it, and at her command she can call for it to fly to her, oftentimes able to land within inches of her and immediately attach. It is not frequent that she is found without some number of its pieces on her person, but no matter which she is carrying at the time, the rest are always lying in wait for show time.
MISC.
Unlike most academy graduates, Beillahn does not always carry all parts of her gear with her at all times. Had she pursued a career as a Huntress, she might not feel the need, but as of now she always carries a handgun on her person. Her attire changes frequently, so it is not often she is found with any signature clothing. Aside from her scroll and a few odds and ends, her every day carry only includes a handgun for self defense, a folding pocket knife, and a purse with the female essentials neatly tucked inside.
The Aura surrounding Beillahn is a light, bouncy, almost childlike shade of blue outlined with a dark, mechanical gray border. Initial impressions find that gray outline, while a second glance punches through to the open, cheerful, flirty inner workings that perfectly match the girl it surrounds. Her years in schooling taught her to use her aura offensively and defensively, as well as how to illuminate the world around her. She knows how to unlock the Aura of others, but typically leaves that task to more appropriate mentors.
BPN: Beillahn's Private Network
It was not by chance or happenstance that Beillahn found herself with an affinity for machines and constructs. The moment her Aura was unlocked, she felt a connection with those whirring mechanisms that surrounded her, and within days she had discovered the nature of her abilities and began honing them. BPN allows Beillahn to tap into machines and electronics around her and control them as naturally as an additional limb. Be they mechanical, electronic, combustion, or otherwise, the only difference she finds in different mediums is connection time. In familiar territory such as computers, gears and cogs, and engines, she is comfortable and can take over the entire machine in an instant; with more complex systems, it takes her a handful of seconds—sometimes more than a half a minute—to fully synchronize her mind with the object in question to assume control.
When linked to a machine, Lahny can not only control it, but also gains passive benefits based on the capabilities of the machine she has taken over. For instance, if she links herself to a personal video camera with night vision technology, she can switch that vision on and off in her own eyes; or, if a computer has a particularly powerful chipset, she can take on those benefits to increase her own reaction time and processing speed; or, if a machine has a global positioning sensor contained within, she can use it to gain absolute knowledge of her location. So long as she remains linked with the object, she can gain those benefits.
As long as an object is within her line of sight, she can tap into it. However, outside of a comfortable range of two-hundred (200) yards, it begins to take her more and more time to focus cast her Semblance that distance in order to make a connection. When an object is within a much closer fifty (50) yard radius, however, she can sense those objects much more keenly and tap into them without the need to see them: She simply senses a running machine and casts herself into it.
When able to come into physical contact with a machine and concentrate for a moment, Beillahn can link it to herself and form a closed network of machines that she can sense and access within a much larger distance. When within twenty (20) miles of any network-linked object, she can access it via her Semblance as if it were on hand at a slightly higher cost to her Aura. She can have up to ten machines in this network, but she can only control three (3) of them at a time. She does not gain any passive benefits from an object simply for its presence within her network; she must be actively controlling an object to take on its traits.
While she does have complete control over any given machine, she cannot break the limitations of that system. Her control over any given object simply extends to the maximum capability of that object.
