PLAYED BY ShadowBright Thirty Two (32) September 28 | Female Vytal Combat Instructer Faunus (Scorpion) | |
Lavender Rose |
★ APPEARANCE
The most obvious thing about Lavender is her stinger. Stretching from the back of her waist, a long segmented scorpion stinger stretches outward. It is incredibly mobile, spending most of its time wrapped around her torso like a belt. The stinger is a deep red, and while it is rather long the stinger itself is not too abnormally sized. Her purple-blue hair is kept in a long braid, stretching down to the small of her back. Her eyes are two separate colors, the right one red and the left blue. She stands at a solid 5’9 with a lithe build. Her standard outfit is a semi formal blouse with a combat skirt, colored a navy blue with red trim. The “bulb” of her stinger often sits resting upon her back pointing towards the ground, appearing as if it came from the bottom of her hair.
★ PERSONALITY
★ HISTORY
Lavender was abandoned at an early age, in fact she can’t remember a time before she was on the streets of Pinnacle. She figured the reason she was abandoned was because she was too poisonous to the lives of her parents, and she was correct. As any scorpion faunus left to fend for herself would do, she began a life of crime. Utilizing the poison she was born with, Lavender not only began stealing to survive, but also showcasing her innate combat abilities. While she could fight, her stealth and subtlety were not nearly up to snuff and she soon got caught by a hunter who’s eye had been caught by her prowess. As such, the young scorpion was offered a choice. Go to Vytal Academy and become a huntress, or get turned over to the police and continuing to live on the streets as soon as she got out of jail.
Lavender’s reason for stealing was simply to survive, so when she was offered an alternative she leapt at the opportunity. Advancing through the academy at a standard rate, Lavender quickly realized her love of the hunter’s life. The biggest discovery however, was that her natural poison while not as effective on Grimm, was still somewhat effective. As such she began developing a different form of the venom, one specifically designed for use against Grimm. Her agile frame and sheer tenacity proved wonderful assets, along with her stinger and its poison. Her utilization of poisons and debilitating effects earned her the nickname “Poison” from her classmates and some of her teachers.
Upon graduating Vytal Lavender traveled the world assisting against the creatures of Grimm-and any other threats-wherever she could. It only took her six years to discover that she missed the walls of the academy, that she wanted to once again walk among those walls. However this time, she wished to do so as a teacher, she wanted to help aspiring hunters and huntresses acquire their dreams. Or die trying. So she returned to the first place she ever called a home, though this time as one of the masters of the house instead of one of its guests. She teaches combat skills and tactics, preferring to be referred to as either Professor Rose or simply Poison. She’s been teaching there for six years now, and with danger rising the next generation means more than ever. Lavender will be there to guide them along the path of strength, or to weed out those who aren’t prepared.

★ COMBAT NOTES
WEAPONS
Lavender possesses two weapons, her primary being the needle like rapier known as Skorpio. It is a three and a half foot needle, with the longest diameter being one inch at the base. It has no slashing point, but it has a place for both vials and cartridges on the hilt. The vials, while they theoretically could contain liquid dust, instead contain doses of Lavender’s trademark poison. While her natural poison paralyzes humans/faunus and slows Grimm, her specially engineered venom does not affect humans or faunus but instead temporarily paralyzes the creatures of Grimm. The cartridges contain small darts which can be coated with the liquids in the vial and fired from the hilt, just beside the blade.
Her secondary weapon is a small, pointed finger covering worn on her right hand’s index finger. This nasty little weapon is called Sting, and while not threatening on its own, combined with her poison it can be devastating. She has a bottle resting on her right thigh designed to allow the tip of Sting to be dipped into it while not allowing the liquid to spill. Once again, she could in theory use liquid dust with this, but instead uses her poison, with the same effects as when used with Skorpio.
Lavender fights with a very aggressive style, using Sting, her stinger, and the needles fired from Skorpio to slow down or paralyze her targets before striking a crippling blow with the terrifyingly sharp point of Skorpio’s blade. She attempts to close distance very quickly, striking swiftly and with debilitating poisons at extremely close range. Each cartridge for Skorpio contains 10 needles, and each vial for the same weapon contains 10 doses. She carries 3 spare of each at any given time. Sting must be dipped in the poison bottle each use, and said bottle contains 25 doses, though she carries no spare.
MISC.
Lavender’s stinger is a weapon in and of itself. It has a sharp point that allows it to puncture skin and certain weak materials, like stone. However the bulbous nature of it means it won’t get very far into skin, and will likely just end up smashing through most inanimate objects. However the true danger of the stinger is not in its tip, but its poison. This poison is what Lavender uses to synthesize her anti-Grimm poison that she uses with her weapons, but it has uses by itself. Upon entering a living creature’s bloodstream, it causes temporary paralysis, or simply spasms for the fortuitous. When used upon the creatures of Grimm it slows their reaction speed, causing their movements to become sluggish and strained. Her natural poison is purple and drips like ichor. The poison she synthesizes from it is pitch black and flows like oil. In addition, due to her innate physiology she is immune to her own toxin, and has a higher resistance to similar ones.
Lavender’s rosy aura emits a feeling of wits, being around it makes others think they can solve any problem, and sometimes even helps them through their problems. Her most prominent aura ability is offensive enhancement, though not in the standard way. Instead of increasing the power of her weapons, for 10 aura points she can increase the potency of her next applied dose of poison-be it from stinger or weapon. This causes the color of it to change to a blood red and makes it harder to resist the effects and causes those effects to last longer. Two of her other aura abilities also work off her poison, though these do it in even stranger ways. By spending 35 aura points she can cause her stinger to glow with a golden light and drip white liquid. Injecting someone with this white poison causes it to act as the mending aura ability. For 15 aura points she causes the poison to turn clear, and injecting someone with that is how she accesses her aura unlocking ability. Augmenting her poison with either of these effects makes it lose the standard effects for the next dose-after all healing someone in combat isn’t that effective if they are immediately paralyzed. She also has access to defensive enhancement, creating long scorpion tails to deflect attacks for 7 aura points each.
Displacement
Displacement, in theory, is a very simple semblance. It allows Lavender to move any object or willing person 1-3 feet in any direction. Attended objects, such as weapons or held items will not move if the holder is unwilling. This semblance does not work on creatures of Grimm or artificial life forms, as to move something that large requires it to have an aura. Using dust with this semblance would cause an elemental replica of whatever is being displaced to occupy its previous location, before exploding into a burst of elemental power. It also triples the aura point cost of the semblance. The displacement is instantaneous, and for those not used to it could be very disorienting. To move an object is 3 aura points per foot, and she can only move objects up to 20 pounds. To move a person is 10 aura points per foot, and as stated previously requires a willing target. Lavender has dust crystals in her possession to use with her semblance, but does not have a standard set she carries at all times.
