ANGEL FRIESE |
★ APPEARANCE
Angel is a girl of all around average looks, with short brown hair kept in place with a series of pins, matched by a pair of soft brown eyes. Rather slim, given her general appearance it isn’t uncommon for some to mistake her as simply a rather effeminate boy. Angel’s outfit tends to be made up of a white blouse, brown/orange shorts, knee-length black socks and a pair of boots, completely covered by a rather large, white sleeveless coat.
★ PERSONALITY
Angel, to begin with, heavily prefers being called Friese, with a higher preference for her surname over her given name. Friese is a peculiar young girl, terrible at holding conversations, and despite her resourcefulness, intellect and studious nature, is absolutely horrid when it comes to reading the atmosphere when it comes to anything social. Perhaps due to her being socially braindead with all the time in the world, most of Friese’s time had ended up being spent on both study, sports and combat training, as a result, despite her lack of social skills, she’s quickly been seen as a ‘model student’ by most faculty within Vytal Academy. With no real experience when it comes to speech, Friese is rather lacking in many points, particularly, she’s rather overly trusting at best, whilst not exactly gullible, she’s quick to try and find the good in people, even if it’s rather blatant that they’re not trying to be good.
Whilst Friese is mostly seen as a model student, most of this in turn comes from a rather absurd amount of effort put into academics. The one most exceptional trait of the young girl’s is her ability to quickly pick up things; she’s a fast learner, quickly figuring out things on the fly, and often times showing proficiency in a wide variety of skills most would take a much longer time to reach, though she tends to be rather average when it comes to how well she performs with those skills with a few exceptions.
★ HISTORY
As unfortunate as it may be, the life of Angel Friese, whilst a tale of loss, is one not exactly unheard of nor uncommon in the world of Remnant. Angel was born as a young girl within one of Rift’s attempts at expansion. Angel’s story begins in a small mining town not too far from the city of Stalwart. For most of her early childhood, she had lived an average if not rather quiet life, filled with little more than books from a particularly large collection owned by her father. The young girl was a somewhat sheltered individual, the most interaction she had were children looking curiously through the windows, which she had always replied to with a casual wave. It was only a few days before the disaster that she had finally mustered the courage to try opening the windows and talking with the other kids. A time the young girl would always cherish.
The attack had hit without any warning; by the time that the Huntsmen and Huntresses stationed at the town had realised, most were already dead. The Grimm had been unearthed by the mining operations, a singular Elder Taijitu of grandiose size. Realising that the town was doomed to fall, the few Huntsmen and Huntresses left had attempted an evacuation, rallying the few survivors aboard a freight train meant to export the ore. At this time, Angel and her mother had been separated from her father, with women and children boarding first. The young child had no idea what had just happened, but by the end of the evacuation, whilst she and her mother had made it to safety, her father and the many men who had clammered into the carriage behind them were gone, presumably swallowed whole when they cut themselves off the rest of the train. A memorial had been built for those who had sacrificed themselves, as well as the other casualties of the mining town near the outskirts of Stalwart.
Years passed, and whilst still shaken by the events that had taken her father, Angel grew determined to make the world a safer place; with plenty of people in her life to steer her in the right direction, Angel chose to attend Vytal Academy.

★ COMBAT NOTES
WEAPONS
Agni - A pair of gloves with indents made for channeling Dust weaved into their fabrics, near the wrist of each glove is a bracelet like shape with 3 grooves evenly spaced out, in which Dust can be loaded through. In a more primitive sense, clashing the two gloves against one another causes whatever Dust type currently loaded in to flare momentarily, augmenting an individual’s strikes with Dust. In terms of ranged combat, the gloves have a special function with which at the cost of roughly half the amount of Dust in a single container, one can form essentially knives out of pure Dust to be thrown. Thus with both gloves, an individual can create up to 12 knives whilst completely loaded. The knives created by Agni are rather quick to shatter, whilst still rather surprisingly effective at piercing due to the high velocities they’re usually subjected to by their owner. Typically loaded with Red Dust, Agni tends to appear as though it’s caught ablaze during combat.
MISC.
Friese tends to keep a pistol hidden within her coat, alongside her plethora of munitions for Agni.
Friese’s Aura emanates a lilac-coloured ember, incredibly difficult to see even for your typical forms of Aura. Whilst giving off a flame-like burning effect, Friese’s Aura in fact feels more akin to a calming, cool breeze rather than exuding heat like a typical flame.
Acceleration
Friese’s semblance is one that affects accelerations and vectors of acceleration. In terms of how it appears, the semblance forms a translucent, lilac disk-like shape with a diameter of 1m within a 2m radius of herself, dissipating after 3 seconds. These disks are what Friese refers to as her ‘Gates’. The effects of these Gates are entirely dependent on how much Aura Friese utilises to form them.
With the most minimal amount of aura used, objects that pass through Friese’s Gates will have their rates of acceleration halved or doubled, depending on which side they pass through. If an object passes through the Gate from Friese’s original point, acceleration is doubled, and the opposite, halved.
With higher aura uses, Friese can change the direction of acceleration as well as doubling it, and if done correctly can redirect projectiles and attacks in even the opposite direction. Keep in mind, melee strikes affected by this would likely injure the assailant’s limb affected.
It’s important to note that Friese’s semblance can only affect acceleration. The doubled force of a reversed acceleration will only reverse a projectile if the acceleration outmatches the actual speed of it fast enough. Friese’s semblance does not simply override forces acting upon an object that passes through her Gates, it only brings in a new force or changes the directions of existing forces, and may soften certain forces depending on their direction.
One such use of this would be to soften her fall from a high point to survive by reversing the effects of gravity on her body for a moment. Note, usage of this would require her to create a Gate directly beneath herself, pass through it in a manner that her body does not break out of its area of control, such that she’s actually affected by her own semblance, AND so that the only force of acceleration she’d affect is gravity. In essence, depending on the direction of her Gate, she can only interact with acceleration on objects from a single direction and its direct opposite.
Friese can create more than a single Gate, however the gates MUST remain in a single directional line, and cost more Aura to create per each existing Gate. Friese can only keep up to 4 Gates open at a time.
The Details
Double/Halving Gate; 10 Aura + 5 Aura per each existing Gate.
Directional Gate - up to 90°; 25 + 5 Aura per each existing Gate.
Directional Gate - between 91° and 180°; 40 + 5 Aura per each existing Gate.
Aura - Defensive Enhancement; 5 Aura.
