“You never know where life will take you. Sometimes it brings you down a path full of lovely flowers and smiling faces, but more than likely it will stab you in the back and leave you for dead in an abandoned alleyway”

Gresian was pleased as Heidi made her response, his void expression being replaced with a more chipper one. There was still a bit of an off-putting vibe to it, but he seemed to be a bit more pleasant. By Heidi's own admission she didn't fully grasp his words, but he was pleased nonetheless that she did seem to understand and even agree to some extent with what he said. The world was fragile and tried to suppress those with power or the knowledge to overcome their weakness, and it looked like she was able to understand how ridiculous that entire notion was. A piece of paper may be able to cover a rock, but that doesn't change the fact that the rock is strong enough to tear a hole right through that paper when it felt like it.
He was still skeptical of her claim that others were on their way, and while he even still felt he could take them on despite his injury, he noted that it was an excuse being provided for him to make his leave. He wouldn't take advantage of it out of fear for his life or out of cowardice, but it gave him an easy way not to kill off someone who really understood how the world worked. She had potential and perhaps wasn't as naive as he first thought, people like that were rare and he found it would be much more amusing to see how things would play out if he let her live.
As she made her leave, a thought came to him. Grabbing the other knife hidden in his boot and one of the red cloths that were capable of igniting into flames. He began cutting into the cloth, carving an ID number for a scroll into it. He then made one more stab at the top of the cloth, keeping the knife embedded there and throwing it intentionally to the right of Heidi's head. "Do what you wish with that," He called out, turning his own back to her. Due to the cloth it was on she could easily just burn it and leave the ID to be forever lost, she could use it to contact him later, hell she could even hand the ID into the authorities. He was seemingly putting a lot of trust into Heidi, but in truth the ID wasn't exactly for his own scroll. It was the scroll of one of his victims, though it was the one he used when giving contact information as to make it harder for authorities to track him.
