精神病の愛 You knew the game and played it, it kills to know that you have been defeated, I see the wires pulling while you're breathing. WORDS count here NOTES Know the truth | The feint smoke from a withered cigarette rose into the still air of Zari's home. The dark and small bedroom mirrored a jail cell on a cold winter night. The lights had been left unlit in favor of the dim moonlight. The dim rays of lunar light trickled into the man's chamber infrequently due to a thick overcast. The resident of the blackened room sat in a subconscious state - almost a meditative state. He sat in silence with his body bare, as he normally did. Chills ran down his spine as the night's air creaked through his window to strike his body and mind awake.
Zari's first response was to slap the back of his neck and trace the tattoo stained into his skin. The old emblem stung Zari with emotional pain. Though the Void dust had been thought to be removed, cleaned out of his system...purged, it was simply dormant. And that reality became clear to him less then forty hours ago. As the man stood up and peer at his clock, four-forty-seven he took in a deep breath. The cool night air froze his lungs before. With a quick hand, he walked out of his room in order to begin his preparations.
He thought back to the reason for his uneasy rest and long hours awake. Lily, a shining student in Zari's eye, was the cause. For the worst kind of reason.
Two days ago, Zari had gone to visit Lily in the infirmary ward. While he knew about the events which occurred during the funeral in Legion, not all details were known to the public - known to him. Because of his ignorance, Zari had been unprepared for what would happen. He entered the infirmary dressed like usual, this day, he had a brief case with him. After taking some time looking into the necessary means, the Professor was able to acquire some items he figured Lily was like. A set of shin guards and schematics for varies weapons Zari felt would couple Lily's fighting style. A faint smile crossed the professor's pale lips as he would approach the girl's room.
That is when he first felt it. Before he could finish his "Hello" Zari bit his lip in sudden pain. The curse he happily agreed to place on his own body. The aura and well-spring of negative energy coursed through the man with a sudden flare. An ugly feeling awoke within his stomach and a cloud invaded his mind. As Zari leaned against the stark wall, he looked up to see Lily. Something within the man demanded him to inspect her. Forcing himself straight, he hurried towards the girl and placed a gloved hand over her. It was then that he found her marking. The deep black patch caused Zari to have an anxiety attack. His body shivered as cold sweat formed on his skin.
It appeared Lily's newly received marking reached out and managed to flare up Zari's dormant marking. While they were from two different sources, the material was one in the same. Thus causing a reaction to spark within Zari. Without even saying a word the to girl, Zari took out a small black pouch from his back pocket. The silk bag was smaller than his palm. From it he pulled out a small, white dust crystal equal to the size of a bean. Placing the divine dust between them both, it began resonating a soothing, almost angelic wave over them. After a moment of silence, the power of the divine dust crystal numbed the presence of the Void dust lingering on both Lily and Zari.
Suddenly Zari turned around and began walking towards the door. "Northwest part of the island. A beach shrouded in forest. Two days from now at six o'clock AM. I shall light the way." As he was about to walk through, and close the door behind himself, Zari looked back to Lily. His eyes filled with pity and sorrow. All for the young woman. "I shall explain then."
Since that day, Zari had remained in his own home, planning and preparing. Visiting his own buried demons and working out his thoughts. To Lily it might have seemed as if Zari had lost his mind all of a sudden. Or something to that effect.
When the professor had finished his preparations at five-twenty-one, he emerged from his small home in the housing district. Towards the side rested a lean motorcycle. Black and white in color. As the man climbed onto the sporty vehicle, he placed his tonfa's and staff, Midnight Thorn, on the cycle's side. The colors blended and meshing into one as the dark night blinded and nulled all colors. Once the key slid and clicked in the ignition, a silent purr rolled through the neighborhood. Like a phantom in the night, Zari sped through the paved streets of the Housing District before skidding onto a dirt path.
For several minutes he rode at full throttle. The engine echoing through the trees which began to grow in number. As street lights grew further and further away, Zari eventually lowered his staff to the ground. With a thud and skid, it dragged through the dirt and made a trail behind the Professor. Taking a sharp left turn, Zari maneuvered his bike through trees and shrub before finding himself against a grass covered beach. For a five minutes she stared at the open water before closing his eyes. As he sat atop his bike, Zari began to radiate his bright aura. The white-lavender field glowed bright in the dark wood. He'd remain still, giving off his radiance for as long as it took for Lily to arrived.
If she came at all.

----- Never stop Running ----- tag: --- // words: --- // notes: --- Lily had only been "released" from the hospital on the day that Zari requested she come meet him. In all honesty, they had every intention of keeping her longer, but Lily had managed to convince a nurse to leave her the keys for her cuffs so that she might steal away in the night, with the promise that she would return in the morning. The Vytal hospital staff had wanted to observe her for some time, to see if her aura would change further, and to study the strange eye that had popped up on her arm. After Zari had left that day, she had spent a long time replaying the sensation of peace that had washed over her when the brightly colored dust crystal had been activated. The sense of distance it created between her and the terrible corruption that was slowly eating away at her soul was incredible. Even Guin's semblance a few days prior hadn't compared. When it faded, and after her teacher had left, she was left with a sense of peace that lasted for some time, before the darkness inevitably crept back in.
After she had gotten out, she spent some time catching up on homework that she had fallen behind on. She had been working on some of it while in the hospital, but her head wasn't in any proper space to be focused on the books and papers full of exercises she had to complete. She avoided using her semblance like the plague, so studying was a much slower endeavor. Every time her aura happened to flare up, she found herself miserable, thoughts of the basilica, and all of those killed within hung over her like a curse. The only other thought that pervaded her mind was Zari's cryptic message. She knew roughly where the teacher had requested they meet. One of the very first things she'd done after coming to Vytal was map out the wilderness. The island was much smaller than the land that she roamed before, so it hadn't taken her too terribly long to become familiar with the geography.
She treed herself near where she believed Zari would want to meet, and meditated. It was still the early morning, she guessed by the position of the moon in the sky that night had fallen only three to four hours prior. By her estimation, she'd have another four to five hours before her meeting with zari was slotted to begin. She could feel her father's presence there as she meditated, instructing her to pay less attention to form, and more attention to feeling. The ambiance provided by the smell of sea air blowing through the trees, and the sound of waves crashing on a not too distant shore was peaceful. Her father was usually quite rigid in his forms, but he had impressed all of the proper ones onto her, and after she'd learned the basics, he began focusing more on the greater purpose of meditation. Meditation was a tool to search the soul, as well as a tool to develop one's mind. As she meditated, her aura flared up. It was a muted grey that brought despair, and blended with the night sky fairly innocuously. Each time she felt it's light, she felt the depression creeping into her mind. She breathed deep, and finally began tackling this particular demon.
For the next few hours she delved into her own consciousness. She couldn't believe that the void alone was responsible to the change in her aura. Her aura had brought peace, and it had brought hope. It was an aura that she aspired to match. It was the one thing that she liked about herself. It kept her believing that she was on the right path in life. Perhaps she'd spent too much time dwelling on the horrors of her past, and not enough time finding the road forward. Was this curse to be her punishment for not taking some opportunity? No, that couldn't be right. She had dived into her training and schooling with a focus unmatched by most of her peers.
Was it because she thought that? She did often catch herself disgusted with some of the students apparent frivolity. How could they be so happy when darkness encroaches? How could they focus on anything other than preparing themselves?
This isn't home.
This place that she had come to love, it wasn't the same as it was in the wilds. Warriors could afford to be happy. They did not need to dedicate themselves body and soul to their training, as Lily had. They had a different kind of strength. A reason to fight, a people to protect. Not to say the tribes didn't wish to protect those that they loved, but here, there was a way of life that deserved to be protected. Part of protecting that way of life, was living it. She didn't know how to really become a part of all of this, and she was constantly distancing herself from the life she could have here, and pushing habits and a lifestyle reminiscent of her life outside of the protection of the kingdoms.
Was this distance she'd put between herself and the rest of the world the reason her aura had rotted in this fashion? Or was it something else?
Before she could answer that question, she heard the roar of a motorcycle nearby. It grew louder, and louder, until she could no longer focus on her meditation. She looked up at the sky, and noted the change in position of the moon. How long had she been combing her consciousness for answers? Why had she ended her session so empty handed?
The motorcycle turned sharply, and began decreasing in volume. It was a slight decrease, but her keen hearing could detect many nuances that would be lost on other observers. It sounded as if it were moving toward the beach she was near. She carefully jumped through the trees where she saw a figure waiting by the ocean. There was a trail leading up to him. She watched him watch the ocean. She couldn't make out for sure whether or not it was Zari, but she had a hunch that it was. She jumped from her tree, landing silently in the sand. She was still clad in her hospital gown as she approached, and felt the sands in between her toes as she stood there. She watched the ocean with him, unsure if he were aware of her presence or not. When he suddenly lit up the area with his aura, she took that as a signal to approach.
She did so, her feet making no noise in the sand.
"I am here," She said, her voice came out as nearly a croak. Her throat had been raspy and brittle, as if it threatened to crumble and blow away in the cool ocean breeze. She had done a fair bit of screaming in the past several days. Mostly when she was alone in her hospital bed. She hated the confinement, and she hated being alone with herself now.
Hatred.
Lily felt more of that now than she had ever felt before. It had previously been something reserved for the grimm, and occasionally for herself. For the first time in her life, it was something she directed at another living human. She hadn't even hated the men and woman she'd killed while in the wilds. Their deaths had been necessary to Lily's continued survival. They had made a mistake in coming after Lily, and they paid for it. That was the law of the land beyond the walls, and she was not above those laws. Those that thought themselves above such laws often wound up facing the wilderness' own form of brutal justice.
She was silent after announcing her presence. She burned with a thousand questions, but she knew that the fastest way to get her answers was to let the professor explain himself.

精神病の愛 You knew the game and played it, it kills to know that you have been defeated, I see the wires pulling while you're breathing. WORDS count here NOTES Know the truth | As Lily announced her presences Zari slowly contained his aura back within his mortal form. As the night sky melded into the dark sea beside them, Zari looked to the girl with outstanding visage. His eyes glowed like magical balls of flame, green and red, that were slowly dying out the longer he stared at his student. Her figure almost caused tears to flow after more then ten years. It was truly a sad evening for him. And if Lily already knew what he would lay upon her, she might have released a tear as well.
Slowly the professor stood up and off of the vehicle. His movement was filled with a somber and saddened soul. As he shuffled towards Lily, his jacket was waving in a hard breeze which came off the sea. It smelled of sour salt and murky tides; uncommon for the region.
"I know you have some...no. I am sure you are riddled with questions inquiring about my message. Maybe about that small object I used back at the hospital. Maybe even that thing stuck to you and your very soul." The man looked to Lily on even footing with eyes level to her own. A quick lob caused his black staff to sail towards her. "Catch that. And so me what your soul is made of. In this moment in time. Should I see what I fear to see, I shall divulge some information onto you. And all will be relieved."
With some hesitation, Zari made a small praying gesture. "But if the Architect is merciful and allows me to be wrong. We shall return to the hospital and you will not remember this evening. Firstly I will need to witness your display. So please be honest with me and ignite your soul. Produce your aura and focus some into my weapon."
The weapon in question was familiar to Lily. The professor's well kept staff known as Midnight Thorn. It's body weighed less than most other weapons of similar build and style. A multitude of etchings and runes were carved into the Dust infused metal. Ranging from deep carvings to shallow etches. And if Lily was keen enough she would locate a small hatch towards the weapon's top.

----- Never stop Running ----- tag: --- // words: --- // notes: --- Lily caught the professor's staff and held it in her hands for a moment. It was light, lighter than it should be. She tossed it back and forth between each of her hands for a few moments, getting a feel for how it handled. She nodded, pleased with the way that it felt in her hands. She gave it a few cursory swings, and the softly echoing wail that emanating from the weapon was like the cacophonous wail of the dead in Lily's sensitive ears. With a better feel for how the weapon might handle, Lily finally did what she'd been putting off. She activated her aura. The gray light of her now sickened aura shone softly in the night. It was a muted color that wouldn't be noticed if one wasn't in the immediate proximity, and a far cry from the pure white light that she once produced. The aura collected in the black weapon as Lily began to do slightly more advance swings. She parried invisible enemies, and thrust back in retaliation against them. She swung the weapon a few times, and twirled it in small circles as she passed it from hand to hand. The weapon was exactly as tall as the girl herself was, which made wielding it fairly interesting. She continued to twirl it, and began moving her body in rhythm with the twirling staff. At one point she planted the but of the staff into the ground mid-twirl and used the momentum she'd built to flip herself a few feet across the ground using the staff to vault over an invisible enemy. Upon landing, she immediately infused more aura into the weapon, and swung it backwards.
Perhaps it was a result of all of the training that she'd done with the myomar fabric given to her by Solomon, or perhaps it was a result of her natural affinity for aura, but at the crest of her swing, the hidden blade in the tip of the staff extended as if to finish off the opponent that she had been squaring off against in her mind. That woman, who called herself St. Ivy.
Her aura still clung to her, and the weapon. The dark grey infusing the setting with despair, and dread. A feeling genuinely shared by the girl who possessed the aura. She worried that her soul would never return to normal, and that she would always be stuck like this. She chose not to think about it though, and instead swung the scythe around and tested the new weight. She was impressed, she hadn't even detected the extra weight at the head of the staff that must have housed the scythe's blade.
The longer Lily used the scythe to swing, the more she grew used to it. Her aura was still collecting in the weapon, building. It wasn't long before it started to extend the blade with an extra three feet of grey aura. She would continue to twirl the scythe around, and fight the imagined woman until either Zari would stop her, or she ran out of stamina. Which, considering Lily's legendary endurance, might be a while. Throughout all of this, she said nothing. She knew that whatever the professor was looking for would be found. She could tell that he dreaded the discovery, but she knew that it was there, lying in wait. She avoided his direct gaze, not wanting to see the disappointment and shock she assumed would be present there. He seemed especially sensitive to the matter. So, she threw herself into the first form of physical activity she'd managed to get in over a week, and was thankful for that small distraction, she wished that it would never end. It was elegant, in a way, the way that she danced with the scythe. It was a perfectly balanced weapon, and though Lily didn't use weapons that frequently, she appreciated the masterful yet simple design.

精神病の愛 You knew the game and played it, it kills to know that you have been defeated, I see the wires pulling while you're breathing. WORDS count here NOTES Know the truth | Zari would stand to watch his young student dance with the tool of death he presented to her. His ennchanting eyes danced like wisps as Lily danced like a shinigami from lore. The fay children which escorted the dying to the land beyond life and light. Above the shattered moon or deep below the darkened sea. At any other moment in time Zari might enjoy the display of technique Lily showed. However the moment her aura grew enough to release the blade. That is when the Professor decided her time was up.
Slowly the man would undo his pristine white gloves and undo the shirt covering his frame. A moment after Lily executed her illuionary target, Zari would raise his hand and call out to her. "Enough." The word was said in a loud and commanding way which differed from the usual tone Zari spoke in. On par, Zari spoke in a manner which was elegant and pronounced each letter and syllable. Just now however his old accent managed to break through years of training and conditioning - as if he were a different person. One which hailed from a slum or back alley. "I've seen all I need see."
With a few steps Zari advanced towards Lily while sticking his gloves into the back pockets of his loose pants. "I realized it back in the hospital. But I prayed all day wishing I was wrong. That old age was coming for me too soon and that I'd die quickly because of it. But no. I feel it too strong on you now. I can taste the familiar, sour ting of it on you. The Void. That darkness has clung to your soul like a parasite. And only hell will follow you." The professor placed his hand out and took his weapon back after he got close enough to Lily. It's sickle blade curled back into the black metal before Zari looked to his student.
"They were in the Legion. Weren't they? The one who did this to you." Zari asked while walking back to his motorcycle. "At Lady Pendragon's funeral."

----- Never stop Running ----- tag: --- // words: --- // notes: --- Lily listened intently, until the handsome young professor stepped forward and retrieved his weapon. She gulped a little then, and shook her head, apparently rejecting some thought that had crossed her mind. She refocused on the content on his statement, and the question he'd asked.
"At the funeral for Miss Pendragon, yes. She showed up. She identified herself as St. Ash. She was accompanied by the man who empowered the serpent in the Setek incident, he seemed to defer to her. When she..." she winced, thinking of the things that St. Ash had said, and revealed about those present. She gritted her teeth, and balled her hands into fists as her claws came out, driven by instinct. They dug into the the soft flesh of her wrists, and drew some blood. A pain she ignored as she continued recounting the events of that night.
"She made some threats against my friends, and I acted rashly. I tried to fight her. She stabbed Amber, and she hit me with this... this whip. I dunno, a piece of it broke off in my arm, some void crystal. The pain was unlike anything I've known, it drove me mad. It's corrupting tendrils reached into me. I ran. I ran and I ran, and I ran. I tried to escape the pain, but there was no escape. It was in this mad dash for relief that I destroyed the basilica. The tragedy, the deaths of all those people, it was all my fault. If I hadn't tried to run, or if I had tried to run in any other direction, then none of that would have happened." She paused to take a deep breath, as tears welled up in her eyes. She could feel her aura, the tainted gray sprung up unbidden. It was the same reflex her aura had always followed. Whenever she was particular sad, or distressed, her aura would pop out to help comfort her, help her mind rationalize the situation detached from sorrow and fear. Now, that same reflex only ever managed to compound those feelings into something much worse. She caught herself early this time, and managed to avoid the worst of it by forcibly suppressing her aura before she shrouded the two of them in it's negative light for too long, but the very fact that even that one small comfort had been taken from her and replaced by something so sinister was enough to make her cringe.
Tentatively, she withdrew her claws, and felt the warm liquid red trickle into her palms.
"I..." She started to say, but bit her tongue. Whatever attempt at bravado that she was about to attempt faded as more tears began to fall. "I just want to go back to normal. I hate this, and I don't want to feel this way all the time. I-I had enough on my plate already y'know? I still haven't gotten over ANY of the stupid stuff in my life, not the death of my parents, not the expulsion from my tribe, and... and hell, I died less than a week before I enrolled in this school. Life has given me enough problems without this."
As she said that last word, she flared her aura up once more, engulfing them both in the light which shone sorrow and despair upon all who touched it.

精神病の愛 You knew the game and played it, it kills to know that you have been defeated, I see the wires pulling while you're breathing. WORDS count here NOTES Know the truth | With his student visibally suffering before him, Zari closed his eyes in thought regarding Lily's story. He sighed before placing a hand under his chin. In his past dealings with Void dust, there had only been one form he had intimate knowledge of. The liquid used on him during his youth. There were rumors and such back in his time with Black Pharaoh of the source but no one was able to make a solid claim. If this person, this Saint Ash, was able to manifest or gather void dust, perhaps there was a link between them and his former boss. The possibility was there. Just like Divine, Void was hard to come by.
After a moment, Zari opened his eyes and placed his staff to the side. "It is not your fault Lily. This was not caused by your own intent. But by the will of a person...A creature foul and ugly." In a moment he'd lift his arms and placed them around the young faunus. He'd hold her tight enough for their chests to touch. Normally such a gesture would be frowned upon by teachers and students. But Zari was trying his best to comfort his suffering student. Gently he stroked her hair before speaking. "You are strong Lily Wilde. A powerful being that is still young. And thus you will not be able to conquer everything. This curse that was placed onto you...I know it well. I thought it could be banished from the soul. But now I realize that is impossible."
Zari released her from his grasp before placing his red jacket around her form. After he had undone his buttons, Zari opened his shirt and revealed the chain tattoo that ran along his throat and neck. Turning away from Lily, the professor revealed the stylized cross which hung from the back of his neck. "At this moment what you see is nothing much. Just the remnants of a troubled youth...Several years ago however, this marking was imprinted onto my body willingly. The Void Dust that was forced into your body was willingly gifted to me. I used it's power and feed off it's darkness for only a brief time. After which my allies and I began to go insane. Most died from Grimm, arrested and executed, or killed themselves."
It was then that Zari turned back around and showed Lily the divine tattoos on both of his hands. "It was only thanks to these and many years of meditation that I was able to recover. But I will tell you this now my dear student. There is no way for your to return to normal." Zari sighed and closed his eyes. "Once the Void take hold of you, there is little that can be done. But I swear something will be done. I will be killed and damned before I allow such a thing to fall upon you."

----- Never stop Running ----- tag: --- // words: --- // notes: --- Lily was certainly surprised when her teacher embraced her as he did. She was aware of his reputation as a harsh teacher, but her relationship with him had never been anything other than pleasant. As his arms held her tight, she buried her face in his shoulder, wetting the fabric of his jacket. She would have, under normal circumstances, felt guilty about that, but currently she was being bombarded by other complex emotions that she wasn't used to feeling. The pain, and the sorrow that resulted from the corruption were new spins on an old problem, but the warmth that bubbled up inside of her when her chest pressed into his was a new one. She had felt similar warm bubbly feelings in her time spent with Solomon Moon, and thanks to her romantic novels she recognized it for what it was. That she was sniffling, and crying into his shoulder when she realized she had a little crush on her teacher was frustrating to say the least. She looked like a mess, and felt like a wreck. She found herself wishing silly things while he stroked her hair. Things like 'I should have brushed my hair before coming' or 'How messy am I right now?' Things that she would never truly worry about on any other given day.
"I can't say that I wanted to hear that it's impossible," Lily said sniffling as Zari placed his jacket around her. It was warm, and Lily realized how cold she was due to the contrast. The hospital gown that she was wearing was hardly effective at insulating her against the chilled morning air. Goosebumps formed on her skin as she hugged the jacket tight around her, her face turning a shade of red to match the jacket as her teacher disrobed. She couldn't help but think about how truly exposed she was clad in the hospital gown as she watched him unbutton his shirt, but he began talking about his tattoos before she could go too deep down that particular rabbit hole.
She reached out, hesistantly at first, and traced the cross emblazoned on his neck. "So this is why you reacted the way that you did in our fight? I have wondered that for some time." She let her hand trail down a little bit, before withdrawing it.
She didn't know what to say in regards to Zari's former comerades. She didn't know what his allies and he needed such a dark power for, she didn't know the pain of losing so many in such a fashion. She had lost only a few people in her life, but those losses had been completely shattering. She felt like she should say something, but she didn't have any clue what would be appropriate, so she stayed silent.
It wasn't until he made the promise of damnation that she spoke up again.
"I am not so weak, that I would need you to sacrifice yourself for me. I don't want you to be damned. I... I can't say I like hearing that there isn't any fix for this problem, but that doesn't matter so long as the people who matter to me are still in tact. No matter what, as long as I have people like you in my life, I will be okay." She hugged one arm against her side, and fumbled for what to say next. She couldn't help but feel like there was something that she was missing. So, she did what she always did, she started talking until she found it.
"What happened to me was terrible. I am still not over it. I will not be over it for a long while. It is a comfort, I guess, to know that you've also been through it. You've come out the other side a much better person than I've feared I can become. You entrust the future to us students, you nurture others and watch them grow. I cannot begin to tell you the kind of respect I have for such a life. People like you are the entire reason I decided to come to the kingdoms. My tribe was not all tribes, so my experience is a little limited, but in my tribe, people were culled if they were not strong enough. I.. was culled. I was meant to die when I was eight years old, Here, there are people who are willing to help anyone gain strength. My parents would not have needed to die in order for me to survive in here. We could still be together, and it's people like you that make it possible."
She sniffed again, wiping the remaining tears from her eyes as she looked at her teacher with determination. "So, it doesn't matter whether I have this curse forever. I won't ever stop trying to get rid of it, but if I fail, I will not crumble. There is an entire world full of amazing people like you, and the friends that I've met here. A world that I refuse to fail. If I fall into despair because I am broken, then what good can I be to them? I have to move forward." Her eyes were alive. There had been so many different people that had come to visit her in the hospital, and it had made her realize that what had happened wasn't all about her. That crazy woman was still out there somewhere. She could be corrupting someone else right this very moment.

精神病の愛 You knew the game and played it, it kills to know that you have been defeated, I see the wires pulling while you're breathing. WORDS count here NOTES Know the truth | Zari stared at Lily as she spoke. In regards to her first question he nodded before redressing himself. He'd stop as the eerie wind blew against them both. Zari had not expected the young woman to respond in the manner she did. It was, in his eyes, both mature and immature at the same time. Her unwillingness to at first accept her situation was no surpring. It was the gradual realization, and acceptance that made her seem mature however. At this the professor could feel nothing but pride knowing he had a student such as Lily.
She was swiftly becoming the premier example of what Vytal students should be when faced with dire situations. The small smile which appeared across his face quickly flattened however when she began to compliment his character. A sigh escaped his lips before his eyes shifted towards the setting moon. It hung over the sea like a dead body fixed in place by a God. A twisted god full of malice. The Zari of this day and age only became what he was due to sin. So much sin that it would take two life times of unending service to put any sort of dent in his debt. He'd killed so many that he lost count. Stole so much that his home was littered with fenced funds. And adulterated so much it was a miracle he didn't have an heir to pass his curse onto.
It was not Lily's problem though.
Despite what he felt inside Zari forced himself to smile a small curved smile before patting Lily's head. "You show such resolve." His hands passed gently between her pointed faunas ears. "And that is why I shall be teaching you personally from now on. As your teacher at Vytal and teacher of 'Special topic'." Zari shrugged at the last phrase. "This thing that has touched you can not go away. But it can be hidden and it can be made dormant. I was not always a good man Lily. But the monks at Cela taught me a few things that aided in the calming of my mind. The termination of the pains and affects of the Void. If you will accept this offer you shall become my disciple. Not just my student."

----- Never stop Running ----- tag: --- // words: --- // notes: --- Lily let out a soft squeak as her mentor patted her head. Her cheeks took on a red hue, and she stood there, looking sheepish.
Lily spent a while thinking about what Zari was saying. She wanted this blight to be gone from her entirely. The thought of keeping it around, even if it was locked away and dormant in some small part of her soul, was not a pleasant thought to entertain.
After some deliberation, she finally said, "I... I want to trust you, and believe that what you say is the truth. You know more about this than I do, you've lived with it far longer. However, I am not yet ready to give up hope that there might be away to push the darkness out of my soul for good. I don't know if I ever will be. If you can accept that, if you can allow me this one foolish wish, then I would like to become your disciple. I can't promise I'll be the best student. I am young, and I can't guarantee that I'll always do what you ask me to do. Sometimes I do stupid things, even though I know they're stupid. I can be reckless, and aggressive, and my emotional state is hard to deal with at the best of times, but if you think that you can deal with all of that in a pupil, then I would love to receive your tutelage."
She was shaking a little. She wasn't entirely sure why either. Perhaps it was the thought of never being rid of the taint on her soul that shook her up. Or perhaps it was the stress of the last few weeks all catching up to her. She took a few deep breaths to steady herself. Willfully suppressing her aura, which normally would flare up in such a situation. She felt a brief moment of pride that she'd caught herself, but let out an exasperated sigh because she had to catch herself.
"There are some flames that you can't let die inside of yourself, and that is one of mine. Maybe I never do get rid of it entirely, but I'll always want to try."
