It had been a quiet day. Students went ahead with their classes, and the staff of Vytal Academy did their part instructing said classes. Evelina Shae, the Premier of the island, was far from her usual post. On most days, she worked alongside the academy’s headmaster, doing her best to ensure that life on the small island nation was fitting for its inhabitants. Today, however, she was among the many that had volunteered to protect the many workers building up the walls that would be known as the Waters of Life. “How’s it going up there, boys?” She shouted up to a few workers, waving in an effort to get their attention. Their responses were simple, shy waves. Probably just wanted to keep their eye on things, was all. With a proud grin, she rested her hands at her hips. Her gaze then followed the bit of the wall that had been completed, and a strong sense of pride burned in her chest. “Safe at last,” she said under her breath. “Just gotta hope it works as expected.” Off in the other direction, a number of wires and markings on the ground indicated where the next portion of wall would be put up. Time to check on everyone else. Wouldn’t want the kids doing nothing while still getting school credit. A small camp had been set up, serving as a base of operations and a rest area for everyone involved in the project. As far as she knew, the wall was only looking at a week or so until it was completed. Other than a mile or so of the structure, all they were waiting on was the Dust to power the shield generators - and that all depended on the response they got back from the Kingdom of Legion. Eve stomach churned at the thought of a less-than-benevolent response. Even though it had been months since the attack, there was little word on King-Regent Barnett in Rift or whatever was happening back in the Legion capital. Instead of worrying about it, Eve instead resolved to stay optimistic. She never knew Barnett as a particularly evil man - in fact, he showed a little more support to the island than most of the other Kingdoms did, including but not limited to things like Dust and produce. Surely he wouldn’t leave them hanging. Surely they would be able to finish the wall. Finally arriving at the small camp, Eve pulled out a folding lawn chair and propped it open under a small canopy before plopping down on it. Legs crossed, she leaned back and soaked up the sun’s rays, all while doing her best to keep an eye on the students. There was no doubt in her mind that today was going to be a breeze. Weather: Sunny, no clouds. Temperature: Warm, edging on cool. Date: January 21st, X1 Threat Level: Green Here's Eve.

Lavender Rose Lavender was sitting in the camp, monitoring the progress from her chair and keeping an eye on the students surrounding her. She had her two weapons with her, Sting on her right index finger, the pointed ring resting upon the bottle filled with black poison it dipped in. On her hip was Skorpio, the massive needle already filled with a single cartridge of darts and a vial of the same black poison. In a pouch resting on her belt was another three cartridges of darts and vials of poison for Skorpio. All of this was normal, along with her outfit of a navy blue blouse and combat skirt. What wasn't normal were the two leather bracelets she was wearing, each with three dust crystals in them. Each gauntlet was a red leather, stretching a point slightly onto each hand and with a red dust crystal embedded in said point. On each side of her wrist on the bracelets were an ice crystal and an energy crystal. Each of these had 5 uses before they ran out, and were primarily to be used with her semblance should she need them. As it was though, she rested in her chair sipping strangely purple tinted coffee from a mug, her stinger idly tracing circles on the ground beneath her. Lavender wasn't very talkative, and the only reason she was here was to insure none of her students got themselves killed if Grimm did end up attacking. Mizumi Tai Mizumi, for her part, was taking a break. She had arrived with her roommates, helping out where she could and doing what she was told, but now she was sitting on the ground in the camp. She had Blowback in rifle form on her hip, but nothing else in terms of equipment to use. She had just spent the last few hours helping the workers haul stone, and though she could carry more than most of the others the time had worn her out. She was coated in sweat and panting, drinking from a large bottle of water, draining it rapidly. Of course, while it was clear she was physically tired, there was a massive smile on her face and she was giggling between her pants. Reaching up and wiping some sweat from her brow, she heard a calm female voice from an earpiece hidden within her ear, the voice of her AI companion C.I.R.S.I. The yellow bulb was were it always was, embedded into her neck and attached to her spinal cord to allow her to move. "Be careful wearing yourself out with menial labor, remember your job is to protect these workers. You can not do that if you exhaust yourself carrying stones." Mizumi waved dismissively, aware that Cirsi could interpret that just as well as her words, and too out of breath to actually respond. She heard a hmph, then silence once again as she continued resting within the camp. She was glad she had volunteered to do this, not only did it offer a chance to get out and exercise in a different way, but if it came to it she was happy for the opportunity to use her training to protect people.

It had been about a month since Chrohn had joined back up with Vytal Academy. Life was radically different than what he was used to, for various reasons. The main being: He actually had to attend class, he was living with various people, and he had to put up with more people than he preferred to deal with on a regular basis. However, it wasn't all bad. The people he was rooming with were fun, although definitely unique.
Now, the stargazer was helping out with some construction for the school with the rest of his roomies, though the details as to what they were building slipped from his mind. Something about mainly being protection, but no one was attacking. This lack of activity led to Chrohn becoming bored and restless, and ultimately led to him actively helping the construction crew with their work, running about damn near endlessly carrying water and supplies from station to station. Chrohn wasn't the smartest, but he had strength and endurance under his belt.
Normally nice weather such as this would allow for his jacket to be worn normally, but due to all the hot, sweaty work he was doing his jacket was currently tied up almost like a skirt across his waist, covering up the waist mounted slot machine. The jacket itself was holding two Poker Chip cases that contained 40 chips each atop of what was already in the slot machine. Aside from his impromptu skirt, Chrohn was wearing what was basically his forging clothing, thus being the yellow tank top, and black cargo shorts and boots, with Lucky 7 strapped to his back. While weapons weren't needed at the moment, it would never hurt to be prepared in case something attacked or if someone needed a knife with a lot of leverage. And as per usual his hoverboard was nearby, though he had left it in the camp near Mizumi while he went around running errands for people.
Usually, it hurt Chrohn to be working on such a nice day like this, however seeing as there were no clouds, Chrohn couldn't care less about about the weather. His main daytime attraction was non-existent. On the bright side, he was out of class and actually doing something for a few...."I have no idea how long we are doing this," he muttered as he ran a container carrying several gallons of water to a group of workers. That took a few moment, and earned him a few awkward glances as he plowed through the area with cargo larger than what other people were carrying, and faster than they were carrying it.
After that was done, he started towards camp, plopping down with a soft thud near Mizumi. "Hey, Mizu, you see the other two weirdos around here lately?" After asking, he reached out and snagged a bottle of water before balancing it on his sweaty forehead. It felt cool, and it was nice to relax and stretch out a bit after working for a while.

Dusty was smiling cheerfully as he lugged gallons of water and other supplies around to the different stations. He waved and greeted everyone he passed by, sometimes pausing and asking what they were building, only to get the frustratingly simple answer that it was "a wall." He wanted to know a wall against who or what sort of threat to the school. That was the main reason for his current chumminess to everyone around him. He figured he could try and butter them up so they would let something slip, but no such luck. Dusty didn't think it was that they were hiding the information; it was just as likely they were as ignorant as he was in the matter. He didn't know if that reassured or unsettled him, though.
Dusty hoisted another gallon of water over his shoulder and walked over to another station. Sweat plastered his golden hair to his forehead as the sun beat down on top of him. That was another good thing, at least. The day was nice and he was outside doing something that wasn't school work. Manual labor was pretty common back in Setek and Dusty had come to find such work enjoyable. He waved to Professor Rose as he walked by her, with even more cheer than anyone else. He, and all of his roommates, had gotten out of her class today to do the work, which was especially good since he hadn't done his homework for her class.
Dusty dropped the gallon of water off at the station and walked back to camp, a water bottle in hand. He spotted his roommates sitting down on the grass, with his gear not too far behind. He had brought along his breast plate and gauntlets along for armor, with his quiver holding 60 arrows, Daybreaker, and his bandoleer with 20 bottles of Dust, 10 Steam and 10 Glass, lying next to it. He had thrown his bomber jacket over all of it in the hope that it would keep his equipment cool while he worked. As Dusty neared, he heard Chrohn ask where he and Ama were to Mizumi, to which Dusty responded by throwing some water from his water bottle at Chrohn's face. "One's right here," he said with a laugh as he plopped down next to Mizumi. He leaned forward to get a better view of Chrohn. "Remember, though. Today's all nice and sunny. Lots of shadows all around. You never know what might happen." He grinned mischievously at his roommate before leaning back and lying down on the ground with his hands behind his head. "Anyone got any ideas as to what we're trying to protect us from?"

Ama was sitting on the top of a Scaffold near the camp, swinging her legs and getting rather bored. She had, over the course of this, been banned from the machinery, due to a minor mishap, and then when she tried to help with her Semblance, she basically got ordered to go somewhere and wait to be needed. Who know a gravity Semblance would suck so much for lifting heavy objects?
Well, her Semblance didn't really make things lighter. It just made things fall in different directions from normal. How was she supposed to know that the Scaffold wouldn't be able to take a object and herself falling on it?
So now she was sitting here watching, with nothing to do. Seeing her Roomies gathering in the camp, She grinned, and activated her Semblance to fall at her partner, Chrohn, in a surprise Glomp. "Miss me?" She said with the most goofy grin she could manage. "I hope something happens soooooon! I'm getting Bored! And Boredom is the bane of all things!"
Over her time with the group, she had proven over and over that she was at her most frightening when she was bored. She didn't even try to do it. That made it even more so. By this point, her Roommates had had to deal with the situations her Boredom would cause several times now, so they, more than anyone else, know that they did not want her bored.
Ama's Stuff: Aura: 125/125 Gravity Dust Vials: 20/20, Current Vial Has 5/5 Charges Throwing Knives: 40/40 Slammer/Poker, currently in Slammer Form

Growing comfortable in the sunlight, Eve found herself almost dozing off in her chair. A sense of falling came over her, causing her body to jerk. She sat up, her body trembling from the sudden shock. This was, perhaps, a result of her increasingly irregular sleeping habits. Rubbing her eyes, Eve struggled to keep down a yawn. ‘Guess I should find something to do!’ She figured, looking around the camp for any sign of a task she could jump right in to. Helping build? Sure, that was a viable option. She didn’t want to step on the toes of the contractors, though. These men and women were working hard. The last thing they needed was her screwing something up.
Out of the corner of her eye, Eve caught a glimpse of one of the Academy teachers, Lavender Rose. She was sitting not too far away, there to chaperon the students that had signed up to help watch over the project. It was refreshing to see so many youth willing to put their time and energy into seeing the wall built with little-to-know hangups. Them getting credit despite not needing to attend class probably helped, too. With a slight chuckle, Eve slipped out of her chair and walked in the direction Lavender was sitting.
Approaching the woman, Eve waved in an attempt to draw her attention. “Heyyy, Professor Rose!” She called out with an almost singing tone. Standing proudly, Eve stopped about arms reach from Lavender, scanning the area full of students before looking up to the wall. Her anticipation for the thing finally being done definitely showed, her voice confident as she went about stirring some conversation. “So what do you think of it? Pretty cool, huh?” She asked, of course pertaining to the structure. “It’ll be nice to not have to worry about Grimm attacks anymore, hm?”

Lavender Rose Lavender looked up at Eve's words, nodding in acknowledgment and taking another sip of her coffee. Her stinger stopped circling the ground and the teacher looked around at the work going on around her. She shrugged and spoke, trying to think up an answer for Eve. "I suppose it will be useful. Less Grimm attacks on the island means less of my students running off into dangers they can't handle and getting themselves killed. So yes, I suppose it is, as you say, 'cool'." Lavender's gaze, while lightening over the course of her speech, darkened shortly after she finished. "We will still have to worry about their attacks though. Maybe they'll be less severe here, or more easily dealt with, but they will still be just as prevalent everywhere else. Perhaps more so even, and even with this wall someone will have to make sure Grimm don't learn how to climb it or try to break it down. But it will be nice having some of the burden of protecting the island from Grimm lifted." Lavender's dark words caused a few students who were close enough to hear them to shudder and walking further around her. She merely shrugged and took another sip of her coffee, sighing with a strangely cold smile upon her features. Mizumi Tai Before Mizumi could answer Chrohn's inquiry, both of the people he was asking about showed up and answered for her. Mizumi stayed mostly silent, giggling as Ama jumped onto Chrohn from above, a smile accompanying it as well. When Ama brought up the fact that she was bored though, Mizumi looked around rapidly for something to do. She had seen that Ama hadn't been working on the building of the wall itself, which meant either something happened or she didn't enjoy the work. "Hmm, well if you get too bored we could always spar. Personally I hope we build this wall without a hitch, I'd rather just get it out of the way and make the island safe sooner then pause and have to fight Grimm." Mizumi stretched her arms up, leaning back as she did so. While she knew she shouldn't overwork herself, she also knew that letting herself cramp up or relax too much would be bad. What if the Grimm suddenly show up, and she took too long to get up, causing one of the worker's deaths? That wasn't something she would do, so she stretched, putting her arms back down and smiling after a few moments.

At Dusty's question, Chrohn started gathering his thoughts for an answer, at least until his partner suddenly showed up, thusly knocking him over, landing atop him with his face firmly secure in her bosom as she landed an aerial surprise hug on him. As she did so, Chrohn basically shrieked as he fell over.
While Ama was soft, squishy and comfortable, she still had weight, as everything else in the universe does, and basically jumped onto Chrohn from a far, and ultimately succeeded in knocking the wind out of him, whether she meant to or not. The aggressively vulgar four year old was growing on him; yes, she tended to get on his nerves, but as they continued to hang out and train together, he found himself getting closer and closer with her, though she still had some aggravating tendencies, such as jumping on him.
As Chrohn rose, he patted his partner on the head, saying,"Yup, missed you enough to wonder where you were." And it was also around this time that a teacher that Chrohn wasn't too familiar with had shown up to chat with Lavender, or at least he assumed she was a teacher as most hunters didn't tend to hang around Vytal very often, especially when things were getting antsy. And it was then Chrohn shed a single tear, Ama had knocked over his water bottle and it spilled all over the ground.
Towards their conversation, Chrohn motioned, "Looks like there's your answer Dusty, an Anti-Grimm Wall, for an Anti-Grimm school, full of Anti-Grimm Students, who carry Anti-Grimm weapons. I was gonna give my thoughts on it earlier, but a certain gravity defying princess decided to jump me." With this he shrugged," I mean, to be fair, what else could a wall of this scale be used for, keeping out the pizza guy so we can get free pizza?" And then Mizumi and Ama started talking about boredom and sparring. It was an entertaining thought to say the least, but there were three thoughts that currently occupied the front of Chrohn's mind with this: What if we burn ourselves out while sparring? What if someone got too into the "zone" and stuff around the area pertaining to the construction started getting broken, and won't we need a ref?
The stargazer looked to the only other male in the group and said, "I'm personally against sparring for the moment at least. I'd rather be safe than sorry. I mean, we are building the wall to stop grimm from showing up, and who knows, maybe they might show up while we are sparring. Why don't we do something not physically exhausting like....uh.....Chess or....uh...." His mind trailed off as he thought of other ideas. "So Dustbuster, your thoughts on the proposed activity?"

Post by Zari D. Thorn on Jul 19, 2016 11:25:19 GMT -6
Zari had been tasked with protecting and remaining on Vytal since the day of his integration. The silver-haired teacher had been diligent in this task and always put this before his own well-being. Yet when the wall was being discussed and the construction began, he was left on the campus. Either to continue teaching, or as a back-up should the wall fail and Grimm advance on Vytal. While he was striped of many normal rights, Zari still had the right to put up a minor argument with the Headmaster. It is his job to teach yes, but he wanted to be at the wall! This was the first and only time Zari put up a fight about anything in the years since his stationing on the island.
Brush and leaves waved and blew in the air as Zari neared the wall. Only after a heated debate did Zari receive the blessing he sought. Dressed in his white dress shirt and grey vest, he passed through without getting any stains nor dirt on his clothes. Not too impressive for anyone skilled enough in just running and paying attention. However he did carried with him two tonfa in his hands, Midnight Thorn in it's wooden case, and a mysterious tank on his back. The cylinder was metallic in color and had a crude sheen to it. A small spout protruded from the bottom with several small tea cups clipped to the top of the tank.
After some time, he neared the camp, escaping the brush and entering the bright sunlight. His dust-weaved boots stomped as the man came to a halt. Taking in a deep breath after his long run, Zari slowly approached the camp site. "I see everyone is relaxed." His words dripped with disagreement. Putting both Tonfa's on the ground, Zari knelt down and dropped the tank onto the ground. Taking one of the tea cups, he used the spout to pour cold black tea for himself. "How are the students doing? Well I am sure. Stationed at their posts like good students?" He took a sip of his tea before looking over to the wall.

Dusty didn't reply to Chrohn for a moment as images raced through his mind. He was thinking back to his night alone in the woods, following a mysterious man and his ringing bell while a whole forest's worth of Grimm chased him down. He had learned his lesson in underestimating the capability of Grimm. One or two small ones at a time weren't two much trouble, but when the larger ones came out to play or a large group of the beasts came at once...
Dusty kept himself from shivering in fear. He sat up and looked at Chrohn with a confident smirk on his face. No one knew of his little escapade into the night and he planned to keep it that way. No need to have them asking questions about where he went or why he was there. Best to keep on a brave face and act like nothing was the matter. "You act as if I haven't used an Ice Dust arrow to freeze the pizza guy for half and hour before," he replied, his eyes shining mischievously. He turned his gaze to the ever growing Wall for a moment."It does seem kind of like a moot point. It's going to be our job to fight Grimm when we graduate, so why not let us practice on any unlucky beasts that wander to close to the school?" Of course, he didn't really believe that given his recent experiences, but he needed to keep up his confident exterior to prevent suspicion amongst his roommates.
"Mizumi's strong enough to spar for an hour, then go lift weights without so much as a single drop of sweat," Dusty stated matter-of-factly. "I say let them spar. Anything less physical won't stop Ama from complaining about being bored and snuggling up with her boy toy as a result." As he leaned back again, he shot Chrohn a mischievous grin. His actions alone showed what he was interested in doing: relaxing. The physical work would come soon enough, so he wanted to enjoy this short reprieve without anything else to do.
