Mizumi Tai |
★ APPEARANCE
Mizumi is massive, standing at 6’8 she towers over most everybody else. Her dark brown hair is most often contained in pigtails, barely hitting her shoulders. Her clothing is very sparse, and orange with trims of blue. Her purple eyes are soft and loving, though quite innocent and showcasing her inexperience. Her face is sharp and angular, though it doesn’t look harsh. On her hip is the 3 foot long rifle form of Blowback, the blue rifle glistening with its purple inlay. Underneath her hair on her neck is a small yellow bulb, the only visible part of C.I.R.S.I.
★ PERSONALITY
★ HISTORY
Mizumi was born with a terrible illness, one that blocked the neural pathways down her spine and paralyzing her from the neck down. No cure was known, but luckily her parents were renowned scientists and spent the majority of her childhood searching for a cure. Unfortunately, the cure was never found, and her parents feared their child would never move, never be able to do anything more with her life than sit in a bed or chair and never move a muscle. Mizumi’s childhood was spent in said beds and chairs, being cared for and assisted in every way possible, though she did need it.
Then her parent’s found a breakthrough, of a sort. Instead of finding a full cure for the disease, they found a way to circumvent the effects. A few friends who specialized in cybernetic enhancement helped, creating the Cybernetic Intelligent and Responding Spinal Implant, or C.I.R.S.I. Cirsi is an artificial intelligence program stored in a spinal implant, and was implanted to interpret and distribute the neural signals intended for the rest of her body. It worked, and with Circi’s assistance Mizumi finally took her first ever step at age 12.
C.I.R.S.I allowed Mizumi to walk and move like a normal person, and at that point the sheer strength of her body was finally revealed. For one, nobody quite realized just how tall she was, and she was about as strong as a normal person without ever having truly exercised. Once she was able to, she only got stronger. Her strength showed through even greater when she decided to use her newfound mobility to become a huntress and joined Vytal Academy.

★ COMBAT NOTES
WEAPONS
Mizumi’s weapon is Blowback, a massive weapon with a peculiar form of ammunition. The primary form Mizumi uses this weapon in is its melee form, a massive double ended warhammer. The shaft is about five and a half feet in length, with each head being three feet and ten pounds. The weapon is designed with kinetic dust crystals interlaced throughout the weapon, but they are tempered in a specific way to allow them to be “charged”. Every time the weapon impacts something with force-be it by blocking an attack or striking a target-two points are added to its charge value. Whenever she swings the weapon through the air one point is added to the charge value, stacking with the two from impact should the strike land. Mizumi can use twenty points of charge to increase the striking power of her next swing, although with her immense strength she hardly needs to use this function.
Blowback can also transform into a long rifle-about three feet in length-though it does not have any visible way to load bullets. The barrel is on the tip of the hammer, though the rifle functions of the weapon can’t be used in hammer form. For ten charge points, the rifle will fire a kinetic blast in the shape of a bullet and with a slightly greater force. However the rifle has no way to acquire charge points, requiring Blowback to be in hammer form to gain charge points, and in rifle form to use them as bullets. Mizumi can convert two aura points into ten effective charge points for her weapon, though the aura generated charge points can’t be saved. Blowback can store up to two hundred charge points at a time, but for every minute it remains still it loses ten charge points.
MISC.
Mizumi has access to C.I.R.S.I, an artificial intelligence implanted onto her spine. Cirsi, most primarily, allows her to move and if someone were to either remove or disable Cirsi it would cause Mizumi to lose her ability to move anything below her neck once again. However, Cirsi has many other uses, most primarily she is another pair of eyes and directly monitors the state of Mizumi’s body. Along with this, Mizumi has incredible natural strength. She is able to lift a hundred pounds with ease, and a few hundred with effort. Of course, her size and strength are counterbalanced by her speed, which is rather low.
Mizumi’s aura is a glowing blue, exerting a feeling of, whatever the person feeling it wants. She always panders to others, trying to please other people instead of herself. The overall defensive properties of her aura are quite high, though it is rather inefficient in other uses. Currently her aura ability is mending, though it is not very strong. In order to use her mending ability, she not only has to use her semblance and synchronize with them, but she has to spend an additional 10 aura points. This means it takes at minimum 20 aura points to do, and she begins to feel the pain of their injury as she heals them.
Synchronize
Synchronize is a strange semblance, one that showcases Mizumi’s incredible adaptability. It allows her to synchronize with another creature's aura. This shares some innate physical attributes, in that it boosts one person by the other’s most powerful physical trait. For instance, whoever Mizumi is synched with will get a large boost to their strength, and if Mizumi were to bond with someone incredibly fast she would get a boost to her agility. Both people also gain the ability to simply know what the other will do in combat. Utilizing this semblance Mizumi can join with another person to become an incredible and nigh perfect team.
While active, both peoples’ aura take on properties of the other’s. These are primarily feeling and color, though strange means of manifestation or other abilities having to do with the aura can transfer over as well. Along with this, the two can share aura point costs half and half, with odd numbers causing the extra to go to the original user. Both people must be willing to share these costs, and neither can simply drain the other’s aura. This does not transfer the ability to use aura abilities, as those are exclusive to specific people’s auras and training, simply linking will not instantly grant training Mizumi or others don’t have.
Being synched causes the two to move with the exact same rhythm on the battlefield, flowing in the exact same way and looking almost as if they were twins in fighting. This also means the two can’t actually hit each other unless both choose to, after all they not only know what the other will do but have the exact same battlefield rhythm. Of course, being so in sync does have its drawbacks. Most prominently, when one takes a hit the other takes it as well, at least they might as well have. They feel the exact impact, lose aura as if they were hit, and suffer all the repercussions of the strike. This effectively doubles the damage of every attack on either of them, except the additional damage goes to a different person. If they were both to take the same hit, from a large cleaving attack for instance, they each would take the hit twice.
Synchronize is a very expensive semblance, though for what it does it is well worth the cost. To activate it Mizumi must spend 15 aura points right at the start. Then every thirty seconds an additional 10 must be spent, although 5 of it can be spent by the person Mizumi is synched with. Mizumi can sync with unwilling targets, however they can spend 5 aura points to break the rhythm and disorient Mizumi for a few seconds. Emotional state also transfers across the link, and because of this Mizumi only synchronizes with people she knows and trusts, or at the very least asks before doing it.
