KENNETH ALMIAS
APP ■ 19 ■ male ■ roguish BARD ■ Vytal student (Sophomore) ■ Human I looked out this morning and the sun was gone Turned on some music to start my day I lost myself in a familiar song I closed my eyes and I slipped away LET'S BE REAL, him fighting Grimm alone is out of the question. It isn't feasible since that would result in him getting ripped to shreds. Kenny is a musician at heart and his abilities benefit others. While not the most honest of individuals, he's courteous and supports his allies, both in battle and just dealing with the day to day grind. His curiosity does get him in trouble but he's quick-witted enough to get out of most situations. Signing on with him is a life-long commitment in his eyes, as his trust is difficult to earn. Those that break that trust usually earn a great deal of scorn from the young guitarist.
"WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM MY FRIENDS"
Friends come and go but it's nice to share a song while they're around. Kenny had been going to Vytal for awhile prior to hiatus, meeting people and even befriending them. It wouldn't be outside the realm of possibilities that he knows more people in the classes above him. He does come across as a bit of recluse, maybe even a troublemaker, but he's a good guy once he opens up to someone. He takes his studies seriously and spends time reading up on legends of buried treasure, hoping to go after them someday. If he had a few companions along the way, all the better. Past friendships are fine, as they'd make sense. He's been away for a long time so he's not too aware of currents events. That said, friendships are a bit difficult for him start off as he is sort of withdrawn but the more he has, the more he can be himself.■ friend ■ friend "KNOW YOUR ENEMY"
Conflict exists in life and anger creates the most visceral, soul searching music around. Kenny has had to wrestle with bottling his hatred for years so it's something he's familiar with. While not inherently an aggressive person, the young man does have a habit of deceiving others to suit his needs. And that does breed a particularly violent response. Apparently most people don't like being tricked or lied to. Ironically, he doesn't like being lied to either and if you break his trust, he will harbor a deep seeded resentment. As said, he prefer to trick others to get his way or at the very least to make them leave him alone. A spurned lover, a friend that feels betrayed, or someone he's pissed off is totally possible. ■ enemy/rival ■ enemy/rival "FOOLED AROUND AND FELL IN LOVE"
One of the bedrocks for a good song, no string compares to those that are pulled from the heart. While he's generally tight-lipped about any past relationships, it's not impossible that he's at least gone on a few day. He is a young man, after all, and he's not ashamed to admit that his musical expertise does tend to draw people towards him. That said, he's not one to actively go looking for a relationship since his priorities are on his studies and treasure seeking opportunities. I'd be willing to do current love interest if it was well developed over time but overall not looking to head in that direction. Past relationships are fine if they don't fall under the friend/rival sections.■ love OTHER
I'll be putting other things together, this is just a place holder till I figure them out.

I'm in need of some threads, so I thought I'd put together something to maybe pique some peoples' curiosity. I'm not too keen on begging in the cbox for a thread, I like a little more structure than that and don't like sounding needy. So, without further ado...
::-::Relics of the Past::-::
To start off, there are five instruments like Ken’s guitar. They have their own unique abilities and while they may seem like an odd mixture of instrument and weapon, they reach their true potential under Ken’s semblance, Bard’s Song. The first three he already knows about, or rather was told about them from his father. Ken just has to figure out where they could be and what they are.
He has no obligation to look for these relics, even more-so when you consider that his father told him to stay away because they’re cursed. Never one to shy away from his overbearing curiosity, he is driven to find these relics if only because it’s all he has left besides a desire to become a Hunter and eradicate Grimm. These are a few names Ken has written down from his father’s ramblings…
Baikal of the Naiads
- The Myth: An old tale of fairies granting a man the ability to sing to fish, causing a village to thrive from a lake that was once barren of life. As with most fables, the man grew greedy and the fairies drowned him in the lake, turning the fish into Grimm and leading the village to ruin.
- The Details: A myth passed around by small villages, it seems to originate in the Kingdom of Rift. There are some small lakes said to be invested with sulfur and people stay away because of the appeal it has for Grimm.
- Key Clues: Baikal, fairies, villages surviving in inhospitable locations
Unceg of Silver
- The Myth: It tells of a woman who could capture the favor of anyone with just a song she hummed. Man, woman, child, it mattered not. She was a merchant who earned a fortune but was killed by the silver arrow of a faunus bandit. It is said she came back as a ghost, summoned by the humming of her song, ready to steal the lips off naughty faunus children.
- The Details: A tale out of Pinnacle. A simple fairy tale used to frighten children into behaving, though some scholars claim that Unceg was a real woman from long ago though the Vytal library’s records don’t give any further details than that.
- Key Clues: Unceg, urban legend, lips, silver arrow
Aylith the Siren This is Ken’s current weapon and instrument, a guitar his father passed down to him and forced him to learn after his mother’s death. More information can be found “here” but the guitar is the reason why he doesn’t believe his father’s claims of a curse as he has been using Aylith for years.
- The Myth: While he already holds Aylith in his possession, he finds the myth behind the fabled “siren” to be interesting, if a bit tragic. A beautiful woman who once lived in a coastal town, she fell in love with a sailor from across the sea. Every day he would tell he may die at sea and she would smile and reassure him she would sing every day at sunrise to make sure he’d get home safe.
Years went by and this ritual would continue for the happy couple, the woman having a golden voice akin to a harp that the sailor swore he heard no matter how far he sailed. Yet one day the man never returned. She’d sing again and again, to no avail. Many men began to hear her, flocking to her as potential suitors but she only wanted her sailor. The men and women that came swore love for her, claimed tremendous feats they accomplished because of her voice. Inspiration was taken by madness when the woman stopped singing. Unable to bear the loss and overwhelmed by others, she had cast herself into the sea. There her spirit waits on the rocks, luring sailors to their demise.
- The Details: This is an old Setek story, actually turned into a play. While Aylith isn’t the name of the woman, the story of the siren is well-known, especially in Setek. Though his father laughed viciously at him when Ken asked if the guitar was named after the woman, even going so far as to say the already sad story had even more ruthless background.
Now, this was just some information that would help with building upon threads. Ken is, after all, still a Vytal student so there wouldn’t be too many chances for him to explore so I would like to build-up to the end of “recovering” a relic. There will be phases broken up into threads, but the last two can be combined into one.
- Research. One of our characters knows something about the tale, or has heard something. After listening to Kenneth play and maybe hearing him out once they got to know one another, it would interest the other character(s). Hence the "detail" sections listed above.
- Travel. Self-explanatory
- Discovery. Tracking down the myth, finding out it’s an instrument, and going to fetch it. Be it in the hands of some merchant, or a group of bandits, or quite possibly even a crypt.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~::~~~~~~~~~~::~~~~~~~~~~~~~~::~~~~~~~~~~
I do have a theme of water about all these (which would be explained at a later date), there are myths and legends tied into the names and some of the stories. Some based on current mythologies, maybe with a touch here or there to make it somewhat unique. If this goes well, I’ll add more.
This is what I have in mind for his own personal plot outside of participating in any world-arching/changing plots. We’ll see how far I can get with this. If you’re interested (and actually managed to make it through all that), feel free to PM me or post here. Thanks! ^__^
