★ APPEARANCE
By no means is Kenneth an intimidating fellow. Lean and standing at five-foot-ten, it doesn't help that he keeps his head most of the time as if to keep himself from being noticed. Despite that, the young man is in impeccable shape and he has to be to be able to use his guitar, Aylith. His hands, most noticeably his fingertips, are calloused and rough.
His hair is blond and messy, though at times he will brush and keep it maintained if he feels bothered enough to do it. Wearing it short, Kenneth has contemplated shaving it all off for many years simply because he hates when his hair gets in his face. While he has no glaring disfigurements, upon closer inspection his nose does seem to lean slightly to the right and has a bump along the bridge as if he had broken it many times. His eyes are an aqua blue, though because he seems tired all the time they lack a certain gleam.
Kenneth likes to dress casual when he can. A simple grey hoodie and dark blue jeans, paired with beige boots is his usual ensemble. It's inconspicuous and he likes to fly under the radar, hence the drab colors. That's not to say he doesn't change his clothing, this is just what he normally wears.
While not particularly stylish, he does change up his outfits depending on the season. Trying to stick with a motif of neutral colors doesn't always work out as he will sometimes spot an article of clothing he likes the look of. A dark blue jacket that can either be buttoned or zipped up with a wide collar and a hoodie is one of his favorite winter clothes. And to contrast the heavy clothing, during summer he wears bright shirts with a variety of different designs among them.
Accessories vary, though he is always seen with a pair of black headphones that he can plug into his guitar. Over the years he has gotten a few ear piercings though he usually forgets about them and has to get them done again. Kenneth also wears a few different rings and a couple of bracelets, ranging from black leather to brightly colored metal.
★ PERSONALITY
★ HISTORY
Kenneth has always been gifted with musical instruments. At a young age his parents, Alexander and Odette, would take him to the village docks to play. At first all he had was a worn-down flute but it was enough to entertain the occasional passerby. This earned his family the extra money to live comfortably. Mind you, they were already well off, his mother captained a small fishing vessel and his father maintained the lighthouse that doubled as their home. For all intents and purposes, they were comfortable and Kenneth enjoyed adding to household with his older sisters gone off to the academy.
However, and there always is one in a story of humble beginnings, not all things remained tranquil in a land where catastrophe could be just around the corner. A storm hit the coast, one worse than the village had ever seen. It brought with it raging waters that scuttled many vessels. Those that braved the storm…well, the people who survived described Grim boarding the ships. The surface of the turbulent waters teased at giant forms of nightmarish creatures. His mother was among many others who never returned. Despite the village taking such a devastating hit, they had no choice but to press on.
His father blamed himself, never one to argue with his strong-willed mother who saw an opportunity in the danger to turn a profit. The man holed himself up in his home, Kenneth doing his best to take care of him. It was difficult for him at such a young age, his older sisters never replying to his letters. He even considered quitting music, going so far as to break his flute. This enraged his father, brought out something terrible in the otherwise docile man. It was then that the beatings started. Given an old guitar named Aylith, which was obtained during his father’s younger days, it was all the boy could do to lift this thing that was more a weapon than an instrument.
It wasn’t till he played this guitar in public that people began stopping what they were doing to listen. No longer was it something entertaining in the background. Ambient noise to the hustle and bustle of a busy trade hub. This was simply captivating, almost haunting. When people came to the village to hear him play, it was as if the notes danced in the air and pulled them from the corners of the world. Lulled in, as if he was playing each song just for that individual. A somber tone seemed to settle on the village when Kenneth had to leave for the Academy but the boy took his chance and never looked back.
He made some friends, played his guitar when he could though mostly in solitude. Kenneth could forget his past for a few years and focus on his studies, which broadened his views on the world. It wasn’t till the end of his Freshman year that he received notice of his father’s sickness. Swallowing his pride, Kenneth left the academy to tend to his ailing father. A year later, Kenneth learned more secrets from his father than he ever imagined or knew existed. A hunt for a collection of treasures from the old world and a curse for those that find them.
That bitter, vindictive attitude never left the old man. His own self-loathing had pushed away everyone he cared about, his wife’s name on his lips when he finally passed away. That was enough for Kenneth not to completely resent him, even admit to loving his father for who he was and not who he had become. Kenneth was welcomed back to the academy though he had a lot of catching up to do, being a year behind his peers. Thoughts of buried treasure did play in his mind but becoming a hunter seemed far more pressing. There were Grim that needed a grand finale, and he didn’t want to disappoint.

- Kenneth prefers to be called Kenny or sometimes Ken. Kenneth makes him feel like he's done something wrong.
- Kenneth's family is originally from Setek. His sisters are pretty much no-shows during the harder times of his life and he tries not to resent them for that. One has run off with a lover, supposedly to start a family and has never looked back. The other is a huntress who works within the Kingdom of Legion.
- Chances are those stories of ancient treasure will come across his path. He's going to need all the help he can get when he decides to embark on those adventures.
- These events in his life has made it to where he bottles a lot inside. He has strayed from the course of being a bright, enthusiastic individual. He'll need that helping hand to break out of his shell.
★ COMBAT NOTES
WEAPONS
Aylith the Siren
A guitar made of wood and a reinforced interior of copper, weighing at almost two-hundred pounds. The strings are Dust infused osmium metal, highly resistant to most elements with an equally impressive tensile strength. A carving curves around one side of the instrument, a design of a mermaid reaching behind the string and her tail curving around the bottom to show her fin on the other side in an elegant design. Her face, created with the utmost detail, almost looks like a living creature.
Aesthetics aside, Aylith is used for more than just creating music. Its strings allow Kenneth to project his aura and activate his semblance. While the young man can certainly use other instruments to the same extent, Aylith is special in that she has specific functions in regard to his semblance. Notably defensive and hindering abilities. Yet there's more, for Aylith can transform into a set of gauntlets that can project and retract the strings within.
The transformed state is a tad oversized and heavy, a surprise that Kenneth can even lift them. While the copper interior does make up the majority of the encasing, the wooden mermaid tail wraps around his left arm. A whirling pulley system is encased in a transparent shell, showing the strings being pushed and pulled within. The strings themselves are the reason why the guitar weighs so much and can sometimes take on a teal glow depending on his mood. Having a tensile strength of ten thousand and reaching a maximum distance of 100 yards, they can lift his entire body weight and more, providing Kenneth with a lot of mobility. Not to mention the damage he can cause if he struck something with these strings at full force.
MISC.
His aura is that of violet, a color that could be associated with the sky of a setting sun. It vibrates softly around him, expanding in a steady tempo like that of a musical beat. To some it smells of wisteria, a gentle scent that focuses the mind. When he is agitated, it becomes duller and faded. On the other hand, when he is excited or happy it reverberates a more consistent beat, strengthening to an almost bright magenta hue.

The Bard's Song
Kenneth isn’t good at communicating with others so he expresses himself through music. It resonates from his aura, the sound cascading from the rhythm and tone of his instrument to captivate the listener. His music always seems specially crafted just for the individual listening. It connects his aura with others, inspiring them to strive for more. The Bard's Song doesn’t stop at a mere feeling of inspiration, for it is an enhancement, and sometimes a diminishing, of another’s aura.
It has taken him many years to fine tune his playing to suit specific needs. To this day he is still learning.
There is more to it than just the projection of his soul connecting with others. He has to have the right instrument to play. While he has experimented with many different instruments, from woodwind to percussion, nothing captivates others quite as well as a guitar.
Aylith the Siren
Hear the ocean in serenity and catastrophe.
His custom-made guitar, Aylith, seems to sway more in a supportive role than a more aggressive play-style. It can enhance defensive and offensive abilities one step further than they are capable of, stacking onto an individual's Aura abilities. Sometimes, if he focuses, he can even slow the movements of his opponents and delay their reaction time.

MISC.
- Kenneth usually has on him a set of over the ear headphones that have been modified as amplifiers. Though it may seem he can use them to increase the distance his music could be heard, they double as sonic emitters. When tuned to the right frequency, depending on the person or type of Grim, it can cause great discomfort and even intense nausea that could fell even the largest foe.
- As a last ditch form of defense, Ken also carries great deal of knifes tucked into his boots. Ten total to be exact. While not proficient in hand to hand combat, he does have halfway decent aim when throwing projectiles.
- Kenneth will obtain other instruments along his journey, adding to his arsenal and increasing the capabilities of his Bard's Song.
