★ APPEARANCE
If you needed to describe Vanessa to someone with few words, the right ones would be Simplistic, but eye-catching. Her hair is long and goes all the way to the middle of her back if let free, but she prefers it being held in a ponytail by a blue ribbon. It also has this strange thing when it comes into contact with light, the area illuminated turning into a green shade of color from its usual blue. Alongside her blue hair, she has aqua-blue eyes, who really charm whoever she meets. That's something she hates, because it gives her the nickname of "Aqua-eyed girl" and they call her that more often than by her true name. Alongside her eyes, she uses a pair of red glasses, which creates a contrast. She has a slim body, standing at 5'4 and being underweight by just a bit, weighting 119 lb. As for her measures, she's isn't gifted on either fronts, being painfully average. She hopes that life isn't so cruel on these last years of growth, and that she gets something worth to look at.
As for clothing, she prefers to keep it simple, and not go overboard with tight, fancy clothing and jewerly. Her day-to-day outfit consists of a deep-blue shirt that looks a few numbers above her size, a pair of brown pants alongside a par of black and white All-Stars shoes, which are completed by a pair of cat-stamped socks. She really haves an obsession with those. Last but not least, it's her necklace, which is made with pretty stones from a river close to her home. It is one of the things she protects the most, since it's the only thing she has from her family, and brings her a good feeling of protection on her years in Vytal.
★ PERSONALITY
★ HISTORY
Vanessa was born and grew up in Setek. Her family, two merchants who unified their business at first just to get more money, but they soon developted a relationship that gave birth to two girls, Vanessa and Fanhelia. Vanessa was born four years before the birth of Fanhelia, and therefore was the older sister. Their childhood was very happy, given they were daughters of merchants, they didn't really lack anything when it came to food, clothing or toys. It was a good time of their lives, and even if the sisters weren't good at sports, they still had a handful of friends around the town. Especially one cat faunus named Serena who had her head constantly patted by the sisters. Even if that embarrassed her a little, they're close friends to this day.
Problems started to appear when they started to teach them the job that it being a merchant. While Fanhelia was all into it, Vanessa wasn't. She didn't find the art of being a good merchant appealing, but given it was her family asking her, she agreed. She then started to go around a forest nearby their house, picking up fruits and anything that might be interesting to sell. One day, she invited Serena to search with her. Given a cat's nature of being attracted to shiny things, it would be easier for them to find something of value.
After some time of searching, they ended finding a gold pendant on a bush. They didn't exactly knew why it was there, but they didn't bother looking for the owner. It was theirs now. Not much time after that, a bandit, who looked like a giant to the two kids, looked at them, a gun pointed at their face. He shouted for them to give it back, but they refused, saying that it was theirs. When he was almost shooting the gun at them, a slashing sound could be heard. He falls right in front of them, which were hugging each other in fear by now.
The man who saved them never told his name, but told that he was a hunter and that he was passing by the kingdom to rest. The girls then thanked him, and runned back to the city. While Serena went to not leave her house for an entire week in fear, Vanessa became interested on that man. She followed him on her free time and started to pester him until he finally gave up on ignoring her and started listening. He told her everything about the Hunters and how they fight the Grimm and save the day. He also showed her his gun. It looked like a regular rapier, but it also had a pistol and a trigger-like structure on its hilt.
Vanessa was so excited when she heard about the Hunters. She could go on a life of adventures, wander around the world and be known as a hero. That sounded way too good for her to not choose instead of a life as a merchant. She then made a promise to the hunter, which was leaving the next day: "The next time we meet, is when you are going to see me as the best huntress in activity!". He smiled, and pat the girl before going to the Inn he was sleeping on, and left on the next day.
Vanessa couldn't exactly contain her excitement, and told her parents that being a huntress was what she wanted as a job. They, of course, were reluctant to let their small snowflake go fight the menace that is the Grimm and at first did not agree with the idea, but after a lot of whining and crying, she managed to get a deal with them. Being 10 then, she had just a few years before being sent to Vytal for training. So, if she managed to get enough money to pay for a workshop to make her weapon, after she came back from the training she would have their permission to use it and start the hunter training.
Those years passed like a breeze, and on the last day of the time-limit, she had almost enough, but was out of stock and it was too late to gather items. She started to cry close to her caravan, thinking that her dream was lost. But all of a sudden, a female shy voice comes to talk to her. It was Serena, worried about her. Vanessa then explained everything and as she started to walk away, a glimpse of hope ignited on her heart, and with that, a sudden memory came to her. The golden pendant. It stayed with Serena on the rush back to the city, and since she stayed home for an entire week, she pretty much forgot about it. She asked Serena about it, and the luck goddess was smiling for her in that day, because Serena had it with her. They went to a local jewelry shop, and sold the pendant. It was barely enough to complete the amount that she needed. As they walked out, she hugged Serena as tight as she could, thanking her with all her soul. And as Serena was saying that it was no big deal, Vanessa kissed her in the cheek and ran to her house, leaving the faunus with a mix of confusion, embarrassment and happiness.
As she came back home with the money she needed, the first reaction from her parents was shock.. Their parents didn't expect the results being positive, but they kept their word and asked her what she wanted. She then described the rapier-pistol weapon that the hunter had, and they, even if still reluctant, agreed.
After she came back from the four years that every citizen has to go through, she received her weapon from her parents. The weapon was an order from the Kovac Workshops, and it had a small cat symbol on the base of the hilt. When she asked why that was there, they told her that a fellow faunus friend had suggested it. Said friend which was training now to join her into Vytal. Serena.
With that said, she waved goodbye to every one of her friends, before taking the trip to the Vytal Academy, smiling as she thought about her bright future.

★ COMBAT NOTES
WEAPONS
Her weapon, which still wasn't named, is a mix of a pistol with a rapier sword. The pistol is a medium-sized one, and it's strapped on the hilt of the blade. The sword also comes with a custom handle, made to include a trigger on it. The handle also has a custom cat symbol on it's base, which she asked the forger himself to put it on there. The gun itself works as a weapon of medium fire-power, but high accuracy. The gun is removable, allowing for further upgrades or replacement without having to damage the rapier to remove it.
The weapon also has a sheath, which the primal materials are light iron and cloth, making it a good beatstick if Vanessa wants to. The sheath has a strap, which makes her able to carry it on her back, which is better than putting it on her waist. The last striking detail on it is a symbol of two flames coiled together on the right side of the pistol, that being the Symbol from the Kovac Workshops. She carries with herself 8 magazines of 10 bullets each, making it a total of 80 normal bullets. Plus, she has four special magazines, each one of them carrying five bullets infused with one of the four primary Dust elements, making them 20 dust-infused bullets, which sums up to a total of 100 bullets.
MISC.
Vanessa has somewhat of an utility belt, on which she carries various things she could use in battle. Those things include a pouch of sand for the eyes of any Grimm or bandits. A small bag with some money, which she throws at enemies as a form of distraction. Her canteen, which she fills with water and can be seen drinking from it on the breaks from each or in the middle of the fight itself. A pack of magazines to reload her weapon, and four special magazines, each one being painted with a different color, to simbolize each of the four Dust primary elements. In those magazines, she keeps her special bullets, which are of each of the four types: Earth, Fire, Air and Water. She only carries one of each, so she's only uses them as a last resort.
AURA
Her Aura has a beautiful turquoise color to it, and it transfers the feeling of success to everyone around. The feeling of being the target of a standing ovation after a flawless performance, the feeling of having just won the biggest tournament of your life. The feeling of being able to grab a oportunity of a life-time. The smell of champagne, gold, confetti and the taste of victory itself is felt by anyone near when she unleashes her Aura. But the Aura also emanates something way more important, it emanates hope on it's most primal form, the kind of hope that one can't explain why they can feel it, they just do. The hope that only appears on the glimpse of defeat, but that ignites a flame inside you that makes you feel like you can move mountains. That's the hope Vanessa's Aura spreads.
Hope. The feeling that fuels the never-ending chase for one's goals and dreams, the emotion that pushes you towards your objective. It makes you think that you will be the king of the world. The word that's used to motivate armies to risk their lives for people that they may never met in life, just to see their beloved kingdom shine bright. The word that has the power to gather people of all colors, races and nationalities to grab hands and help each other, without discrimination or suspicion, so that they can turn the world into a better place. That's the power of Hope, which is the first to help, but the last to fade.
Vanessa pushes herself forward towards her dream with many sources of fuel. The wish to impress her parents, to prove herself to the hunter who inspired her, the determination that leads her into wanting to have her name in outdoors and monuments. But the main fuel of her dreams is Hope. She hopes that she will turn into a huntress, she hopes that she may serve as inspiration for the young. But her biggest dream is to write her name in the Book of History as the best huntress there is, the best there ever was, and the best that will ever be.
As for its uses, she can concentrate some of her Aura to create a barrier in front of her, shielding her from attacks, at a cost of 10 AP. She's trying to learn how to use her Aura in an offensive way, but since they only teach that at the Senior Class, she's having to use books to learn, which makes it a slow but steady journey to learn said use of the Aura.
SEMBLANCE
Victorious AegisVanessa wants to turn into a strong huntress for one single reason. To be able to protect the ones she loves and cares about. The encounter with the bandit a long time ago awoke that feeling on her. She wants not only the strenght and willpower to protect the world, but also to overcome her fears, and helps other to do as such. For them to be able however, they need a protective figure by their side, and that's the figure Vanessa wants to be.
Her Semblance creates a dome of Turquoise Aura around a certain area, protecting everything inside it. It symbolizes her wish to protect everyone around her, making them believe that victory is possible even at the worst times. The shield is very durable, being able to withstand the force of three small rockets before shattering. She uses 10% of her AP to protect herself, and can go up to 50% to cover a 15 feet radius.
