PLAYED BY Derpfestor Seventeen (17) June (06) | Male Freshman Human | |
Tote, Col |
★ APPEARANCE
Col has a lean physique, which often leads to him being questioned about the validity of his transcripts (Despite his dainty appearance, the use of Aura renders muscle mass pointless, which explains his ability to lift his weapons with each hand individually). However, while he is lean it is not out of any lack of exercise but a sheer lack of fat, so his body is pretty much just muscles, skin and bones due to his inability to eat large amounts of food at any one point. Col's eyes, skin and even his hair are fairly pale, his eyes a shade of blue pale enough to barely be recognizable, his hair nearly completely white for all but a few brown streaks. Generally, he keeps his appearance hidden under a hoodie, jeans and his glasses which make him hard to recognise. With more suitable clothing, his physique is often compared to that of a runner.
★ PERSONALITY
★ HISTORY
Ironically, Col's emotional nature (a fickle thing at the best of times) was the reason behind his commitment to mathematics. Because he burst out like this quite often, he sought out a way to isolate himself from others, as even at that young age he understood that while the emotional outbursts were only for a second, they affected others for much longer. This need to isolate himself and his natural affinity for all things logic-based fuelled his mathematical abilities, and eventually his parents found his strong suit. Despite what it may seem, Col had no particular fondness for his skill or anything about it, after all, it'd originally been a coping mechanism, but now he was being pressed into doing it increasing amounts by both his teacher and parents. Not only did it give him headaches, and feel so tedious, it had turned from a way to isolate himself as the reason behind his isolation. Because he was so young (and yet attended classes with far older students) he'd never made any friends, instead he simply worked on the equations on the board. In another twist of fate, his mathematical ability lead him to work on a little equation which combined hedonistic values and utilitarian values to let him calculate how he could create the greatest positive impact on overall "net pleasure" for all around him. With this, he learnt that he could best better the world with a career as a Huntsman, and following that, much like his more conventional education, he trained and trained until he was good enough to become the student that I describe now. Despite that his current occupation is a student at Beacon, he continues to use his mathematic expertise as a consultant for Atlas Dust to help out with their chemical engineering department.

★ PERSONALITY
POSITIVE - Col is a genius at applied mathematics (Things like game theory, cognitive emergence theory, etc.) - He hits off conversations easily with those who share the same interests - He has a very playful way of talking... to say the least (Innuendoes, and lots of them) - He's very affectionate of those around him - Col constantly remains steadfast in his ideals | NEGATIVE - He lives in his head a lot - He bottles up his negativity and releases it in an incredibly emotional outburst, usually directed at whoever does the slightest thing to anger him. - His coping mechanism is his work (Applied maths, to be precise) - Outside of his maths, (especially socially speaking) he can be quite clueless - Col becomes emotional easily |

★ COMBAT NOTES
WEAPONS
Col uses two pump-action shotguns, one which fires incendiary shotgun shells (Sometimes called Dragon's Breath) or Fire Dust for that extra punch, whereas the second one fires Ice Dust. The second shotgun's rounds can slow down enemies, or in cases when pummeled with enough shells, can completely stop an enemy in their tracks. Respectively, they are named Ember and Snowflake. Despite their pretty names and exteriors (each of which are painted with their respective elements) they are disgustingly brutal as melee weapons. Ember has two axeheads attached to the barrel, and for extra melee capabilities a sharpened pole can be inserted into the barrel itself, turning the shotgun into a poleaxe. Just in case of extra-large Grimm, this pole can be fired with the speed and force of a battering ram, though since there's only one pole, he reserves it for emergencies only. Snowflake on the other hand, has an underbarrel mallet. You heard that right. An underbarrel mallet. While its size and appearance are massively impractical, it serves a very practical purpose. Grimm armour, once turned brittle by Ice Dust can be easily shattered with enough force, which was the reasoning behind putting a massive hammer under a shotgun.
MISC.
Col has several pouches of elemental dust, which he requests as payment from Atlas for his services. However, this means that if those pouches are targeted, the volatile substances within them could very easily go off. However, what this means is that he can go many, many fights without having to restock, with enough to spare that he can hand them to his friendlies. However, he doesn't just have his Dust to rely on. When things get hairy and his shields are gone, he can always rely on his 50. Desert Eagle, and a set of Dust-filled disks, each with explosive capabilities. Some are designed to incapacitate, whereas others are meant to dispatch enemies with as much speed as possible.
Col's aura is a pulsating coal-ish shade, dependent on his mood or physical state, it can be a sickly, static-looking and hard to look at or a fuzzy, comforting shade. He has about as little control over the appearance of his aura as he does his emotions, which might fluctuate at any moment. Generally, depending on how "in focus" he is with his surroundings, the feeling that this aura gives off ranges from a dream-like coldness, like one that you might get from an existential crisis to grounded and constantly energetic. Currently, he possessses the abilities of Mending.
Overreaction
Col's Semblance reflects his tendency to emotionally overreact, not just when he pents up emotions, but also simply because he becomes emotional easily. Just like his own nature, it redirects things. When Col wants to, he avoids issues and conflict in an almost childish way, and when he pents up anger this redirects itself at whoever next angers him even slightly. One of his more frowned upon traits makes an appearance in his Semblance. That would be his constant deflection of blame to someone else, or something else, a habit he'd never gotten rid of as a child. Much like his own emotional outbursts, they last only for an instant, even then, they can have significant effects which stay around for however long his environment allows it to. In an environment where people are forgiving, the effects last only as long as his embarrassment or regret.
What his Semblance does is it changes the direction of movement, thus allowing him to deflect attacks, or concentrate the force of an attack, or for simple takedowns which send his enemy to the floor. In truly dire situations he can completely reverse the direction his enemy attacks him from, sending them straight into the floor with just as much force. He can also use it for evasion. Say he jumps into the air and someone intercepts him, what he can do is change the direction of his movement so that he goes downwards, dodging the attack and giving him a chance to retaliate. Offensively, he can use it to send all of the force of a melee attack (or in his case, a hammer) into an area the size of a bullet, blowing a hole through armour and flesh, or he can change the direction of his shotgun shell shards, either shrinking the spread to roughly the width of the original shell or homing them onto a particular tricky target.
