[attr="class","likedotitle2"]THE KINGDOMS OF REMNANT
[attr="class","likedoinfo"]In the world of Remnant, all major settlements are found within one of the four main Kingdoms, each one taking up an entire continent - or in Rift and Setek's case, sharing large portions of one. Each Kingdom varies from the other, be it in the form of their military presence, their government, training Hunters, or more. It is important to consider where your character is from when you create them, as it is sure to influence both how they interact with the world and other players - and how they interact with you.
Located in what was once known as Vale, the Kingdom of Rift sits as one of the four leading powers in Remnant today. Unlike the other Kingdoms, Rift is ran by the Council of Elders, though the Royal Family sits as the “face” of the kingdom. Society as a whole is broken up into four main social classes - lower, middle, upper, and noble - and each one interacts with the others differently. Technology is of the same level as the rest of the world, albeit slightly above that of Pinnacle and Setek, and slightly below that of Legion.
Much like their namesake and predecessors, the Kingdom of Legion is most prominently known for its grand military presence. Legion society is predominantly focused on bolstering their militia, designated as the largest peacekeeping body of Remnant. Societal norms are more focused on equality in both what members give and take. Technological advancements are often in the name of defense against the Grimm more so than anything else. Whilst some societal ethics can be seen as a bit grim in the view of other Kingdoms, Legion citizens understand the burden of their responsibilities and happily serve their kingdoms in the name of peace and honor.
Unlike the rest of Remnant, the Kingdom of Pinnacle has adopted a very different mindset on how the day-to-day governing of their kingdom should be done. Every year, the entire Kingdom (or those wishing to participate) hold a town hall to discuss kingdom law and make amendments if needed. This is often a point of criticism from the other kingdoms, but it nevertheless works for the people. Nearby in the city of Cela, the Monastery offers guidance if requested. The overall technology level of Pinnacle is relatively average compared to the rest of the world, with the kingdom instead focusing on expanding Pinnacle’s impressive entertainment district, which draws tourists from around the world.
Possibly the largest exporter of day to day goods in Remnant, Setek is an impressive display of human ingenuity in the face of great adversity. Logging, mining, fishing - producing many products through these means and more is the driving force of Setek’s economy. The Kingdom is led by a figure known as the Governor, who is elected bi-annually by the people, and often times is re-elected many times in a row. Society as a whole is similar to that of Legion or even Pinnacle, with everyone getting out what they put in. Many people move to Setek to enjoy an almost worry free lifestyle and work in less dangerous fields of work, but still make comparable money to some of the world’s Hunters.
Vytal Academy is a massive school located on the island of the same name, just north of the Kingdom of Rift. The school was founded by the Four Kingdoms over one hundred years ago, and serves as the only truly neutral location in the world during periods of political strife - as outlined in the Treaties of Vytal. Being that the Kingdoms do not possess their own academies, all Hunters are trained at Vytal to combat the creatures of Grimm. It is mandatory, in all but few cases, for every citizen to attend four (4) years of Vytal Academy prior to Hunter Classes, as to unlock their Aura and train them in use of Dust and weapons. It is through Vytal that everyone on Remnant, regardless of their allegiance, are taught the means to defend themselves.
Students attending Vytal, should they remain with the Academy for Hunter Training, will attend the school for a total of eight years. After completing underclass courses (ages 13-16), students will continue their tuition until the age of twenty (20), learning more advanced tactics to combat the Grimm in addition to unique histories not taught in the underclass. Years one through four do not have titles for their respective years, and are instead referred to as “underclassmen”. A student will become a “Freshman” at the academy upon starting their fifth year. They then progress to Sophomores during their sixth, Junior for their seventh, and Seniors for their final year. Upon becoming Freshman, a mandatory test in the outskirts of town will see students put into pairs - which will remain together until their graduation. These teams of two will work together for the remainder of their time at Vytal Academy, and often remain together after graduating.
